They did a…read morefine job, so a few months later when the coolant light was on and the car was in limp mode, I didn't hesitate to call Mike and Mikes to do the job. I got the car towed 30 min from homewood just to use them. I also had purchased brake pads and rotors for the car and placed them in the trunk for them to put on. They originally quoted me an outrageous price to put the brakes on. When I explained that I was providing the parts, and I would just take it elsewhere, they went down (a little). I was mainly focused on diagnosing the reason why the vehicle was in limp mode and finding the coolant leak (I had been topping off the coolant for months). They called me and said the diagnostic was a thermostat housing, and also said I purchased the wrong size front brake pads, and I will have to pay them for the parts for the correct pads. Fine. I did. They said they would return my pads that were the wrong size and place them in the trunk (they didn't give them back and they aren't in the trunk). They then told me the car was in limp mode because there is an alternator problem. We called the shop that had just repaired the alternator a year ago (it was still in the warranty timeframe) together, and decided on a plan that the other shop would come and pick up the alternator and repair it and deliver it back. I received a call after the brakes and thermostat housing was replaced saying they had no room for my car, and that I would have to drive it myself or pay for a tow to the alternator shop. This is wild after I had just paid them $1000 for a thermostat housing and brake and rotor replacement. The alternator shop was in disbelief that Mike and Mike's asked me to do this, and told me specifically not to drive it over 40mph, do not use any electronics (no radio or headlights, no a/c) and keep it slow and steady. This was a long drive at 6am from Pelham to downtown Birmingham on Highway 31 in the RAIN. Once at the alternator shop, they checked the car, and laughed, "that's an old code from when the alternator was originally repaired, your car is fine". It's been month since I've gotten my vehicle back. The coolant reservoir is completely empty and the leak wasn't repaired like I was told. I am SUPER Disappointed with the quality of work (or lack there of). They seem to try to nickel and dime me a lot, and I am not down for that. For a woman, I have a pretty good basic knowledge of vehicles. I have only driven the car 4 times since I got it back. I will be taking my dollars elsewhere.

My parents told them to go ahead and fix it, once the truck was back it sat for about a month until i drove it. I knew the front rotors were warped before they took it in for service and I was a surprised to find out that the rotors were still warped, even after they supposedly did a brake job. I checked the invoice and realized that the tech quoted a pad slap (front and rear) and didn't recommend replacing or even resurfacing the rotors. I also checked the old brake pads and found that they still had 4 to 5 mm of material left and were not in immediate need of replacement. I was expecting to look at the invoice and see a proper brake job that at least included turning the rotors. As a technician myself I'm extremely disappointed in the service we received, i expected better service and communication.

I then took the car to Jack's Garage and let Sandy drive it down the road and back. He got out shaking his head and chuckling at the dealership's assessment. I didn't need a new transmission, just a new clutch. Jack's Garage did the repair for $1,200 in the same amount of time that the dealership took to run their "diagnostics" I paid $200 for. Now my car runs better than it has in a long time. I just wish I could have used the $200 I gave to Tameron and given it to Sandy's team to have them do the actual repair of the actual problem. After a family member left an honest, critical 1-star review regarding a pricing dispute at the counter, the owner retaliated by using their internal customer database to publicly post our family's last name, our exact vehicle year/make/model, and our vehicle's mileage. Exposing proprietary data online to punish a customer for an unfavorable rating directly violates Google's Maps User Content Policies against personal data disclosure. Furthermore, while the corporate Mr. Transmission Privacy Policy notes that individual locations handle local transactions, corporate explicitly states they can penalize franchisees who engage in "inappropriate online conduct". My wife and I had used another mechanic I implicity trusted for many years ago before moving to Shelby county but with their location now over 30 miles away, I have always used other mechanics in the area. I can say without a doubt this is the BEST local vehicle repair shop I have done business with since we moved here over 23 years ago. I had to bring the car in to have some rear brake pads put on after another local mechanic told me last week the pads were "worn out". The mechanic at Patriot informed me that the rear pads did need to be replaced soon but were not in as bad shape as the mechanic last week had insinuated. I told him to go ahead and replace the rear pads. I was going to have to stay with the vehicle today bc I had no other form of transportation, so I figured with ordering the parts and then having them put on, I would be there most of the day. They had the job completed in two hours time! Price was very reasonable. The staff was very nice and professional, too. We have found our new auto repair shop. If you're looking for a professional, honest and reasonably priced auto repair place, Patriot is what you need! :)

But my last exerience was one that I cannot help but be infuratied by. I had an issue where my 2012 Highlander AC went out in July and it was $2700.00 to fix. So I agreed and they did the work. When I took the car in the heater worked fine and prior to the AC going out the temperature control worked without any issues. They "fixed" the AC and it blew ice cold which was great for July. I noticed immediately that you couldn't regulate the temperature at all but life was busy and in hindsight I should have turned right around and took it back in. Fast forward two months when I had a blowout, I took it back in and alerted them to the issue's (no temp control and heater is out). They mulled it over and said it was a completely different issue and wanted another $2700. If they had test run the system after "fixing" the AC, they would have noticed something was off. Or maybe they did and just pushed it out anyways? They claim to warrenty their work but that didn't hold up here either. No attempt whatsoever to meet me in the middle. Nothing except a "sorry, completely different issue so another $2700.00". Not a good look Rob'e Man's.
