Wow. I just had a service call that was exactly what I want from a contractor. A++. Fast service: I called H-Point at 9:30am. He was at my house by 10:30am for an estimate. Cost effective: He told me the problem was best fixed with some caulk, and rather than spend money paying him to do it, I should just caulk it myself. He walked me through how to fix the leak myself and then simply left. Wait, what? Yep, he showed up, climbed all around my house, listened to my concerns, thoughts, and whatevers, took his best guess at what my problem was, told me how to fix it myself, and then left without charging me a dime. He also told me my roof was in terrific shape. I had been worried the leak was in a specific spot that suffers from some weird discoloration, but he checked that spot, told me it was fine (his word was actually excellent) and that I shouldn't let anyone bully me into getting that spot fixed. I'll call him if his solution doesn't work, but as for now, I feel great about having H-Point come to my house. He listened, he really looked at the problem, and he came up with a great solution for me (although not so great for him.) He was also very non-threatening and, as a single girl, I felt totally fine having him alone in my house with me. My only word of warning: Dude has the thickest accent in creation. He's very hard to understand. However, it is way worth struggling through his accent to get an estimate from him. He spends time to explain everything, and perhaps gives more information than I actually needed (with jokes) so it was a bit of an effort to know what he was saying. However, worth it! He earned every one of these five stars and I wish I could give him more. When I do need more complicated roof repair, he'll be the first person I call. read more

So after about an hour of searching on Yelp of any companies, I fell upon H-Point Roofing. Yes, he has an accent, but I really didn't mind that. What I did mind is him hanging up on me TWICE... So I literally just got off the phone, well let me rephrase that, he hung up on me....twice. Once I asked if I could get an estimate on a roof/ceiling, he told me to call a general contractor and hung up. At the first call, I thought it was just because one of our phones had bad service so I called him back telling him "oh, my phone probably had a call fail." and he replied saying "....oh." Then I explained to him that my roof is leaking and told me he was busy & hung up on me AGAIN. Regardless if any company cannot do the work or do not want to deal with a customer, you DO NOT hang up on people. That's ridiculously rude. read more

excellent job from my own client. I was sun's business client manager for a few years until i actually needed roof work done myself. Knowing him personally helped me trust him more but sun's a great guy that wont bullshit about his work. He gave me an estimate and told me he could go the cheaper way but there was no way of knowing how long that'll stand up in a few years. This company is currently working on a building down the street from me. (I saw their sign) There are no cones, tape or scaffolding up, yet there are large chunks of tar and debris falling from the roof onto the sidewalk everywhere. I was showered by it. What type of company operates this way, putting the public at risk? After calling the number and speaking with a man names Sun, who barely spoke english, he told me he was sorry and that I should give him another chance. ?? WHAT?? Another chance at what? Recently, I just bought a fixer upper and I had Sun take a look at the roof, bc I knew it needed work. He took the time to explain the benefits of having a new roof put in, instead of patching it and hoping it would last. I had 3 other estimates done but decided to go with Hpoint because they seemed to be honest and knowledgeable and I felt comfortable about them doing the work right. They didn't have the cheapest of the quotes, but i'm glad they did the job. 5 stars for finishing the job on time and cleaning up all the debris afterwards! Hassle free and great work! I diidn't hire Sun to fix my roof. You wanna know why? He was the only roofer out of the FIVE I called that correctly diagnosed that I did NOT have a roof leak. The condensation pan in my HVAC unit in the attic was leaking. He looked on my roof and crawled around in my attic to identify this issue. The other four guys wandered around my roof and gave me quotes for over $1000 to "fix the leak". Two of those guys told me I needed a whole new roof. They were very convincing - so beware next time you have a leak in your ceiling. Make sure Sun is on your list of people to call for an estimate. read more

Mr Sun Hong is the owner of H Point Roofing and is the one who comes out to bid your job and is present during all phases of the job to make sure everything is as it should be. He is honest, does what he says he will do when he says he will do it, and is friendly. The Bid: We have a flat roof on a Marina style home in Portola. We had a ceiling leak and needed a new roof. We were also planning on installing solar panels so needed someone who knew what they were doing to make sure there was no leakage around the 20 or so roof penetrations that were required to install the panels and could coordinate with the solar panel company. Mr Hong's bid was not the cheapest, but it also was not the most expensive, of the 5 bids I received. I was sold on his previous reviews, his experience, and his reliability and accessibility. The Job: The job lasted exactly as long as he projected. There was a minor snafu over who was going to provide a cover needed for the penetrations. Mr Hong felt it should have been provided by the solar panel and vice versa. Mr Hong resolved it immediately through his contacts. The crew is polite and cleaned up well afterwards. Follow-up: We also had skylights installed. There was more condensation on these than we had with the previous skylights. Mr Hong came back, inspected, everything and created waterproof vent holes on the lights. This helped (it may also be that it stopped raining, we'll see next January). I have no doubt he will stand by his product and installation. Overall, H Point provided excellent service from start to finish. read more

I cannot recommend H-Point highly enough. I knew that I need a new roof on a newly purchased property, and I already had two bids when I called H-point. I spoke with Sun Hong on the phone, and he was able to come and look at the roof the same day. He was very professional, knowledgeable and inspired confidence immediately when he was gathering info for the bid. His bid was right in line with the other bids that I already had, and it included the cost of potential unseen wood damage that was not included in the other bids. He said that the job would take two days to complete, and that he would be on site to over seeing the project. True to his word, the project was started on a Monday (it was scheduled to start on a Wednesday, but he asked to move it up due to the possibility of rain), and it was finished on Tuesday afternoon. He was there the whole time, and went above and beyond to deliver a top quality job. His crew also did a great job of cleaning up after the project was completed. The roof looks beautiful. My only complaint is that I need a ladder to get up to the roof to look at it. If you need any work done on your roof, this is the company to call. read more

We had our own atmospheric river inside the living room during this recent storm. Understandably, roofing experts were very busy, so I was leaving multiple messages for people when I could even get through. Sun was the only one who called back, almost immediately, and then scheduled an appointment quickly, worked around my schedule, showed up when he said he would and was professional and delightful. He sized up the situation quickly, said we didn't actually need any immediate repairs (it has been a blocked drain on a flat roof causing the problem) gave us some solid advice about moving forward, and left with charging a fee. Wow, our victorian had a big leak in the hallway. It's always hard to get a roofer when its raining or about to storm, but Sun answered the phone at 8:30 and met me across town at 9:15. He climbed up in the attic and then onto the roof and told me he'd be back at 11:00 and the job would be finished by 1pm. He met all of those deadlines and my problem evaporated. My drain backed up during recent rain (on a flat roof) and leaked through into the house. I needed some repair work to get through the winter but had no advance notice or scheduling and called right at the start of the rains which is a terrible time. Sun was the only person that would respond to me (two roofers just told me "stopped drains will leak") and talked through the problem to understand my issue was more than just a little leak. He came onsite the same day to check and give me a quote, and gave me comprehensive options and I felt comfortable that he had a solid understanding of roofing and my specific situation. The pricing was decent based on previous work, but I couldn't even get a competitive bid. He coordinated the work quickly based on the weather schedule and did the work quickly and efficiently. That was incredible honesty, and he did the repair job the very same day. When I do need it replaced, I'll call Sun. First off, my husband and I call him the roofing ninja. We hired him on the recommendation of our painting contractor to fix a dilapidated downspout that was pouring water where it shouldn't. I have to be honest, I'm not sure I understood much of what he said to me (heavy accent) but he seemed knowledgeable and gave me a fair price (I got other bids too). He was supposed to come at 8:00 a.m. and showed up promptly, made almost no noise whatsoever and was gone in a flash (hence the title "roofing ninja"). He cleaned up all of his mess, so you couldn't even tell he had been there, except that the new gutter and downspout looked fantastic. He came back a couple days later to pick up the check since he didn't want to disturb us so early in the morning! Highly recommend. read more

Another review for extra generous service. We had a small leak in a bedroom after the 'storm of the decade' last night. Sun agreed to come out this morning. Took a look at our roof and identified the most likely source of where the water was getting in. Like another reviewer, he gave me free instructions on how to fix it myself with some caulk from Home Depot, instead of asking for a lot more money to do the repair himself. I highly recommend H-point roofing for roof repairs in this El Nino season. I bought a house with a sky light that had leaked in the past, and the seller had made several attempts at patching it. It leaked after the big rain of December 2014, and I called H-Point. They did a comprehensive patch of the roof around the skylight, but then, of course, we had the drought so it was never really challenged. This winter's rains resulted in a slight resumption of the leak. I called H-Point and they came out within 1 hr. The next day they had a theory on where the leak was coming from and a crew to do repairs. All this no charge, as it was under warranty from the original job. Sun Hong, the crew boss, was apologetic saying he wanted to make good on his job. I was impressed with their prompt response and professionalism. This has been a pesky problem, as is often the case as people who have skylights can attest. I would definitely call these guys again and recommend them. read more

Sun caulked the skylights on our roof several years ago. He responded quickly to my request then, was thorough and priced reasonably. Called him again recently when a leak from the roof developed at the end of this heavy rain season. The reason for the leak was not immediately evident. He told me the truth, that he couldn't see the source of the leak, that I should call back when the leak was actively happening so he could trace it, figure out the problem. It leaked again during a light shower and this time during the day so he could see it in action. He did finally recommend a new roof, but did not go to that conclusion until he had explored the possibilities. The roofing company he recommended, Angelo's, did a great job and Sun checked on the work several times during the process. Yes, I found H-Point on Yelp and spoke directly with Mr. Hong. He answered the phone himself and was able to stop by for an estimate within a day. This is in contrast to many other roofers around this time, who have an answering machine telling you they're not taking on any new jobs until Novermber/december/Jan (must be the el Nino craze). Mr Hong agreed to squeeze in the small job that I needed, within a week despite his schedule, and said he would do it himself (which he did). He says he is always at the job site, either supervising the workers all day, or doing things himself. He also does not mind doing small jobs, which is exactly what a homeowner needs. Although the original need was for installation of a roof jack, he pointed out some shoddy work on a previously installed jack (sealed only with some roof patch and not with bitumen) and I later also asked him to help seal the roof around several pipes, that had caused leakage in december. All of this was done professionally and properly with modified bitumen. The job became a little bigger than intended but his assessment of the pre-existing seals made sense, and he assessed my roof as overall being in good condition, not requiring replacement for many years. While he was at it, he pointed out some small things that I should do to improve the roof, including areas needing some caulking and some poorly done flashing. He proceeded to do the caulking himself. Mr. Hong's English may be difficult to understand, but he gives things to you strait, with honest assessments. He is an entertaining and energetic man and you can tell he has a sense of pride and responsibility in the quality of his work. read more

From start to finish, H-Point roofing was excellent. We have a flat roof with a modified bitumin membrane of two different ages (11 years and 25 years) that need to be re-roofed. The owner Sun Hong met me in person each day they were on the job, and he personally supervised his workers each day. He delivered what he promised, his price was the lowest of three bids, he was knowledgeable, courteous, and really cared about the quality of the work done. He also included in his bid things like replacing the crackled skylights, and still came out below other bids. He completed the job in two days. Showed up when he said he would on the dot. When he learned that we were also installing solar, he explained how he would add a third membrane to lengthen the life span of the roof under the solar array. He noticed some other minor work that needed to be done, but was not pushy at all. I highly recommend him and would use him again without hesitation. read more
