Upon arriving we were greeted with a welcoming smile and accent meant to give you that southern hospitality feeling by our wonderful waitress Anna. This is what's missing nowadays in the retail and service industry and especially the food service industry. Anna very pleasantly introduced us to the menu and the nightly chef's specials. I was decided on what I was going to have for dinner from the chefs specials. I ordered the pecan crusted flounder on top of creamy mashed potatoes and fresh sautéed spinach for my entree and the (jumbo lump crab)crab cake for my appetizer. Everything came out quickly and looked delicious however, the fish wasn't my thing and I asked our waitress if I could change my entree. Without any hesitation Anna took the fish back to the manager. Honestly at this time I was hungry and I decided to just go with the Salmon which my wife also ordered. It looked really good plus it saved me from having to read the menu as we were sitting outside enjoying a cool and beautiful night air and wonderful scenery. I didn't want to ruin our dinner experience as we were just getting started and I wanted to make the best of our dinner date. Anna preceded to bring out a selection of four of their delicious soups and a taste of their oyster taco with fresh pico ( free of charge ) and where I'm from it's called lagniappe and I'll take that! Bringing back service and lagniappe this restaurant will definitely see big things if they keeps this up. Overall the atmosphere, food and service deserves to be recognized, after all we can all use more good and positive information these days. read more

Service and food were outstanding. Our first time here. Chef came out with soup and oyster nacho samples, all were fabulous. We had Blackened shrimp only, lobster and shrimp grilled cheese, fish & shrimp combo, and fish and chips. Everything was tasteful and fresh. Will definitely be back. PS. This food is delicious, the servers are A1 and know the menu + kitchen well (I had several keto-ish modifications) including a keto Margarita (fresh lime juices only). It looks over the green space it's perfect. I'm happy the original restaurant we were going to was lacking, bc it led us to Google other spots in the area and find this gem. What I ate: Buffalo Shrimp appetizers (grilled shrimp) Seafood platter with blackened shrimp, Cod, and some delicious green beans. Tip- ask for Remoulade sauce to accompany the cocktail and tartar sauce. They are all full flavor sauced, not watered down. read more

The Food was as expected "GREAT" and the service was indeed good, friendly and helpful. Nicole suggested the SERAFIN'S FISH TACO with the Cuban Black Beans and White Rice which really good. Dinner last night around 8pm. plenty of diners... but no wait. I ordered the Seared Scallops and Shrimp... very good. My wife ordered the special Coconut shrimp. It was supposed to be served with Red Chili Flake green beans. But they were out of green beans... so we substituted a side salad... and were charged $2.29 for it. First time at Half Shells. It has a fresh ambiance, bright and open. The food was excellent- grilled oysters,, could have eaten 20 more! Stuffed salmon was perfect, the shrimp tacos were delicious fresh and not heavy. The bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops were good. A lot of fun cocktails. We only had drinks so I can't vouch for the food. We had intended to have dinner but the restaurant was very busy and loud. It has open air outside seating which is great for families as the restaurant opens up to a field where kids can run around. The prices seamed a little high to me especially in that casual atmosphere and it looked as though the food was being delivered on plastic plates. Definitely family friendly and the manager actually stopped to ask if everything was okay. I was just looking for something more upscale. My biggest critique would be that from my vantage point the behind the bar are should have been less messy. read more

This place was pretty bad. The staff is nice and attentive but the food was bad. First we had oysters which were cheap and good in size but didn't taste very good. Our main dish was the crab boil which was $50 for very little food. Everything was cold, not a touch of spice or seasoning on anything, and the crab tasted extremely fishy it was hard to eat. Same location was called Fish City Grill. The menu did not change. The portions are much smaller. It was 64 degrees and the garage door was open. We saw the hostess put on a jacket, I said "I see my wife and I aren't the only ones who are cold, can you close the door?" She said it was not allowed. I then told our server, Casey we were cold and asked if the door could be closed. He said he would ask. We come here twice a week but unfortunately, they have a new manager who didn't seem to care about regular customers : there was nowhere to sit outside except along the side where it was very hot and steamy there was 1 five top with four chairs. The beer battered fish was fantastic. Seasoned, flakey and fresh. I'll be back for the fish. Now, the tarter sauce should be bottled up and sold. It was outstanding! The fries are ok. Now the drinks, let's say they are not skimpy on the alcohol. They were moderately price and tasted great. I'll be back to try some of the other drinks. The bread pudding was excellent. The key lime pie was a 3/5. You can definitely taste that bread pudding was homemade and it wasn't overly sweet but perfect. My husband and I left there satisfied thinking this place was a hidden jewel. The manager was so personable and nice. He heard it was our first time visiting and brought us out some samples of the soups and an oyster appetizer to sample. The place was comfortable and clean. We typically go to half shells a few times a month. Great happy hour. This time we went for dinnOK. I started with the new England clan chowder. Was not very good. Extremely watery with a few pieces of potatoes and clam. Having lived in new England, the test would be to put your spoon in the bowl and see if it sticks. This would have failed miserably. Then I ordered the stuffed founder with crab and shrimp. Unfortunately, the piece of fish was like the ones you buy from Costco in a package. Extra small. Ok portion size was small. I ate it and was not impressed. The stuffing was a white gelatinous something. I didn't get any crab and a few small shrimp. I almost took it back but dodnt want to wait longer. The staff is great but not sure if it was an off night but that fish was not good. Lacking flavor, no crab and very few shrimp with an off flavor. It felt like it was reheated. I got a big portion of white rice though. My wife got the jalapeño bacon mahi tacos and she said they were ok. read more

Just tried this place last week. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Since it was our first time, they sent the chef to our table with a sampler platter. It was a very nice touch! We started with the lump crab cake for our appetizer. It was excellent. My husband ordered the seafood grilled cheese. He said it was very tasty. I ordered the cod sandwich w/fries.
