I never write reviews, but I always read reviews others write and today I was compelled to write one. I love Hammam Spa, it is the most relaxing place in the downtown Toronto and it the staff there is so nice and professional. I have tried most of their treatments over the years and their hammam is incredible. Once you step into the spa you literally feel like you are so far far away from Toronto.
My favourite services there include nails with Morgan (I think she no longer works there) and facials and waxing with Tanya. I always get nervous before waxing and Tanya is the most entertaining waxer I've ever had. Her technique is literally flawless: she is super fast, very funny, dilligent and makes waxing almost fun (hard to believe that, right? But it's true, she goes above and beyond). And her facials are also incredible - she analyzes all skin issues I have at the moment, does not skimp on product, makes the service enjoyable by not being a chatterbox and letting me relax during treatments and whenever she prescribes me the products she thinks I need, I feel like she does it genuinely, so I don't feel pressured (a big no-no for me). Oh and she also has golden fingers, her hand and foot massages are AMAZING! That lady has also seriously gorgeous skin that I truly envy, so getting facials from her and talking to her about health and wellness and detox makes me feel more hopeful that I will look the same at her age and more knowledgeable :)
I also loved Morgan doing my nails, her nail polish technique was flawless, and she was very easy to talk to (I don't like talking during facials, but it's different when you are getting your nails done). She also had one of the best personalities in the spa. The last time I've checked (it's been a while) she was no longer there, so I have yet to find someone to do my nails as well as she had done.
Overall Hammam is an amazing place. The staff there (truly, everyone starting from the receptionists to the cleaners) are so so nice. Sometimes it does get busy there but the staff tries to accomodate you to the best of their abilities. I notice it more in the tea room ( one of the reviewers underneath was unhappy when she was shushed for giggling) - I want to relax and have no problem with people talking quetly, but if you are laughing and talking at a full capacity I would be the one to shush you as well had I been there.
Try this spa, book a facial/wax with Tanya, she is superb and out of this world, really. I also heard really great things from friends about Leigent, who is an RMT. I have yet to try a massage there, but I hear she is also out of this world amazing and her touch is literally golden. read more
