My friend who lives in Jackson heights took me to Mango Rico for cheap vegetables and fruits. This is what I like when I go shopping in the area. There are so many supermarkets and for grocery shopping you can find everything here. Mango Rico is a small place with lots of food but the con is there is also space to walk without pumping in to another customer. The way they organize the line to the cashier is not so convenient. With the long line I need to pass everyone in the order to go to the back. Another thing is they don't accept credit card so you must have cash. But pro is the price is cheap.

We load up on veggies once a week when we are in Queens to watch our grandkids. Always some great bargains that define our vegan meal week.

Be carful with the cashiers they overcharge thinking you won't notice. Make sure to check your receipt.

HF Dollar & Up is…read moreeasily one of the most affordable grocery stores in the entire borough and it happens to be 24 hours and located right next to the Woodside MTA station. There was a time where most things were right around $1. It's as if a 99 cent discount store had a baby with a bodega, resulting in the mini-supermarket feel that it is now. While prices have risen, it is still considered affordable for the area. Expect produce prices to be between $2-5 depending on the item. There's also more than just produce, there is meat as well as seafood. Prepackaged goods are also available and there's a number of an imported items. If one is lucky, the store bodega cat might make an appearance. Service is not going to be that helpful and the quality of a lot of things are probably not going to be optimal. The store is also not the cleanest or the most organized. However, if one can spend $20 walk out with a fish, snacks, and a decent selection of fruit, that's a deal anywhere, but especially NYC. Like all affordable things in NY, it is strictly cash only.

I find most of my Asian seasonings here. Their ramen is cheaper than HMART and I love looking at all the different sauces/seasonings. Pretty awesome spot!!…read more I can speak for the smoothie/juice bar which is an extension of the market area. Based off of first impression this spot is very clean. They have the fruits and veggies ready to go and all of them are bright and fresh. Nothing looked like it had been sitting out. The service was quick and friendly too. They also have free samples of hot apple juice. I tried the one with pomegranate and it was delicious. Literally the most perfect fall treat! What we had: - Yellow Power Smoothie: my husband got this and he says it was really good. It was perfectly balanced and he drank this one pretty quickly! - Build your own Juice: love that they have this option! So helpful when you don't exactly vibe with any of the ones on the menu. I chose one with carrot, orange, and watermelon. The juice was perfectly balanced! I tasted hints of all the components in every sip, not too much of any one ingredient. I would definitely make this my go to spot for juices and smoothies if I lived in the neighborhood. 100% recommend!

They have about 14 different types available (7 juices and 7 smoothies), though you're also able to create your own. We love that they use FRESH everything in each of their recipes! You can literally watch them grab the fruits and veggies needed for your drink as they place them into the juicer/blender. It's very reassuring to see this as you can't always trust fresh ingredients are being used in other places that make smoothies. When ordering a smoothie, they'll ask what you want for the base. The options are Apple juice, coconut water, almond milk or water. We almost always choose coconut water as it's a great source of electrolytes AND tastes absolutely delicious with any of the smoothies using tropical fruits. They also have a delicious Apple cider tea! It's always out (hot and fresh), they have about 4 different varieties and they allow free samples. I love the clove and ginger flavor and my husband loves the ginger honey flavor. You can purchase this as an individual cup or as a half gallon or gallon option. I can't wait for autumn to hit as this tea is PERFECT for a chilly autumn day! And I plan to purchase in bulk to keep at home so I can indulge without having to walk so far every time I want it. Our new Sunday ritual is to buy our produce and then grab a juice/smoothie from here. We love coming here and I'm sure you will too!

We tend to buy most of our fruits and veggies here with the exception of a few items. The produce here is MUCH more fresh than what's available in the grocery stores nearby!! Highly recommend you come here instead. The one big downside is that it's pretty small inside. So you're constantly bumping into people. And in order to pay, you have to squeeze yourself allllllllll the way to the back of the market. I suggest not coming here with a ton of big bags in hand because you will DEFINITELY run into people and it's not a fun experience for the other patrons in the market... **They have a $4 minimum of you plan to pay with card! The prices were high for some and reasonable for others like fresh corn (4 for $2.00) and the potatoes were reasonably priced as well. The fresh dates were a little pricey but I haven't seen them being sold by me so I bought a few. The lady behind the counter was fast in ringing up my items. Ambiance - All of the produce were laid out nicely and well. It was like eye candy. I wouldn't mind stopping by this place again next time I'm in the neighborhood. I recommend all to check out this market.

4/5 food 2/5 service…read more This is a quiet, cash-only spot. I came here to do some work, and get a small snack. I came in around 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. It was dead empty with the exception of one person waiting for their to-go order, and entire time I was sitting there eating and drinking, only three other customers came in. I walked up to the counter to see what the food options were (the onigiri is on display in a case, kinda like a deli shop), and the drink menu is up hanging up high in small print behind the counter. The cashier asked me immediately what I wanted and I told him I was still looking at the menu; he told me to call him over once I was ready so he didn't have to stand. Once I ordered, he asked me if I have cash and asked if they were cash only to which he said yes. Side note: if a shop is cash only, signs should be posted in multiple areas (on the door, at the counter, etc.), and this place did not have any signs. I got the salmon onigiri and a hot lemon ginger honey tea and it came to $8. The tea is from those pre-made jars that you can purchase at any Asian market. The onigiri was very tasty and the rice was very soft. One of the better ones I've had in NYC. After I ordered, I saw a "no laptops" sign tucked away in the corner. So there went my plans of working in a quiet shop, though I did hop on a zoom meeting for an hour on my phone. I made it work. This is a cute spot for grab-and-go, though the service could use improvement. And considering there are no customers, I don't know why there's no laptop rule.

The owner was super friendly, welcoming and just the type of person that makes you want to visit again. Food: wanted to try their sushi but they ran out. The owner said he only makes a certain amount for the day and once they run out, he doesn't make more. I had the calamari sandwich and the pork sandwich. Both very tasty but a bit overpriced for my opinion. $10 for a pork sandwich seems a bit much. They really need to update the online menu because it says $5 on it so was quite shocked when I got there and saw the price. All in all, it is a nice place to visit with great staff and yummy food but with that price, won't be going as often as I would like.
