For some reason my review was deleted but I will post again to warn everyone out there of these half price - half work they do. I recently did business with this company in high hopes of great packing and moving services, very disappointed when the movers came in to move and they were missing screws, remotes, pieces of furniture and then proceeded to tell me they cant pack my paintings or anything breakable? They left my home a wreck to clean up. I called the supervisor Sterling Smith and the other Kristi I believe which both were terribly rude telling me they don't see nothing wrong with what their movers were doing... unprofessionally tried to argue with me on the phone when I explained i wanted my items PACKED.. (isnt that what movers do?) I have moved with 9 different movers in my life and these were by far the WORST movers I have had. The two movers were slow and one of them took marijuana smoke breaks. Also as I finished my move, I have found other missing pieces to my furniture, tv remotes that were not packed with the tv, my washer and dryer wires as well.. THANKS FOR THE WORST SERVICE! If i could give negative 0 stars I would. I was moving from one building to the building next to it. the move was scheduled at 11am. i arrived at 10:50am greeted them and led them upstairs to the apt, one of the guys asked for direction so i showed him i needed all the heavy large furniture, he agreed, had me sign for the first hour. It was 11:00am. I told them i too would be back and forth as i was moving all my fragile items. (David) remained in the unit for quite some time while the gentleman with the dolly (thomas) and i are back and forth. I see David calmly walking from one building to the next with some cushions. I immediately felt uneasy, usually the cushions are not first priority. I asked nicely could they please focus on the heavy stuff. no reaction. (my intuition told me to record the next interaction as I felt he had an attitude). An hr in and my apt looked the same, I begin to bring small boxes downstairs, when i turn around i see David grab them. I shouted could he please come upstairs and help with the heavy items. He rushed at me agressively "we are 1hr and 45min in i need you to sign so we can continue" we had a brief back and forth about the time, since it was incorrect. He proceeded to get verbally agressive and cursed at me, got me in my face yelling "im off the clock what you want to do" as he threw my items on the ground, refused to give me his name. (thomas was kind enough to provide that for me as he saw the audacity his co worker had). I immediately called the company and (frank) was just as agressive and would not allow me to explain. Speaking over me and of course siding with David. I told him i had the incident recorded and hung up. I was highly upset and could not believe the extreme unprofessionalism. Of course he starts blowing me up, leaving voicemails and sending texts. Too late. I was highly fearful so i called 911. my time log shows i called the company and spoke with frank at 12:33pm so there is no way we were 1hr and 45min when David approached me. I later found on yelp all the horrible reviews. But i believe i may be the only one to record their scam of a business. I will also be seeking legal action. ( i also believe all the 5star reviews are fake. I wish i would've gone on Yelp and seen all the horrendous stories before ever making contact with them) PLEASE RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! read more

I have used Half Price movers in the past. They did a good job. Therefore, I just called due to having to move a refrigerator from one house to another (4 miles from each other). I don't mind paying a fair rate for the work. But, I do stress FAIR. I was quoted by Johnathan on 12-21-19, "3 hour minimum for $345." I called another company that charges "2 hour minimum for $250." But, the company is willing to work with me since I have a small job and charge me $200. Naturally, I will be using the second company, Chapa's Moving for the work I'm in need of. I tend to move often, approx every 5 years. I also tend to be loyal to companies with good work and fair prices. I will soon post a review on the second company. read more

I had the worst service with them. Starting with the clerk at the office since day one. Rude lady. When i informed her of the dinning table being really heavy and to make sure and send me movers able to carry that table to the second floor. They sent me a young man thin about 130lbs. & a young lady that was not fit to carry heavy items. The items moved 90% of them were damaged. An item that has no money value to me is an angel statue that was gifted to me from my mother. She loved angels. That angel statue was gifted to her about 25+ yrs ago. Never once was it damaged. The drop it and blame the wind. crack the back of the head open. The dragged leather love sites, mattresses dragged, Office desk broken, mirror lamp top broken and left parts of it in the drive way at the apartment complex. They charged over 900.00 for the move and blamed me for taking a shower while they went back to my previous address to pick up more. When my previous movers only took 2 1/2 hours to move those items to storage on a one trip two men move. when called to see where they were the young lady told me she was at the store buying cigarettes and something to drink. I kinda think it would have taken them about 1 hr and 15 mins. loading and getting there and coming back. Close to 3 hrs later they get back. But they dont bring the important item. Dinning room table. They said it was too heavy.. That is one thing i did in-forced and mention it multiple times when making appt. They had mentioned to me that they would cover .60ct per lbs on items damaged they lied. I did my investigation and even gave them the weight for each item. To round it up i was looking at around 900ish in damages. But Lisa the clerk came at me with a 239 dollar check. read more

I wish I could do half stars because I would give them 3.5 stars. They are better than average. They called ahead which was appreciated. They padded and wrapped furniture, again appreciated. The not so good, the office called the lead at least two times that I know of. The guys stopped moving my furniture to answer the office calls. Unbelievable service and value. I was doing a move out and had A LOT of trash. They moved all of my heavy items into a cargo container. After they finished my move and took out the trash, I continued my packing of the smaller items and then realized that I had a lot more trash. I asked if they could return to remove the additional trash. They came back the next day and removed my additional trash and refused all efforts by me to pay them extra. read more

They misquoted me by$800. They damaged my doors my refrigerator that could not be repaired and some furniture. The didn't put my beds back together correctly. When I called in a claim Chris laughed at me she said she would send me the form and when I received it I couldn't print it I called her back and explain situation situation she asked me to print the whole email that wouldn't work either. I wish my better half checked these reviews before hiring this company. I don't know where to start. It took 7 hours from start to finish (roughly 4 hours to load stuff that was already packed up and broken down beds, appliances etc and another 3 hours to UNLOAD leaving my stuff all jammed in a room) The guys left some stuff in the garage that needed to be taken upstairs. Let's not forget the damage to my freshly painted walls in 2 different areas!! Oh and the fact they DROPPED my refrigerator on the door at my old place causing a piece to BREAK off!! So not only am I out $700 for this "half price half ass movers" I'm also out money to get wall repainted and also out money for the door at my old place! Just moved from a 3rd floor apartment in Selma to our forever home in Seguin with Half Price Movers of San Antonio and David and Jessie were the friendliest best movers we have ever had the pleasure to work with! The experience started great with getting the quote from Sterling who was helpful, polite, and gave me the most affordable quote of the 5 I received! Then they followed up with me a week before to get any changes and then again the day before. I was contacted when they were on the way and they showed up when they said they they would! All expectations were clear and upfront. David and Jessie had great attitudes and super great customer service. They took care of our belongings even down three flights of stairs. Used this company to move the contents from our 2 storage units to our new place. The crew was excellent....we had some very heavy pieces and they handled them like pros. No damage was done to our furniture and the guys were incredibly friendly. In fact I would request the same team if we had to use them again. I used a 3 star rating because of the office staff. Our move was scheduled to start at 10:30. We drove from the Medical Center to Schertz and arrived at 10:25 and waited...and waited...and waited. I called their office and was informed it would be at least noon before they were there. In reality, they didn't show until 1:00. I felt the office should have contacted me, the customer, to let me know they were running late instead of the other way around. It wasn't like we could do anything while we waited. So we burned 2 and 1/2 hours waiting on them to show up. The office told me the guys were coming from downtown but the guys told me they were coming from Stone Oak, so I think they might have squeezed another move in. I don't care, they have bills to pay to, just don't waste my time. What should have wrapped up by 2:00 wasn't done until 5:00 so our whole day was shot. This company is BBB accredited, so that was comforting. A BIG shout-out to KEMBERLY that works at this company. I spoke with her on the phone several times about my move (currently in a house with 2 others, but now am only moving my stuff to a 1 BR, 1BA apt.) & she was helpful and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I so regret hiring this company. First of all, getting the info on all my items that needed to be moved was done incorrectly and incompletely. When the movers showed up at my house, I was told they couldn't move everything I had because it wasn't on their list!! No one ever talked to me to go through everything. Now we have to hire more movers to get the rest of our stuff! Second, the guys that moved my stuff damaged the walls at both my old place AND my new place. The old place has a huge scratch on a wall, and they chipped several corners at my new house. They also damaged furniture. There are now scratches all over my desk, my TV stand was broken in half, and a shelving unit is bent. Before they started moving, they offered me some extra coverage for possible damages for an extra $50...after being assured they would take care of my stuff, I declined it. Should have taken it. I never thought so much damage would be done. Now, we've called and emailed and complained. We were told more movers could come to finish the job, but we would be charged full price. YEAH RIGHT! We hired someone else. We were also told we would be emailed a claim form to submit for the damages. I haven't received it yet! Please don't hire them. I read bad reviews and usually think that it won't happen to me. This time it did. It was just awful. I buy a house in perfect condition, now it's beat up because of their incompetence. read more

I do have to give them credit for punctuality & getting back to me in a timely fashion. Other than that well, where should I start? My move required moving only heavy items to the 3rd floor. They proceeded to wrap my items for protection. Which was fine. There were only 2movers, of which it seemed only 1was working. The other guy would disappear. When I finally got tired of wondering where the hell he was, I found him texting inside the truck. This occurred on more than 1occassion. When it came to unloading the truck. I had the same trouble. It seemed just 1guy was working. I started to help unload the truck. The major thing that upset me was when they broke my glass table top. They had gone through the trouble of wrapping it & ended unwrapping it because "it was getting in their way". What happens when 2 sweaty guys holding heavy glass? I had these movers move a bedroom . They came and loaded my bedroom furniture on their truck and they followed me to my new home . They drove so slow, I slowed down to 45 miles per hour so they could catch up to me. A 15 minute drive took 45 minutes. they arrived at my new location and could barely lift my bedroom furniture , they damaged my hardwood floors where stopped to take a break and reposition the furniture to take it up to the second floor. spoke to the operation person and he denied the claim dismissed. A friend recommended Half Price Movers to me as I was looking for affordable movers to move my stuff within the same complex to a different unit back in December 2017. Upon arrival they were on time and quickly got to work moving my things. I was impressed with their efficiency and how I was able to just relax and chat with my Mom while they did all the work. I read some of the negative reviews but I had no problem with any of my stuff, nothing was damaged or broken. They took apart my bed and put it back together at the new place and wrapped all my furniture in plastic and handled it carefully. I couldn't be happier with the results & will continue recommending them to others. I used half price movers iin Corpus Christi, TX to move me out of my house to a storage and gave them all access to my credit and which charged me mutiple time which i did not complain for over 1200 dollars. Then used them again to move me in a 2nd floor apt 8 months later for another 500. They were told that the 86" tv was just bought and to be careful. Well when i installed it in the wall in my apt, the screen was cracked...they gave me 60.00 for it and said that i did it. Do not use in this company in san Antonio or Corpus. Used 1/2 price movers to move a 4 bedroom home from San Antonio to Houston. Employee comes out to give the quote the day before the scheduled move, sees the entire home and garage, and provides a quote later that evening. The quote was fair. During the home walk through we specifically discuss a chest freezer that I wanted moved with the food in it (last on, first off, 4 hours in transit). She makes no mention that this is a problem. Crew shows up ontime, does the job requested and in a quality manor, arranges to come back the following morning to pick up the chest freezer and deliver to Houston. Crew shows up on time the following morning, and they have received instructions from their office not to load the freezer with any food items in it. This was never mentioned to me the day previous by the office or crew after I had made my intentions known to both the lady quoting the move and the crew the first day. Brandi, the office lady I was dealing with, was rude, condescending, and basically an unpleasant person to deal with. The moving crew left the freezer for me to deal with later. Long and short of it. Good crews, fair price, but the job was not completed. I would not do business with them again as long as Brandi is employed. read more

Who doesn't hate moving!? Shopped around online, found this place, reviews were impressive. Did the online quote thing, also impressive. Bookmarked it but kept looking and within 10 minutes a rep from Half Priced Movers called me to give a more individualized quote and answer questions. Got a quote for packing as well as moving, and it was pretty steep so I opted to just book their moving services. Scheduled (chosing convenience over price because a weekday move would've saved me a little over $100, but I preferred having the weekend to unpack) for a Saturday between 2-4, got a call on Friday to confirm. I'm writing this on Saturday at 4:30 because I have both time to kill and want to review my situation accurately. I understand that moves are unpredictable and almost always run longer than planned, but a phone call would have been nice, rather than me being bored for the past 2 1/2 hrs and my dog being sad outside. I called them at 4, only to hear their voicemail tell me they closed at 2 today. Just got a phone call (4:40) to let me know (as presumed) that they were running late, better late than never, I suppose. Now they're here, it's 6, still better than a diy move with a uhaul... The movers say they were told there wouldn't be boxes to move, just a bed, crib, couches, and TVs, THAT'S IT. I'm annoyed now, but they call their company and get the ok to move the boxes. The movers are professional, speedy and great; the dispatchers/ phone people/ desk jockeys are clearly disorganized and confused. Total move took under 3 hours, I was quoted apparently just for those 7 big things at 3- 3.5hrs (which seriously, why would just those 7 items take that long!? They wouldnt. I scheduled boxes and the phone intermediaries are just wrong.) Moral of the story, I recommend them for how great the movers were but BEWARE, if I could contract the movers themselves without the Half Price Movers input, I definitely would. read more
