I send my husband here almost every time he goes to 8th avenue to get mochi. These mochi are the best in all of NYC. I think you can only get better if you can make it better yourself! Their tofu pudding is excellent as well as their soy milk. Their taro cake is a little dense and on the salty side but also good. I wish I had a place like this up in Flushing! Bring cash.

I like coming here so that I don't have to deal with getting up at 9:30 AM to secure a table at one of the banquet halls in 8th ave/Chinatown, but can still practice my Hoisan Wah which is the lingua franca here. The ladies are still temperamental as ever, but I like that challenge -- jook sing beware, if you try English, they'll gossip behind your back, but try your tongue at Chinese and you'll be rewarded with smiles and warmth at maintaining cultural ties to the motherland. This was probably my 6th visit, and the first in a few years, but the dimsum was still as consistent as ever. The baos are still high quality and the line is still as busy as ever, which I take as a good sign. If you're in the area and don't want the fuss of chasing down dimsum carts, try out Good Family Bakery.

Some of my go to items are their shrimp rice rolls, fried shrimp balls, mung bean zongzi, and century egg and pork congee. This location is super popular with residents of Ave U and is a bustling location. In addition to delicious dim sum, they have a wide variety of breads and cakes as well! Their service is typical of any other Chinese Bakery. They essentially want to take your order as quick as possible which is understandable since there's usually a line of people waiting to order. For some people, that might come off as rude. It's probably best to have what you want in mind before you reach the front of the line! From what I saw, this place does seem like they are cash only much like other chinese bakeries. I'd come back to try other dim sums and breads!

I would recommend all of their products; everything is very fresh and made well. The tofu pudding seems to be inconsistent. I've had it when it is super silky and smooth but also when it's gritty and not good at all. Overall, it's good and you should give it a try if you enjoy tofu pudding. The soy milk is also excellent! Service: Service is okay, nothing special. Ambiance: The place is a very small corner shop with no seating. All of their products are either in the refrigerator, lined up on tables along the window or behind the counter. The line is long during busy times because it's a popular place. Overall, I would recommend this place!

Recently tried the scallion pancake with popcorn chicken along with the steamed shrimp rice roll…read more The shrimp rice roll was decent--the rice roll itself was soft, fresh, and had a great texture. However, the shrimp didn't taste particularly fresh, which took away from the dish a bit. I also asked for peanut sauce, which many restaurants provide complimentary with rice rolls, but was charged extra for it. Not a huge deal, but it was a bit of a bummer. As for the scallion pancake with popcorn chicken, it was somewhat bland and a bit dry. To be fair, that was somewhat expected, and while I believe there was sauce inside, I couldn't really taste much of it. The portion was reasonable, but the flavor just didn't stand out for me. Overall, the meal wasn't bad, but if I come back in the future, I'd probably stick with the steamed rice rolls and try some of their other offerings instead.

Adored the milk bread and pistachio crisp pastry; loved every chewy bite. I couldn't care less about the puffy looking items such as the pumpkin and matcha buns; there is more air than ingredients on the inside. The cocktail bun was surprisingly decent, and would go so well with a cup of coffee or tea. The dimsum experience was average considering I had something that was spoiled. I'm being generous with the stars since it's a newly opened place. The service is still stellar. The dining area is welcoming. There is quite a bit of foot traffic despite being the train station is across the street but at least it's right in front of the bus stop. And before I end this, let me wrap it up by declaring this bakery have the best HK milk tea in NYC!

A quick look at the menu yields the usual suspects found on fast food Korean menus: kalbi over rice and bulgogi sandwich. However, what intrigued me was the fried udon, which I ended up ordering. The chef stir fried a pack of white udon noodles with sliced cabbage and carrots, adding sesame oil, soy sauce and oyster sauce. I was pretty happy when the tourists walking by murmured, "That smells so good." As a Yelper, you have to love "food envy". I added on extra beef and when I received my order, I was pleasantly surprised by the weight. Seemed like a great bargain for $8. I settled back at my apartment and started my feast. The dish was packed with udon, rice, bulgogi, veggies and three fried dumplings. The dumplings were subpar, but still a nice side dish, acting similar to a breadbasket. It's there for you, but you don't have to eat it. The top was covered with bulgogi and Korean chili sauce, an above average showing for a food cart. The beef is nicely marinated and with the paste had a nice sweet and mildy spicy flavor. The udon noodles were excellent. Fried and cooked with soy sauce and oyster sauce, the noodles had a slight brown tint and smelled amazing The lady also drizzled some aioli sauce and bundled with the veggies gave off a creamy texture. Add to the fact that it's a rare dish to find at a food truck, gives the fried udon even more value. All in all, it seemed like a great and solid cart. Hopefully, Gobuki will stay for a while and the lines will start forming (not sure how it is during prime lunch time). I do have to note that the surface for cooking was rather small, so there could be a production logjam if customers are ordering the fried udon in multiples.

They also offer it in a (baguette) and have bulgoki (with rice or on baguette also), mandu, spicy chicken, and fried udon. Looking forward to the fried udon next time I go there.
