The produce is a hit or miss. This is one of the few h-marts that have good deals on their snacks but you have to check the date! Now what's makes this hmart better than the rest is the food court. There is a dumpling store all the way at the end and it is by far THE BEST DUMPLING soup EVER! It's affordable $9-$11 for a bowl of dumpling soup and each dumpling is handmade in that store! You get 4 dumplings per soup. You can order the dumplings for parties or frozen so you can use it later at home. Such good quality and it's been consistent for as long as they have been there! I would recommend this diamond in the rough but the store does run out of freshly made dumplings early on in the day! So come before they run out of stock. The seafood place and the korean food place aren't so bad but if you want the best dumplings stop by! read more

This Hmart branch is smaller than the other locations and carries less variety than the others as well. Still, it serves its purpose as a grocery store with Korean items and a small variety of international goods. The food court is to the left of the store while the back is reserved for meat, seafood, and alcoholic drinks. The middle aisles are the freezers and ingredients that are jarred or dried. The food court has 5 open restaurants: Japanese, Chinese, a bibimbap-type restaurant, Korean, and a friend chicken/dumpling restaurant. The Korean restaurant is closed on Mondays and they close at 8pm on the days that they're open so plan accordingly if you want to eat there. There's plenty of seating in the food court so large groups are welcome but it will take a while for you to get your food if it's busy or if there are a lot of orders; typically, there are 1 or 2 people cooking in the kitchens. There is also a Tous Les Jours cafe at the other end of the store. Sundays are the best days because that's when they bust out samples and they also sell fresh kimchi/side dishes. TLDR: Hmart is a good start if you're new to Asian grocery stores but if you can't find something at this branch, head on over to Assi. read more

I was very disappointed when I came here. I stopped in here on my way home from church. Back in NY, H-Mart is known for their fresh fish (sushi grade) as well as fresh fruit and all at a great price. However, I was completely fooled. For starters, I was looking for sushi grade rice. The rice bags were overpriced (according to my price comparisons with Great Wall and Assi). A bag of short grain rice should cost around $22-25 for a 15lb bag. Here, the most inexpensive one was $29. For the sushi grade tuna, other places its $14 / lb. Here it was $19.99 / lb. The sushi wine used to season the rice was $2.59 for a 3 oz. bottle! On top of that, all the fruit that they had were either bruised, or moldy. The strawberries were on sale for $1.99 per quart, however every box had at least a few with the white mold fuzz on it. (eww) The mangos were mush to the touch, as were the apples and bananas. There were a lot of flies flying around in the store and it had a horrible smell of either stale water or was just plain old dirty. I'm sure there are other great H-Marts out there, however this one was definitely one that I'd never go back to. (Risk of getting sick from some kind of airborne virus). read more

When this store was new, I would have given it 5 stars at the time. As time passes this store has changed. 1. The customer service has gone from 5 Stars to 1 Star. Today, we asked 2 employees if they could help us find an item we couldn't find. Having been a few years since we shopped here, the best we could do was explain what the item was and where we had previously found it. The second lady had the nerve to go off complaining in her native language to another lady while pointing at my husband. You could tell she was obviously upset about having been asked for assistance. This couldn't have been more rude and if I wasn't concerned about causing a scene I would have given her a piece of my mind. 2. I felt my business was not appreciated. All they cared about was you sampling and buying the product you sampled. 3. The only reason why I give this store 2 stars was the fact they still offered the Korean rice noodles we like so much along with the marinated pork butt. I told my husband I certainly won't be shopping here again. It's not worth the 25 min drive one-way to get the pork butt. Ok, so I am as white bread as they come (can't jump, can't dance, burn in direct sunlight exposure of more than 2 minutes etc..), so my opninion on an Asian Market may not be the greatest. But let me tell you, this place gets the full 5 stars from me. I really only go here for the produce section. It is the biggest, best produce section you will find in Georgia. Everything is so clean and fresh and they have every kind of fruit or vegetable that I have ever heard of, along with many that I have never heard of. They are also consderably cheaper than the major grocery chains. My wife was all excited a couple weeks ago about how Publix had a sale on strawberries. It was 3 flats for $5. My response? "Super H Mart has them for $1.50 per flat every time I go in there and you do not have to buy 3 flats to get that price". Another cool thing is they have restaurants and tables inside where you can dine. They used to have like 5-6 different choices, almost like a mall food court, but I think the economy took it's toll on a few of them so now there are like 2-3 different ones. I love this place and highly recommend you giving it a try. I am sure they have all kinds of Asian foods and ingredients as well so that can be attractive if you like Asian style foods. I do agree with Paul R. that they should have more registers open. My mother had brought me here, saying I'd love the place. Granted, I'd no idea where she was bringing me. Mother knows best. It's a principally Korean supermarket brim-full of all the Asian food staples you can imagine. I happened to be there during their Japanese Food Festival, so it was even more of a joy for me. They even have a sushi mart inside, but it's a separate outlet - you must pay for the merchandise there before proceeding to the rest of the market. BACKSTORY: I went to H Mart to stock up on some Asian sauces and what not since I just moved to Atlanta. The last time I was at an H Mart was near Chicago, and the only thing I remember was being in awe of the many types of ramen that were available for purchase. Now that I'm older and have more advanced cooking skills (although no hate to instant ramen since I do love to eat it from time to time), I wanted to buy a few things to make hu tieu, a Vietnamese noodle soup. I recently got my nails done, and the Vietnamese nail tech told me I could find everything to make hu tieu at H Mart. So I decided to stop by there before heading back to Midtown. MERCHANDISE: H Mart definitely caters to Korean cuisine, which was difficult for me since I mainly eat/cook Chinese and Vietnamese food. The dried onions and dried scallops that I have no problem finding at a Chinese market were not available for purchase at H Mart. Also, I prefer the Red Boat brand of fish sauce, which is usually easy to find at Vietnamese grocery stores, but it was unavailable here. They only had one type of rock sugar and did not have the specific seafood soy sauce that I have used in the past. SERVICE: I tried to ask 4 different people about dried scallops and most of them did not know how to speak English. Look, my grandma lived in California for almost 30 years without knowing English, so I'm cool with that. However, my grandmother also did not work at a grocery store. Good luck trying to ask a question if you don't know Korean. To give some credit to the people working there, they were nice and tried their best. Also, the area to grab a shopping cart near the entrance was empty and it seemed like most people knew to grab a shopping cart from the parking lot. I wasn't feeling that. BOTTOM LINE: H Mart is clean and has some good produce that caters to the Asian crowd. However, I am still looking for an Asian grocery store that meets all my needs. read more

I think H-Mart's marketing strategy has shifted a bit amidst rising competition. I see H-Mart commercials broadcasted on tv. It seems like they want to diversify their clientele. I think that's a great idea. I like how H-Mart also has a rewards card program, which allows you to redeem points for H-mart bucks ( I think that's how it works). Recently, I found coupon booklets from H-Mart as well. If you are curious as to what the H stands for, as I were, it stands for "han ah reum", which means "an arm full of groceries" in Korean. I have been to 3 of their 5 locations. Each one has a slightly different food court. The Hmart in Suwanee has a dumpling vendor and the Torreore vendor. Torreore is available in GA, MD, NJ, and VA. My friend told me it's "double fried" chicken. To me, it tastes not super crunch, but puffy crunchy. The marinade fried chicken is my least favorite bc it tastes kind of bland. Their ketchup has an cinnamon sweetness to it. This H Mart pretty much has the same lay out as the other two. Produce on the right, with food court lined on corner (also where restrooms are), and packaged goods on the left. H-Mart is a pretty good place to shop as they sell different meats that's cheaper than the regular stores and is cut fresh daily. As far as the seafood, it's like going to sea world seeing things that you've normally actually seen in person. The only downfall I have with them is that I think they should open more registers than they have open. Customer service at this place is unbelievable . Don't come to HMart / Suwanee until 11am because you can't buy anything until 11am. Even though they open at 8am. I went to the food court this morning to grab lunch and buy some kimbap and they turned me away along with a few other customers for COMING TOO EARLY to buy food?!? It was 10:25am. I saw the kimbap wrapped and priced, everyone was standing around telling me that I couldn't buy or eat until 11am???? I have been coming here almost every weekend to grab some lunch and buy kimbap and this is the first time I was turned away. I live like 5 minutes from here. It is clean and organized. I love it how they have lots of Korean side dishes and marinated meat. They also have sashimi for fish lovers like me. Prices are cheaper than Kroger and Publix, but not as cheap as the other Asian grocery stores off Pleasant Hill road in Duluth. They had just about everything you need and more. I also love all of the samples they give on the weekend. If you get an H mart card, you get super savings and coupons. However, this is my favorite H mart food court. You should def eat at fish153 in the food court if you haven't. Amazing sushi! They also have great Korean and Chinese food next to fish153. Thank for letting this place exist!! I come here maybe once a month. They have a huge selection of a lot of products that I would probably use (soy sauce, noodles, soup mixes, etc.). As a person who's grown up in a large city, I love finding things here that are out of my comfort zone, but they wind up being very good! You don't know until you try, right? I like purchasing all of these cool exotic things (I'm not Asian and I don't get to enjoy stuff like this very often, so it's a great place for me). They have a lot of free samples (and the servers are very nice). Stuff that I usually get here includes: buckwheat tea, teriyaki sauce, Korean pancakes, shrimp crackers, coconut oil, dumplings, and fruit. Everything is very good and I've never had a problem with this location. This store is not only limited to Asian food. They also have products (based on the language that they're written in) from Latin America, Russia, France, Germany, and stuff here in the States (for those who are stuck with you and don't prefer anything else). It's always for me to come here. I get to buy new products (that I've probably haven't had in a while or have never had in my life )whenever I come here, and I appreciate Asian food/culture just a little bit more :). I was very upset today about buying rotten fish carp today that was displayed as fresh,cleaned and cut by fishmongers,assured that was fresh and clean and for me to enjoy! Came here because we live less than 5 miles away, dbf got kimchi and a bag full of other goodies, I grabbed lychee, eggs and a few Korean snacks. Prices were not bad, the store was packed as it was Sunday evening. A really nice aspect was every department had fresh samples just like at Costo and Sam's Club so you can sample produce, prepared freezer meals etc. Next time I'd like to try the bakery and the food court. read more

We shop at this hmart regularly and decided to try a meal in the foodcourt area. Although there are several restaurant shop fronts it was hard to tell who was operating the kitchens. Whoever it was, the spicy seafood noodle soup was fresh and delicious. Chock full of mussel, shrimp, octopus and other seafood. Came with a nice side of salad condiments. I love Hmart and have been shopping at this store for years. The store is clean the produce is fresh ( most of the time) seafood and meat departments are really good and not overpriced. They have some products from Europe as well which I love. They have several small restaurants inside I have not tried any yet. I try to go during the week it is packed on the weekend. Love the variety of foods they carry, noodles and Asian sauces are a must for me. One thing a do not like most employees are very rude some very racist and not helpful at all but thru out years shopping there I know where all the stuff is that I buy is so it is not a problem anymore. After several visits, I guess it's time for a review. We love this Hmart because it's clean and has fresh produce, seafood and meat without paying an arm and a leg. On my most recent trip, I went to the bakery (Tous Les Jours) and picked up whipped cream bread, milk bread and some donuts. So good and really fresh. I've been to many a major Asian grocery store, and plenty of Korean supermarkets in Los Angeles, Northern California, the Pacific NW, Denver, Chicago, and the DC Metro region. My family feels like we know our Korean markets. I'd say in terms of size, this is one of the biggest we've seen. The selection is good, although it doesn't have quite the level of variety and unique fair that I would expect from a top notch Korean market. I think that might be because they're catering to a somewhat less savvy crowd here who just want their staples. The prices are reasonable, and they have some great deals certain times of the year that can save you a fortune. Sometimes you can get a massive box of Napa cabbage, used for kimchi, for a few bucks. That's pretty outrageous, and just one example of several you can keep an eye out for. There is plenty of parking, which often isn't the case in urban Korean supermarkets. But this is GA. One annoyance for me, although I think it's a good service to the many visitors unfamiliar with Asian or Korean foods, are the tasting tables. It's not the food, but rather the microphone & speakers that they are giving these ladies to advertise certain foods. Come on, this isn't an outdoor market with competition, this is a single franchise. I felt like I was running the gauntlet with four ladies screaming in my ear to try and buy their fish cake, their fried doughnuts, and whatever else it was. One of them didn't know how to operate the mic and it kept squelching some ridiculous feedback, much to everyone's dismay. One of my favorite Korean restaurant spots. Tucked away in the food court is a little Korean stand that, in my opinion, serves one of the best Korean tofu soups in Atlanta. For under $9, you get a ridiculously amazing soup with rice and sides (no tips required). At any other K-restaurant you'd pay $15 + tip (or more) for a similar meal. The store (Hmart) is clean, has excellent produce and meats - including premarinated bulgogi. Regular household items are a tad overpriced. A great place to buy your seafood, meats and produce. The prices are fantastic and cannot be beat. The quality of their seafood is superb. This and all Hmarts have a good court inside. You need to stop by and try a soup or some Korean bbq. It can be a little intimidating, but most have pics to choose from. Recently I bought 2 boxes of white peaches for my family and a friend at the Hmart in Suwanee, GA. We tried the peaches the next day but the insides of all the peaches were spoiled and inedible, and we had to throw the entire box away. We called customer service and talked to the produce department manager. The manager was extremely rude and dismissive, arguing that that could not be the case and they hadn't received any other complaints. I offered to send pictures of the peaches and receipt with timestamps as evidence, and explained that we lived 1.5 hours away and couldn't make a trip easily, especially in a pandemic, but he refused. He accused us of purchasing the peaches from another store and insisted on us keeping the boxes in the fridge and bringing them to the store. He even hung up the phone while I explaining it'd be difficult to store 2 cases, especially in this hot summer. I asked for the store manager, who listened and told me he'd give us a refund if we just brought the receipt. About a week later, I went to the store. The store manager was off that day but the PD manager was there. He overheard me while I was talking to a cashier and approached us. Again, he was extremely dismissive and hostile. He didn't even address me directly, just told the cashier to refund only 1 box for less than what I payed for. He said I had bought the peaches when they were on sale 2 weeks ago, even though the receipt clearly showed I bought them for more only 1 week ago. Eventually, the cashier refunded me for both boxes because it was evident I was telling the truth. I would've liked to get an exchange but got a refund instead because I didn't want to give them my business. The attitude of the manager was unprofessional, and disrespectful, and he simply lacked human decency. The experience was horrible and I wish the store manager would've talked to his colleague to improve customer service and product management. read more

This location is much easier to get in and out of than the one off Pleasant Hill. The produce selection is huge! Anything you are looking for you will find here, and very cheap! This is my go to place for mint and limes, mojitos anyone? I can't say the same for the rest of the items, american items are priced a little higher than a regular grocery store. There is always tasty samples of dumplings and noodles. I'm always tempted to buy ramune soda, but stick with regular flavors because some of them are pretty gross. I had to get some ingredients for a special dinner and Super H mart was the only place where I know I could strike luck. The place was pretty empty and I was able to figure out where my random items were. I did have the hardest time figuring out what sake to get. It would be nice to have a better English guide in the isle to help those who don't know jack about sake. My experience was pretty good, unfortunately the super slow checkout line threw me off. There were only two checkout lines and no express lane so I had to tweedle my thumbs for a little while. When we moved here from Fort Lauderdale, Fla this was one of the places that we checked out. So much variety of meats, seafood, vegetables, rice, etc and the prices were even better than a supermarket on the meats. Some items are pricey which I get elsewhere but for the most part all my veggies & meat I get here. I travel 40 minutes just to go to Hmart to do my shopping every 3 weeks. The people are friendly & helpful. Regular supermarkets don't carry items from the Caribean that I'm used too & here we get it all. In one location. They also have concession stands for perfume, makeup, cell phones, baked goods in the front of the store. Plus Inside they have a store inside that sells other items like detergent, dishes, pots & pans etc. Everything you can get in this one place. I love it here. It's clean & airy. They also have some restaurants that you can stop and get a bite to eat before you shop. Wish they had an Hmart in Athens it would be so much closer. read more

The grocery selection here is usually almost expired or expired goods. If you touch any of the fruits, you can feel a thick layer of oily, waxy pesticides.
