This store put the wrong price on a product. It was over a dollar lower than the real price charges at checkout. When I complained, the woman at the checkout made up a lie about it being a different version of the product, but the price thing on the shelf clearly identified the product in question. This store is stealing from its customers. Will never shop there again, and it's only a few blocks from my apartment. read more

didn't even know this market existed in my hood til Facebook ad which publishes their circular weekly. I saw a few items on their circular that i needed so i decided to check them out. The store has no parking lot so it is street parking. The store is very new and clean looks well stock. Their produce veggies/fruit looks to be great quality. The reason for 3 star and not 5 is because the circular price does not apply to this store. I came home and looked at circular again and it clearly states that sales price may not apply to all store and that each store is independently owned. So the quality here is fantastic but price is very high. read more

I always shop in this store and keep giving it chances. Never going back here! great local grocery store. they usually have all my favorites in stock. their veggie section can be a little meager but if you time it right, and are flexible about when during the week you do your shop, it works. the store is always neat, i have never really found expired items, cashiers don't always know the items they carry but they will try to point you in the right direction, and most are very sweet and personable. the meat person is nice, the deli personnel are the sweetest, and the manager (i don't see him much lately) is great. the aisles are a little tight (two carts cannot fit past some of the non-perishable aisles) so skip a lane and loop around. they aren't perfect: as someone mentioned, street (metered) parking, could have other items (all of their bread in the bakery section is always hard), would love better cheese section, meat i have to cook (mostly chicken) within 36 hrs or it starts smelling foul (ha!), but all in all i am pretty happy. i have also used their recycling machines in the back though not lately. read more

I stopped by around the time it opened up a few days ago and was pleased to see this nice and clean supermarket in the neighborhood. I remember rarely ever going to Strawberry Farms (unless it was urgent) because the quality wasn't great. At Met Fresh, the veggies were all tidy and super fresh. The organic produce were in the own section, which was interesting. Those that buy solely organic can venture to this section to shop. The prices are no Strawberry Farms, but it's quality here. I'm not surprised by the prices. Milk does seem to be pricier here like my go to milk, which is almost $2 more here. Other than that, I really enjoyed my first experience at Met Fresh. I'll be stopping by if I need to stock up on certain fruits or foods! I went at an off time so I was able to find parking, but I feel like you might have to look during busier times. But that's fine especially if the weather is warmer since it is a neighborhood market. I'm glad that they continued a supermarket here instead of something else! This is by far the worst market I have been to. The prices are a bit higher than usual, but I suppose that was expected for a small business. It kind of sucks when they are, in no way competitive with other neighboring stores like Store & Shop, a few minutes away. I kind of had high hopes, but it was quickly disappointed when their selections are the same as everywhere else, but the prices are higher. Although higher than expected, that did not bug me at all, but the comment that came afterwards when I speaking to my friend about it. A young gentleman working at the store behind the counter, by the entrance, arrogantly replied back with "why don't ya shop there then?" I was completely shocked by his comment. I wanted to yell back, but my friend pulled me out. Complete disappointment, terrible management, and rude customer service. read more

Ridiculously overpriced and horrible online grocery shopping experience. My sister in law placed an order for delivery a few weeks back for myself and her and metfresh never delivered. A date was set per the confirmation, and nothing arrived the day of. I called and they pretty much said they're delayed due to overwhelming orders from covid. Well, that's why they had time slots, no? And we had one secured. The person then went on to say that their website isn't accurate and if we didn't order "5 days in advance", then we wouldn't be receiving our order til later on even with our confirmed date. Fast forward a few days later and still no update. We called again and they then said our grocery will arrive in a day or two. A week has since gone by before we called again and they pretty much said they're still not ready to fulfill our order and it'll be easier for their staff if we can just go in and pick up the things we paid for online. What?? Isn't the whole point of being able to order Store to door grocery to avoid going to the physical market? In the end, we had to cancel our order and shop elsewhere. Literally waited a week+ for nothing and had to deal with the mess that is metfresh. read more

Today was the third time I went there because I just needed some garlic. Met had garlic for $4.99 lb. Most expensive price in markets in my area have been selling it for $3.69 lb. Also, I looked at romaine hearts to buy but the bag of 3 was $5.99 and it was old because few bags they had all had brown spots, so not very fresh. When I commented to the man at cash register about price of garlic really going up, he said everything went up. To this I said not in other markets in area. His response was "So why don't you shop there". What great PR! Also last time I was there this same guy overcharged me, but I noticed and he corrected price but I never heard an apology. They are way overpriced and not too friendly. So I can unequivocally say that I am definitely not going there ever again, only if they are the very last market open in NY. read more

One of my favorite supermarkets when I am at my mothers house in Whitestone. Everything is fresh and always stocked. The staff is always helpful and accommodating especially to my 70 year old mother. The manager and owner always help her carrying her groceries to the car. Definitely recommend! read more

This was the second time I went there and the second time we were overcharge. The first time, the used the wrong price for the loose coffee and we caught it. This time the fruit was not entered correctly on the computer and scanned in at the higher price. How come there is always an over charge and NEVER an under charge. Absolute shocker for me when I walked in. I am not going to say what day or time this incident happened, but it was completely uncalled for and should not have occurred in front of a customer. Upper management should know better and behave professionally especially in front of their employees they hired. They should lead by example and held to a higher standard, but sadly what I saw displayed is utter rudeness and lack of common sense, far from what I envisioned from a business. I have been shopping here pretty regularly since Met Fresh opened, so allow me to provide a fresh take on things to counter some of these disparaging reviews. Produce : Mostly good. Depending on the sales, they have competitive pricing. I admit that there have been occasions where certain things are a bit past prime, but it's easy to enough to observe and avoid. I also appreciate that they make the effort to keep organic fruits and veggies. Pantry: I absolutely love their selection. Lots of Greek and Italian imported items. I do a fair amount of stocking up on my staples here. Dairy/Frozen: Last I checked, Milk here is less expensive than Shop Rite. Great cheese selection, multiple types of feta (swoon). Ice cream is much more expensive here than a big market but that's to be expected. Meat: I buy Bell & Evans chicken here, and it's priced fairly. Not sure about other meats, but the section always smells sanitary, so that's a good sign. Deli: Give me spinach pie, or give me death. Theirs is the best. Staff: Always very nice. I've never had a problem. read more

The butcher personally prepared a pot roast for us and will do a prime rib bone off and tied back on at a future date. Their to-go food looked yummy and a great cold cut/ cheese selection. I would definitely not recommend this place for online delivering especially during the coronavirus. It is horrible service. Do not believe them when they say it will come the same day. When you call them up, they are very rude and will lie about when the order will come. Then I finally received my order and of the things I ordered are wrong!! When I called about the wrong items, they wouldn't give me a credit. They totally messed up my order. The guy delivering was absolutely disgusting. He was disgusting coughing all over the stuff and handing me the bags. He was also spitting all over. He was very rude too. If you are thinking about ordering stuff from them don't do it. Refused to take it back to me to covid which I understand if I was returning an item I want but they sold me an inferior product and should refund me the cost. Honestly I am convinced that negative reviews on Yelp towards MetFresh supermarket were penned by competitors in the general area who felt threatened. First of all - people are complaining about rude staff - totally false nonsense. I have been shopping at MetFresh for my family for several years and I have never had a single bad experience with any of their staff, either behind the deli counter, at the registers, or when I once needed to return an item (dealt with a male manager who was beyond kind to me). Everyone there is actually very pleasant, helpful and always prompt. Plenty of other places you can rot while standing on a slow moving checkout line with apathetic cashiers preoccupied having personal chitchats, but not here - the cashiers pay attention to the customer in front of them and they are doing their jobs. Second - it's a well-stocked and nicely kept gourmet sort of supermarket, always clean and organized. Items on display always look tidy, never disheveled and sloppy. The folks who own/run it have plainly gone to some lengths to make it a nice looking and appealing place. It's also definitely more elegantly stocked than more budget-level marketplaces. There are plenty of imported, international/European items worth looking at. There is also a fancy, separate cold-storage section just for alcoholic beverages, for those interested. And therefore - yes - they're a bit pricey compared to, say, ShopRite on 20th Avenue, but for the neighborhood and the quality of offerings overall, their prices are completely fair. You might pay 50 cents or so more for certain items, but MetFresh also has a circular listing promotions AND they run plenty of great sales in-store for anyone not completely lazy or ignorant - so you can enjoy shopping and saving money. People are just ridiculous. If you can't love this MetFresh, you can't love anything. Let me add for good measure - they have some excellent, delicious prepared/cooked foods behind their deli counter and also conveniently packaged to-go meals. Their lightly seasoned grilled chicken cutlets are a long-time favorite in our house. I was more than compelled to write this review tonight when I was simply searching them online to verify their hours and noticed the first Yelp result (panning them), which astounded me - don't believe the naysayers!! MetFresh deserves to be recognized for what it really is, which is a neighborhood gem. This area of Whitestone is fortunate to have a clean, nice place close by with infinitely more convenient evening hours than Marino's, infinitely cleaner inside than Whitestone Dairy Farms, and much closer than North Shore Farms, Food Universe, or ShopRite, to be able to shop at. My family and I are all happy to be regular MetFresh customers, it's simply a wonderful place. read more

Today I wait till the afternoon to call and the manager said nothing is in stock, but without a phone call or apologize that they charged my credit card, just very rude tell me nothing is available. I do most of my food shopping here and I disagree with a lot of the negative reviews on here, so i felt like i had to write in with my experiences. No matter what i need, Met Fresh always has it, especially during this pandemic. i went last week and there were Lysol cleaners everywhere, which is great because i am unable to find any Lysol products on Amazon/elsewhere. There are always great sales in every aisle & they have EXCELLENT dairy and non-dairy selections (like Califia Farms, Oatly, Icelandic Provisions (!!), etc etc etc). The deli counter isn't my absolute favorite, but it does the job for cold cuts. Also, very importantly, the people who work there are the best & very friendly/accomodating. they always say hi and ask what i am looking for and try to help out as best they can... really great people and management!! read more

They reduce price on chicken and meat that is expired or not so fresh. Check the produce thoroughly it does not last very long either. Won't dare try the seafood department. Moderately priced, friendly staff. Hoping owners read this and correct the problems. Store is very conveniently located and can generate a large clientele. They really had everything I was looking for , from fresh produce, great meat, a big selection on grocery items, but my favourite was the new selection of Italian deli cut items that they have in the deli.
