BUYER BEWARE!!! I would give it ZERO stars if I could. This HMART falsely advertises items as being on SALE but when the item is scanned it will ring up the FULL price!!! When you point it out they remove the sign and deny they did anything wrong. They do this ALL THE TIME without blinking an eye. This has happens on a regular basis. The manager of this store condones and encourages this practice. It's really sad that a large company like this feels a need to take these measures to make a buck. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE....they will RIP YOU OFF!!!! read more

DISGUSTED - I ordered a dish from their offset dining area and asked for no meat, egg, fish or any other seafood in my food. I ended up with CLAM in my food. I do not eat things from sentient beings and the fact that I thoroughly asked her about this beforehand, I feel like vomiting all over her. Had a person with a legitimate allergy eaten it, they very well could have died. Her reaction when I said this was laughter - what kind of sick person is she? Whether you call it Han Ah Reum or H-mart, one this is certain: this supermarket is fantastic. Why do I praise this place? * best produce: salad greens, cucumbers, dandelions and all greens are fresh and they're nicely priced... good enough that I'll pay the Whitestone Bridge roundtrip toll (don't worry I'll squeeze in a trip to Bon Chon). * fish station: anyone, even someone who does not speak Korean, can pick a fish and have it cleaned and cut to their liking. Yes, there is a picture chart. * free samples: naeng myun, mandoo, oh boy. I love when they say sale; I eat, smile and walk away. Yes I can be an @$$. * the restroom: I didn't learn about this until recently. I spend so much time here I have to go. * the restaurant inside (Namoodol)! For $7 there are special meals! Last time I got daegi gogi and naeng myun. A hidden gem! * the fruit in the back. If not the giant pears, then the clementines or the giant grapefruit. * the popped rice and fish with red bean (It's a little late so I can't remember the damn name). * checkout lines: they move quickly. Possible cons: * if you don't speak Korean, asking for help will be useless. You may not find what you are looking for. I like to go here with my family as a mini day trip, if just to browse around and not actually partake in assessing our options of what to buy. Mackerel? Fresh tomatoes? Hey, how about those mushrooms? Can I have the Hello Kitty underwear? Why don't we just have lunch at the mini-restaurant inside H Mart and then do some legit shopping? Lots and lots of things to see. The organization in this place is impeccable. The service is pretty nice, if a bit lacking sometimes (and funnily insulting-- one saleswoman gave my mom a sample of food to try that apparently reduces gray hair. We all know how shit goes down with middle-aged women). Their standouts are definitely the fruits, vegetables, red meat, and fish. They're cheap overall, and their cuts of meat and fishes are fresh and prepared daily. They also sell out quickly. It's fun to ogle at the latter and pretend to be one. The mart also has an awesome package of street food, one of which is soon-dae (yum, pig's blood sausage!), my personal favorite. Just avoid any American company inventory. They're more expensive, but that's kind of obvious. What I love about this place is that it is ALWAYS clean, you would never walk in and find it unruly disorganized and dirrrrty. This HMart has a nicer, more approachable staff than other HMarts I have been to. It's in a more residential area, more quiet and peaceful to shop at than the Northern Blvd locations. It's a bit smaller but they have A LOT of stuff. Area is narrow so navigating your shopping cart can be tricky. I usually go for the meats and they didn't disappoint. The meats are a bit expensive but they have very fresh and red meat. Good selection at this market but like all supermarkets, you have to know your prices. I love coming here to get Korean items. I wish they had an easier process of signing up for the smart card, their loyalty rewards program, as the cashier wasn't too familiar with it. They also have a small restaurant attached to the market that sells Korean dishes. The cashiers here are for the most part younger and more professional than the rude halmoni cashiers located at the other H-mart on Northern Blvd. Except this one weird male cashier repeatedly sniffing at the coffee (Sarabeth's hazelnut ground coffee) that I had brought to the counter to purchase, literally rubbing his nose in it. I'm not kidding. He even had the audacity to mutter something disparagingly in Korean when I looked at him coldly like the weirdo he was. Note to cashier. A coworker suggested I try this place. It's a supermarket with a small eatery in the back that happens to be awesome. I've only gotten take out, and I will only go with someone who speaks Korean. My 2 favorite dishes are the spicy pork (don't know how to say it in Korean) and bulgogi. They don't skimp on the portions, and most of the combos are under $10. Highly recommend! read more

Worst service ever. The horrible guy at the counter saw I didn't have any way of carrying my groceries and leaves it there as I ask for a bag. He said it's 5 cents. I said yes I know you should have asked me if I needed one first as I had already paid. He then proceeds to force me to charge 5 cents on the card again while a crowd of people wait. This is one of the best H-marts in Queens. They normally do free samples throughout the day (which is genius cause I always get suckered into buying the product). The ladies working here are all adorable and the staff in general are nice, I've never had an issue with them. Things can get a bit pricey depending on what you buy but the sales offset that. H-Mart is a good place to find a wide variety of Korean food and fresh produce, but it's expensive. If you need to feed your family with affordable food, try the dozens of other supermarkets nearby. The small eat-in kitchen inside is a great place to eat well-cooked home-style Korean favorites. There's also a place near the back registers where you can get street-vendor style snacks (the smell is intoxicating and reminds me of my childhood in Seoul). This hidden gem is one of the locations of their many Korean Supermarkets. Best place to get fresh produce, seafood and meat. But usually, I come by for the little restaurant they have inside. They serve something like 15 different dishes. They have pictures up so you can get a visual idea of what you're getting, so it's good for first timers. The food is cheap (under $10), simple and delicious. My entire family loves going there, and we all have our favorites. I'd recommend the galbi (Korean BBQ short ribs) and beef dosilock for the meat lovers. If you're more adventurous, try the sashimi over rice. They mix it with dried seaweed and hot sauce. It's healthy and delicious. Most of their dishes are served with kimchi, soup and rice. You can't beat the price for the quality of the dishes ... I've never been disappointed. read more

As far has H-Marts go this was my favorite for a long time. My old apartment used to be right near there. They follow the same set up as any other H-Mart around the country. The one stand out for me is their food court. Usually they have these dinky little kiosks that serve crappy Chinese take out style fare. This food court boasted 1 restaurant that was attached like an after thought. The food was authentic Korean with tofu soups, marinated beef, pork belly, and noodle soups. The food was delicious and satisfying. The price was also by far the lowest I've seen in a long time. The wait can sometimes be long, but it is so worth it! 33/365 read more

Better than J Mart, not quite as amazing as Mitsuwa, but there's certainly a lot here for everyone. And it's huge! Sometimes I feel like we're the only white people who travel to Flushing and fill up an entire grocery cart shopping, but wow, we can get some tasty stuff at H Mart. Their seafood selection is astounding, they have good produce, and we can get both Asian and conventional American staples that we need. Now that I've moved out of the area, I'mm hopeful that the H Mart an hour away can deliver even half as well as this one. Fingers crossed. read more

I don't understand why people over pay for their produce, meat, poultry, fruits and canned goods. They are so much cheaper here at H-Mart and Assi Supermarket. There's even a small place to eat -- the pork galbi is delicious. Go for the lunch boxes - good sized meal and inexpensive. Love shopping here! Located within walking distance to my home, I shop here frequently. Come by on weekends when they have free samples set up throught the store so you can try new things. The small take out restaurant on the side is nice and cheap if you want to pick up something quick. Or check out their huge selection of already made goodies. I've always loved Korean food and recently discovered the value of cooking Korean food (ty Maangchi). H-Mart in Flushing is the closest Korean grocery to me and this place is hands down amazing. I have to be honest in saying I was a bit intimidated being one of the few not Korean persons in the store but I felt welcome from being offered wonderful appetizers. One of which was a delicious veggie udon noodle soup! Yum!! The prices are great for kelp, fresh vegetables, prepared foods, and tofu ($0.99). They had some of the most beautiful scallions (3/$0.99) I've ever seen. I hope to return and take a gander at the seafood counter (pollock!) and some persimmon vinegar. When I asked if I could talk to the manager, a person told me that you cannot talked to the manager! Really??? I will never come back to h Mart. Within Han Ah Reum supermarket, there is a korean food court - Namoodol Restaurant that sells authentic Korean dishes. Each meal will serve kim chi, soup and the main dish. You have free flow of iced/hot water. What more can you ask. Tried the bimbibap, and beef dosilock (marinated beef) and the restaurant did not fail me. Don't worry about the language problem. I live a 15 minute walk or 3 minute car ride from here and honestly I can say- this supermarket is my goto. They legit have everything ranging from groceries- little restaurant inside with delicious food- little clothes store- jewelry store etc. They even have a little convenience store when you walk down the stairs with everything ranging from pots and pans to household items. I usually spend a lot of money here cause I buy everything in bulks but it's so worth it. The restaurant inside this Hmart is small but delicious at a very inexpensive price. They had a great selection of everything you could think of from Korean peppers to raw yellow dates (and I can never find these anywhere)! A great example of a clean and well kept grocery store. You are met with a collection of shiny polished fruits as you enter, and along the back walls are the clean packaged meats that always look red bright and fresh. Often times there are demonstration tables flocked throughout the store to offer sampling's of their inventory. There is a fresh fish market I the back and a Kimbap section to the corner along with Asian gadgets and electronics area. The grocery store is nicely divided and caters to the community by offering different items. The fruit section would be my favorite, you can always count on fresh fruits here! read more

Since I was in the area again visiting family I decided to stop in for a quick cheap meal.. On the way to the restaruant area HMart had a lot of free samples!! I tried everything in my path! At the restaurant I ordered BiBimBap to go this time. It was only $7 and came with all the fixings - Vegetables, Rice, Egg, and the hot sauce. On the side they gave kimchi and some vegetable soup. I love this place so much better than the place on Northern. This place even has a dining section with freshly prepared cheap Korean food. And they are not racist like the other Northern Blvd one. This supermarket is right in my uncle's back yard, so we tend to come here to stock up on groceries whenever we visit. I like it because they normally have enough samples for me to eat for dinner - I'm always ridiculously full when I leave. Plus they sell really yummy prepared Korean food so I don't have to cook that night. Everything is always super fresh and great quality, which is why my parents tend to come back so often. My brother loves their pre-marinated bbq meats - he's addicted to it so every time we come, we tend to buy at least two boxes. (He can eat one by himself. It's quite scary to watch.) It's not as big as it seems to be on the outside, but I come here to get mostly Korean specialty products (like the BBQ and the black beans) and any meats/veg/fish I forgot to buy that month at SkyFoods. It's a great supermarket for buying any last minute needs - but it's not as large as the supermarkets in Central Flushing. I want to share a story with the public about how HMart the famous Korean Supermarket conducts their business with the public. I've always loved HMart but after a terrible experience tonight I will not shop there anymore and so should everyone you care about. Especially not the Meats or Seafood section and here is why. I saw on the ad as you can see from the pictures, that frozen oxtail is $2.99/LB sold as a box and must buy as a whole box. Now for those who ever shopped for an oxtail will know that is a good price for a frozen oxtail. My wife had bought 2 boxes of this but little did she know there is a dark secret of how they do business. As you can see on the pictures each box has a stamp indicating how much each box "weighs". Box 1 weighs 15.78 lbs @ 2.99/lb comes to $47.18, Box 2 is 15.69 lbs @ 2.99 is $46.91. Now I weighed each bag of oxtail separately and surprise surprise they are not 15 lbs each box. box 1 is 7 lbs and 15.5 oz box 2 is 8 lbs 11.4 oz give or take few ozs, but that is not the point. What is amazing they are missing nearly 50% of the content that was stickered onto the box. Now I don't know about you guys but I am in shock and awe. I went back to HMart on union st in flushing to find answers. Now I didn't think they had any more of these boxes on the frozen section for me to see if these 2 boxes were the only boxes missing near 50% of the content. They still had 3 boxes remaining, and each box did not feel it was 15 lbs and clearly they were missing half the content cause it was sliding a lot. I asked the Meat Dept Manager "can you weigh this for me, i just want to make sure this is 15 LBs like it says on the sticker" The manager explained that this box WAS 15lbs when they first got it, but they do a service of "CLEANING" the oxtail of the "fat" content. So apparently their "cleaning" service netted near 50% of "fat". Now I at a lot of ox tail to know it will never be 50% fat content on a oxtail. Even if it was you'd have to clean literally the whole tail, which you cannot clean it all. All they did was cut the surface fat which cannot total even near 50%. I went to speak to the store manager, but he was not there off course. I told the costumer service rep they are clearly false advertising clearly violating my consumer rights. Not every customer will return products and clearly I was probably the first. Then the constomer service rep had the nerver to say everyone knows they are not buying 15 lbs of oxtail. Now I wanted to talk to the store manager more because they are in clear violation of consumer rights on this matter. But they insisted he/she was not available. Now I returned my oxtail, they didn't even bother weighing it which they cannot even do because they don't even know what's the weight it was sold at. The thing that scares me the most is imagine if they were doing this in all seafood and meat departments. How much are they skimming away and selling at the suppose net weigh. They are making a killing at scamming all consumers. I want to get the word out for all consumers to watch what they buy at Hmart and bring a Scale if you can if you do ever consider buying Meat or Seafood from them.
