This is a nice hotel for the price and perfect for a staycation in the Springfield, MA area…read more We got a queen suite that had a stove, full sized fridge, dishwasher and sofa bed in addition to normal hotel room stuff. The free breakfast is meh quality but hey, it's nice to have someone else cook for you regardless. There's a pool too that my kiddo enjoyed. The hotel is 2 minutes from Holyoke mall that includes a Target. We got a frozen skillet meal from Target to make for dinner our first night there. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. Edited to add: As of August 2022 the staff was not masking, nor were masks required in any area of the hotel. The guests were mixed on masking. Many with N95 masks and taking breakfast to go to eat in their rooms mixed with guests not masking or distancing.

I had a serious unresolved booking problem there for my intended stay August 9-12, 2024. At check-in I was told, in sequence, "4 rooms left," then "2 rooms left," and finally "no rooms left" for any part of my intended stay. The sequence of having been told 4, then 2, then no rooms left was especially frustrating and seemed to me retaliatory for my mild expression of dismay, consternation, and frustration. My daughters and I arrived late from Logan Airport due to Debby weather, delayed rental car, and rain on the turnpike. We were attending my parents' funeral on the 10th. I understand that all people aren't going to be best friends; however, this night manager showed zero empathy. And worse, with the cockamamie room "countdown," I felt the manager exhibited personal animus. We stayed at an alternative--a nearby Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott--which we booked ourselves. Even so, on August 12, I received from Homewood Suites by Hilton an invoice and a paid receipt for all nights of the stay, August 9, 10, and 11. The only time spent at Homewood Suites by Hilton was in the lobby at 4 a.m. with the vindictive night manager counting down "4 rooms left," then "2 rooms left," and finally "no rooms left."

The service is great. They have a really good breakfast in the morning downstairs French toast and eggs, fruit, yogurt and do much more you can make your own waffle. There is coffee and tea all day long and again the service at the front desk is great they help with information and directions. It was superb. We really enjoyed our stay. We will be back in October. The only downside is that the room smelled stale and the television in the living room didn't work.

TV & wifi very good and we both fell asleep fast and slept well! (that never happens). Coffee fine and breakfast had better than average options. Hotel eggs but salsa and tiny bottles of hotsauce were available! For oatmeal there was an excellent topping station with walnuts And almonds, plus strawberry compote and mango sauce, yum! King studio Room 303 was spacious and clean, smelled clean. Only drawback was no fan in bathroom, right next to bedroom. My favorite touch was the mini basketball court! Note: they take a small security deposit at checkin - not $1000 like it said on Booking dot com.

I couldn't find warm milk for my hot chocolate but the attendant solved that issue in two seconds and spoke French to top it off. We got upgraded to a larger room for my two young adults and I. Very spacious! Hotel is very quiet and clean. The air conditioning and heat system were quiet. No noise from the fridge and the bells on the elevator were quiet enough that we didn't hear them from our room right across from it. Lots of large towels in the bathroom and because it was a room for disabled people, we had a large bathtub with hand held shower head. Staff was friendly and helpful. Front desk very responsive when we asked for an extra blanket. It was brought up right away. Cons: No newspapers available and no chocolate paste for breakfast. Beds were not very comfortable at all. Small gym with only dumbbells and treadmill. Pool is not for laps. Overall a good hotel that fits the price point.

**BED BUGS, FILTHY ROOMS, BROKEN PROMISES, DOUBLE BILLING, AND A GENERAL MANAGER WHO REFUSES TO…read moreRESPOND** Avoid the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Holyoke, Massachusetts, like the plague. We stayed here while our daughter attended a dance intensive, and in more than **550 nights at Marriott properties across the country**, this was hands down the most disgusting, mismanaged, and unacceptable hotel experience we have ever had. We found a **bed bug in our room**. We have photographs and video documenting it. We immediately notified the front desk and were told that housekeeping would enter the room while we were gone, clean it, inspect the situation, and determine whether the room needed to be sprayed or treated. We specifically told the staff that we would be away all day. When we returned that evening, the room had not been cleaned. It had not been inspected. It had not been treated. Nothing had been done. We later contacted Marriott Customer Care. As a Platinum Elite member, I explained the entire situation. The representative was appalled, documented everything, and told us that the hotel should never have attempted to place us back into a room where a bed bug had been reported. We were told the room should have been immediately blocked from use and professionally treated. Instead, this hotel apparently thought it was acceptable to leave the room untouched and send a family back into it. The hotel eventually offered us another room. When we entered that room, it was filthy. There was visible hair throughout the bedding, making it obvious that the room had either not been properly cleaned or had not been inspected before being assigned to us. So after discovering a bed bug, we were moved into another room that was also unsanitary. The staff repeatedly apologized to my wife and told her that: * Our Fairfield stay would be refunded. * The hotel would arrange and pay for another Marriott property down the road. * The hotel would cover reasonable cleaning costs for our clothing and luggage because of the bed bug exposure. * The general manager would personally contact me to resolve the situation. We were told the general manager would call Saturday night. He did not. I called again Sunday. The front desk confirmed that they had my correct phone number and assured me that the general manager would absolutely call. He did not. It is now Wednesday, and the general manager still has not contacted us. Even worse, the hotel's phone lines have reportedly been down for days, to the point that Marriott Customer Care has been unable to reach the property themselves. Despite every promise made by the staff, we have now been charged for the entire Fairfield stay **and** the replacement hotel. No refund. No reimbursement. No payment for cleaning our belongings. No explanation. No accountability. No phone call from the general manager. Nothing. This was not a minor inconvenience or a simple housekeeping mistake. This was a complete breakdown in sanitation, guest safety, communication, billing, and management. A bed bug was found and documented. The room was not handled appropriately. The replacement room was filthy. We were promised that the charges would be covered. We were then charged for both hotels. The general manager has repeatedly ignored the situation. The fact that a family can report a bed bug, be given a dirty replacement room, be promised a refund and alternative lodging, be charged for everything anyway, and then be completely ignored by management is beyond unacceptable. The general manager's refusal to contact us after multiple promises speaks volumes about how this property is operated. We expect an immediate refund for the Fairfield stay, reimbursement for the replacement hotel, reimbursement for the necessary cleaning of our clothing and luggage, and direct contact from the general manager. Until this is fully resolved, I strongly recommend that travelers avoid this hotel like the plague. There are far too many hotels in the area to risk your family, your belongings, and your money at a property that handled a serious bed bug complaint this irresponsibly.

ORIGIN: The Old Riverton Inn allows guests to stay and dine…read moreon the site of a circa 1796 stagecoach inn that once served Hartford-Albany travelers. LOCATION: I stayed one Friday night this fall as a splurge ($229 /night) with intention to become familiar with the inn and its namesake town and surrounding communities. The site is steps away from a river and town center, making the Old Riverton Inn an ideal destination for those looking to explore the charming town or fly fish. AMENITIES: The inn preserves the availability of food and drink through a ground floor tavern. Lunch and dinner are offered at the Royal Coachman Tavern (check its Yelp page), but breakfast, conventionally provided to inn guests, is limited to an unattended counter with baked goods, single serve coffee maker, and dry cereal. While this might be ideal for early rising visiting fly fishers, it is not aligned with a conventional inn experience of hot breakfast. ACCOMMODATIONS: There are ten rooms located on the second and third floor of the inn. Guests may select specific rooms through the inn's website. Decor can be described as "shabby chic", with evidence of time reflected in the scattering of scuffs on vintage furniture, peeling print block wallpaper, and chipped paint on trim. Portable heaters in the closets and AC units in the windows are provided so that guests can modify room temperature. PARKING: To my surprise on site parking is not guaranteed to anticipated inn guests upon arrival. I arrived at 5 PM and found lot full, with six cars already parked along the emergency shoulder of State Route 20. While checking in an employee directed me to park in the emergency shoulder (safe/legal?) and assured me that I would be able to get a parking spot by time tavern closed at 9 PM. I appreciate that the current owner, Sherice Levan-Bennett, solicits guest feedback. I suggested dedicated parking for the anticipated overnight guests to facilitate easy unloading and a safe and relaxing experience. TIPS: Check out is early (10 AM). The third floor is quieter than second floor when the Royal Coachman Tavern is open for business.
