For appetizers I had fried halloumi cheese, and they were the most amazing thing ever we also tried their mixed grill. Meet was flavorful and tender, kebab with creamy garlic and tahini sauce was so delicious. Also their portions are big!! Restaurant itself has a great vibe with plants, tree, zaatar and olive oil on the table and the server was very polite. Will surely visit again!

Lesson learned: if you're going with a group, make sure you have your final number when making the reservation because adding someone later may not be possible. We started with the Mezzi Filistini, a mixed platter of babaganoush, muhammara, tabbouleh, salata, tahini and labneh. This was very good, and we tackled it with zest, devouring it with the accompanying pita bread. We also ordered the falafel, chicken shawarma platter and beef kebab platter. The chicken shawarma was decent, but I would have loved more chicken and bigger pieces. There was considerably more rice than chicken, which made the platter feel a little unbalanced. The beef kebab was better, with a good portion of meat and rice, and the accompanying vegetables weren't too bad either. One disappointment for me was the lack of a proper hot sauce. Something with a little heat and flavor would have paired really well with both the shawarma and kebab and, for me, would have elevated the meal. Overall, the food was good and the ambiance was pleasant. Service was also good for the most part, although I was disappointed that we weren't asked if we were interested in dessert before wrapping up the meal. Al Badawi is probably a place I would try again, but not one I'm in a rush to return to anytime soon.

The star of the show were the sides though - the mac and cheese had a bit of spice to it and was slightly tomato based, and the mashed potato salad I LITERALLY wrote home about and told my mom and my aunt immediately, some of the best I've ever had. We decided to take the Ikea ferry over and grab some bbq in person. The line was long and we waited for about 45 minutes or more. Basically there's just two guys working the meat station and people seem to wait until it's their turn to make a decision on what to order. We for the pastrami bacon strip, the wings, the Frito pie, brisket, mac and cheese, and potato salad. It was pretty reasonably priced and the food rust we couldn't immediately pick up, came to us relatively quickly. There's no shortage of seats and you have many options of picnic tables or bars. I would say the food is overall decent. The brisket could be more moist. The wings were meaty but a bit bland without the ranch. The Frito pie was probably my favorite out of everything. Overall a fun experience. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon with a free ferry ride to Red Hook.

My daughter checked it out but she didn't have socks to play so she stayed at the table with us. For appetizers, we ordered the dumplings (so cute and delicious), the pancakes and the pizza. The pizza was mediocre. For our entrees I had the shrimp avocado salad and my husband got the gosht burger. Our entrees were really tasty. We also got a side of fries for our daughter which we didn't really have to order. It is a little pricey but look at their location! When we got the bill we were charged $10 for the play place. I asked for it to be removed because my daughter didn't really play there and didn't have socks so our waitress removed it. It's not a big playground area and how long can kids really ply there if they're there for the restaurant? They charge $10 on weekday and $15 on weekends.

The burger was great though alittle small. I enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and the grilled chicken cutlets were soft. Overall, a decent meal. Definitely a nice place to patronize for a nice meal.

The staff member who took my order warned me that it would be spicy, but I thought it was quite manageable (or perhaps she made it non-spicy) but overall I thought the flavor was quite bold and the bite-sized lamb made it easy to scoop up with the bread.
