Scanned all the items and was paying when some employee asked me if I had gotten the 20 pack of sodas on the bottom of the cart. I said yes. I paid and then she grabs the receipt to check. My favorite HEB overall. From the oven dinners and salad bags to Swiss alps shirts for 20 bucks this place has it all. Every staff member I've contacted has been extremely friendly and eager to help also. The little coffee shop in this one is also a cool touch and the people that work it know my drink order. Best Grocery Chain in Texas! Let me preface this review by saying, this is my first and likely only review of a grocery store. It is only due to the exemplary customer service that I've received on multiple occasions that I felt compelled to write a positive review for HEB. Aesthetically, this is one of the nicest grocery chains I've been in. Not only is the store huge, it's beautiful, well maintained and they truly go above and beyond to provide a variety of fresh produce, a unique bakery selection, a sushi counter (that I happen to really enjoy, and I'm from California, sushi snob capital) and a great wine and beer selection, if you're in to that thing.. which of course I am! Day or night this store is always incredibly busy, I mean bumper carts, it's hard to get through the aisle to get your food kinda busy, but the shoppers are pretty respectful and HEB somehow manages the chaos that is Sunday morning groceries. Outside of aesthetics and the busy atmosphere, let me tell you about the incredible customer service I've received . I'm an "organic" foodie (call me an over-spender) but I like the idea of organic food and was consistently disappointed that they never had any organic potatoes or organic fresh corn. So, recently I wrote a brief email to this store just to see if they could do anything! Well the response I received was pretty incredible. The operations manager contacted me, thanked me for my feedback, told me that they are now currently sourcing to see if organic corn/potatoes was possible and that there supply group would be contacting me. WELL WHAT DO KNOW, on Sunday this week the variety of fingerling potatoes (the purple, red, yellow ones) were available (ORGANIC)! Now that's service. This same shopping trip I decided to get a cupcake and asked curiously about a chocolate in the case, the bakery counter gentleman was EXTREMELY nice, even offered a sample to me! I am just consistently impressed by the group at this HEB, but the service provided from the management team and from the incredible follow up to a very simple email. This is one big ole grocery store. Melissa D's rumor about this being the largest grocery store in Texas makes sense, though I don't know for sure if that's actually the case or not. So, find this store up on a perch on 281 north of loop 1604 in a massive parking lot and strip center with several great restaurants and stores in their own right. Grab a parking spot and a giant cart and head inside. Everything here is super-sized. Everything. Aisles, selection, carts, even the employee checking out my groceries on my last trip was exceptionally tall. (That last one probably is a coincidence, but just thought I'd throw it in!) You can buy groceries, furniture, clothes, pet supplies, lawn and garden anything, practically everything else you'll need. A real "one-stop-shop" kind of spot. Now, here's the thing. It's just too big for me. I feel lost in there. It takes forever to shop because it's so huge to navigate. I really loved the first HEB plus! I visited (1604/Blanco location) but this one dwarfs that one, and they're just getting too big for my needs! read more

True story... when my sister sold her place in San Antonio to move back to Wisconsin full time I actually cried thinking it was my last time going to HEB. Thankfully she sold her place in Wisconsin and back to San Antonio she moved! I'm back in town visiting her again and this is my first stop. I love this store! They have so many coupon offers waiting to had - just look for the yellow slips of paper taped to fridges or isles - you can get an absolute bargain here is you're willing to look. They have great samples too - you can't help but to not miss the sample booth just to the left of the wines, where the staffer is consistently enthusiastic about what ever sample they have on offer - really fun times and right on the path of the store - not at the entrance where it may be annoying but perfectly situated. As one would expect from a HEB Plus! The selection is excellent - a little more pricy than the close by Walmart but the quality is far superior here it really makes it a moot point. If you're feeling wiped at the end of a good shop, they have an excellent, if not a little expensive, massage place just past the check out - the shoulder rub/massage is excellent! Only think this is missing is a nail saloon - but I guess that's more Walmart class patron than HEB. If your up for a bargain (past the yellow paper coupons) check their electronics section - they have DVD an BluRay bins at silly prices $5 for DVD and $10 for BR for reasonably recent titles) - you may need to dig for the best stuff, but it's there. read more

Massive crowds of shoppers any time of day even on weekdays. Fighting to get your vegetables. People taking their time as if they were the only customers. I have gone random times of day and it seems everyone is shopping at the same time like its a day before Thanksgiving. I only shop here on occasion because this particular HEB sells my wine, The HEB I normally shop at Wilderness Oak does not carry my brand wine. My wife and I just moved out to the Canyon Springs area and had to change from the Blanco/Huebner HEB to the Evans HEB.. Needless to say our hearts were broken because of all the great memories with our old HEB lol But all jokes aside we really have grown to love this HEB @ Evans. It's HUGE first of all, but it's really easy to memorize where everything is. They have a great selection of Organic Produce, Fresh Fish and Meat. My only complaint is that the beer selection is more limited here than @ Blanco, but my wife loves that because it shaves about 20 min of shopping according to her, i don't believe it though :D read more

This is my home HEB and I love it. Yes, it can be very crowded, but I love the layout, the selection and the samples of course! Today I added one more thing to love, curbside pick up service! I was able to put my order in this morning and choose a pick up time that was convenient for me. So off I went to pick up the kids from school and headed straight to the store, following the convenient signs directing us to the curbside parking area. Each spot directs you to text your location to let the team know of your arrival. A sweet girl named Nicole came right out (with free cookie packs by the way), confirmed my name, and in less than 5 minutes she came out with my groceries, loaded them in the car and came for my signature. All the while my 2 kids are giggling and hiding like it was a secret mission. We didn't even have to leave our seats. Super convenient service! I can see us using it again for busy weeks like this. I would recommend it to any parent with really young or multiple children, saving the trials and tribulations of toddler meltdowns and diaper duty, or as just a time saver for anyone! read more

I made a quick stop with my friend who lives in SA. I was amazed at how big this store was and the amount of sampling areas they had. This location even had an entire electronics section and a clothing shopping store!! I wish the HEB in Bunker Hill could look like this one...if SA has us beat in one thing, it's definitely the quality of their HEB stores. My favorite H-E-B ever! I enjoy coming here, I usually shop for my groceries day by day since I like making something different everyday and it's so convenient living 8 minutes away. The staff is always friendly and I actually like that they stay open til 1AM for times that I go get a late night fruit snack or need to buy lunch for work the next day. I ordered a sandwich from the deli for lunch and it was very good just a tad bit greasy. They have a sitting area you can actually take a quick break and grab lunch or take it to go. There are food samples throughout the store. I won't lie I sampled several of them before I decided I was hungry and I should probably just get a sandwich or salad. This is not the closest HEB to my home but it is by far my favorite. It is a Plus! store so they have absolutely any gadget, gizmo or goodie! I lately, specifically come to this location because they offer a great selection of organic produce compared to other locations that tend to have the basic fruits/veggies. I also enjoy their kitchenware section. It is absolutely filled with everything! I love it! I especially love that they have a clothes department! I can grab my groceries and a cute top too! I just moved to the stone oak area three weeks ago today and I've been a total of three times . My last time was this past Sunday where I had a not so great experience, now before I get into that I will say I really enjoy the store. Everyone brags on H E B and it's the only chain grocery store in the area so you have no choice but to shop here . My birthday was last week and I ordered a red velvet cake which was Delicious. My only complaint about the store as a whole is how everything closes too early ( the deli , the seafood area and the meat area). I'm from Miami and our chain grocery store is Publix . Publix closes at 11pm every night which H E B stays open later but at Publix the deli stayed open until the store was closed. Even if the meats and things were put away, they will go get what you need. Same for the seafood area which they usually started cleaning up alittle before the deli. I went to H E B ( my second trip ) and I went to the deli to get some lunch meat and I was waiting because he was serving someone and when it was my turn he said I'm sorry but we are closed and I have to clean up . It was approximately 9:03 I believe , either 9 or 8:03 and the guy whom was either Asian or Philippino said but you can go over there where he pointed to the presliced meats bagged up in the cool area. I was like really , all I wanted was a pound of turkey sliced and he said sorry!!! But that's not really what upset me , what upset me to actually type this review was my most recent trip which was this past Sunday 3/31 around 5pm. Now, as I mentioned in the beginning of my review we just moved here three weeks ago as of today so our budget has been tight and my husband actually started his job ( which was the purpose of our relocation) this week. My husband takes care of everything and since we've been on a budget this past month until things get flowing again , I picked up some cosmetics from the cosmetics side and a few hangers and paid for it separate from our groceries so my husband didn't have to pay for it , even though my husband didn't mind purchasing my items . So after our cashier Bianca D. Scanned my items I quickly threw my receipt and card in my purse to help my husband get our items onto the area so they can be scanned. As we got to the last few items, our water bottles which were one of the heaviest items and were on the bottom of the basket (underneath)because we had about $250 dollars worth of groceries on top. Anywho I asked her can you scan the water without me having to lift them from the bottom and she proceeds to say ummm check your first receipt I believe I charged you for it already, it should be the first thing on that receipt. With confusion I looked in my purse and what do you know I was charged 3.99 for the water on my receipt and it was the first item ( sneaky sneaky sneaky ) . I said why would you do that ? She says I can refund you if like... I'm like , no it's fine, next time ask and don't do that again . " she's like hehe okay ". It wasn't even about the money , it was 3.99 it was the overall reasoning behind it . I believe she thought we were going to steal the water because we are BLACK. This area is known to not have many African Americans and I believe she was Hispanic or of some minority and me and my husband are a young couple but trust me for one I would never steal , it's not worth going to jail for 3.99 water . The correct way she could have played that situation out with 1. Letting the customer know and 2. Making sure we weren't going to steal it ( if that's how she felt ) was say Ma'am let me come around and scan that water for you so you don't have to lift it. Hell anything but instead she chose to secretly charge me on my receipt without saying anything . That situation got me so upset due to what I knew she thought of my family . I was upset until I got home and then I told myself you know what , she's ignorant I'm not going to let her bother my spirit . Unpleasant Racist Experience... Upon relocating out here due to the military I discovered HEB. I absolutely love this store. I bring all my friends and family that visit here so they can experience how wonderful this store is and how friendly their employees are. It is also conveniently located near my home. My friend's cousin recently relocated out here from Puerto Rico and is currently living in my home. They are like family. I told him how wonderful and great San Antonio has been to me and how wonderfully friendly people have been. I then decided to take him to HEB as we were planning to BBQ some meat. Now for those of you who do not know, Puerto Rico is an unincorporated U.S. Territory. Because of this we do not require passports and can come to the U.S. hassle free. I am of Puerto Rican decent born in the states. So we get to HEB and grab some Apple ciders with our groceries. The events unfolded this past Sunday at cashier #8 and I just posted because I wanted to let my anger pass. When we get to the cashier he asks for an ID for the cider. My friend's cousin gives him his Puerto Rican ID. The man proceeded to hand the ID back to him and says next time give me something in English. I thought he was joking but he was not. He was waiting for another ID. So I gave him my military ID which was the first ID that came out. After starring at my picture then finally began looking for the date of birth and gave it back. While at the check out I asked my friend what did you show him and he then showed me his ID. It was his drivers license which clearly had "DOB" with his date next to it. I said loudly, "I am unsure why he wouldn't accept this if Puerto Rico is a U.S. Territory and it clearly states DOB on it". He just ignored us. I then proceeded to costumer service where I showed them my friends license and asked "do you consider this a valid ID" to which they replied yes. I then explained to them that for the first time I felt the cashier was acting in a racist manner. I explained to them what happened and let them know that I do not serve my country and I did not sign up to risk my life for love of country so that this man can discriminate my friends and family making them feel embarrassed and less than. This was highly uncalled for and the individual needs some sensitivity training or some type of reprimand. My friend was embarrassed at what happened to him. He does not speak English well but he is a hard worker and did not come here illegally. He came to work hard and to fulfill his dreams. He told me not to worry and for us to just go. I then told him that I needed to bring awareness to the store because if it is not us, it will be another person and that is not fair. I will fight for my country and that means standing up for Injustices in my country as well. For some reason more and more racism/prejudices are more and more noticeable these days. People feel more and more comfortable treating others a certain way and it needs to stop. When we see it happening we need to speak on it. What this man did is not who we are. I sure hope HEB does fix that situation and I will be following up with them. read more

Probably the biggest stir win San Antonio. It has everything to food to appliiances, Clothes, backyard you name it they might have it.

I never had any issues with this HEB until this weekend. I called in a cake order a week in advance. When my boyfriend went to pick it up, they told him he was 30 mins early and it wasn't ready. So he waited. They finally give him the cake and it's WRONG! I previously had a 20 minute conversation with KATHY over the phone about the colors I wanted and of course they gave him the WRONG colors. I spoke to the manager over the phone named Deborah and she said they would make it over. Ohh goodie! I have a party at noon and this was already 10:15am. So he waited another 20 minutes to have them "correct" it aka throw it together quickly. The cake looked horrible!! It was completely off centered on the board and the details were sloppy. I can't believe they even had the audacity to charge us $30 for this mess!! Disappointed!!!! The floral department also needs to improve their product. He came home with flowers that should have gone in the trash a week ago! Overall, horrible experience with this HEB. I will get my cakes and flowers elsewhere. read more

This is the second time that the we've been "helped" by the cashier named "Jeane G." And both times have been the worst shopping experiences I have ever had. The first time we complained with the manager and he said he was going to correct her but it looked like he just ignored us based on how unbelievably disrespectful she behaved again. The manner in which she treated my family was humiliating simply because we asked her if there was any one in the store who spoke Spanish to which she immediately replied without even thinking about with a harsh NO. She was also unable to perform properly at her job based on the fact that she was erroneously overcharging us $63.00 for 3 peaches which she entered the amount of and which we weren't even buying and whenever we told her of her "perhaps" purposeful mistake she became enraged about it and after removing the quantity without even apologizing she asked the bagger for a bag of apples which she had already scanned since the beginning of our purchase and scanned it twice on purpose, which I have no clue why. It felt outrageous to have dealt with her and it was an unbelievable negative experience. I don't even want to come back to this store. If felt discriminating, humiliating, disrespectful, unpleasant... If you plan on shopping here keep in mind that this place is well known for their awful customer service, overcharging and racism. read more

If you are in need of anything at all, this is the place to go! Let me just be the first to say that this HEB has EVERYTHING!! LITERALLY! It is not taken lightly when you hear the saying everything is bigger in Texas, and trust me that includes this grocery store! HEB has out done themselves when it comes to this grocery store! It is large, well stocked, and adequately staffed with friendly employees. Oh and did I mention they have a ginormous wall entirely dedicated to coupons. This wall can be found near the flower section of the store! First let me be very clear to tell you the produce department is gigantic, they always have deals going on, and fresh produce that is locally grown. They offer a very large arrangement of flowers, pre-made bouquets even an entire gardening section that has potted plants, seeds and anything your heart desires! Moving through the store you will see they have a well equipped toy section, sporting good's section (Volleyball, basketball, football, softball, baseball, soccer) they have a large variety of sporting goods. They even include a section for team memorabilia. Any one from San Antonio would be clear to tell you that the do have many great choices for the Spurs, UTSA Roadrunners, Texas A&M and UT, Cowboys and Texans Gear! The grocery section is well labeled and there are many HEB employees who are at hand to help you find anything that you need. They even offer samples throughout the store in the evenings and on the weekends! Closer to the the front on the right side of the store there is a cafe that has lots of great meal selections and rotisserie chicken. You can even dine in the HEB itself if you chose to! Their salad bar is very well equipped and their food is made fresh right there! This particular store includes the entire left side of the store dedicated to pharmacy, make-up and such necessities, and right behind that on the left side they have a small store called Mia's Mirror inside of HEB. It is an affordable place moderately priced and offers trinket's that sparkle and shimmer, plus fun accessories with a glamorous glimmer. The section that I feel sets this HEB apart from other HEB stores is that they have a full entertainment department! You can find this on the left side of the store across from Mia's Mirror's. This entertainment department has great deals on Movies, Games, CD's, TV, DVD Players, even Phones. The TV's that the entertainment department are the lowest prices that you will find, and the movies are great deals. Also I recommend coming to this location when a new movie is released and you wish to purchase it. Why you might ask. Well whenever a new and popular movie is released this HEB offers a coupon deal, upon purchasing the movie you receive a lot of other things along with the movie for free. Such as Pepsi, Macaroni and Cheese, Gummy Fruit Snacks, Cookies or Chips. Whatever that deal is it is worth it. You purchase the movie, and then get all of your movie snacks for free! Also sometimes if you pre-buy the movie ahead they offer you $5 off of the movie. Which means you get a movie that is a new release for $5 off, plus all of those extra snacks that are apart of the deal for free! You really can not do better then MY HEB! :) read more

H-E-B has something new called "Simple Meal". It is a takeoff on Blue Apron only better. Having done Blue Apron I can tell you that Simple Meal is less than 1/2 the work. I have enjoyed this HEB location for nearly 9 years! So professional, friendly and the staff they hire seem to keep a "We want your business" culture. I have to take time now to say how over the top a cake we ordered recently was! It was a last minute Happy 50th Birthday cake. It never occurred to me to look into HEB bakery, versus well known bakeries in town, but so glad I did. The cake was just beautiful! It looked as if we had ordered it a week in advance looking at numerous pictures from the busiest bakery in town! Bravo HEB and especially a huge thank you and a: "I still can't believe how perfect that cake was" to the young lady responsible for it, I believe her name is Alex O! I placed an order a week ago for curbside pick up at the 281 and Evans Rd Store.. then the day finally comes and I get an email 2 hours before my schedule pick up time, telling me to be ready for my order and giving me instructions on how to pick it up..... I arrive at the store at the schedule time, only to find out that neither of the items I order were available... no one replaced the items.. no one bother to call me... this is my first time ordering curbside and NEVER again will I entertain the idea... I drove all the way to your store only to be given an apology.. I have been an big HEB supporter and tell every one that moves from out of state about HEB.. and this is a big slap on the face.. Y'all had 3 opportunities ( 1)Why let me order something is not going to be available A WEEK IN ADVANCE, 2)Why email me 2 hours before as if I was going to get my order.. 3) Why no one bother calling me or emailing me so I wouldn't have to drive all the way to the store!!) to make it right and not to get my hopes up.. and y'all failed every single time. Sam's Club doesn't even let me order it.. which is better than getting my hopes up for a whole week.. only to be let down last second.... I've learned my store pretty well and love that they don't move things around too much. They always have fresh vegetables and meat. One of the newest HEB locations in this area and it is super nice! This is my neighborhood grocery store and I am so lucky because they have every thing you could every need and all at great prices. This location has an electronic section and a small clothing section as well. Great selection of produce, health and beauty products and BEER! Love this store and you should too! read more
