Oopppsss they did it again. Back in the beginning of the New Year I started to notice the corner of my wall bubbling and browning. I called The Handyman Network and at the time everyone was backed up, so I called around to roofers who told me I needed a plumber and the plumbers told me I needed a roofer ( this is without even coming out to diagnose) felt like I was chasing my tail. I was getting the run around and the problem was spreading, I can't express how much it means to me to have confidence in a company and workers that know how to fix a problem. After finally getting a handful of roofers and plumbers to see the problem NOT a one of them could tell me, what the problem was or where the water was coming from. So I Desperately called handyman network back and explained the problem again and explained that I am not getting any help from anyone and no one can find the problem. Tracy then told me not to worry , made me calm and said that she will try to work on something , within 2 days I had a call from Rich the big boss man and he was so genuinely concerned and and told me "we will fix it we will find the problem so you I can breathe again. " He sent me Joe what a he was understanding and he is most definitely a jack of all trades. He found out that the roofers who replaced our roof 5 years ago cut corners and he took pictures to prove it. Oh, boy was I not a happy clam but then he explained the photos and what needed to be done, which was quite a bit, he did it all his self without me having to call any other company to do the drywall etc etc. It is professional's like Joe and the Handyman Network who bring back the faith in having a job well done with a big smile on their faces always willing and ready to help. We had a microwave above the range removed and a range hood installed by Tyler. He had to climb into the attic and drill a hole through the cabinet from above and underneath the cabinet for the ducting. He did a great job. Cleaned up all the dust and debris. Was very professional, courteous and friendly. He actually came a day early as he had some time open up. Cost wise we had several bids one being 3 times the amount we paid. Plus we received a senior discount. We are having them back for additional estimates on some other needed projects. Very happy! read more

UPDATE: I asked the company to come look/fix the over priced fence. I was told that Brian would arrive between 10-11am; at 9 am Brian was there and went, uninvited, into my backyard. Brian still stands by his work; thinks it's wonderful and blames the look on "wood shrinkage" and the "step up" they had to do....Maybe it's my ignorance on fencing terms but, I would think if my fence needed a "step up" this would make the fence even or level all the way along the fence line. I'll let the photos speak for this as well as Brian's workmanship. I also gave Rich, the owner, the opportunity to come look at Brian's work and he has yet to contact me. I'll start off with my disclaimer: I was not the actual customer, my neighbor was; I was just paying for my half. My neighbor received a quote - quite a bit lower than the ones I obtained - so we agreed to have Handyman Network replace the fence that separates our properties. However, unlike the competitors quotes Handyman Network only gave a labor quote as the grand total and on the side wrote in a separate cost for supplies - - but, did not include that cost in the TOTAL cost....strike 1 Like most we were under the perception that we were getting a good neighbor fence. When I got home the day of completion I was surprised to find that was not the finished product. My neighbor informed me that they were told that because of the cement the good neighbor fence would not be possible for the first few panels (hhmmm, ok even though the old fence was put up correctly) but, they too were just as surprised as me to see, after returning from an afternoon outing, that for the remaining fence line it was not a good neighbor set up either. I was told, by my neighbor, that after they called and spoke to Handyman Network that $200 would be taken off the bill but, unfortunately, nothing can be done about the fence - really?....strike 2 Now, lets fast forward to my phone call. I called the day after the completion of the fence and was told someone would call me back - four, that's 4, days later I get a call from Brian who completely contradicts everything my neighbors told me. Insists that my neighbors instructed him not to do the good neighbor fence and...was sorry he is the one to have to tell me....but, my neighbors were home the entire time they were putting up the fence. What! Why in the world would my neighbors lie to me? Brian also told me that having the "bad" (my word, not his) side prevented the neighbors from peaking over to my yard...this way I could peak over to their yard....I just said, that's weird and I wouldn't do that. Brian said that in his opinion the fence looks better - - because??? You don't want to come do as the customers asked? ....strike 3 Brian said that he takes pride in his work and has been installing fences for over 30 years. Recently hired Handyman Network for some honey-do items around my home - hanging some curtains, towel bars, grab bars installed in the shower etc. They were able to come for the free estimate in a couple days, and completed all of the work a day or two later. Rich was to renovate our hall bathroom.. He walkout without finishing the job. He pull a mistake and mounted sink backwards on granite vanity. Tried to remove sink and broke slab in 2 pieces He got upset and for the 3rd day in a row left at noon. Work he did was ok, not great. We bought more granlte, hired granite installer, now going to hire a plumber, fixed ugly caulk lines that he just painted over. I painted bathroom door on the inside frame as frame. The list go on. I was so disappointed when he called monday and said we needed to do rest on our own. We trusted him, he had good reviews on other sites wish I had checked yelp. I felt we got along great. Very disappointed in our experience with the Handyman Network. We needed some drywall/general repair work and the quality of work was very poor. They left the job site very messy and the guy who did our work was very very distracted and couldn't stay with one task. The workmanship was very poor and there was no attention to detail. Their estimate was also very confusing, it didn't include any materials or removal of waste, you had to pay extra for everything and they never were clear about it with the initial estimate. The jobs we needed services for were split up into 2-3 days but after the first day we were so disappointed we decided to contact the owner. The owner was so rude to us and started yelling as soon as he picked up the phone before hearing what we had to say. He told us he was too busy and he was sure we only had a problem with the costs. After getting very demeaned by him we sent in our payment for one day of service with a letter stating our displeasure with the company and promising to write reviews with yelp and the BBB he called after receiving that with a whole new tone. Save yourself the time and go with a company that will treat you with respect and that will do quality work. read more

I called to get a quote or to make an apt for them to come out to give us an estimate and had a pretty bad experience. I had three projects I ran by the guy who answered the phone: 1) Ceiling fan and light switch installation. 2) Kitchen flooring demo and new flooring install. 3) Resurfacing & painting of kitchen cabinets. He told me they only do kitchen remodels (no resurfacing, etc. of cabinets) and he said he would pass on the flooring, unless it was part of a remodel. In the end, after mentioning they advertise themselves as "handymen" with the assumption they do smaller jobs and the installation only involved one fan, he told me he would pass and hung up on me. WOW is all I can say. I can see why they have such poor reviews on Yelp. I suggest avoiding them altogether. read more

Handyman Network No-Showed for a project they had scheduled to begin at 9 A.M. Monday morning. The sub-contractor called me at 8:10 A.M. and told me that he wouldn't be able to make it to the 9 A.M. start time for the project, as he had scheduled as he had ANOTHER appointment AND didn't have anyone to help him with my project, eventhough he had chosen the start date and time. I called the owner as a courtesy. I asked if he could send someone else to do the job for his sub-contractor that no showed. Apparently the "network" is very small as he didn't have anyone else available to do the work. He then got a little rude with me, telling me that it was my misunderstanding, which it wasn't. I got everything in writing and his sub-contractor was very clear about the scheduling. The owner also kept bragging about how high his BBB rating rather than offering a solution to the problem. This is clearly not the network of contractors that their advertising implies. My experience with Handyman Network would indicate that the company is not equiped to handle anything but very small jobs. This was a medium sized walkway replacement and fencing job, so it wasn't just replacing a faucet. It is a fair amount of work for two people, but one could most likely do it. I would have preferred that someone there tell me that this project was outside their scope of services so that I didn't end up wasting my time. This was very un-professional. Based on my experience, Handyman Network isn't a company I would trust to complete any type of major project. read more

If I could give this company negative stars I would! We called to have a quote done for some minor touch ups our previous contractor left us out on a limb with. They told us they were 3 weeks out. Ok understandable. They come out and give us an estimate and say they are 6 weeks out from being able to do the work but here is our start date (8/14) and he wrote it on the estimate. We booked it THAT DAY. 8/14 comes around and no call or arrival. We call the office and no answer and we leave a voice mail. 8/15 we call again and get ahold of the receptionist. She says she will look into it and have someone call us. Friday 8/18 We call again because no one calls us and she says we were always scheduled for 9/18 and that we must have just misunderstood, putting the blame off on us. I explained that I'm looking right at the estimate at the date and she still insisted I was looking at it wrong. At this point I should have figured this was a crap company and just called someone else, but I had already waited this long, I didn't want to have to start all over again. BIGGEST MISTSAKE I EVER MADE. So they come 9/18 (3 months after our initial call), two guys work for 3 hours, $760 which was higher than their estimate (to replace a dishwasher, adjust hinges on two doors, caulk around our bathtub and to cut out and replace 3 tiles in our kitchen. THEY DIDN'T EVEN FINISH THAT DAY! He cuts the tiles out and then says, we'll be back in 2 weeks to finish! For 2 weeks I was left with a safety hazard with my kitchen floor (my 70 year old disabled mother lives with us). When they returned, they charged us ANOTHER $160 to complete the work (2 hours). The caulking job on my bathtub looks like it was done by a 5 year old, smeared ALL over the place and the grout in the kitchen doesn't even match! We called to make a complaint about the grout color not matching and we were told there's nothing they can do about it. read more

Their rep "Mike" was supposed to arrive between 10 & 11 am but arrived an hour early -- and had no business cards! We discussed what I wanted done, he made an alternate suggestion which I said I would consider & then he said he would email me later that day with more details. After waiting 2 days & hearing nothing, I called the main office, asked to speak to "Mike," and was told he was talking to his boss so I asked that he call me back. I've never heard from "Mike" or anyone else at the company and a week has now gone by. I certainly can't recommend a company that treats potential customers like this!!! read more

Horrible experience. They were to install a pet door and replace a broken door. The first guy they sent didn't know what he was doing. He brought the replacement door and installed it wrong and sloppy. He didn't know how to install the doggy door. So then we talked to handyman network and they sent out their best guy. Finally the door was installed right, both of them. However, they charged $250 just to paint one door. Nope, not a mural, no trompe l'oeil,just a plain, white door. Rip off. This review is long overdue, but I was reminded of the workmanship while installing a new mirror in our remodeled bathroom. Mac from Handyman Network is a true pro--not a handyman but a former general contractor. As remodels go, what started out simple got more complex, but we got not only a new bathroom (better upgrades than what we originally conceived), but new copper plumbing under the house, fixture upgrades to our guest bath and long put-off repairs to hallway walls, tiles, etc. Friends have commented on the work: "A handyman did this?!!" Those statements speak for themselves. Rich and Mac quoted a fair price, and we got better than our expected value. We called Handyman Network for a bathroom plumbing job that our insurance company wouldn't cover. It involved removing the vinyl flooring, cleaning the mold that had formed from a leak around the toilet, reinstalling new vinyl, and reinstalling the toilet that the insurance company removed and left in the garage. We got same day service, a free quote for the complete job, and it was all done the very next day for a more than reasonable cost. While the workmanship was satisfactory, we were very disappointed that the agreed upon bid price was increased the morning of the scheduled job by $50 due to the fact that a machine needed to be rented to complete the task. This task was part of the agreed upon written bid price. The cost should have been included in the bid. This increase is what may prevent us from using or recommending this service. read more

I was referred to this company by a painter who said they could do stucco, windows and dry rot. I got an answering service at 10:00am and at 2:30pm, both times, I left a message and a number. Got the answering service a few days later too. They never called me back; I had to keep calling them. When I finally spoke with the handyman network (a week later), I was told they don't do stucco. So, I verified they do windows and dry rot. I was told yes. The appointment couldn't be made for another week (fine). The guy they sent doesn't do windows, so he was going to have someone else come out and look. Another week later, I hadn't heard anything, so I called. I was told to call another company about the windows, because they can't do them, or won't, or don't want to. Either way, very bad customer service. The are all very very nice people, but they don't get back to you and they don't pay attention to your needs or even know what they do. I've waisted 2 weeks of dry weather on this company. I recently had a gentleman from this company come over to give me a quote on fixing some broken kitchen drawers at my moms house. The gentleman immediately told me they would charge me $200+ for their services at base price without even looking at the drawers and what needed to be fixed. He said I would be better off gutting the entire kitchen then to spend money on their services. He said because they are general contractors, that basically "a little fix" like what I was asking was not something they could do. I tried to explain that my mom can't afford a whole new kitchen and asked if he could even do a couple things to help me work with what was there, and he said no! He left after this and I got to feel like crap and helpless because I could not afford a whole new kitchen for my mom. I am super disappointed with my experience with them! I was able to use the parts there and fix the drawers myself, but was willing to pay this company to help me out. Hired this company to replace a rotted window sill. While pounding the sill into place from the outside, the interior window frame was pushed away from the wall which cracked the drywall in the bathroom. After two days of wrangling the owner, Rich, came out to look at the damage. Rather than fix the drywall, he handed me my original check and refused the fix the damage because the cost of fixing the damage would be more than the amount I paid to replace the rotted window sill. Rich was very rude and began referring to me as "dude" and "idiot". As he drove off in his vehicle he flips me the bird. Don't walk away from this company -- run. Unbelievable. read more
