Yeah so two months later I just wanted to update because this haircut has caused me so much stress. I went in for a simple cut to even out my hair and dye the ends to match my roots, which I thought I communicated clearly to the stylist...so I was very upset to see she had taken matters into her own hands and given me (uneven) layers. I figured I'd give it some time and try to style it differently or just wait for it to grow a bit but I can say with certainty that it's not just a different style: the haircut itself was done poorly. The dye lasted maybe three weeks maximum which was really disappointing. I've never had semi-permanent dye last so little (I wash my hair twice a week). The haircut itself looks pretty bad too honestly. I was really excited to grow out my hair and had finally gotten it to my shoulders, so it was very upsetting to see 1) layers and 2) the shortest layer being a solid three inches shorter than my length. My bangs were also cut very unevenly which became obvious when looking at pictures. They've gotten fixed since then, but the rest of the hair....well I'm just frustrated. I'm going to have to cut it back to my chin just to fix the choppiness and unevenness of the haircut. but it makes me sad to be "losing" length I had been growing out for a year and a half. If it had been a cheap haircut I would have been much more understanding, but this salon charges similar rates as mid-high end places for below average service. I would not recommend the stylist I had, though others at the salon might be better! read more

I've been getting my hair cut at hair.comb for years--not sure how many it's been. Jacqui is the stylist I've seen and she does a fantistic job! I have short hair, so I get my hair cut once a month. I'm guessing that Jacqui has cut my hair at least 40 times and she hasn't missed once (OK, I've liked some cuts more than others, but one has to experiment.) I've got difficult hair (fine and wavy) and I can't tell you how many times I was frustrated by bad hair cuts or by a stylist who wouldn't take the time to listen to what I was asking for. Jacqui listens, makes helpful suggestions, cares whether or not I'm happy with the results and is a fun person to boot. The attmosphere of the salon is friendly and casual. Everyone is nice. Anne is great, Misty is great. The prices are extremely reasonable. In short, I highly recommend it. read more

I just realized I've been going here for a year (since I moved to Seattle) and I have to say that Misty is a great hairstylist. I change my hair A LOT and she always comes up with a good cut for each new look. Very good pricing and always on time - plus it is a good location to people watch. After hearing all of the good reviews about this salon I decided to give it a try. I went for a walk in appointment to get my hair colored .( I dont want to name my stylist because I feel bad since she seemed a little timid and young). I naturally have black asian hair and told her I wanted to dye it a noticeable burgundy/auburn color and brought in pictures to show her what I wanted the final result to be and asked her if it would suit my skin tone. She said she thought it would look great and felt reassured that she knew what she was doing and that she understood the look I was going for. But then she went to the back and brought out a color chart and proceeded to ask me what color I wanted to get...like what?? YOU are the professional. I showed you a picture so you should be able to pick out the color. I really had no idea what I was choosing but picked what color I thought looked closest to the picture I brought in. I have extremely long hair (to my hips) and therefore she spent 2 hours putting in the color. It seemed like she was really putting in a lot of time and effort. HOWEVER she applied the color to my roots first and didn't sit me under the dryer. I haven't gone to beauty school but even I know that color develops more with heat so obviously the heat in my scalp would cause the roots to process more. And there was only one dryer at the entire salon and another customer was under it..so my stylist just threw a cap over my head and left. After she rinsed it out my hair was still completely black with a FAINT tint only around my roots. I told her I saw absolutely no difference in my hair and she refuted me saying that there was definitely a burgundy tint and that I should go out into the sunlight so I could see it better. If I spend $95 on a hair color and tell you I want it to be burgundy, I should be able to see it indoors as well! she offered to fix it if i came back by putting a bleach wash through it but I decided to just let it go...Im so dissapointed that she didnt have the common sense to put the right developer/bleach into my hair for the color to show up since my hair is black. Not a single person could even tell I had gotten a hair color and It was a complete waste of my time/money. I don't have any problems with the customer service or staff because she was very understanding when I told her the color wasn;t what I wanted and offered to fix it because she said she wanted me to like my look. however, I felt that she made a pretty rookie mistake and she shouldn't have charged me at all because there was no difference in my hair. so overall, I wouldn't go back again. read more

I've been going to hair.comb since 2002 and am always pleased with the service. All of the staff are friendly and well trained - I usually make my appointments with Jacque, but you can't go wrong with anyone there. From color to cuts to facial waxing, they do it all and do it well at very reasonable prices. Just made some nice upgrades to the salon with new lighting and paint to freshen it up a bit. I have been going to this place ever since a friend recommended it to me. I always get nervous having my hair cut because it's so long and thick and I've had many bad, traumatizing experiences. I have my hair cut by Misty and she does a fantastic job. I was trying to grow my bangs out and it was in that in between phase where you can't really do anything with it, and I brought that concern up and she gave me a cut that gave me some flexibility with what I could do with my bangs and it still looked fine even though my hair is a work in progress right now. I also cut it the day before a wedding, and I NEVER cut my hair before a special event because if it gets messed up you're screwed! But I was confident in Misty's skills and she's always done a great job with my hair especially with how much I have! I bring pictures of celebrities too and she'll tell me if it will work on me or not. I appreciate her input because I don't always know what's best for me. I'm going to continue seeing Misty because I've never had a bad haircut with her! Plus the prices are decent! 25$ for my long thick crazy hair!! Usually people charge me way more when they see how much hair I have! It's great if you're on a budget! read more

After a terrible discount haircut almost 3 months ago, I needed to get rid of the impending mullet. I came in here (at 1pm on a Thursday) and had absolutely no wait time for an awesome haircut! Cuts are only $30, which is a steal. I'll be back, for sure! read more

I've been a customer from the day they opened (10+ years) and won't go anywhere else. My 9 yr old son, 8yr old daughter and I are regulars. The boy and I drive down from north of Seattle at least once a month. The staff is like family and we always get great consistent haircuts. Can't speak for everyone, but if you're a guy looking for a place to get a good cut without a frou frou salon or rolling the dice on who's available at Hair Masters, you need to go to Hair.comb. I came here twice. First time Purple cut my hair. She was very nice and good at communication. I would give her a 4.5 star. Misty got my hair cut the other time. She was working on another customer at the same time so she didn't really spend to much time on me. She put wax on my hair and told me it's done before I thought it's done. I went to this salon for the first time yesterday and it was a huge mistake. The woman murdered my hair and didn't even blow it dry. I chose to try it the first place because of the reasonable price, but now I will have to pay a whole lot more to get it fixed anyway. Perhaps the other stylists know what they're doing or will listen to you but the exceptionally thin stylist who's name begins with an R (can't remember) is nice but incompetent. Really, my hair now looks like I have split ends all around my face and my bangs look like my 8 year old niece cut them. I got good haircut from Rebecca the other day, but this time, I was disappointed when I got the color service from the other lady (I forgot her name, just a lady with long and frizzy hair.) I don't know what she ways thinking, but my hair was just terrible. She didn't dye my hair evenly, so it looks all uneven everywhere on my hair. It seemed like she didn't know how to color. I found hair.comb here on yelp and decided to give it a shot. I am very particular about who cuts my hair, so I was a bit nervous. However, having just moved to Seattle, I had no choice but to go to a place I had never tried and trust in the positive reviews on yelp. I was very pleased with hair.comb. I had Lindsey, and she was just fantastic. She gave me an awesome haircut and was also really hilarious which is a total bonus. I am glad I trusted the positive reviews here on Yelp and tried it out. I went in and got my hair cut by Misty. She wasn't much for small talk, which is fine by me because I'm definitely not one for it. But she didn't even exchange the pleasantries like "Oh hi I'm Misty I'll be cutting your hair today blah blah" which came off a bit rude. Then I asked her for the same hairstyle I currently had (lots of layers starting about 3 inches from the bottom and shaped in a V in the back) and about 3-4 inches off. She even asked me where on my body I wanted my hair to end and I showed her. What I got in the end was neither of those things. She cut about 7 inches off and I ended with a completely different hairstyle (about 1 layer 1.5 inches up from the bottom and a "bob" style vs the V). She didn't even give me a mirror to look at the back of my hair so I had no idea how off it was until I got home. It's not a terrible cut, just not one I wanted. My hair doesn't do well with little layers and as a bob because it's so thick that the bottom looks extra thick when they all fall at one length. Of course you're given a week to come back and get things fixed but I am just scared she'll just mess it up more. I think I read a similar review about Misty doing the exact same thing to a girl with thick hair. I'm thinking she just doesn't know how to cut thicker hair. read more
