We had many roofers come out and check our sloped shingled roofing, none felt right. We had eco smart check the leak, evaluate the problem and resolve all leak issues. Working with ED was easy and pricing was right. Been a few years and no issues. read more

I had Eco Smart Roofer along with two other companies inspect my roof. The other companies said the roof was in fine condition and recommended just a cleaning and minor repairs to the gutter. Eco Smart, on the other hand, recommended a long list of work which would've cost a not insubstantial amount. I know nothing about roofs, and perhaps Eco Smart was much more conscientious, detail oriented, and cared more about roofs than the other guys, but I found it hard to overlook such a big difference in the assessments and chose to go with another company. Two other things worth mentioning: * To their credit, Eco Smart was very good in their written communications. They responded to my emails promptly and provided detailed explanations of their process * The owner, who came for the inspection, criticized other roofing companies at several points during the visit, which is unusual in my experience working with contractors. Not sure whether to take it as a good or bad thing but it's something that definitely stood out. read more

I reached out for an estimate. Their estimate was 3x more expensive compared to other roofers that I spoke to - including some of the best known ones (Tom Lee, McCurdy, etc) I wanted to understand _why_ their estimate was so much higher. If the reasoning made sense, I would've picked them for the job. I'm happy to pay more for quality / longevity and knowing that I won't have to get a job redone in a decade. I kept getting canned responses from this contractor, and they refused to engage on the specifics. A good contractor would stand behind their estimate and explain how they arrived at it. It sounds to me like they weren't interested in taking on the job, which is why they gave an exorbitant quote, instead of refusing the job outright. read more

Do not miss the chance to get an estimate from this company! Erast, the manager, is extremely knowledgeable and takes a thoughtful approach with generous time for questions. Even if you end up having to do a temporary fix while saving up for a new roof, the process is extremely informative and gives a realistic picture of how the job should be done correcty. Erast advised on what to look for, where to spend money vs. what options might be economized or delayed. Most of all, he is a respectful and lovely guy, who doesn't engage in contractor-mansplaining. Can't recommend highly enough! read more

Supposedly good roofers but terrible communicators. Their website doesn't confirm they received your request and their phone answering system does request you to leave a message. Not sure how they get new business. Maybe this review will help them and us. read more

Great roofing contractor, replaced our roof and made my needy neighbors very happy. Extreme quality and intense and precise communication. Truly a high end roof replacement with attention with every detail. High end replacement all the way, these guys are supreme, no scams, no extreme warranty promises, just a quality local roofer that will be around in 30 years. read more

Fabulous roofing contractor, we had a leak and called them to evaluate our roof. Inspection was conveniently scheduled and we had our roof repaired efficiently. So far no leaks and no problems, dealing with them was quick and pricing was reasonable. Highly recommend. read more

We used Eco Smart Roofer to replace our highly complex, historic building with rounded eaves that come under the edge trim of our home. Our HOA is extremely tough in St Francis Woods and had to decline two prospective roofing contractors until they approved Eco Smart. The team was working on our home for three weeks, the details and obsession with quality are next level. We ended up with a quality roof on our historical type A building, our neighbors are happy and we are in heaven knowing that we will need to deal with the roof for the rest of our lives. read more

I cannot recommend Eco Smart Roofer highly enough. After a disastrous roofing job by another company in December 2025, who, without my knowledge, removed my roof's drainage system and shingled directly over it. - I called Erast for help. Erast was truly a blessing in the middle of an incredibly stressful and disheartening situation. From the beginning, he was professional, transparent, and honest. I had decided that I should hire a different roofing company to make the repairs. However, Erast cautioned me that if he performed repairs himself, it could potentially void the warranty I am still waiting to receive from the original company. Instead of trying to get the job, he offered to document the condition of the roof by taking photographs before the original company attempted to "correct" their errors, and then to conduct a follow-up inspection afterward to ensure my home was safe. The photographs he provided were eye-opening and devastating. They revealed egregious installation errors and structural damage far worse than the visible issues I had already noticed. Even more troubling, the images showed that the workmanship on my original roof--prior to its replacement--was significantly superior to the work performed during the new installation. Seeing that comparison in black and white was incredibly upsetting. It is difficult to comprehend how any roofing contractor could remove a drainage system without a homeowner's knowledge and leave a roof without proper drainage, exposing the structure to preventable damage. Although Erast initially offered to independently inspect the original company's corrective work for my protection, his thorough documentation ultimately gave me the clarity and confidence to decide that I cannot allow that crew back onto my property. Erast consistently put my best interests ahead of his own profit. If you are looking for a contractor with integrity, transparency, and genuine care for his clients, Eco Smart Roofer is the company to call. Thanks to Erast's professionalism and documentation, I am now equipped to take the appropriate next steps to protect my home. Erast, seriously, thank you! read more

Leaving this review in 2 places so everyone gets a chance to see it. It's been just about 10 years since these folks did my roof. Roof is still doing great after 10 years and just had them back to take a look. I emailed them and they called back in 5 minutes (I had to look back at this to confirm because it was so fast)...and they showed up at my house 5 minutes after that. Not sure I've ever expected or experienced that speed of service with any vendor. Anyway, still super friendly and helpful, still exceeding my expectations, and, once again, 10 years later still highly recommend. read more

What a change! I was in a hurry and didn't give them much of a chance to respond. They called back soon after my review. And we spoke for 30 minutes and they answered all my questions. Great call. read more

This is a review for a roof they DIDNT do. I needed a roof inspection done ASAP for insurance purposes. Instead of accepting the job, they pulled the most recent roofing permit and referred me to original roofer. Turns out that the insurers just needed the permit information. This saved a lot of time and money for us, and I know who I'll be using next time I need something handled on our roof. read more

Ecosmart put on a new roof on my rental property back in 2015. This vendor, Erast, actually kept his word by checking on the roof every two years. Per the most recent check, in January 2026, Erast notified me that the scuppers on the roof were clogged, impeding the water flow from the roof gutters into the drain pipe. He offered to purchase ]stainless steel scupper protectors to prevent the drain pipe from becoming clogged, and also to clean off the accumulated roof leaves. He purchased the protecters, installed them and removed the leaves, all without charge. What an amazing vendor! And, by the way, the roof installed in October, 2019 is still in perfect condition. read more

Erast (ED) is not just a roofing expert, but more importantly, a great human being. He personally came out to evaluate my roof and provided a level of transparency that is rare in this industry. He spent a significant amount of time thoroughly examining every potential intrusion point where water could get in. Rather than pushing for a total overhaul, he recommended practical fixes I could try myself before even considering a full roof replacement. While most roofers immediately jump to the most expensive option, Ed's priority was clearly my best interest and the health of my home. It's clear that Eco Smart Roofer operates with a "people-first" philosophy. If you want an honest, tech-savvy, and professional assessment of your roof, look no further. I'd give him a 6-star rating if I could! read more

They want to charge $600 just to come inspect for a roof replacement estimate. No thanks

It was a pleasure working with Erast. He came for a general roof inspection equipped with the technological gear (drone, moisture meter) to fully assess the quality of the roof. He arrived early and immediately put me at ease throughout the process. He clearly has a wide base of construction related knowledge and was able to integrate that into the assessment of our roof. This is of note, since sometimes people who specialize in one area are unable to integrate that knowledge into the larger picture. Additionally, he has the ability to communicate a clear plan both at the time of the assessment as well as after with written documentation. I am very happy working with Erast and feel like l got excellent value. read more

Eco Smart Roofing completed a full roof replacement, including bitumen surface as well as the membrane under our Spanish roof tiles, for us in 2014. We just had it reinspected and everything is still in great shape! Erast also did a great job giving us advice on how to maintain it. Grateful for the work he and his team did. Smart thoughtful and helps us save money. Happily recommend him for your roofing issue. read more

Erast is the most professional contractor I have worked with, and the work done was excellent. High quality audit, quote without surprises, work done efficiently and with care and attention. We own a highly unusual house that many contractors show disinterest in working on. But Erast responded promptly, did a full home inspection, and replaced and/or patched sections of our roof and wall shingles. The replacement roof was a quality job. In addition, Erast has been instrumental in helping us to find great contractors to install a heat pump, repair metal railings, and more, and spearheaded all of those efforts. Erast is always professional and honest, and fun to work with. He can definitely count on me to be a loyal customer. read more

I'm grateful to have Eco Smart reroof my house during the pandemic. Considerate and communicative, Erast always puts on a mask when talking to me after I mentioned my spouse has immune system issues. Emails, texts, phone calls are answered very promptly. Erast takes your concerns to heart e.g. he protected our fragile, leak-prone courtyard deck-over-living-space during reroofing. In addition, Eco Smart is the only roofer to propose adding needed slope to our flat roof. Thank you Eco Smart! read more

Roofer to the Rescue! When we needed independent testimony about our roof's prior condition, Ecosmart saved the day! Luckily, they had documented everything during their initial inspection months ago, so they were able to promptly provide a detailed "retroactive" report. It presented the facts objectively as you would expect in a professional testimony. Huge props to Ecosmart for their exceptional service and going above and beyond! read more

Erast and his team are professional, responsive and fast! Highly recommended. Eco Smart Roofer both installed our roof in San Francisco some years ago and services it. They are tech savvy (drones) and extremely efficient. I also value that they are practical and honest in dealings with customers. High quality, great work and value. We will continue using ESR for years to come. read more

When I purchased my new property the roof started leaking down one wall soon after. The Eco Smart team came in, measured the moisture on the walls, made a recommendation, and quickly implemented it. We hired EcoSmart to do a very comprehensive inspection of our condo building exterior to identify and document building defects that could be contributing to leak issues. Erast has been an absolute pleasure to work with in this difficult time. Not only have they arrived on time and completed the inspection report promptly, but it was done with the level of detail and professionalism that we needed. In addition, Erast has been available by phone and email to answer my questions as we navigate the process of remedying the situation with our contractor. The price of the inspection is definitely worth it for it's quality and the high level of service that we have received before and after. Thank you ecosmart! read more

This is a follow-up review. In May 2023 EcoSmart performed a detailed assessment of our roof - beyond the scope of a typical inspection. They looked at the roof surface, curbs and weather proofing, as well as the inside of vents and drains. They further scanned the interior of the house for signs of damage and leaks on ceilings and joists. Today I needed expert witness testimony to retroactively document the roof condition seven months earlier. EcoSmart had retained all their notes and time-stamped photographs, allowing them to promptly turn over a comprehensive report for us. It is detailed, professional, neutral and easy to read. This is exactly what I needed and they did not even charge me for it. Thank you! read more

Fabulous contractor that mainly specializes in San Francisco, Bay Area. They inspected our building inside out as a part of their initial paid inspection, we were hesitant paying for it at first as most of our previous interactions with contractors involved free estimates, but a friend convinced us to go forward, the best decision ever as we learned more about our home than we ever wanted. Repairs for exterior and roof were prescribed, we went forward with the work and it was completed on time and in excellent and precise manner. These folks are general contractors as well, they know everything about your home which helps. Greatly appreciate this firm and strongly recommend to anyone looking for quality. read more

We worked with Erast and Eco Smart Roofer on a joint project with our neighbors regarding the shared flashing between our roofs. Our neighbor had previously used Eco Smart Roofer to redo her roof and was very happy with the work. All of my interactions with Erast were top notch. Absolutely, hands down best contractor we have ever dealt with. They are very professional, punctual and really, really know everything there is to know about waterproofing. First paid inspection was a vital service that every homeowner needs, it was very informative and surprising to discover that the mystery leak we have had over many years was actually not coming from the roof or siding - it was the foundation. Eco smart proposed crystallizing our slab and we are now leak free and the path of repairs they recommended worked great. Awesome firm staffed with people that care. They are not cheap, but worth every penny. read more

We recently hired EcoSmart Roofer to clean and re-seal our flat roof (residential single-family home in the Portola/Excelsior area). We had been experiencing some behind-the-wall leaks from our aging roof after heavy rains. Erast performed the inspection and suggested two choices: a new roof, or a less-expensive clean and re-seal option. We chose to have EcoSmart pressure-wash and seal our roof, including resealing connections to our existing solar installation and repair of some areas of flashing. His team was efficient, effective, polite, and left everything on the site clean. It's not a technically a "new roof," but I'm hard to pressed to think of it as being much different than one. It's shiny, white, and water just sheets off of the surface. We can't totally confirm yet if the leaks have been resolved until the next rainy season, but it looks great! Erast has been responsive and thorough in his communication via email and in person, and I would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone needing quality roof work done. read more

Erast is a literally a lifesaver. We ended up with a bad leak on a rainy Saturday / New Year's Eve. Most places didn't pick up the phone when we called for help, but he did. Although he wasn't able to directly come and help us today, he did what he could for us. He looked up our house online and recommended that we contact a plumber. He gave me the contact of someone he knew and they answered the phone too. Lots of cleanup work in our future, but at least it's not getting any worse for now. read more

We had a great experience with our roof replacement! Most companies will give you a free inspection/estimate, whereas Eco Smart charges a fee. However, I truly feel the cost of the inspection was money well-spent because Erik took photos and walked me through the issues he saw. This included measuring the moisture in the walls to show us how the roof was leaking. We decided to go ahead with a roof replacement, but this was during a period of rain, so we had to delay the roof replacement until the rain stopped. Erik contacted us frequently to update us on when the roof replacement would be safe to do so. He also connected us with a skylight installer who did an amazing job replacing our skylights and was also extremely communicative. He's also very attentive to our neighbors during the installation/replacement process like making sure to sweep up debris that fell on their side, which was much appreciated since a good neighborly relationship is vital to enjoying your home! To say we're happy with the process and the result would be an understatement. Erik is extremely organized and professional and made the whole process very smooth. He is very communicative and prompt throughout the whole process. He's an amazing contractor to work with you on your roof, I don't think you'd have any regrets. :) Also bonus is that Erik will take drone photos of your roof so you can properly admire it and send it to people to brag. read more

These guys did an amazing job with our roof and got it done so quickly! They cleaned up thoroughly every day as they worked. They also give you an extra little surprise when you work them. Where do I start? The prompt response when I emailed them? Fast and responsive planning around weather and last minute personal issues? The great and professional manner in which Armand conducted the inspection? How wonder the team was when they came and fix my roof? Or the follow-up after? Such tough choices! It was time to get my roof inspected and naturally, I went on Yelp, found the 3 top rated roofers in the San Francisco area and message each of them for a quote. EcoSmart Roofer replied within the hour with a quote and explanation of why it costs what it does, what's covered under it, and some possible time lines if we decided to go forward. The second company just replied with a quote and the third company I suppose can't be bothered. In terms of scheduling, EcoSmart Roofer/Armand is really easy and accommodating. We have regular work schedules and Armand was awesome to accommodate our schedule and came out at an early time so that we wouldn't have to take any time off. His happy and cheerful personality definitely made it easy for me to wake up and he answered all my stupid questions ("what are you doing now?") with patience and professionalism. He also cleared up myths that I grew up with such as roof inspections are only needed every 10 years. Wonderful guy! Oh! And the pictures! He provided so many pictures of my roof! Problem areas and good areas. This was great because I can't get on my own roof under normal circumstances and the pictures gave me context as to what he was talking about. Imagine if he said, "the tar patch is cracking", I wouldn't have any idea what that means. But he got pictures of the patches in the roof from the previous owners and they were cracked! That extra information gives me confidence to make my decisions. He even took pictures of the sidings of the house high up where there were damages and recommended that I have them repaired as soon as possible AND told me what a proper repair would look like. The quote and recommendation process was very easy. We had talked about the current conditions and my budget. So, the quote contained a "recommended minimum" work section and a "nice to do" work section with detailed steps on what kind of work will be done and references to pictures. I wanted to add on some things and he charged me very reasonably for them. I've gone through some home improvements projects before and I'm very impressed with his pricing. Once I agreed, we set up a date DAYS later. I didn't need to wait week or months. However, there was a storm coming in and Armand quickly rescheduled me to move the schedule up earlier so that I'll have all the fix done in time for the storm. And good thing too, cuz it just rained for 2 weeks. His crew was very professional. Armand came by the first morning to explain to me what would be going on and that his team will clean up any debris that fell in (skylight). The job took 2 days, noise was at an expected level (old house) and true enough, the foreman came in cleaned up the room where the skylight was in. He definitely did a better job than I would have. Armand followed up each day with pictures of the roof before, during and after the repair work was done. After the storms passed, I got a surprise email from Armand with drone pictures! The roof already looked good from the after repair pictures but the drone images were amazing for a birds-eye view and coverage. I'm working with Armand to see if his crew can repair and repaint the damaged to the outside walls and will definitely update with how that goes! read more
