Sucks. He fixed and painted the hood on my BMW. A month later the paint started to crack and peal. I went back the following month. He said it was his fault for rushing. He fixed it again and 2 months later the paint is cracking and chipping again. Why would I want to go back again? It will be a waste of my time. I do not recommend Hamlet's BMW shop. Stay away. I brought in my sons BMW 330 in for a full service and I was greeted and treated very kindly, the car was fully serviced within two days and their prices were much better than any other mechanic shop I've been to. After that I brought my BMW X5 and got an engine service and my bumper replaced. The work was absolutely incredible and they used all oem parts. Took my 2008 m5 here a few weeks ago had my clutch replacement he did his got for a good price ... Went to pick up my car he told me my smg pump was no good. I didn't believe him so I took it to a much better shop bimmer PhD in Pasadena. I was told that Hamlet didn't do the bleed process correctly when changing the clutch that's why my car was not shifting correctly. So they did the bleed again and my cars working perfectly now which means either Hamlet doesn't no what his doing or he was trying to make a quick 4 grand on me.... read more

First off, Hamlet is a nice, respectable, friendly guy. But my car could care less about that. What should have been a $240 repair has now turned into $700+ I take my '06 530i in because the fuel pump housing has a crack in it and is leaking. I know because I do my research, pull the back seat out, and check the housing on the passenger side. I know the new pump housing is around $180 and labor is about an hour. I call Hamlet and drop the car off. He calls me after his "diagnosis" and confirms what I already told him. "Part is $200 and about $40 to put it in", he says. I say OK. He calls back an hour later and says that he ordered the wrong part. "The real price is $389 for the part and $180 for labor.", he now says. WTF? I tell him I was going to have to wait to have it replaced, so I'll come get the car. When I pick it up, there has been gas sprayed all over the back bench. I drive it home, but unable to drive any more because of the smell, and spend the next 3 DAYS, soaking up fuel, scrubbing, soaking up, scrubbing, air-ing out, etc. 4 days later its still not gone, but at least its driveable. Why was there gas sprayed everywhere when there was not even any repairs made? Hmmmm. So I go buy the new pump myself, $210 +tax. and take it back for him to do the repairs. I explain to him that it was very frustrating to have to clean all the gas out the back. He just made some flimsy excuses, and basically said "it's not possible that the gas was spilled, because we didn't do the replacement." Well, obviously it was. But, I try to maintain peaceful relationships with people and agree to pay the $180 labor to install the pump I brought. An hour later he calls me and says that the locking ring on the drivers side filter (which needs to be removed to install the passenger side pump) is jammed and the only way he can get it off is by breaking the filter housing on that side. WTF? So the last mechanic to touch those filters was his (on Monday) and now he cant get the lock off (on Friday), and he says it's my fault. He insists that I took the car home, over-tightened the ring and brought it back. Why would I do that?? Oh btw when I explained the situation about the gas in the back earlier he said his mechanic didn't touch the left side so he couldn't have spilled the gas. But now that the ring is locked up, he says he was sure his mechanic tightened the ring by hand (on Monday). So which is is Hamlet? Did he or didn't he?? When I dont get any updates, I CALL IN many hours later to check on the progress, he informs me that they got the ring off, broke the filter (a $117 part), and ordered a new one at a price of $279 from Century West BMW. Who in the hell orders parts from the BMW dealer?? If I wanted to pay dealer prices, I would have gone to the Stealer. He refuses for me to bring in my own filter to install (even though he is already installing a pump I brought in...), so what started out as a $240 repair has now turned into $700 + . His refusal to come to any sort of compromise is just straight up bad customer service. read more

This shop has been around for over 14 years!!! That alone should tell you something. Hamlets bmw is the only place I'll ever bring my bmw for repair or maintenance. I have a 2009 bmw 650i and hamlet has been taking care of it ever since my factory warranty expired. He maintained my great and with passion which is very important in my opinion with mechanic shops. And luckily I haven't had big issues only simple wear and tear. Hamlet is very honest and knowledgeable and his shop is very clean with great service. Hamlet BMW is a great alternative to the dealership. I brought my car here after an accident, he handled all the paperwork and repaired the car back to normal. There was about over 10k worth of damages and he managed to put the car together in a little over 2 weeks, including paint. He can handle large jobs and small jobs as well. I had asked him about the reviewer above and he explained that he wanted the abs cables cut (something unethical In the car business) and he wouldn't do it, which just made me trust him even more. Overall: trustworthy, can handle big jobs and small, good turn-around time, and you only have to go there once, no BS. It's hard to find a shop like this nowadays, but I'm just glad i did. read more

Do not come here I repeat DO NOT!!! I have a 2011 bmw 328 and my check engine light came on. I decided to google the nearest bmw service since I didn't want to pay the dealer ship and I found this fraud!!! He checked my car and said I had a "bad coil" and all I needed to do was replace it and that he could do it on the spot for $150 so I said really that's awesome. I kept watching him the whole time and he questioned me why I was watching him and I said I'm just curious. Well I walked away for a few minutes on a phone call and he said he was done! I said wow just like that? He said all fixed. I noticed my car was still driving a little weird but didn't think much of it. The next day my check engine light came on again and I was pissed!!! I took my car to bmw and had a diagnostic check and guess what!!! He never changed my coil!!!! He is a liar and a fraud!!! He's lucky I didn't sue him!!! read more

Dont waste your time searching for cheap oil change place. Take it to Hamlet and he will take care of it for you in less than half an hour. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and efficient! He knows his stuff. I took my BMW to him to change the oil and he told me I should bring it to for an oil change more often, every 7000 mile which I agree and I know I haven't been taking care of my care the way I should! He changed the oil, filter, did bunch of other services such as, added anti-freeze liquid, break fluid, radiator water.... He even fixed the bottom engine cover that was falling off! Be careful for taking your bimmer Hamlet for repair. My brake job was over $700 for front wheels stating rotor and other accessories required to replace. It's way too expensive.! Hamlet fixed my car when noone else could. I recently relocated from the midwest and shipped my virtually non-running 1999 528i sedan out here. Running on 3 cylinders, stalling and with a host of other problems, it had been to two BMW dealerships and two independent mechanics in ohio. The closest diagnosis I could get was an "electrical problem". I took it to Hamlet, expecting the "your-car is-a-shell-of-it's-former-self-and-would-make-a-nice-boat-anchor" kind of conversation . Hamlet was friendly and inspired confidence. The team really does seem passionate about these cars--and the lot is full of them in various stages of repair. A week later, they called to let me know it was fixed, started fine, ran fine and was ready to be picked up! The problem was the oil seperator, at a cost of $430. The car runs wonderfully! I had bought it used, and it's in better shape now that the day I purchased it. It is in need of more maintenance, and I will be returning to Hamlet for that. I cannot recommend them enough. Hamlet's offered fantastic service. They were extremely professional, and did not lag on my car at all. Usually when I take my car anywhere it takes forever to get anything done. I own only BMW's and he has worked on my m3 on 3 different occasions, and although there may have been a cheaper shop to work on the car, they were considerably way cheaper than the "stealership" that quoted me 2k more than what Hamlets quoted me. If you want to get dealership like service and quality, but not willing to pay the dealership pricing than Hamlet's is the key ticket. They have everything and more than what any bmw dealership service shop has. If you want to get a mickey mouse job done to your car and want to go for extremely cheap pricing, than Hamlets is not for you. I am extremely happy, and get my cars serviced with them. They also installed some aftermarket parts on my car and knew everything about them from a-z, they are true car guys, and definitely know bimmers in and out. read more

Got the 528 back, shiny and sounding happy as usual. They polished the headlights and did a serious cleaning on the rims, without request or charge. The mechanics couldn't stand seeing her in the state she was in, and too it upon themselves for their pride in BMW'S. Really folks, if you want to keep it going (ours is 14yrs) take it here. I always say in this life one needs to have an honest doctor and an honest mechanic. While I am still not sure about the doctor, I know I have found the latter - an honest mechanic. Hamlet runs his own family business and takes care of his customers personally. I am sure Hamlet's BMW has hundreds of satisfied customers but sadly only the customers who had a somewhat negative experience decided to write reviews on Yelp. This certainly doesn't show the true picture of this business. They are always busy, which must mean they are doing something right. If you take the car in they will repair it, not cheap but better than the dealer. The problem is the lack of creativity in providing the repairs. Everything requires new parts. He offers few options. This is Rudy. I would not advise to anybody taking their car to Hamlet BMW at Colorado Street for service. It is 25% cheaper than dealer price but not worth it. The Owner is very nice personality but his mechanics are worthless. Recent I took my BMW 525I, 2002 for service at Hamlet. He charged me over $2,000. for brake job, changing transmission fluid, changing A/C filter, changing power steering fluid, and replacing the oiled pan gasket. After the all services were done, next day the car was shaken at speed 65 MPH when I stepped on brake, and made so much knocking noise at front wheel when the car almost stopped. I took my car to Hamlet for complaint with all issues. He said, the car needs to replace engine shock, steering joint and bunch of craps that will cost me another $1,500 to $ 2,000.00 with rebuilt part. I felt suspicious with this guy then I took my car Bimmer to dealer on that day. I explained the dealer with noise issues. Dealer charged $175 for diagnostic and provide me the causes of problem due to previous mechanic did not torque or tighten the nuts and bolts properly after he re-installed the parts. I think the BMW manufacture should strip his name or remove the "BMW" from Hamlet. read more

My old BMW got a flat right after getting off the 5 fwy. I had passed by this place a million times on the way to the mall but never stopped in. Since I knew where it was (a few blocks from the 5 fwy) I drove my car with the flat tire there. He told me he would put my spare time on for free. I was like Wow. My bmw needed services so I took it to Hamlet's bmw services shop in Glendale as he had come recommended by several friends. I wonder if they actually had any one on one dealings with him, I one one did. To tell the truth service was ok, the car was fixed and the bill was ok. I find it surprising when other reviewers boast by saying mechanics charge less than a dealer would, they are supposed to!! At any rate, he fixed the car although I had to take it back and get something else replaced and recently my service light came on again relating the same issue, so I don't think his work is that exemplary. But what really irked me was his attitude. He is very arrogant (at least was with me) and I found his customer service experience to be lacking, I will not take my car there again. read more
