Just got my car back after having been rear ended two weeks back. The other car insurance was Travelers and they were on their list. I checked yelp and saw all the 5s star reviews. Now I know why. Car looks brand new. Great to deal with over the phone and they seemed like they really cared and wanted to do the right job. I hope to not use them again soon but knowing the way people can't drive I am sure I may return someday. Based on this experience, I would not take my car anywhere else. I promised myself that I would not go to sleep until I wrote a review for Hanagan's Auto Body. I am beyond pleased with the work that was done on my car. My back door was smashed in but now it doesn't even look as if I was in an accident. I went to many places to get a quote and Hanagan's didn't try to rip me off, overcharge me for work I didn't need done or try to get more money from my insurance company. Usually my dad would help me take care of stuff like this, but since he was not able to, I am grateful that Mr. Jim Hanagan explained everything to me in detail. I have only superlatives to describe the quality of work and service at Hanagan's. The hail storm that passed through recently (April 21, 2017) left hundreds of dings in our Subaru. USAA sent out an adjuster to look at the damage and write up a claim estimate (also sent someone to look at the roof - I highly recommend USAA also). We searched on Consumer Checkbook for auto body shops and Hanagan's stood head and shoulders above the rest - over 200 reviews and 97% rating. We called Monday morning to see when we could get an appointment and they took us that same afternoon. Since the hood is aluminum it couldn't be repaired and Jim (the manager) immediately called to order one, knowing it would take extra time to be painted and then called us with the update. Originally he had predicted it might be done by Wednesday and despite the extra required for the hood he said they'd still try to make it by then and to call in the afternoon to check. When we did he said they would work late Wednesday and have it ready by the next morning. The hood was quite a bit extra above the original estimate but he dealt with USAA directly and we signed over the check from USAA, plus our deductible when we picked up the car that morning - painless! The work was excellent, the hundreds of dents in the roof and elsewhere disappeared and it looked like a brand new car. USAA determined that the house roof needed full replacement - I wish Hanagan's also did this kind of work! Everyone there we talked to was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. the fact that they called with the update right away is, unfortunately, all too rare these days but speaks well of this business. I am happy to give them a glowing review and will spread the word to anyone I run into in need of a body shop. read more

Hanagan's does good work but is absolutely terrible on their clean-up afterwards. I've taken my car there several times over the years and this has always been the case! I've taken my car to other shops and their work is comparable but their clean-up is the worst by comparison! Almost every time I take my car there, there was residual dust EVERYWHERE ... inside my glove box, inside my console box, etc. I only kept going there out of convenience not reputation. They must have used a strong air nozzle to blow it out because there was a TON of dust behind my NAV screen which they denied was their fault. We almost got into an argument about it before they agreed to pay for replacing it. Then they had the nerve to fire me as a customer! Just beware of their clean up! Separately, they are not up on the latest technology. They found rust and said they couldn't get it all. However, a buddy in the business told me about a product that you apply and it chemically turns the rust into a bonded material stronger than metal, which you can drill, paint, etc. Hanagan's had never heard of it and had to look it up! Seriously??? I have now actually found a far better shop in Rockville so am glad I had to find another shop! read more

As good as it gets! I live in DC and park on the street, and my car gets many dents and scrapes in the process. But then I got sideswiped the entire length of my car by a hit and run, and I had to get it repaired. Hanagans made my car look like new again, a beautiful job, done on time, and done for the amount of money State Farm insurance allowed me. I am so impressed that I am going back to try their auto repair service for my five year maintenance, I am sure they will do a great job. They even provide my dog with dog biscuits when she comes along for the estimate. read more

Came across Hanagan's thanks to Yelp. I brought my car in for an estimate after discovering a dent in the front fender that had taken the paint clear off. After they took a look at the fender and a couple scratches on the door I was provided with separate estimates for both so I could decide which work I wanted done. I found them to be very up front and honest as they shared with me that the scratches, which were small, would still require some expensive work and they recommended I only have the fender done. I appreciated how up front and honest they were with me. I picked up the car today (finished one day faster than predicted) and the work came in on estimate. I would absolutely deal with Hanagan's again, I found them to be incredibly polite and professional and their strong reputation is well deserved. read more

I've had 2 experiences at Hanagans, both terrific. The first one, several years ago, was for work paid for by my insurance company; they did a perfect job, and finished on time. More recently, I went to them because I wanted my slightly-beat-up older car to look a little bit better--but I didn't want to spend a lot of money to make it look perfect again. They listened and really understood what I was asking for. For a very reasonable charge, they buffed out marks and made other minor fixes, that in combination have made a big difference in how the car looks. (Another shop in Silver Spring--also with very good reviews--told me they could not do anything for less than $1,300.) In addition to doing great work, the people at Hanagan's are extremely nice and helpful. They deserve all of their 5-star ratings! read more

My car was recently scratched by another car (and driver) and was selected Hanagan's from a list provided by the insurance company. I dropped the car off on a Monday hoping it would be ready by the weekend. Not only was it ready by the weekend, it was actually ready mid-week. They did a great job with the repairs and I would highly recommend them to others. read more

I recently scraped the side of my car up in my parking garage. I went to Hanagan's for an estimate because they got great reviews on Yelp. Well, unfortunately they didn't deliever. I was planning on paying for the damage out of pocket and not going through insurance. After I explained this to the gentleman that did my estimate, he looked at the damage for all of about 30 seconds and quoted my repair at $1,200! He kept saying I should go through insurance. When I looked at the estimate it was a complete joke! He was estimating labor/repair time for parts of my car that weren't even close to the scrape! It was clear he was trying to get me to go through insurance so they could make more money, which I found unethical and frustrating. I obviously refused the work. After that I went to CRG Auto Body and they quoted me at a third of the price ($460), did great work, and had my car done within a few days. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. They are consistently amazing. Every time I've gone to them, they have been honest, fair, and very kind. Everyone who works there is super nice and treats you like family (except for the dark-haired woman who usually works the front desk, she has an attitude problem, is especially rude over the phone, and treats people like they're bothering her). As a younger woman, I often get screwed or demeaned in auto body shops because mechanics assume I'm car-stupid (I grew up in Detroit, I can change my own oil, I just don't have the space to do it here, but definitely not car-stupid). They have never made me feel like less than an awesome human being. I even now forego a family discount from another shop to come here. Recently I took my car in for an oil change and it was the least expensive oil change I've gotten in this area. They were done in a 1/2 hour (I had an appointment) and my car runs amazingly better than it did beforehand. While I was waiting, a couple of the guys offered me something to drink and one of the mechanics complemented my car on the way out. They also recommended a place to get my car inspection nearby, and it was a great place, totally reputable, smooth inspection with absolutely nothing shady to worry about. Then a few days later I brought my car to them because I switched residencies and didn't know how I could attach the new plates to the front of my car. They bolted it on in 5 minutes for free and even changed the rear plate, even though I said I could do that one myself. I love them! I will never go anywhere else! read more
