While in the area of Forest Hills, I saw this Trader Joe's, so I decided to stop in to get goodies Coming here today was a real treat. There is an escalator, an elevator, they even have a parking garage for shoppers. Which is very convenient and relieving due to parking restrictions and street cleaning regulations. Trader Joe's offer so many healthy items. I adore the tropical aesthetics that always creates a fun and exciting atmosphere for me. My catch for today (excuse the pun) was trout, salmon, mussels, and oyster all items are smoked. I even scored some organic popcorn prepared with organic extra virgin olive oil. The aisle are spacious to the point where, if there's a lot of people, you still have room to navigate the store without crowding each other. The lines were long and I found it confusing, I thought one line was for self check out and the for regular check. I got off the line to check and some on took my spot. Lol! I forgot Trader Joe's doesn't provide self checkout. Some people prefer self check out and some love human interaction. The lines moved fast because they had so many registers open. You wait on line and the cashier holds up a number of his registers. Indicating his/her availability. There is an attendant at the beginning of the line, he/she directs you to which cashier is available. The entire shopping experience was relaxing, however, there are improvements needed. The escalator leading downward was not in use at the moment. I had to walk back to the elevator. I was looking for ghee as well but didn't find it. It was still a good shopping experience. I can't wait to eat and .. Inspire more, Yelp more!

So coming on the heels of my first underground Costco, this was my first underground TJ's The store was quite large and well stocked. When i arrived I had a mini freak out. The line to check out snaked throughout the store and was so long they had a staff member holding a sign to indicate where the end was!. However my freakout subsided when i realized they also had nearly 30 checkout areas all manned so the line went reasonably quick. Aside from that it was your typical TJ's and had the usual suspects stocked. I did not buy much so could take the stairs, but larger loads will need the elevator which had lines top and bottom

Love Trader Joe's! Happy with this location - it's in the basement and lines move quickly. It's a convenient location for those in the neighborhood. No complaints!

This Trader Joe's is extremely convenient for Forest Hills residents in the area, being just a couple of blocks from the transit hub at 71st Ave - Continental Ave with the E, F, M & R trains and multiple bus lines. With the many customers from the high rise apartment buildings along Queens Blvd, Jewel Ave and Yellowstone Blvd, it gets pretty busy down here all the way until closing. There is no parking lot like other suburban TJ's, but there is an underground parking garage in the same building, but I don't know the cost or if there is validation. My preference is coming to shop in the evenings and Sundays when I can park along Queens Blvd for free. The store is located in the basement of this new apartment building and you take the escalator or elevator down to the selling floor where you can pick up your shopping cart. I prefer the double-stack carts because they are more maneuverable even though the aisles are wider than your normal TJ's, but it does get crowded, so getting around people is more important, especially when they leave their carts in the middle of an aisle. All the standard items seen at other TJ's are stocked here and the crew here do a great job to keep shelves stocked all day. What you'll always see in my cart and others is the great looking fresh produce, especially the bananas that are 19¢ each (29¢ for organic). My wife loves their prepared salads for their convenience to take for weekday lunches. I like the frozen quick-prepare meals that I can whip up in minutes when I get home from work. The Kung Pao Chicken is excellent for that, is very tasty and you can enhance the dish by adding more veggies or garnishes. The checkout lines are managed very well with 2 main lines that are distributed up to 30 registers by an associate sending you to an open register. Look for your assigned sales associate with the raised number paddle to pay for your groceries. Then take your goodies home, cook and enjoy!

The new location in Forest Hills just opened about 2 mins ago. The location is great for the area, but parking is hard to find. Subway transit and busses are easily accessible. The store is in the basement. There is plenty of space to move around with their shopping carts. The store is very clean and check out is fast. I bought a few frozen meals. The one Im trying is spicy peanut noodle bowl with chicken. The noodle bowl was very tasty. Smells delicious. Noodles were soft, seasoned very well, and a little bit of heat. I enjoyed my meal for lunch. I would definitely get it again

The new Trader Joes supermarket, in Forest Hills is finally open! Nice wide aisles. Very huge and spacious, with an area of 17,000 square feet. A long time in waiting and it's finally open. Gotta come here and get my ice cream fix on. They have the new seasonal flavors of Celebration Cake Gelato, Gingerbread ice cream and super premium pumpkin ice cream. Try them while they last, after the season is over, they won't be available until next year. If you are into desserts, this place has a pretty good selection. Their double chocolate muffins is super yummy. A new favorite is orange scones which which look and taste like from an expensive bakery. Perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee. They also have tasty gluten free options. No into cooking tonight? Great selection of frozen meals. Decor: The interior is decorated with a rich comic book history of Forest Hills. This place is a great substitute for the small supermarket which was originally in this spot. Grand opening on Tuesday, so there was a line down the block but it moved quickly. This place is usually crowded during popular hours. But they do have a lot of registers. Street parking only.

This TJ location opened yesterday and it's close to commercial and residential areas. You can get to this location by subway or bus though trying to find parking might be a challenge similar to TJ's LIC location. In this location, it's 1 floor. You can use the escalator or the elevator to reach the shopping area. As you walk in, you are in the flower section both potted and cut flowers. The layout is a bit different from other locations though it takes a bit of getting used to. Tried finding some of the items though this location doesn't have them. If you are looking for kimbaps, it's gone so keep checking since there might be another shipment arriving soon. The crowds weren't too bad though I went during off-hours or non-peak times. Hope you enjoy your TJ goodies.

This has to be one of the best Trader Joe's I've ever been in. I was shocked by how large it is. I've never seen a grocery store in New York quite like it. The aisles are really wide, great selection, and they even have security. Probably the biggest selection I've seen at a Trader Joe's as well. Highly recommend checking out the prepared food section. Also, they have a really efficient checkout area at this location. All around a pretty great experience.

Very spacious new location. They were pretty well stocked in the middle of the day. The isles are wide and checkout went very quickly. Parking is a pain, but it's not a location where one needs a car so it's understandable.

I frequently shop at Trader Joe's Metropolitan Ave and Garden City by driving. Am happy that this location opened and I only have to drive my shopping cart. :) Opening day today so expected a long line. It went almost around the block but it moved so fast and I was inside in about 10 minutes. Was welcomed by live music and a free shopping bag (I heard the first 100 customers got a bag of goodies). The store space is huge. 2 elevators and escalators get you there. No cell signal though. Nice to see everything neatly stocked, new carts and baskets too. I don't have to over-buy bec. can just return when needed. So many employees to help customers and check out is efficient. Accessible by the Q60 bus on Queens Boulevard and around 3-4 blocks from 71st Continental Ave subway. Within the first week though, one of the escalators are not working, then one of the elevators too.

Now that's funny! But the mini eggplants were decrepit and turning fast, I bought some deep purple bigger ones for counter balance. One never knows the schedule of incoming, so outside shopping can be hit or miss. Yesterday was a miss, today likely will be a hit although I'm packed to the rafters at home now. Cauliflower, pears, carrots, celery, peppers, strung beans all for under a dollar and a half per pound, the market fluctuates as the product diminishes, giving itself back to nature in death and decay but you'll never encounter that stage on display. The smoked fish display is always my favorite stop, Chubs are $4.99 a pound and they last a goodly while in the fridge, so I bought my usual three. I LOVE that they're perched upon the top of the counter, not displayed behind the glass of a case. I feel more inclined to buy in this scenario, I see they're orange brown eyes and I wonder about their lives prior to landing here. Anyway, I accidentally parked illegally and no ticket was given making this Sunday shopping excursion a total success, minus the baby eggplant.

I've only been to one other Aldi's (out of state) and that seemed to be more relaxed, organized, and clean, but this one seems to attract some of the worst shoppers I've ever encountered: shamelessly opening packages, knocking products down, destroying items, and misplacing them. I get it's a discount market and that this shopping center in particular pulls in most of Queens but it's reminiscent of Black Friday in the 2000s most of the time--at all hours. So many aggressive shoppers who are very likely ready to shove you. It is somewhat better during the weekdays and I always get most of what I need. Their meat and cheese selections are excellent and decently priced. I don't suggest getting anything brand-name because they definitely charge a little more than elsewhere but for everything else, you can tell when big labels make an off-brand version for Aldi. The staff is here and there at times and they are definitely understaffed, even during peak hours. I've seen them get frustrated with unaware shoppers, which is understandable. Don't make this your one-stop shop if you live in the area or have a market near you. Not worth the stress navigating through people and long lines at times.
