Front roof cedar shingles replaced and painted plus flat roof silicon-sealed.

Every now and then you run across a business that provides truly spectacular service. Erik, and his team at 7x7, is one of those businesses. 7x7 replaced my steeply sloped front roof shingles. But, they advised me that I needed a new membrane underneath. Then they inspected the flat part of the roof, which was just redone with bitumen three years ago, and recommended silicon sealing that portion. Plus, Erik arrranged to fix an ugly rottted out vent fan fixture. While the scaffolding was up, I decided to repaint the front of the house. Erik and crew accomodated the painters. AND, Erik voluntarily inspected their work upon completion, pointing out improvements/fixes they needed to make. He even pointed out that I should call PG&E re the connection to my house, which is looking a bit dated. Now, fair warning. Get your wallet out. Excellence is not cheap. But when you get killer service and advice... Plus, in progress drone photos via dropbox... Plus general lookout for things you didn't know you needed... 7x7 gets huge A+ grade. The one tiny downside is that he liked my roof paint so much that he took the leftover paint home to paint a bench in his backyard! :)

    Thank you, 7x7.

We called 7x7 when all roofers were super busy, got on a waiting list for their $585 inspection; most of the other "roofers" we called were either unlicensed (scammers) or did not know what they were talking about, it was sad and entertaining at the same time. We got a call from Erik earlier than expected, there was a space for an inspection and we moved forward, two inspectors came (Adam and Steve), they quickly browsed through our building and recorded valuable information. It was very pleasant and surprising to get some time with them after the inspection. We all sat down and spent about 15 minutes talking about every piece of information they have collected. In two days we got the inspection report with photos, it was easy to understand and the choice was clear that 7x7 was The Roofer for our family. As a disclaimer I have to tell you that this company is not cheap but the service they provide is worth every penny. Repairs were done within 5 days from the time we agreed to terms and signed with them. They are pros by all means, trucks, tools, attitude, we got a great feeling about our roofing system and we recommend these guys if you really care about your building.

7x7 Roofing uncovered our roof and discovered dry rotted wood

This is the only roofing company we found from online research that we were completely satisfied with their roofing work from beginning to completion. We had water leaking into the back bedroom closet off and on for several years. Our ceiling and walls had eventually turned into a light brown color and we just had to finally address our leaking problem. We hired another local family-owned roofing company about 5 years ago to try and remedy the on-going leaking problem, but their work did not remedy it. We asked that same roofing company 3 separate times to come back, check their work, and figure out our leaking problem, but they only claimed that they did their work right and asked for us to stop calling them. We were frustrated because even our general contractor didn't know where the leaking was coming from either. Enter 7x7 Roofing (which also does business as EcoSmart/7x7 Roofing). After emailing them to request an appointment I learned that I had to wait 2 months before they could come out to inspect and do a thorough analysis of our leaking problem. It was hard to wait those 2 months, but it was worth it. Armand showed up with his scanning equipment and inspected our property thoroughly, inside and outside. He spent approximately 2 hours on site climbing up on the roof, inspecting every nook and cranny, and took pictures. Armand then took the time to sit with me afterwards to explain all of his findings and go through each picture he took. Needless to say I was shocked to learn about the extent of water damage our property had. We had a 30 year old roof that was just 'bandaged' over the years and we had to replace it. It's not news you really want to hear, but it was reality and some hard decisions had to be made. I was charged a fee of $585 for the analysis, but that same fee was applied towards our roof work with them. We had 2 other roofers come to inspect our property before this appointment and they did not provide nearly the same information that Armand did with me that day. After scaffolding went up work began 2 days later with a large crew. After removing the old materials on our roof they discovered extensive dry rot throughout. They also found that the 3 satellite dishes that were installed on our roof years ago had caused some damage as well. Water had been leaking into our property from a number of areas in our roof. They replaced all of the dry rot wood with new wood, re-did the water drains, replaced our sky light, and completely sealed our roof. They took pictures of the work in progress and provided video. My advice is to take your time to review their website, learn why they operate the way they do, and schedule an inspection. We got excellent follow through and service from beginning to end. I highly recommend them!!!

Great guys and fine team! We recently purchased a home and initial inspection identified issues with the roof, we knew that the roof is older and we have to change it at some point in near future, we were also considering solar option and weren't sure about where to start. We called 7x7 Eco Smart and from the very beginning it was a smooth sail, Chris picked up the phone and assured us that speaking with a solar company would be the first step in getting this on the way, Luminalt was the contractor they recommended and we contacted them right away. In few days we had the roof inspected and Luminalt gave us their solar panel count, replacement was scheduled in two weeks and was done properly in a calculated manner, these guys know what to do and are very professional. Warranty is awesome and periodic inspections are scheduled. Recommended for anyone who is in search of smart roofing solutions.

7x7 is a really excellent team to work with. We received 3 quotes for our flat roofing job plus lightwell. 7x7 was the best of the three to work with by far. Here are my highlights: Their inspection is well worth the money and I highly recommend it. I was also skeptical of paying for an inspection but you get what you pay for - a detailed outline of the wet parts of your house and an honest assessment of what needs to be fixed. They move VERY quickly and deliver a very high level of service. They even helped me work with a neighbor whom I totally forgot to tell ahead of time. Communication is top notch. We had a group text going during the project and they responded to texts and emails all the time. The best part about working with 7x7 is they accepted our desire to beautify our lightwell with plants even though it's not ideal from a roof integrity perspective. Instead of saying "no" they worked with us to strengthen the lightwell and offered tips with what to use to maximize the life of the roof. We think this adds a lot of value to our home and were really disappointed when others told us "no". We're so glad 7x7 helped us choose materials and planned around us.

We are new in roofing and these guys are the pros, yes the price shocked us at first but the value we got for our buck is huge. 7x7 was the most expensive out of 3 bids we received but we have had a very pleasurable experience dealing with the crew and had our roof repaired quickly. Armand and Erast were easy to talk to and always available, team seemed very professional and worked efficiently. We were even given two way radios and were in the know when access was permitted in and out of our building. Great work and quality repair, we tested the new membrane/coating for Houts with a water hose spraying all over the roof - zero leaks!

We needed a coating for our roofing system as it was about time to really take care of it. We spoke with few contractors and 7x7 appeared to have more options and flexibility on materials and installation dates. Spoke with Erik about scheduling the inspection, and they figured overall condition of the building followed by a professional and clean report. It was a pleasure to deal with them, and our roof looks amazing now!

Extremely positive experience dealing with this contractor as they are part of Eco Smart network (I used inspection service through Eco Smart and my friend replaced a roof with them). They were not the first ones I called and I saw some unprofessional individuals and unethical folks coming to my house. I believe this is the time when roofers are in high demand and there are already scammy structures in place copying websites of known roofing contractors and presenting themselves as general contractors. I learned that checking licenses helps in choosing contractor who is right for me. I used Contractors State License Board website, make sure they are insured, bonded and the person pretending to be the contractor. I did my due diligence and out of 4 contractors who presented me with quotes by checking licenses and names of the folks I filtered out 3 quotes. Turns out 3 out of 4 people you call are fakes! We contracted with 7x7 because their price was right and they are legit, also my friend worked with them so I knew they are honest. Repair happened in 2 weeks and we are now ready for the rainy season. These guys are really good and I highly recommend them to anyone who is in search of good contractor.

Very happy with this contractor as they were straight forward and logical. They respect the client, property and neighborhood, as one of the superintendents once said - we build as if we were building for our family. These guys are not cheap by any means, but very reasonable if you take into consideration the level of the product quality they provide, i had a new roof replaced and had to have the solar contractor (Luminalt) aligned with the roofing company (Eco Smart / 7x7) and we had about two weeks in preparation but the project itself took only three days including solar, unheard of quality and efficiency. I also signed up for an exterior inspection with 7x7 ($585 value) but it was forwarded to my invoice as credit once i signed with them. Very clean and honest contractor!

Middle of roofing installation. Quality above all
    Erich H.

These guys are fabulous, they replaced our roof in one day right before the storms, I spoke with Erik and he was helpful transparent and had given us nothing but truthful unbiased answers on our roofing condition. We did purchase their expensive inspection report but it did get credited back to our account once we signed with them. They are not cheap but are worth every penny. Recommend this business 100%

Issues, issues and more issues with our roof have forced us to find someone who can finally figure out what the deal is and where the leaks are coming from. We have had number of contractors and "contractors" come look at our building with absolutely no luck, we spent thousands feeding Jacks of all trades who were certain that they found the issue. At some point we stumbled upon 7x7 and they were easy to work with from the start, communication with Chris was a bliss, he was easy going, honest and knowledgeable, contrast was definitely bright between 7x7 and unlicensed and uninsured folks that came before them. We did have to pay for the inspection initially and the amount of tools and scanners they used was worth every penny. We signed with them shortly after and our roof was repaired at last, pricing was reasonable and service superb.

I also replaced my gas furnace with a heat pump, so our electric needs are significant. A new roof with complete tear off and new plywood is a big project. I started by getting a quote from Solar City but they weren't able to coordinate with a roofer. Their leasing agreement (aka PPA) also had some provisions that seemed pretty predatory. I don't remember if Solar Sesame cold called me or I called them, but I do remember that Marcel did a great job of explaining the process. I'm pretty knowledgeable about these kind of projects so I asked somre very detailed questions. When he wasn't able to answer them immediately, he didn't front, he just said he didn't know and called the office for better info. That's the best response. I was a little concerned that Solar Sesame used an outsourced the roofing to a vendor. But given the time constraints, that was a good decision. Also, the vendor they chose, Arts Roofing, was a joy to work with. They communicated well, and when there was a small problem, they handled it professionally and entirely to my satisfaction. The solar panels went up super fast and well. They system was generating power the as soon as the installers were done. Unfortunately, PGE took their sweet time getting the final inspection done. So PGE got some free kwh from the system. On the good side, we didn't start paying for the system until after PGE did the final turn on, so no problem for us. I monitor the system via the PGE site as well as the Tesla app. Those two systems match up perfectly so I am happy with the amount of power being created and sold back to PGE. Also, we had a short power outage in our neighborhood, and it didn't impact us at all. The only reason I knew about it was that PGE alerted us via text. I looked out my window and noticed that none of my neighbors had their lights on. Between Marcel (sales) and Mei (project management), I'm very happy with the end result and the process on this large residential project.

My wife and I have struggled for years with staggering Pacific Gas and Electric bills ranging from $300 to $600+ per month. Most of our friends have bills ranging from $100 to $200 per month here in Pacifica. We hired an energy consultant. He spent a day at the house. He wrote a most professional report. To make a long story short, we had to gut our roof and rebuild the entire attic of our home to solve the problem. We were looking at a bill of $40,000 or more. I rejected this. I felt that solar panels were the answer. Over 5 years, four solar companies came out. Sometimes an engineer came along. They did in-depth quotes with a cost of over $40,000 that did not work. This is due to the fog and vegetation blocking the sun. On the fifth try, I brought Occidental Power Solar Company. They did a professional job. They proposed a system costing $27,000 that would do the job. Despite protests from my wife that the system would never work, I hired this company. I got one heck of an education in solar power. We encountered an initial problem that their system required a 150-amp power box. We had to upgrade our 100-amp power box. Pacific Gas and Electric got involved. There was a lot of bureaucracy and delays. A new transformer had to be installed in front of our house. This was an all-day operation with 3 giant trucks involved. Occidental installed the solar panels on our roof and the support equipment. A permit had to be obtained from The Pacific Planning Commission. A final inspection of that permit opened the way for Pacific Gas and Electric to turn on the solar power system. It took them almost a month to do this. There is a saying in English that I love as follows: "The proof is in the pudding." Early this morning, our first electric bill arrived after the solar power system was turned on. It was only $29.89!!! Occidental Power Solar Company had exceeded all my expectations.

Clean Solar - Beautiful solar install on clay roof

    Clean Solar

    North San Jose

Unreservedly recommend Clean Solar!…read more Had PV Solar installed when the house was built in 2006. Under our existing rate plan (time-of-use, meaning pay high rates 4-9 pm and low rates the rest of the time), and metering agreement (NEMS 2.0), we were selling more electricity (in $ terms) than we were using. However, we will be forced to switch to the new metering agreement (NEMS 3.0) in late 2026, which drastically cuts how much PG&E pays us for electricity we sell to them--we will end up paying money to PG&E. This motivated me to consider installing a whole-house battery storage system to do "rate shifting"--store the excess electricity generated by our PV system in the morning and early afternoon to power the house during the high rate period (4-9 pm). And of course provides energy in the event of a power outage. I also wanted to take advantage of the energy tax credit before it expires at the end of the year. Reading reviews on Yelp, Google, and other sites, I decided to contact Clean Solar along with 3 other companies. Clean Solar was the first to respond and I had a thorough conversation with a Senior Design Analyst, Art Balaoro. He listened and understood my goals, answered my (many) questions and said he would get back to me with options in a few days. Of the other 3 companies, 2 never responded to my inquiry at all! The other one did, but I had to repeatedly reach out to them to make any progress on getting a quote. In contrast, Art did as he said and responded within a week with several options, primarily around which battery vendor to go with (Tesla vs. Franklin, I preferred the latter) and the battery location. Clean Solar scheduled a technician to come out and look at our house: location and configuration of the main panel, possible battery locations, where the existing PV inverter was, etc. Took a lot of photographs and measurements to verify compliance with building codes. In contrast, the other vendor was sluggish to schedule someone to visit, so I ended up sending them photos and measurements from the Clean Solar visit. Because of the peculiarities of my house's main panel, it was going to be more difficult (and expensive) to install the Franklin battery. And although I would have preferred to put the battery inside my garage, building codes would have required a replacement of the entire smoke alarm system throughout the house, also adding significant expense. Art walked me through these issues thoroughly and so I went with the recommended (and cheaper) option, going with the Powerwall and an outside location. In contrast, the other vendor didn't do as thorough an analysis and wasn't aware of these issues until I pointed them out. When I did get a comparable quote from them (exact same system components), it was slightly more expensive than the Clean Solar quote. I started this process in June, and immediately Art said it was going to be a close thing to finish the project before the end of the year--so many people were wanting to install solar or battery projects and claim the tax credit. Art also walked me through the timeline for the whole process and how it would be managed on their end. Based on the interactions I had with him and others, I felt that Clean Solar was the best choice for my project--and my experience bore that out.

We needed to add panels because we purchase an EV and needed more solar to offset PG&E. The impeccable experience started with Art the consultant, he gave 4 scenarios and explained in detail what each means and provided detail report including all the tech details and break even timing. To be honest, it was too much for me, I really just wanted pricing and how long it takes to install haha but was good to know he has such knowledge and I was confident he is looking out for my best interest. Then we had Patrick the PM, arrived for site inspection on time and courteous and explained the whole process. Then come the impressive installation team Luis, Alberto and Kevin. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. Seamless is what you'll experience with them. Until next time Clean Solar!

Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. He spent well over an hour with me, climbed onto my roof to check for obstructions, inspected battery placement, reviewed wiring paths, and answered every question in detail without ever rushing me. What truly sealed the deal was how efficient and transparent the pricing process was. Carlos was able to turn around a detailed quote very quickly, and when I received it, I was honestly surprised -- it was a significant amount lower than every other quote I received, even though his evaluation was by far the most thorough. Given everything: His technical expertise The level of detail and care The ability to integrate with my existing system The fast turnaround And the much better pricing Choosing Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions was a complete no-brainer. Carlos is knowledgeable, meticulous, honest, and genuinely passionate about doing things the right way. After meeting him, I completely understand why this company has such strong Yelp reviews. If you're in the Bay Area and need electrical or solar work done the right way, especially for a non-standard or custom system, I highly recommend Carlos and the team at Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions.

I actually first contacted Sunlight Electri-Cal very early on this year, in April. I had closed on…read morea new home but knew we would want to get solar installed. Juan was very responsive and came out to take a look at our home right away. What I loved about Juan and his team is they are NOT sales people, they're real engineers who are focused on solving your problems and meeting your needs. Juan and his team are true solar experts and know exactly what they are doing - they were great at walking me through key details I should know about the system, how to best take advantage of having a solar system, and did their best to get me scheduled (in spite of multiple difficulties) for installation before the end of the year. Just for context, I've talked to another solar company where clearly they were just about trying to close the deal and sell sell sell, which really turned me off - it felt like they just wanted our money as opposed to wanting to understand what we really needed. Juan's team really shined here by just showing up to be real experts who are thoughtful about what system you need, as opposed to trying to close a deal. Juan and his team were also really patient and flexible. Our new home's solar system had to be turned on before we could start any work, and that process took months due to Sunnova going bankrupt. And, they were also really thoughtful when we mentioned we had added in some upgrades that would affect electricity use (ie saunas and outdoor electric heaters), and they reassessed their initial project and updated it to accommodate that. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them and am really grateful that we got our project done so well!!
