She scanned them, slide them to the end, and when I asked her **in Mandarin** to put them back, she snapped, "我唔知，你沒問我，你要好好講先！" ("I didn't know--you should've asked nicely!") I replied **in Mandarin**: "我放進袋，你就應該放返入袋。" She was impatient, shoved them in rudely, and kept arguing with me first in mandarin and then in Cantonese about "what I'm supposed to do" and "what she can't do." Rude, defensive, and unprofessional--bad enough that I had to find a manager to complain on the spot. This kind of service is unacceptable. Small store - small parking lot (2-entrances : 59th Ave & 142nd Street) but has a lot of stuff including basics, prices seems similar to other oriental grocery stores. Park your own car dealing with challenged drivers. We got lucky and 2-cars left when we reached the parking lot. Inside the store is much cleaner (didn't see rotten fruits) now compared to before Covid. Definitely recommend to see for yourself. read more

We only shop here occasionally while visiting relatives in the area. Otherwise, it's pretty typical of these types of supermarkets that cater to the immigrant Chinese crowd. It's dirty, its employees are rude, and half of its produce is half rotten once taken home. I can honestly say that last part because half the fruits we've bought from there have been rotten on the inside. Apples, bananas, pears, avocados, etc. And, our relatives routinely give us fruits from this place as well, when they come visit. And of course, 1/2 to 3/4 of them end up in the trash. The only saving grace to these types of supermarkets is the fish/meat counter and veggies. They are pretty much what you see. And the prices are reasonable. Oh, and they have a tiny parking lot in a very crowded neighborhood, which makes it convenient. Non Chinese may be offended by the staff. But, rest assured, they treat nearly everybody the same way. I don't speak Chinese, so I get the same treatment anytime I ask any of them a question. And occasionally even my in-laws who ask in Chinese will get the brush off. Oh well. read more

The food is not fresh at all. The winter melon I bought I threw it out when I got home. It looked like from the trash, dirty and so bad that you could even find any part of it could be eaten. After reading the previous reviews it is my opinion that had I not been on a lunch & shopping Sunday with my seventy three year old, very stern (to some fortunate folks) Shanghaiese neighbor, my experience could have been different. The butcher paid me no mind at all -- until Jimmy stepped forward, then the dynamic changed. Social interaction aside, the meats were very well displayed, very fresh, bursting with all of the colors deep red can recreate and put forth. I bought ten pounds of liver and ten of pork ribs, all well priced -- and served --- with a forced grin. The middle aisles lack organization and labeling and could use a dusting and hot cloth towel down on the cans and jars. Along the far perimeter there is a significant frozen food section with many products, if each item had it's own shelf, it would be a lot. There could have been two hundred different items. Fish section is the first area upon entry, the tanked fish looked miserable, the dead ones looked quite happy. They all had crystal clear eyes, glistening scales and not a single unpleasant oderiferious emination. read more

Covid-19 update - They re-opened the market in the beginning of May 2020 and a mask is now required for entry. There's a man outside spraying the carts before you enter and gives you some gloves too. Lines weren't too long when I went. All employees have masks and some event goggles. The cashiers have plexiglass around them now too. This is definitely not my first choice when it comes to Asian supermarkets, however it's pretty convenient given that it has a parking lot and not being located in the heart of Flushing's Chinatown. I find myself coming after having dimsum at Lake Pavillion. They have vegetables, meats, and seafood but the market is much smaller than most other markets and selections are limited. If you're looking for something super specific I would say your chances of finding it here are slim. The butchers are there to cut meat for you and nothing else. They don't have the patience for you to take your time in figuring out what you want. I always think it through before talking to them because they definitely gave me an attitude more than a few times here. People stocking shelves are nice or try to help you find things. They never seem to understand me though. I asked for dark soy sauce on my most recent visit and they didn't know what it was. The cashier ladies are fast. Note they don't give bags anymore so bring your own reusable bags. read more

It smells terrible in here. I couldn't stomach walking around to check out the place. As soon as I walked in I was smacked in the face with a strong fishy aroma. I located my avocados and headed straight to checkout. The cashier didn't acknowledge me nor answer my question. Instead she started to ring me up and cough all over the place. She didn't even cover her mouth. As she was coughing I said yuck rather loudly, but that didn't deter her. What a major infraction. She kept coughing even when I expressed my opinion. What I find somewhat hilarious is that she had the audacity to wear gloves to protect herself from germs, but didn't mind spreading hers all over the place. read more

There was that one time during covid that Yong Fa Supermarket sold lobsters here for ($6) a pound and lychee for ($4) a pound. The selection is quite small for a Chinese supermarket. I was not able to find a tea that I was looking for and the fruits are more expensive than other Chinese supermarkets nearby. The supermarket closes at 8 pm on the dot but at 7 pm the lights were dimmed, groceries were covered, and seafood/meats were all packed away. read more

This supermarket is very convenient compared to other places. You don't need to drive down into the center of Flushing to find/pay parking and hassle with pedestrian who J-walk and deal with some careless drivers because there is a free private parking lot behind the supermarket. In addition, this supermarket is right by the exit 23 of LIE. The bad things about this supermarket is that it lacks of variety in their product offering, lighting is dim, and there is some smell as if the air filtering of the place is not running properly. read more

The supermarket is convenient located a block away from the LIE 495 and on main street. Its not as busy as the main street by the 7 train, which makes this supermarket a lot less crowded than those on the 7 train side. They have their own parking lot, which is nice. However, if its all taken, its not a huge deal because there's residential parking right around the corner. Prices here are always around the same and things don't really go on sale. They have a great seafood section and you can tell the meat is always fresh since there's always a lot of people buying meats and seafood, you know that they always need to restock with new food. I don't like the cleanliness and the lighting of the supermarket, it appears to be rundown and old. But this place has been around for quite some time now. This place used to be my local key food. Now, this place is a disgusting Asian supermarket. This place is absolutely disgusting. It wreaks of dead fish and lobster (fish places shouldn't smell like that.) The cashiers sit on chairs and text the entire time. They're so rude, don't speak any English. They've been known to tell American looking customers that "we don't belong here." The cashier once threw my change at me, for taking too long. The employees walk around and spit their chewing gum on the floor and leave it there. The floor is beyond filthy, I've never once see an employee their mopping the floors at all, it's black and very slippery to walk on. Surprised no one has ever slipped and fell, because they would've a very good lawsuit. I don't know how this place isn't violating safety laws. I've found some box cutters just laying behind items that the employees use. It was just beyond disgusting. The fish itself is very good at a very expensive price. Beyond the good fish, this place needs to be shutdown upon investigation. I've made many calls to 311 reporting the negligence of the supermarket, but it appears they don't seem to care. OK -- so I needed to buy lobsters and figured I'd check out this Asian market since it has the closest fish market (that sells shellfish) from KGH. I walk in and the smell of fish is extremely strong. "No big deal," I tell myself. They sell a lot of fish and it may just be an off day. So, I go to the fish section and I see the lobster tank. There are literally 200 lobsters (probably more) crammed into what seems like a large size fish tank people would have in their homes to hold a few goldfish. Not good. I grab one of the workers attention and tell them I need some lobsters. The older Asian gentleman smirks, nods his head, and walks over to a bucket of sorts and pulls out a lobster. He holds it up, and with a grin exclaims "JUST DIED JUST DIED." It took me a second, but I quickly realized this man was trying to sell me dead lobsters. I looked at him in an unmeasured manner and said "no way." Seriously? Did this man sit next to the lobster on its death bed and hold its claw before it died? Please!!! And, most importantly, what did they die from? Multiple dead lobsters "just died" on one day? Don't they realize how unlawful and unsafe it is to sell dead lobsters? From the look of the tank, there were probably many many LONG DEAD lobsters buried in this insanely packed lobster tank. At this point, though, I was in a pinch and had guests coming over and needed lobsters. Should I just hop on the LIE and go to Fairway, or risk delving into the "live" lobster tank? I figured as long as I made sure they were alive, and I had it smoldering in a pot of boiling water to cook, we'd be fine. The man packed up my live lobsters and I proceeded to the checkout. The cashier looked beyond miserable, and barely raised her hand to give me my change. (I am not even factoring customer service into my one star rating, as I know Flushing is notorious for nonexistent customer service so I usually don't even pay it any mind. But it was enigmatic of the store as a whole.) I feel bad for Queensboro Hill. Needless to say, I will never be back to this gross place again! read more

I'm standing there picking out dragon fruit and my cart is parked to the side. This guy comes down the aisle with a Saber machine that he is using to clean the floor. He doesn't say, "excuse me" or "can you please move your cart?"... he plows right through the cart. I'm standing there like, "excuse sir, seriously?" And he keeps on going. I went there yesterday with my mom and the cashier was very rude, arrogant and condescending and not helpful at all. We had some issues when paying and she did not know how to figure things out on her register machine and how to select the payment option that we needed. She wanted us to pay in cash instead of trying to figure out what the issue was. She had this smirk on her face the whole time. Turned out, it was her own stupidity. Come here when you want sad but cheap produce or if you just feel the need to assault your olfactory senses with the smell of slightly rancid seafood. The floors are always slightly muddied and stained, which isn't necessarily a must-have for a supermarket, but it just adds to the feeling of 'ick' that pervades as soon as you walk in. It's a good market to visit in a pinch, particularly if you suddenly realize you need those long beans or a jar of hoisin sauce (read: ingredients typically used in Asian cooking). They do have a small section for non-Asian groceries but this is primarily a Chinese market, and the prices are marked with an obvious disdain for people who are dropping in for boxes of cereal (some of which are nearly $5-$6). I recently found this to be a good thing when I came about $5 shy of the $20 credit card minimum. Throw in some ketchup and Goya beans, and my bill was immediately bumped up to a plastic-friendly $21.75. There's a private parking lot out back but it can get pretty busy, depending on what time you go. High density hours seem to be around dinnertime, when you see every car on the street turning into that dinky lot. Top that with the fact that the lot is shared with the Napa Auto Shop next door and you've got a good chance that you might have to wait a few minutes for parking during market prime time. read more

I usually go here for fresh vegetables, and fish. I most enjoy this supermarket for the interesting fruits and vegetables unknown to me. Another plus is the parking lot in the back but beware, there's a lot of wild drivers in the area (seemingly clueless to street signs and road etiquette). This supermarket conducts credit card fraud. We used one of our very rarely used credit card in this supermarket once, then 2 days later we have about 20 fraudulent charges on this card. I stopped at this supermarket intending to buy fresh fish, but I was quickly turned away by two fish department attendants. When I asked the first attendant for flounder fillets, pointing to the flounders, he hardly responded with an unfriendly grunt and quickly walked away! I didn't take it personally, so I asked a second attendant, but again I received another unfriendly grunt and he walked away as well. At this point I suspected that, maybe the reason for their behavior is that I'm not Asian. They told me system will not update if it is weekly on sale advertise, so if you think u getting it on sale price, they might charge you full original prices due to the system! This supermarket is convenient since it is right off the LIE. There's a parking lot in the back but there are not that many places. The floors are pretty clean with no veggies/fruits on the floor however there are flies swarming here and there. The prices for the veggies/fruits are pretty decent. At the meat section, the staff can give you an attitude if you ask for something in particular. For instance, my mom wanted some smaller pieces of chicken drumsticks. And this staff member gave the bag of the drumsticks and said (in Chinese), "they're all the same. you pick them yourself then." Clearly, they're not so my mom gave him back the bag and said she wasn't going to purchase them. You just need to be firm with them or else they'll take advantage of you. Also, once you check out, make sure you check your receipt. Not in this markets, but sometimes, in other markets, the cashier rings up an item you didn't even buy, which is pretty messed up. read more
