15. Gyro and Falafel Wrap
Tiffany O.

Who would know a little food truck outside of a gas station would be so delicious?? Hefty servings and very authentic. I will definitely come back here :)

It is an amazing go-to during the week, providing high-quality food, extended hours, and quick service! I typically order the chicken over rice since it is so delicious. The quantity of food is just right, the white rice is well made, the chicken is marinated perfectly, and the white sauce is to die for! The salad is also a nice addition to the meal. For roughly $12, the price is worth it. The staff is always very kind and quick to make the food. I usually call ahead to let them know that I am coming so I have a shorter wait time. Unfortunately, the location is not safe and very sketchy. Recently I have seen more police nearby which makes me feel more safe. The food and the convenience are so good that I do not want to deduct a star. Highly recommend!

Excellent food! I typically order lunch for our office executives, which I did today. Everyone thought it was to die for and now we'll likely have this on our list of local lunch options. Several of us ordered the gyro on rice and the sauces that come with it are amazing. Others ordered the chicken wrap and enjoyed it as well.

Man, Halal Hub is too good! This spot really grew on me after the first time. So simple yet so good. Quality rice, delicious proteins and an amazing white sauce and red sauce to pour over it all. Everything here is good, chicken is extremely tender and delicious. I order the lamb shawarma quite a lot with extra meat just because it is so good and I like a lot of protein. Meats are flavorful and rice compliments them so expertly. Salad is refreshing, lacking a bit of flavor but I find mixing it in with rice and having white sauce with it seems to be the best way to enjoy it. People who run the truck are very nice and food comes out quick every time. My girlfriend and I eat here almost once a week and for the price we love this slightly healthier treat for an impromptu meal. Only downside to this place is the area is pretty sketchy especially at night. Keep that in mind but often there are cops around which is nice. I couldn't bring myself to deduct a star because of this though because this place truly provides delicious meal every time and I am grateful for their business.

My sister and I placed an order for pick-up as a Friday night treat before watching Rings of Power. We each ordered a #2 Gyro Over Rice (lamb/beef mix), as well as an order of pita, baklava, double meat, and Baba Ghanouj. This location is a stationary food truck located outside of a spirits (liquor) store. Unfortunately, I do not recommend the location at night as it felt a bit unsafe and there were a lot of people milling around. Parking was easy enough and the area had very easy access as it is located on the corner. After picking up our food and coming home, everything had been very neatly organized and nothing was missing, etc. A successful food pick up! The food was decent but nothing to really excite the tastebuds, unfortunately. The meat was delicious, but that was really the only part that felt worth it to me. The baklava was not very flavorful, the Baba Ghanouj was incredibly oily and lacked any kind of flavor - I ended up seasoning it at home to make it have a taste. The pita was fairly standard. As an aside, the "white sauce" mostly tasted like a buttermilk or ranch sauce and the red sauce just tasted extremely spicy/hot, but otherwise my palette was not refined enough to pick up any other flavors. I'd probably come back for a main meal, but wouldn't add anything extra to my order. And would plan to have another sauce on hand - although I enjoyed the main meal just fine without any sauce.

There can be a line on the weekends and they tend to sell out so keep that in mind. The staff is friendly and service is quick!

I had the Migas taco and the La Reyna taco. Both were excellent. I loved the veggies combination on the La Reyna taco. I would want to stop in and eat these every week if I lived in Austin. And the hot sauce was on point, both the green and the red. My husband had the Grilled Fish taco and the Grilled Steak taco. He couldn't decide which he liked better, but mentioned that the steak itself had amazing flavor. Do yourself a favor: free up two hours on your day off; order some tacos; order a Desnudo coffee or matcha or hibiscus tea and enjoy the tree-shaded outdoor dining area while you wait for some truly outstanding tacos.

This tastes like it came straight out of someone's granny's kitchen in SPAIN. D E L I C I O U S. The menu isn't all vegan, but they've done an incredible job offering both traditional and vegan versions without losing any soul. Am I in heaven? Yes. The owner makes it a point to connect with customers, which was refreshing. You can tell this is passion-driven. You order via QR code at your table, then pick up out back when it's ready--easy. Everything is prepped daily in a Commercial kitchen and finished on the truck, and he proudly shared that the ingredients, spices, even the meats are sourced from Spain. Vegan paella? Incredible. Patatas bravas with vegan aioli? My personal favorite, sooo good. My husband loved the jamón serrano sandwich. And whatever you do, don't skip the sourdough rye with tomato spread. They also mix in a few Belgian items to match the bar, which adds to the whole European vibe. I already need to go back for the vegan fideuà and bombas..they were sold out, which tells you everything. The croquetas and bravas are the best in Austin - better than Kalimotxo, San Gines, and El Raval. They were extremely delicious and the perfect texture and size. I sat down yesterday to eat a $13 lunch special: brown stew chicken, rice and peas, steamed…read morecabbage, and plantain, and bit into a piece of chicken that was refrigerator cold. Not lukewarm. Cold. I bit it a second time because I genuinely couldn't believe it. Meanwhile, the rice was so hot it was still visibly steaming from what I can only assume was a microwave, drowned in a watery gravy I never asked for, next to the old cabbage with solidified liquid. I brought the plate back to the counter, explained the chicken was refrigerator cold, and asked them to reheat it. I'm writing this today with an upset stomach. I wish I could say this was a one-time issue. It's not. I've been trying this restaurant, on and off, for over 15 years, and I kept giving them chance after chance because I wanted so badly for it to be good. I first met the owner when he ran a food truck, before the restaurant existed. I was excited; there weren't many Jamaicans in Austin at the time, and I was happy to support one. The rice and peas was so bad I threw the plate away. Years later, I tried the restaurant location. I ordered curry goat, took it to my car, and found the meat flavorless, fatty, and poorly trimmed; basically inedible. I threw it away in the parking lot. I later ordered oxtail through Uber Eats: flavorless again, poorly prepped meat, and an actual rock in the rice and peas. I tried introducing the child to Jamaican food with one of their beef patties, and it was dry and flavorless. Yesterday I ordered the "safest" thing on the menu, brown stew chicken, specifically because I no longer trust myself to spend real money on anything more ambitious here. I still got food that had clearly been microwaved and reheated unevenly, served with a piece of chicken that was still cold. Are we really selling microwaved leftovers out of an established restaurant with a huge kitchen? Jamaican food is something our culture takes real pride in. This restaurant has had a decade and a half to get it right, and instead I've watched it consistently cut corners on seasoning, on prep, and now on basic food safety. I don't say this lightly: if you want real Jamaican food, this isn't where you'll find it, and depending on the day, what you're served may not even be handled safely.
