Food is great but the takeout service could improve. We ordered several hundred dollars worth of food to go. My son paid for it in cash with a nice tip. No one could bother to help him take it to the vehicle. The male cashier just stared at him blankly, so he had to make a few trips in and out. Do better, Hunami. read more

It's been too long since I've been to Hanami Sushi. I've always enjoyed the quaint ambience and relaxed atmosphere. The service is prompt and the waiter was extremely helpful and personable. The fod itself was wonderful. I know some have had a negative experience here but I'm all smiles after this visit. Great food. Great service. read more

If stays, will be update Maestro or Maestra a few notes on the piano if you please, one thousand three hundred eighty three! Child menu is increasing in price. Used to be $9.61 with tax! It is now $12.83 with tax. As I tell Braden, he is helping me today, is either here or nearby call think Sum Mongolian! Sum Mongolian now $17.99 before tax for lunch, rounding off $18.00 before tax! Okay for me and child menu eleven dollars plus tax or less, that seems be reasonable for me! However, twelve dollars and eighty three cents with tax, portion was huge. Comes with bowl of Miso Soup, the meal strips chicken teriyaki, rice, pine apples, salad with tomatoes and celery, dressing! Thank to Owner of Omiyage for "sending" me here! Stopped here on the way back from a snowboard trip. Probably should have skipped it, but the kid wanted sushi. Tuna was unnaturally pink and had no flavor. My Cal roll had a piece of short wispy blonde hair on it, which could have been a dog hair or the server's beard. Kid's inari seemed to have a green spot on it, but it was eaten before I could inspect it further. It didn't result in any gastro issues, but definitely sus. When we got the bill, no itemized receipt was given. The amount billed was around twice as much as we ordered. Sent the bill back and confirmed everything was double charged! They gave a cash refund for the overage and an apology. Not sure why they couldn't void the charge, but I guess I wouldn't trust them with a double swipe of the card. Lesson learned, don't get sushi inland. read more

Hanami Sushi is one of my favorite places in Auburn. I go there all the time with my friends and family, and it's always a great experience. The atmosphere is really welcoming, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. The last few times I've been there I've gotten the miso soup and the 911 Roll, and both were amazing. The miso soup was warm and flavorful, and the 911 Roll had the perfect balance of spicy and sweet. Everything always tastes fresh and well made. I love that Hanami is such a fun and reliable spot whether I'm going out with friends or having dinner with family. Definitely one of my favorite sushi places in Auburn! read more

I was in Auburn today and wanted some suishi for lunch. Today is May 7th..see my receipt. This is a small unpretentious place located in a really cute area of downtown Auburn surrounded by cute shops and historical places to visit. I had the spicy tuna roll...very tasty with extra wasabi! My friend ordered the crab and avocado roll..also very good. The rice in their rolls is so soft..however they are preparing it makes the rolls even better! The suishi staff was quick and friendly. I would say the waitress was a bit distracted by a friend that came in but she still did a good job. They have indoor and outdoor seating plus more seating upstairs. They have beer and wine and sake. Overall..great location..great menu! Definitely will be back! Ps..get the lunch specials ,more bang for the buck if you are hungry! read more

This place has gone downhill, food & especially the service! This used to be our go-to Sushi, however the fish has not been fresh the last few times we've come in, which is obvious from the smell when the food finally did come out. Not sure if they changed where they get their fish from? The server was rude and didn't seem to be bothered that it took so long for our order, as she laughed it off when we asked her. Then continued to pat my Husband on the shoulder & touch his back like they were old friends. Keep your hands to yourself please & thank you. With the addition of the new Sake Sushi restaurant a short distance away this place should clean house a little bit if they want to compete. In the meantime we won't return. read more

I work right down the street from here and finally went in during lunch on a Friday with my husband. It's such a cute, little restaurant and so good. The UFO is addicting. Everything was amazing and I went back the next day by myself for some more UFO and the Miso Soup with clams to go. The service was great as well. read more

We haven't had Hanami in a long time and wanted to revisit! Called for a to go order and everything was ready so quick for a Friday night I was pleasantly surprised. And the food was amazing! Every roll we got was delicious and the kids plate was a good portion of food that was well balanced. Maybe next time we'll opt for a sit down dinner! read more

Last night, April 11th, we tried a new, for us, sushi restaurant.!!! We'll Hanami has truly gotten our appetite going.. I had Orange Blossom and the JJ absolutely the best tasting I've had in a long time. My Husband had the oysters and I can't remember what roll he ordered but excellent food, fun and excellent 1service. We are definitely going to make Hanami Sushi our place!! This is such a cute little sushi spot that has a ton of seating upstairs. We came here for lunch during a weekday and it was already packed downstairs and outdoor seating, however the upstairs was just as nice. Our waitress was very sweet and quick with service. Food was very good; definitely one of the best spots in this area. read more

Great sushi rolls and pepperfin, looking forward to a second visit to try their nigiri and sashimi. We met my parents for lunch, they recommended the restaurant after their 1st visit with a friend that highly recommended the location. I generally don't think of Auburn, in the foothills, for fresh, tasty seafood- I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is wonderful, and attentive. Went to Hanami w my sister who is a local and recommended this restaurant. We sat outside in a nice front patio where you can take in downtown Auburn and started w the Pepperfin appetizer. Nice sliced sushi with a jalapeño slice on top and a light sauce - soy based I think. It was fantastic and I recommend trying some slices without dipping in a soy-wasabi bath just to experience the true taste w the light sauce on the plate. We moved on to a spicy hamachi roll, a JJ roll and a Caterpillar roll that has unagi. Loves me some unagi! All three rolls were excellent! We had first class service which is getting harder to find in restaurants but our server was on her game! Ambience- check. Food - double check. Service -triple check!!!! The vibe was relaxed and friendly. I'm definitely coming back next trip to visit Sis! read more

My new favorite sushi spot! It's freakin amazing. Been twice for lunch and heading there shortly for dinner. Everything melts in your mouth. The New Auburn roll and UFO app is to die for. Wow. Absolutely amazing especially considere how reasonably priced the food was. I came here during lunch time For being outside the waitress was incredibly attentive and take extremly good care of me. I ordered the 9 pcs nigiry and 9pcs sashimi and did not disappoint. For sashimi i ordered a couple different types of tuna and salmon The quality of the fish was absolutely excellent, far better than i had anntipicated for the price point. The food came out quickly and the waitress was extremely pleasant and patient with my ordered throughout during lunch time. My husband was craving sukiyaki, and Hanami was the only place nearby we could find that was serving it, so we drove about 40 minutes each way to get some. He wasn't sure if it was worth it, ultimately - he thought the sukiyaki was okay, but not great. On the other hand, I had a sashimi platter (4 pieces each of maguro, hamachi, albacore, and salmon), and it was BANGIN'! Service was cheerful and prompt, although as others have noted, a bit weird. There were several people attending to us, but ultimately they got it all done nicely. I'll be happy to return! read more

When my son came home with leftover nigiri from Hanami, I was quite blown away. He and co workers had dined there after work one evening, he ordered a regular nigiri plate, and co workers ordered several rolls and nigiri. He brought back nigiri with cuts of fish which are atypical in most Sacramento sushi joints(without having to pay extra $$). There was tako(large slices of octopus), tsubugai(large piece of clam), toro(fatty tuna), and hamachi. I was quite skeptical at first, I never heard of this place. After examining the nigiri, I noticed that the ball of rice under the fish was small(good sign), the rice was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The sushi was delicious! I was so impressed with the sushi that I brought my mom along on my first visit. This small restaurant is on the corner of Lincoln Way in old town Auburn. There isn't a parking lot available except for the street side parking. The restaurant is two floors. The first floor has the sushi bar along with seating for maybe six? There are a few tables oddly placed in a rather crammed space by the window. Since the downstairs was packed, we were guided up along a straight staircase. This, was rather difficult for my mom, walking up, I was praying she wouldn't fall. I suggest you call ahead, if you want to be seated downstairs. The second floor is dimly lit and it doesn't feel as crowded as the first floor. We ordered the regular sushi (comes with an order of the California roll), the Nine by Nine (nine pieces of nigiri with nine pieces of sashimi), tempura appetizer, and udon. Our food came out at a decent time, and the service was attentive. Now for the food......it was just okay. There was no sign of that fresh nigiri with special slices of fish. We were rather disappointed. Tempura was average,udon was average, miso soup was average, and sushi was Average! I have a high inclination that my son had received that great sushi because he went there with, "regulars." Regardless, I don't think we'll be coming back to see if we get special cuts of fish. read more

Sadly we came to find we'd been missing out, after 6 years living in the area, on possibly the best Japanese dining experience outside of the Bay Area. Had Salmon Sashimi last weekend that changed my mind on the hierarchy of my fav's. Friendly, ESL Japanese chefs doing the cuisine properly. $$ because it's done right. No 1/2 price rolls because you get what you pay for. read more
