I found Halcyon on Yelp while looking for a coffee shop where I could get some work done, and it was a great find! The food and coffee were both really good, and the atmosphere is hip, relaxed, and perfect for hanging out or working for a bit. They also have their own parking lot, which is always a plus. I'd definitely come back! Please note there is music playing if you're WFH.
Still one of my favorite locations to co-work or snuggle up with a book in Lower Greenville! Their breakfast burritos are affordable and FILLING!
Well planned and spacious location. For a Wednesday afternoon the place was packed, and still somehow had a manageable noise level. I tried one of the coffee cocktails, I didn't particularly enjoy the drink, but that wouldn't deter me from returning to try something different, if I'm in the area.
Came here after church because we heard it was a solid breakfast spot, and it lived up to the hype. The service was amazing and genuinely friendly. Our waitress popped up out of nowhere and scared us a little -- I told her she was a ninja because I didn't even see her coming. She just laughed and kept the good energy going the whole time. The orange juice was good -- not my absolute favorite, but still refreshing. I ordered the skillet and my partner went with the breakfast burrito. Both were solid choices and full of flavor. We customized each dish a bit, and they came out exactly how we wanted, which is always appreciated. The whole place has a cool, relaxed vibe. You can tell it's the kind of spot people actually enjoy hanging out in. They even do date night Fridays with a movie and hot chocolate, which we definitely want to come back and try. Feels like a fun little neighborhood tradition waiting to happen. Only thing to keep in mind -- there's no designated parking, so if you find a spot, grab it quick. Other than that, great breakfast, great service, and a place we'll be revisiting for sure.
We came for Trivia Night! They offer trivia on Saturday nights at both 8:30pm and 9:30pm. We arrived around 7:45pm and perused the drink menu. We both decided on caffeine instead of cocktails tonight, but their cocktail menu looked delicious! The gentleman manning the bar was really helpful in answering questions and getting us started. Both got 160z lattes, plain, his with oat milk and mine with almond milk. They were served in for-here ceramic mugs. The temperature and taste were both perfect. We had an absolute blast competing in trivia night and thought the emcee did a wonderful job. We wished we could have stayed for the second game, but needed to get home. The ambiance of the place was much more spacious than we expected. There were a mix of high-top tables, booths, low top chair tables, comfortable chairs and I think I saw a couch too. The music was just the right volume to be able to study or carry on a conversation. We agreed, we will absolutely be back for Trivia Night, but will also come back for the coffee, relaxing vibe and great service.
If you're looking for a spot that actually nails the "coffee by day, cocktails by night" transition, Halcyon is it. It's got that airy, high-ceiling energy that's perfect for getting work done without feeling like you're trapped in a cubicle. The Vibe: It's cool without trying too hard. You'll see local art on the walls and plenty of natural light. By day, it's a laptop paradise with lo-fi beats; by night, the lights dim, the music picks up, and the patio becomes the place to be--especially if you have a dog in tow. Happy Hour (3 PM - 7 PM Daily): This is the real draw. Their Espresso Martini is a local legend, but the Chocolate Espresso Martini is the move if you want something decadent. If you're there on a Tuesday, they run happy hour prices all night. Don't sleep on the $5 pimento grilled cheese--it's the ultimate "I'm not that hungry but I need a snack" food. The People: Expect a very "Lower Greenville" crowd: a mix of productive millennials, SMU students with headphones on, and groups of friends sharing s'mores kits (yes, you can roast them at your table). The staff is laid-back and friendly, though they definitely stay hustling during the weekend brunch rush. Bottom line: It's reliable, unpretentious, and arguably the best spot on the block to switch from a latte to a lager without changing seats.
Wonderful staff. This is an amazing shop. Coffee shop by day and bar by night. It's perfect for a long day of studying or doing work or enjoying the night with friends. Great espresso martinis and amazing food. Beautiful interior and outdoor seating. Parking is sometimes full cause of how amazing this space is and its location. Very cute and open spaced coffee shop with a bar and patio seating. I got the Thai iced coffee and thought it was decent. Their cocktails were pretty good and they do have happy hour from 3-7 pm. Also they have food!! Portion sizes were pretty big. I recommend the hummus and nacho tots! Service was good, coffee came out pretty fast.
I frequent Halcyon because it is such a great place to get some work done during the day. It's a very cozy lounge with multiple outlets so you can plug in your electronics. I've ordered a bunch of things on the menu but my favorite is the mimosa flight that they have. The service is okay to me, the people at the front are not always the friendliest unfortunately but I just order and keep it pushing. The only con is the parking!!!! The lot is shared by multiple businesses so that can be annoying if you don't come on time.
The inside is spacious with plenty of different seating options, which is great depending on the mood I'm in. I also love all the natural lighting. My burrito was bigger than what I was expecting, and it automatically came with hot sauce, which was a nice touch. I enjoyed my coffee, but next time I'll ask for it half sweet since it was a little too sweet for me. Besides that, they also host events that are worth checking out, so I definitely recommend giving this place a try.
I got the vegan breakfast burrito with a side of potatoes, and the person I was dining with got the salmon avocado toast. The burrito was very good and I loved the salsa! The potatoes were also great. The salmon avocado toast was interesting, though, because the bread wasn't toasted. It wasn't bad, though!
Very overpriced. Burrito bowl is basically just rice. Not sure how they get away with this, I'm hungry. If you love eating empty carbs with no nutritional value, this place is for you!
Be it beast-moding at the bar, a yap with a friend or grabbing a nightcap, this place has been the ole jaunt for a minute. Vibes are modern meets spice- geometric shapes with pops of color. Flyers for upcoming events boasts wine and succulents, movie nights, Girl Dinner and more. So, there's community support. Order at the counter and get a numbered sign. They have menus on the wall and laminated options. Breaky is served till a decent time (check the website for final hours). Music played overhead is always uptempo and appreciated. The place is spacious: boasting booths, high tables, and chairs for one-on-ones. Plus, there's seating outdoors. The dish wear is giving fancy aunt. Plenty of caffeinated options (fyi: the chai latte has the most!) , smoothies, and noms. Drinks: the flight options are a blast. See my photos for suggestions. I've tried it all. The trickiest part is finding parking. If it's around lunch time, most weekdays, there are surrounding lots. Once school lets out/weekend, there are challenges. There's valet across the street. Mind the parking signage once you get into the residential neighborhoods. Enjoy!
A multipurpose spot for sure! This is a great place to study or get some work done, but it's also good for a date or just grab something on the go. The menu has more than your typical coffee shop fare, with items like mac and cheese and loaded tots. They also have a full bar with friendly staff. read more

I come here often and usually love what I order, the country style Benny. But today it was terrible, chicken is as thick as a dime and extremely difficult to cut. I basically ate egg biscuit and chicken skin. Extremely disappointing. I would've said something but I was working and didn't notice until I was halfway through the first one. Only reason I'm not giving a 1 star for what's usually is a 5 star experience is because the customer service is always so good. read more

When my group chose this place for brunch, I did think about the parking and if it would be an issue. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant, just be aware, towards the breakfast/lunch hour, parking can be tricky. Thankfully, I have a smaller car, so I was able to squeeze into a spot in the parking lot. Upon walking in, you're greeted by the openness and a cute little bar. The seating at the bar reminded of me of the old school ice cream shop counters, it was really cute. They had a section for those who wanted more of the coffee house feel, and they had little stations where you could work and eat/drink. I was there with a group for brunch, our waiter was efficient and friendly. He was wonderful with making selections, to help with deciding what I wanted to eat. Elvis French Toast: Amazing! The perfect amount of peanut butter, bananas, bacon, and a drizzle of syrup. If you're a French toast type of person, may I suggest this, it is delicious. Mango Chili Mimosa: This was also very good, and very well made. The bar tender did not skimp on the alcohol, that's for sure. As we were paying our tickets, they had our totals on a tablet. Always ask for a receipt before paying your bill. I'll take this loss, because I did not ask for those things before paying. What I purchased should have cost $20, but instead he gave me the total of $35. I was in the middle of talking and doing other things, I just paid it. I did ask what was on my bill and it should have been $20, not including the gratuity. He left, then came back and said it was adjusted, but it wasn't. He overcharged me by $10, outside of my bill and gratuity. I ended up calling the restaurant and was able to speak to the manager, she was there that same morning and was able to pull my ticket. After pulling my ticket, she said I was charged for two drinks. She offered a refund and apologized for the confusion, I appreciated that. She also mentioned, when paying cash you get a discount, I wasn't given that information when I did use cash. Overall, I would suggest this place for those who are looking for a brunch spot. This is a great choice, just make sure you get a receipt before paying your bill. read more

I came to Halcyon on Monday around 7:30pm, and had the best experience ever! The environment is laidback and comfortable, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. There's no rush by the staff, even when it was nearing closing. They gave us plenty of time to look at the menu, and promptly took our orders whenever we were ready. In the meantime, we sat down at the comfiest couch and relaxed while enjoying time together. Couldn't give this place enough stars if I wanted to! read more

This is definitely a go to spot on Greenville. Great for brunches or if you want to catch up on some work at a coffee shop that serves spirits. They have one of the best chicken and waffles I've had in the city. The waffle is really fluffy and the friend chicken is seasoned really well and tender. It also has bacon on top that is fried perfectly. Drinks are pretty standard. We ate on the patio as it was a very pretty day outside, but inside is a cool vibe, too. Parking here can be a bit of a hassle. The parking lot can get full really quickly, so then you'll have to do street parking. The service is good here too, they have nice staff that fit the feel of the establishment. No one here taking themselves too seriously to ruin the experience. read more

This is the easiest review I've ever had to make. I went to have breakfast with my wonderful girlfriend who recommended Halcyon and their breakfast. She says everything I would say, only better! "My boyfriend and I decided to have a breakfast date one morning, and we decided to have breakfast at Halcyon! I've always loved their breakfast so I was excited to go. The baristas that greeted me when I first got there were so kind and upbeat! They really make you feel welcomed and had good recommendations. I started out with a London Fog and he got a seasonal latte (honey, jasmine maybe?) and we loved our drinks! They even completed it by letting me take animal crackers to go with my tea. For food, we split the Fried Egg Sandwich and it was amazing! The sandwich was huge and was perfect for feeding 2 people. Adding avocado was definitely worth it! It also came with campfire potatoes which were seasoned nicely and were delicious! (It's my favorite thing about breakfast here). My boyfriend ate one potato piece and I kid you not immediately decided we would need more, so he went and ordered another side! Delicious. Overall, it was a great experience in a beautiful space. We will be back!" My drink was the Jasmine Delight (honey, jasmine, and oatmilk). It's seasonal and will be gone by the end of the month so hurry to Halcyon to try it (it's SOO good!!) read more

A cute spot on Greenville Ave with nice outdoor seating. They have a simple brunch menu with decent prices. The skillets aren't huge and nothing super special, but the sourdough and jam they come with are really yummy. Our waitress was very nice and the service wasn't bad for how busy it was. read more

The aesthetic of place is amazing! Love the vibe! Everyone there is was just so happy. I ordered an iced latte rosemary latte with oat milk which was incredibly delicious. I also noticed that they have a vegan benedict!!! I will definitely be back for that. We found a spot on the couch while we waited for my drink and then headed outside to enjoy what turned out to be a beautiful day. The patio area is spacious and pet friendly. Overall, I loved Halcyon! I'm glad there's places like this that have a little bit of everything for everyone. Want to sit and work or read? Come here. Want a place to catch up with a friend and get a cocktail or coffee? Come here! I looked up the entire menu and it seems inclusive for everyone, which is always a plus in my book! read more

Good food, good service. Only reason they didn't get a five star had nothing to do with them but kinda did, pesky flies and bad parking. The parking lot had car damaging holes. In all, I would go back and I recommend this place. read more

Halcyon I feel is really underrated for Brunch! There is plenty of seating for both dine-in customers and those who are coming in to get some work/studying done. The venue offers light music to set a warm and inviting environment. There is an extensive brunch menu, from the chicken + waffles staple, breakfast burritos, bowls, and more. You can pair any of the brunch entrees with the numerous cocktails and coffee items. We had the chicken + waffles (of course) and wow! The chicken has a thin and crispy crust, but is incredibly juicy center. The waffles was fairly thick and has a slight crunch to it even with the syrup. Thin and crispy bacon, strawberries, and powdered sugar top the entree off nicely. Can't go wrong with this item. The chorizo burrito will leave you satisfied as it is filled with a healthy portion of egg, chorizo, cheese, potatoes, alongside a flavorful and slightly spicy salsa. Definitely a fan of Halcyon! Love love love this place! My new favorite hang out spot for sitting to read for a little bit. There aren't too many spacious coffeehouses that have dine-in an amazing menu of good eats and variety of hot drinks. What I found very touching was that there are signs on the spots that have a laminated sign that says "sanitized" so you know the spot you're about to sit at has been wiped down for seating. Since it was my first time being here, I asked the cashier what she recommends and got the egg wrap with sausage. Totally was massive and full of flavor! She was right! I had to take 1/2 of it home and what is nice is that they use paper boxes for takeout. It was a bit drizzly out so I got a cup of earl grey tea and it hit the spot really, kept me warm while I did a little work. Halcyon makes brunching easy with thier variety of delicious Egg Benedicts and delightful Mix & Match Mimosa Flights. I went with the Old Texas Benedict loaded with brisket, black beans, and avocados. Definitely was a tasty dish Inwould get again. They can cater to all the gluten-free foodies by swapping out the biscuits for GF toast. So filling!! . . . Covid Precautions: Nothing above & beyond. Staff is wearing gloves & masks, utilizing digital menus, and spacing out guest. We sat on the patio, which is a bit small so call ahead if you are interested in outdoor dining only. read more

It was a perfect day to sit outside so we def wanted a restaurant with patio seating. We really enjoyed this place because they had games for you to play while you wait for your food. We played Uno and you know how that can get crazy. For food we ordered the classic scramble that came with ham, bacon, sausage, onions, tomatoes all the good stuff and a Smoked salmon Benedict. Mai tai cocktail and a classic mimosa. I would recommend this place especially after a night out. read more

Love Dallas but sometimes it's hard to find affordable yet tasty food and drinks. Halcyon was exactly that. Great drinks all 12 bucks or less. Food was also very affordable. Got the pancakes, southwest skillet, and a side of biscuits. Everything was amazing except the sourdough that came with the skillet. It seemed like it had been toasted an hour ago and was cold/borderline stale. That's my only complaint. Check it out if you want a good brunch with a fun atmosphere. read more
