Recently renamed New Yellowstone Farms, this long time produce market and grocer reorganized and refreshed their layout but remains largely the same. They offer some of the better quality produce selection among stores in the Queens Boulevard stretch near Yellowstone Blvd, and conveniently have extensive hours, in case there's a late evening need for herbs or more.
Forest Hills has proven challenging to get produce that is both good quality and accessibly priced. Pricing goes with the neighborhood, hard to argue with that, but Yellowstone Farms prices are usually fair. More importantly, the quality of produce is reliably decent, which cannot be said for the Key Foods or C Towns in the area. Selection is fine for popular items, and they'll often unexpectedly carry some less common things, but it still won't be the place to go for something obscure.
As a small grocer, there are several aisles of canned, boxes, and bagged foods; beverages in large and small formats, with a refrigerated section; dairy; packaged cheese and cured meats; condiments and seasonings; and fresh cut flowers up front.
Small business staff, they are fairly attentive and service is good. Checkout usually very efficient. Good produce and grocer in the neighborhood. read more
