I enjoy so much fresh fish, but the store isn't very large so some items are limited.

I've been coming to this Hmart for over 20 years. I love that they offer samples for their promotional no items. They have a fresh selection of meat, poultry and seafood. The produce and fruit are also amazing. The workers are constantly checking to make sure none of the fruits are bruised. Remember when I told you that the best ham on Earth (Pata Negra) is made from Iberian pigs feed with acorn only? well .. being Iberian as I am and a devote for Korean food I been thinking that if I ate enough acorn pudding I may become soon "de pata negra" as well. And it happens that this H Mart location sells one the best acorn pudding I have ever taste I have to say that my knowledge about Asian markets is very little as I do groceries there only once in a while and I been only to a couple in Chinatown and other 2 H Mart locations. But when I'm in the area getting food somewhere, I have very clear where to go. And I'm starting to think a trip is worth it just for groceries purposes and not just eating somewhere Don't you think? after all, the prize is precious and compensate the time. We are talking about becoming "de pata negra"... The differences are quite obvious comparing to other locations of the same chain. Needless to say that the one in Manhattan suffer of the expected: small, incredibly overpriced and less variety of products ... or at least that's the impression, since you can't even move in this shoe box and I just go and rush to finish in a record time. Not a surprise huh? I have to say however, that I'm still a fan because of the location, much closer to me, and it serves for a quick-kimchee- fix, at least. The other H Mart that I been to, also located in Flushing, is huge and therefore you can find everything there. Sure. But the one time I went it was simply chaotic, crowded and I found it disorganized and not clean. There is not trick at this H Mart but something as simple as freshness. The acorn pudding is just an example because everything that you can think about stand up the same quality level. The tofu with chili paste, I'm really addicted to. But the soy sauce with chopped garlic and peppers to complement the acorn pudding is incredibly tasty, a bit spicy and delicious. I also love their kimchee. As a signature product at all H Mart markets, Tobagi is the sell brand. They also sell this skate fish with the same chili sauce that if you like you are in trouble because its not easy stop eating it. Besides the banchan dishes the freshness and quality can be extended to other products like, seafood. And the fish and meat, either frozen or fresh and marinated ready to cook. And also a large selection of fruits and vegetables. And the prices are difficult to beat for someone who doesn't live in the area or in Chinatown. You will also find many other products, of course. Like at any other supermarket. I wouldn't buy there cereals for instance but rice, tea, noodles, sauces ... you can keep counting. Last time I got this Biofeel Yogurt that apparently is given to the kids in Korea with their lunch boxes. My way to know about it wasn't as innocent as the kids because I bet this is what was used at Maru long ago to make that Yogurt Soju that I loved.. but this is another story. I been always there on Sundays in the evening and its been always very easy to move around. The lines at the cashier move fast and there is a food court that I haven't try, but others reviews says the food is fantastic. The parking area is huge and at this time is been never a problem to find an spot. Now, if you don't live in the area is quite a trek coming here. I do agree. But you know what? Pata negra pigs need also to run in the field and look for their food .. yes the acorns. Therefore, seems like the trip is part of the process. This is the worst customer service I ever had in my life in this Hmart located at Flushing union st!!!!!!!!! My mom went to this Korean supermarket to shop for some groceries which cost around $120. The cashier told her that she can get Hmart card to earn points and directed her to the customer service register. My mom doesn't speak well English and she didn't get what they meant and went to the customer service. She gave the lady ,who in customer service,the receipt and said the cashier directed her here, the lady doesn't know what she wants and talked to my mom in very bad attitude. I was in the parking lot waiting for her and she called me for help. I went inside and asked the cashier what did they tell her, they told me about the Hmart card. So I went back to the customer service and the lady keep mumbling that my mom should knows what she wants and don't waste their time. When I heard it I told her that my mom doesn't speak well English ,so just talk to me. Then I confirmed with my mom if she really needs it as I don't even want their Hmart card. My mom said she wants it and I tried to calm myself down and talked to the rude lady. She kept asking if my mom wants to apply the Hmart card, but I need to understand how does this Hmart card work. So I asked how's does it work and does it have membership fee, it is normal that I should know this before I sign up for anything right?! She rolled her eyes at me and yelled "it is free"! I can't calm myself to talk to this rude lady anymore!! Screw the Hmart Card, I don't even want their unless points as I'm not going to Hmart anymore .I yelled back at her, "I don't want your Hmart card,rude lady" and left with my mom. read more

I met a young Korean nurse at the Radiology clinic where I go for my lab exams. .A newly wed our conversation went to foods and different cuisines. She introduce me to this place. Tucked away inside a supermarket in this Korean neighborhood in Flushing, thisgem of restaurant serves auhentic Korean food. Seriously the food was sooooooooo good, I got hooked on it. No MSG....The restaurant 's name? Namoodol....I had Bulgogi..Korean barbecue....grilled as you order and nicely arranged in a Bento box with white rice, Kimchi and a bowl of soup. Rice Tea is free...The following day I took my husband and daughter and he had the Short Ribs, and I tried the Grilled Eel...Camille had a big bowl of Sashimi mixed with seasoned shredded seaweed, veg, kimchi, hot sauce ......very delicious. When my son who was stationed in Korea for 4 years came to visit for a few days (he is now stationed in England) I took him there and he can't have enough of it.. Thanking me for bringing him there,,,he also bought a lot of delicacies that he brought back to England.... He said it was exactly how they prepare the food there in Seoul. I think word goes around fast because I find myself waiting for a seat every time I go there now. What's good about it too....you can go and shop at the supermarket afterwards...where everything is really fresh.....the meat/fish/vegetable section are awesome...They also have a place for prepared foods, especially on Sundays .Parking?no problem there is a big parking space in the back. The bathroom are very clean located a few steps downstairs where a pharmacy and cooking utencils store can be found...... me likey free samples. me likey roasted sweet potatoes & chestnuts in the winter. me likey more samples of ebi tempura, fried dumplings, lemon tea, scallion pancakes, mini sausages, etc. me likey the array of Asian/Korean produce, snacks, candy and even bakery items. i love that it's huge and the aisles are packed with Korean items for me to indulge in... but where the hell is the Milkiss? Pocari Sweat? Banana Milk? Chilsung Cider? where the hell are all the soft drinks, milk, juices?!?!?! i asked about 5 employees there where i could find something OTHER than 7-up. they kept pointing me to different locations of the store. nope... that's Coca-cola... nope... that's yogurt... nope... that's ice cream. i ended up buying a Ginger Ale... but that wasn't what i originally wanted. i was very disappointed and a bit annoyed. whatever- i bought 3 bags of candy that i'll never finish... i only bought it because of nostalgic value and splurged on some other Korean snacks. the highlight of my trip here was the roasted sweet potatoe cart outside. so perfect on a cold November afternoon. Arrrgghh.. I want to love this place so much. The crazy selection of Korean side dishes alone is awesome. But I cannot abide with the lack of cleanliness here. When baby cockroaches are brazen enough to be skittering across the counters, that's a bad sign. There are hundreds more lurking in the corners and dark recesses. Finally. I made it. Ive been wanting to go to H Mart for over a year. But the Flushing location kept me from the adventure. Me and Queens are not friends...not yet at least. Shes making me work for her friendship and honestly i already have great friends...hello i live in Brooklyn now! I used my trusty cell phone google maps navi to get there- and as usual as soon as I think im there i turn it off only to find that I jumped the gun. H Mart, you have too many doors and that back door on the street is super deceiving! I parked immediately noticed that there was NO ONE around and still proceeded to try and enter. Once might have thought it was closed and went home, but not I- im fully aware that no entry may go un-tugged! I threw on my navi again and allowed "Gloria Goolge" to finish what she had to say this time, again i found myself in the same spot- EXCEPT this time i noticed the real entrance (parking lot and all) about 50 feet away from me. (I am blond, it is natural, you are no allowed to make fun) It was a little after 10:30 and I had called to confirm that they closed at 11pm. (This place really is heaven sent). I parked the car easily as there were only two other vehicles in the lot and i ran in. I quickly found their seaweed/laver section and began picking out my bounty. Most items were on sale although it was hard to decipher what was what either due to misplacement or the fact that I do not read Korean. So, bar codes were my friends. Bar codes are clearly marked on sale signs as well as packages. After attacking and conquering this section i moved along to the prepared foods and snatched up some radish kimichi and some pickle salad as well as some other stuff that i can not pronounce but was feeling brave. The prepared foods were priced as expected averaging 2.99 for smaller "single" portions and anywhere from 4.99-8.99 for the dinner size (to feed 3-4 people). They had sales on some rolls as well so i picked some up too. The freezer section held a plentifully amount of items i am dying to try but had packed up on so much seaweed that I will need to save it for next time. I found some veggi won-tons and made my way out. Stopped and grabbed some fresh fruits and found myself checking out for the night. The boys there were helpful and quick and courteous. All in all i have no one complaint about my experience here and the selection is phenomenal. I do, however, suggest the trip as opposed to the delivery option from their website. As i found many many sales in store that are not online. **Parking looks as though any hour you will be fine **Prices are much better then online/flyer or any other Asian market ive been to **Selection is great! **Free samples! **Courteous and helpful staff, and yes, they speak English **Looks like they have a BBQ outside to grab a snack during the day too! This place is fun!!!! Lots of different Asian things and food to explore. A big variety of noodles, dumplings and food that I don't know, but wanted to eat everything. My family wanted to buy some marinated BBQ to grill at home. They have a pretty good selection of meats and the taste is pretty good. I wouldn't buy the boneless kalbi becos it's too tough. My brother and I love snacks so we bought some chips. The Korean lady that is working there is very friendly. The first one helped my brother with looking for ingredients in Korean and the second lady helped my brother with the meat. They also have a good selection of snacks that go with rice such as kimchi and the little fried fishes. HMARTS can be found all over queens, wish there was one in Brooklyn. i live behind HMart on Union street and agree it's wonderful. but if you're from out of the area and come this far, you need to go to the Assi Plaza on College Point Blvd, about a mile away. This thing is as big as a football field with all kinds of stuff. Parking there is usually pretty good, big parking lot but sometimes you need to wait. email me for directions. This place has LOTS of options if you want to make an Asian meal. Great for hosting an Asian Themed Dinner. The staff here is very aggressive and unfriendly as most of Asians are. My favorite grocery shop. They got almost everything I need. Even the Korean Cosmetic store is located inside!!! If u r into K-drama, u could find same makeup kit for Korean celebrity. (Not shiseido.. It's japanese cheap stuff, however expensive in the state!) But the only problem is.... the toilet...... H Mark sells asian food + american food. It carries a lot of japanese food even it's a korean supermarket. I go there all the time. :)

I love this super market. Find very fresh fish here. I especially like a dozen of cherry stone clams for $4.00. They usualy cost $1.25 each at the restaurant. Vegetables are resonably priced as well. Highly reccommended. read more

H Mart's Food Court is a pretty safe bet, great selection at affordable prices. For meat lovers, the LA Galbi, Beef or Pork Dosilock lunch boxes are pretty good, the meat is plenty as well as fresh (it comes right from the supermarket without delay). Although their sides are ok at best, with the standard kimchi, salad, and soup fillers, considering the price, this is pretty damn well worth it. I tend to order the stew based dishes, such as the kimchi chigae or yukgaejang, renditions of the dish which I feel can hold their own, if not best what restaurants can make...especially at the price. This is a huge mart with a variety of selections. They have most of thing that I need like fresh vegetables, fruits , cooked food, seaweed and rice cakes and even some kitchen wares . I like the section for cooked food. I often buy the vegetable and fan fried fish and rice cakes. They also have a good selections of herbal tea. The imported herbal tea are very good. I and my family enjoy the herbal tea. They also have a small cafeteria which serve some simple Korean food. After shopping, I sometimes have a food there. It is pretty good. I was just here 10 minutes before 11 pm, a male cashier told me they already closed out everything , l said l only want one item but he insisted they were closed, so l went back to my car and l was about to leave and saw a lady parked her car and run in the supermarket, while l was waiting in my car for my friend to walk out from the supermarket, the lady bought something and came back out to her car next to mine, l asked her aren't they closed? She said she doesn't know about it and left, l felt really angry that l think the cashier lied about it and let the other customer bought something, l think because they might speak the same language and that's why he did that! I actually prefer Hmart over the other chinese supermarkets in queens. It's more inviting and less packed. Plus they give out free samples! YUM! I don't usually shop groceries but they have a nice selection of assorted chips and snacks. It's like guilty pleasure paradise when you walk down that aisle. They have fresh sashimi and salmon that is reasonably priced and tasty! read more

This is thee H Mart to go for everything. Whenever I am in the area, I hit this place up for their amazing produce and meat selections. I have recently discovered the best frozen dumplings made without MSG. Their dduk (rice cakes) were so-so and not as fresh as Han Ah Reum's. Their snacks, Pepero, mochi, and cookies are so darn addicting. While I am happy their prices are pretty reasonable, their sale prices are even better and I end up cleaning their shelves out on my favorites like chocolate almond Pepero! While there are many other H Marts to choose from in Flushing, I tend to come back to this one because of how clean, organized and spacious their store and parking lot is. The H Mart in K-town in the city is a joke compared to this one. Their H Mart always has a funky stench in the air, its super cramped and difficult to maneuver around in.
