Open for business in the Fresh Meadows Shopping Center

This would be my first experience shopping at this German based supermarket, Lidl. This store replaced the Michael's crafts store that had been here the previous 10 years. The complete renovation happened over a few months and we were anticipating the grand opening on 7/31/24. That first day was crazy crowded with no parking spaces in the entire lot and a line to get in that stretched through the parking lot, down to Haagen Dazs. Now that they've been open for a month, things have settled down. Some friends have commented that this Lidl is bigger than the ones they've been to. The best part of this Lidl has to be the in-store bakery right next to the entrance. The smell of fresh baked bread hits you in the face as soon as you walk in and you can't help grabbing some rolls and croissants. Sometimes the bread is BOGO. The regular bread prices are already dirt cheap at $0.79 for an everything bagel, $0.69 croissants and $0.39 mini kaiser & dinner rolls, but the 2 for 1 deal makes it a steal. Prices for everything else is either really good when it's on sale or don't bother and get it somewhere else. The staples like milk and eggs are on par with other stores. You just have to be careful on the pricing of some items even when they are supposedly on sale. Last week they had vacuum-packaged ribeye steaks for $6.99 each. They are small 10 oz each, but at that price, it works out to $11.18 per pound, while other supermarkets are selling larger steaks at $6.99 per pound on sale. As you go up & down the aisles, there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to how they group items. Some aisles seem to have close out and seasonal items you wouldn't normally see at a supermarket. Why do they sell 5 lb packages of plaster of Paris or 4'x1' kiddie pools? I'm still scratching my head on those. Try wrangling one of those onto the scanner at the self-checkout stations.

This is the third LIDL store in Queens! Perfect location to serve this neighborhood since most of the large grocery stores have closed in this area. Closest large supermarket is the key food half a mile away. I like Lidl because of the basic selection of the groceries which I need 90% of the time at good prices. Great bakery section and they always have the weekly specials. Btw restroom is in the lower level via elevator. Parking is plentiful. Easy access from LIE service road.

Nice to have a Lidl in the neighborhood. The store opened recently and is still a bit unorganized. Great prices on fruits & veggies. Corn on the cob was very sweet. Big fan of the croissants, tiramisu and pickle flavored chips. Download the app for coupons. Lots of parking. Wish more shopping carts were in front of the store instead of in the parking lot.

Can you read the price/lb?

I have been coming here each week for years and am forced to stop specifally for the Asian woman…read morewith glasses working at self checkout. (this is the only way I am able to describe her) On 11/15/2025 2:30- 3:00pm I simply asked to confirm my 10% discount in loyalty rewards for the promotion that began on 11/14 was applied to my final purchase. I was packing my items and could not monitor the transactions to verify. I confirmed that I had spent the required amount to qualify for the 10% discount and had clipped the rewards coupon digitally on line. The cashier called over one woman to verify this. She didn't seem to know so she then called the Asian woman. The Asian woman was abrasive and said I would only qualify if I spent the required amount during the promotion period. I verified I had. Then she insisted there was no way I could have clipped the coupon on line as she and/or management are the ones that have that authority to do so. I explained I was taught how to do this on line by one of their current employees and was unaware the practice had shifted. She took my rewards card and then came back quite some time later and rudely said " you got it already, look at your receipt!" I explained I had no receipt in my possession and hadn't even paid for my items. She kept demanding I look at my receipt. After feeling harrassed, embarrased and frustrated, I went to another woman who worked there - soft spoken with long curly hair (sadly I don't remember her name) who was kind enough to assist me. There have been reviews about this Asian woman's lack of professionalism and knowledge yet store management has chosen not to address this and instead will compromise customer service and experience. It's unfortunate as I truly believe so many employees here are caring and value customers and human beings in general but no consumer should have to be subjected to this conduct and behavior when buying weekly groceries. I am committed to supporting local businesses that value my patronage and this is not a place that does. Hopefully management cares enough to read this and make a difference.

To whoever the boss is: Disappointed with cashier 7 at Yongfa Supermarket on Main Street today…read more I put 3 bags of meat in a poly bag on the belt. She scanned them, slide them to the end, and when I asked her **in Mandarin** to put them back, she snapped, "我唔知,你沒問我,你要好好講先!" ("I didn't know--you should've asked nicely!") I replied **in Mandarin**: "我放進袋,你就應該放返入袋。" She was impatient, shoved them in rudely, and kept arguing with me first in mandarin and then in Cantonese about "what I'm supposed to do" and "what she can't do." Rude, defensive, and unprofessional--bad enough that I had to find a manager to complain on the spot. This kind of service is unacceptable. Hope management addresses it. #CustomerServiceFail Additional note: the ladies in the office added me to your WeChat group to post my complaint. Then when I posted it someone by the name of Sheng li removed me. I don't know what's the point adding me on WeChat and then remove my complaint without addressing it.

0 STARS for anyone…read morewho lives in this area, tread lightly entering this business. actually, just search for another supermarket to be completely honest. they are very rude and like to accuse their shoppers of stealing. I am a Hispanic woman and this is my 2nd time experiencing discrimination at this store (8/30/2025) and it's unfortunate because I've lived in this area for 6 years. customer service is non existent but i too would be miserable working in a dirty shop too. they throw your receipt and change at you with no regard. JUST RUDE + MISERABLE they promote sales with rotten spoiled fruit and vegetables. absolutely not worth it. one of the butchers stopped me from buying meat once and I never did again. may this business be bought and sold to another owner YOU GUYS ARE HORRIBLE
