We were hoping for classic Elicia's under a new name, but this wasn't it. Ordered pizzas, salad and toasted ravioli. The ravioli were good but we didn't get the sauce as advertised. The salad was poor quality iceberg and the pepperoni were sort of gray and damp, we removed them because they looked off. When I first moved to the city, Elicia's (on Gravois) was right next to my apartment. So when I couldn't afford gas or it was snowing and I couldn't get out of my street because the giant wall of snow at the end... that's where I ate. I loved it. Over the years, I'd pick it up from various locations for work events or family get togethers. But once we moved out to the boondocks, there weren't any locations near me, so they got used to other brands. I was just reminiscing with my kids today, and they asked if we could get it. So, we drove around the ones closest to us, and they were sadly closed, but we finally ended up here at this one on Hampton, which I hadn't been to in ages. The employees greeted us when we came in, were friendly, and never stopped moving, they were staying busy. We ordered at the counter and went outside to enjoy the weather. In 15 minutes, one of the guys brought our cheese pizza out to us. It had a good amount of cheese on it, evenly distributed. Sorry, no pics, because... well, it disappeared. Firstly unfriendly on the phone. Next the pizza is a far cry from what it used to be to be. The crust was old tasting the sauce tasted like out of a can the cheese had little flavor. This Elicia's pizza is . I love that they are open so late. I don't get hungry sometimes until most other places have closed. I'm gluten free so that's almost impossible. Thank goodness for Elicia's gluten free crust. I'm also dairy free and have been ordering The Meats GF with jalapeños as no cheese. Let me tell you that pizza is so good it doesn't need cheese, I know it sounds crazy but somehow they make it delicious and it comes piping hot every time and the delivery person is always so friendly and they don't mind my obnoxious, yapping pup. Then yesterday we decided to give them another chance. We ordered our food, told them that last time it was a little overdone (trying to be nice) and was hoping it wouldn't be burnt. Nope. The picture I attached is 1/2 pepperoni and 1/2 Hawaiian. You can tell them apart but can you really tell that the one side is pepperoni or did you just think it was cheese or maybe sausage? This time they were called. Was an apology given? No. An explanation? No. We may as well have been talking to an acorn. No response. Finally after saying that we wouldn't be ordering from them anymore we got a response. "Okay." Then they hung up. Pathetic. Sorry. If you had at least handled the call better then I would have given you a third chance. Instead I'm spending my time and effort telling my friends about my TWO experiences. I called to place a carryout order. The guy answered "Elicia's, can you hold please?" So I said sure no problem. The guy came back about 3 minutes later and said "pickup or delivery?" So I said pickup. He then said that I would need to order online and that they don't accept phone deliveries during the last hour of business. Wait a sec. Then why the hell did you ask me to hold and make me wait for you for 3 minutes? Why did you ask if I wanted pickup or delivery if you knew you weren't going to take my order? Makes no sense. I then hopped onto their website to place the order and am getting a message "404 - File or directory not found." I've called a few times for help and they are no longer answering their phone. So no pizza for me tonight. Wow, what a very poor customer experience. They don't respect customer's time and want to make you jump through hoops to place an order on their website that doesn't work. Let's get to the point. I read through reviews and see what I experienced is indeed a problem others have had with this location. In my 60 years I have never seen a business keep in their hire, help answering the phone who yells obscenities at a customer while on the clock and their doors are open for business no less. And all while sharing details about legal stuff within the business that they say they aren't allowed to divulge to the public. She was at first at best, almost polite on the phone, whoever answered this location's phone on a Sunday Afternoon. My call to them came after my husband drove to 3 locations with no success. Two were permeantly closed and one would be open later, but was not open in the middle of a Football season Sunday afternoon. Long and the short of it all, called the location to order a pizza for my husband to pick up, but thankfully before ordering it, asked some basic questions to better understnad how does one go about getting such a pizza among the locations we knew of. Got lots of verbage about the legal lowdowns going on as the company split... about this and that, which honestly not completely appropriate to share with a customer considering the reason they can't let anyone know officially in write ups is that there are legal bariers at this time.... and she was begging for sympathy for this or that person involved in the legalities, my comments about customers finding it hard to know how to help them stay in business, what location is open when, (the location on Gravios was to be open later at 4pm and never opened up any time close to that time that day). We decided while she was speaking that we were wasting our time (pretty annoying hearing the details that it was obvious she wasn't suppose to blab and show zero empathy for customers trying to do business with them) and would need to go elsewhere. I told her so. The lack of boundaries there from the details shared to the literal shouting, screaming from her and the cussing, did not keep this long time customer, a customer. I hadn't had Elicia's in a few years. It was my father in law's favorite and we decided it had been too long. We weren't disappointed in our order. We got are favorite pepperoni and green pepper and a deluxe. They were both so good. There's something about it that I like even more that some of the other St. Louis style pizza places (and we like those too). Can't put my finger in it but we'll be back. My wife just ordered a 14" deluxe pizza($14.95) and the person she spoke with attempted to charge her for a cheese pizza, adding on each individual topping separately, this brought the total to over $30. When we called to question the amount, the woman, who claimed to be the manager, became instantly hostile and belligerent. She claimed it was the computer and not her, that if we didn't like it we could cancel the order, which I did. We all have bad days, but when your job is serving the public, you don't take it out on your customers. I prefer Elicias to Imo's nowadays. WHY? Imo's has become "too known as St Louis Pizza". What I mean by that is, they have stopped to impress upon the food, and now its about the name, Imo's. Elicia's is Great. I'm pretty sure their crust is fresh, if not its better than the Roma shells all other StL stylers use. The sauce is sweet and hearty. Their cheese is a mix of mozz/prov, but that is better for me, its not as runny and browns atop nicely. Elicias has other food too, sandwiches which are just ok, and the standard appetizer fare. The other thing they do well here is Wings. I am somewhat a Chicken Wang expert, and can say Elicias is in my Top 5 wing spots in St Louis. (list coming soon, add me :) The tub of wings, which must be 4-5 lbs of wings, is only $18 and the mild sauce is awesome.. Order them "Crispy" for a bit extra crunch. Elicias is my 1st choice for ordering Pizza nowadays, and is always fast. NOT to mention, on weekends, they are open until 2 or 3am! Overall; 4/5 on food (its as good as delivery gets for me) 4/5 on service, fast & friendly. 3/5 on Phone service, sometimes they are rude. They were a little late but that's because there was a miscommunication on the address. Once it arrived we were starving...I mean ravenously hungry...we instantly devoured it. We got the everything pizza plus a mongo salad. The salad was good especially for a pizza place. Nothing too fancy. The pizza was great, too. It had tons of toppings on it. Like, loads. Which is always great. Their pizza is thin (not sure if they even do thick crust). I am not partial to either one and I liked it a lot. The crust was light and yummy. Elicia's is my go-to delivery pizza place. In fact, I haven't had Imos in years simply because Elicia's does it better. I love their cheese blend and usually go light on the toppings so there's room for more of that glorious cheese. Speaking of cheese, when I'm extra hungover or just want to be an all-around fatty, I get their cheese fries. You wouldn't imagine that these would be good - especially since take out tends to make fries soggy. Wrong! The fries are simple, but delicious, and bonus...they give you not one, but TWO sides of spicy cheese sauce to dip them in. I highly recommend them. The spicy cheese makes them slightly different from your run-of-the-mill cheese fries. Finally, I have to say that Elicia's scores high on service. They are always fast and friendly. If you pick up your order, it's usually done in about 15 minutes. Also, I've never had to deal with the unenthused voice on the other end of the line when I order. Elicia's is a very good St. Louis-style alternative to Imo's. Another great local pizza place, Elicia's is another awesome Saint Louis style pizza every visitor needs to try. The crust is flakey and flat compared to the "cracker" crust from Imo's. The sauce is a bit spicier as well but for some reason, anytime I order sausage or hamburger from them, the cheese just seems to stick to the toppings and changes the taste for the better with each bite. I can't quite put it into words but the taste is amazing. Their wings are also excellent and are the perfect balance between hot and spicey. I really do recommend ordering them as they compliment the pizza very well. This location actually offers online ordering and you can get it delievered or for carry-out which is great. Carry-out is always quick, usually by the time I leave my place in Franz Park my order is ready right as I pull up.
