They are only open on Sundays so make sure to make it early to get all these great products. My favorite reason to go is to interact with the workers. My favorite employee is Pierina; she would always have a smile on her face and was always available to help. When I didn't have cash, she would help me with the debit and credit tokens. I have not seen her in a while so I am wondering what happened to her since she has been working there every Sunday since I can remember. I will try to locate her at other green markets.

Smaller than the Saturdays Union Square Farmers' Market but also packed with lots of variety!…read more I enjoy visiting this farmers' market because of the variety of produce brought to the local street(s). One can find anything from flowers to herbs, spices, fruits, veggies, apple cider, Korean pastes, free samples, vegan baked goods, breads, cookies, fish, duck and other poultry, pig products, beef, assorted mushrooms, tamales (the one closer to 78th street is best, but if you're up for a sweet or dessert tamale, go to the lady on 80th), booze, syrups, honeys, NYC groups that take used clothing and textiles, compost, and a recycling book stand where anyone can take, swap, or donate books. It's also one block away from Travers Park which was recently updated. Great place to go for a stroll and enjoy. Happy shops!

For someone who doesn't have access to a car or buying things in bulk, I needed to get paper towels, 4 at best at the nearest place possible at the time. Got the Bounty double sheets paper towels for 4 rolls. They charged me $26.00 in total just for that. I could've gone to a chain store like Costcos or Target and bought a pack of 25 paper towel rolls for that price. The cashier spoke in such a thick accent when I asked him how much were the rolls as it was so difficult to understand him. By the time I got my change back, I counted it and couldn't believe how high the cost was. I was extremely fatigued the work week to argue for my money back so left it at that. But this will be the last time I ever give any business to this deli as I'm sure they charge 3x's more than the average price sells for any item. And this is just on paper towels, I don't even want to fathom on how much they've done this on other items.

Overall a typical bland corner bodega in Astoria but the flowers are good enough and that warrants a 3 star yelp review.

Great place to find seasonal fruits and vegetables, along with dairy products, honey, and more…read more There are farms from Long Island and the Hudson Valley selling their products here. It takes place every Sunday from 8am-2pm. The vendors are set up next to MacDonald Park off Queens Blvd, and part of the service road and 70th Ave are closed to cars which makes it nice to stroll through. The greenmarket is open year-round, so even in the winter you can still find items like squash, apples, leafy greens, herbs, eggs, and milk.

On the day I visited, there were about 10-12 vendors from NY, NJ, and beyond, and the majority of them were farms offering produce. I did a little comparison shopping, and prices between them were pretty similar. There were free samples here and there too. And the selections varied so they weren't all selling the exact same tomatoes and greens. Besides fruits and veggies, I spotted baked goods, honey, dairy products, and meat. One cool thing about this particular Greenmarket is that there was a book swap and a composting station too. The layout is tight. All the vendors are in a row along the sidewalk, and they take up most of the sidewalk so at times you have to dodge other people, children, bikes, strollers, and dogs. Speaking of dogs, there's a dog run in the adjacent park. Of course, I ended up buying/spending too much, but it was well worth it for the delicious fresh local ingredients!

Pros: Carries a great variety of imported food from the Mediterranean (i.e. Greek honey and spices,…read moreItalian beans/flour, Turkish pistachio spread). I would come here specifically for those type of items - that's the highlight of this grocery store. Cons: Those 6 parking spots in the front are coveted AF (to quote Dylan from the TV show Severance). I've almost seen a few fights breaks out over those spots, and in my opinion it's not worth it because people don't know how to reverse out of the spot and will end up scraping the side of your car. No trip to Raspberry Farm is complete without honking at someone or getting honked at - it's part of the experience. Also, as other reviewers have said, many of the items on the shelves are expired. Be sure to always check the expiration date of anything you buy.

Strong representation from Greece in the form of cheeses, oils, grains, olives, and specialty items. Turkish, Moroccan and Spanish/Latin American groceries show up when available. Now and then a random item shows up on sale, offering a chance to sample a new olive oil or balsamic vinegar. Very good job bringing seasonal imports in around the holidays - pandoro, panettone, torrone. Caveats are: freshness of produce is hit or miss, and ALWAYS check the expiration dates as sometimes older stuff stays in stock.

It was really good and fresh and reasonably priced. A true neighborhood jewel !

Really bad customer service and a very disappointing experience. I don't like to generalize, but…read morethe guy working at the counter tonight, September 10, was extremely rude and had a really bad attitude from the beginning. We asked for a juice with pineapple, apple, and cucumber, he asked us to choose a base, and we said water. He looked at us with an attitude, so we repeated, "water," and he just said "okay" in a very dismissive way. On top of the poor customer service, the juice itself was really bad. The apple tasted old and had almost no fresh flavor, and the pineapple flavor was also off. The pulp wasn't properly folded or mixed into the juice, so it was left dry and separated instead of being incorporated properly. For an $8 juice, I honestly don't think the quality or the service was acceptable. The whole experience felt rushed, careless, and unwelcoming. I'm paying $8 for a fresh juice, so I expect decent ingredients, proper preparation, and at least basic customer service. Unfortunately, we got none of those things tonight. Really disappointing experience, especially because it could have been easily avoided with better service and more attention to the order.

Lastly I stopped at Meredith's Bakery and got an unbleached white loaf of bread and it was really great toasted, perfect for the tomato sandwich. Also, their chocolate chip cookie which was softer than what I prefer for a cookie was surprisingly good. The pumpkin cookie was soft as well but I loved the fall flavors. The largest stand also operates at the Jackson Heights greenmarket on Sundays, and is typically my go-to for summer corn, basil, summer squash, and zucchini, along with a great selection of peppers and greens. This is a smaller farmer's market than some in the city, but I like that it's open on a weekday and is filled with the diversity of the neighborhood.
