I always comer here because they have the shampoo I use unlike the other HEB stores that I don't know why they don't. The cashiers are also the fastest here! And the restrooms aren't disgusting. read more

I've been here a couple of times and I've been to better HEBs than this one. I don't like the layout of the place at all. When you first enter the store, I feel it is hard to go inside and do your shopping. It seems that the cash registers are put in the middle of the enterance way and I felt like I had a difficult time getting through. read more

All you people critisizing this HEB can go on to Hole Foods, Scamdalls, or Wally World. It's a grocery store fer cryin out loud. It serves my purpose usually. It's a cattle call with 9 million people running thru it daily. and their brat kids. Oh no the cashier rolled her eyes at me! Ima go write about it on the innernet. Get out. read more

I have gone to this HEB for 30 years. I've have bad experiences on occasion but today was just enough. It's Sunday morning and there was ONE checker with a line running around into the aisle. Your other option is SELF CHECKOUT period. I have mobility issues and neither of those was easy for me. I had just a few things, an Express Checkout would have been best for me. There were 2 little self righteous helper girls running up to people to funnel them over to the Self Checkout and away from the line. Just have another Darn Checker people! Self Checkout is a disabled persons nightmare, especially an introverted one at that. The machine kept flashing computer signs I didn't understand and she had to come over to help me. I was very unhappy and the girl was snappy as I was. I'm never going back. This store has become too crowded and they never have enough checkers. I'm done with it. I can get what I need at plenty of other stores, this one was just closest. read more

OMG! How do you call yourself a grocery store without a meat and seafood counter?!? Plus, this place smells like feet.

HEB - it's great! Great selection, customer service, and prices. Good parking too. Interesting displays. Friendly employees. Good produce. Good pharmacy read more

This is my HEB. Because it is close and I have been going there for nine years so I know where everything is (though the remodel threw me for a loop for a bit there). Closes at 1am, decent parking, avoid 4-7pm weekdays, and all day weekends, blah blah blah - it's HEB. You get it. A grocery store. Nothing too exciting. Not that grocery shopping is ever or should be exciting. You know, food n stuff. What ticks me off is the pharmacy. The older pharmacist there is so rude. Once, my doctor prescribed an antibiotic and a yeast infection medication (Diflucan for those who care) just in case. I go to pick up my meds and this older male pharmacist is doing the consult, explaining the meds to me. When he gets to the Diflucan, he starts smirking and acts like he can barely contain his laughter. ?! Dude, are you 12? The word vagina should stop being giggle-inducing around 16 or so (though for some men, the giggles will last into their mid-20s. But still.) But the next time I came in, I dealt with a nice young man and was re-won over by his friendly professionalism. Then the next time, my doc gave me a script but told me to call around first since most pharmacies had yet to carry it (it's new and, in the end, I couldn't find any pharmacy that carried more than a few units and had to get something else) But I am calling around. Called my friendly Allandale HEB. Was put on hold A LOT. Then, the older pharmacist gets on the phone and wants to know if I have the physical script. When I tell him I do, he says he can't discuss it with me until I have brought it by. When I ask, do y'all carry this medicine or can you get it, he starts yelling, like seriously going off that he is not going to order this medicine and lose money because I changed my mind. Changed my mind? Okay, crazy. Later found out from the Hancock HEB that the Allandale HEB rarely carries this medicine and that is why I was on hold (I guess. As opposed to just telling me they were out of it). Oh, and there is nice young lady there. So, two nice young pharmacist techs, scary/creepy old pharmacist. And it would be so convenient to get my meds where I get my food, but alas...no. read more

This HEB offers a pretty mediocre shopping experience, though I too have seen those blind people Colby mentioned. I think there's a school for the visually impaired nearby. That's certainly no excuse for the bad lighting and un-fresh fruits and vegetables. It's not a terrible place; they have the basics that you'll probably want, but perhaps due to their proximity to Central Market, they don't carry a lot of unique or gourmet items. Despite the average (or below) quality, the place has been packed every time I've gone (5:15pm weekdays). read more

Outstanding been going to the heb near my house. But stoped at this location today. First time I have ever seen space marker out side to line up to get inside to keep people away from others plus they had the carts inside cleaned and required everyone to use the sanitizer provided at door or you could not get in pulse you are asked to keep your distance from everyone inside. More store tabs companies need to this. Thanks HEE read more

In a time when super markets aisles were narrower, carts smaller, lights less bright, and mens And womens restrooms were up a narrow flight of stairs, a great Barbershop quartet form Skokie Illinois used to come down the the Burnet Road H.E.B. dressed in red and blue striped suits, flat hats, and trimmed whiskers, and sing songs about Tater Tots. Indeed so little has changed here since that time that the Barbershop Quartet could appear here today. This place seriously needs parquet floors and pinewood paneling to make it a singing bossa nova. I want my to buy all my oatmeal and Kellogg's cereals at this location and this location only, because the surgeon general says its good for me, and he ought to know: He's a Doctor. This is not the HEB for riding on the carts, nor the HEB for broken hearts. Its just a little larger than you corner store, and otherwise it is nothing more. Updating down to 1 star Store is not ADA complaint. Tried to check my blood pressure twice around 11pm. I get of work at 10:30 and get there at 11:05 on Saturday nights. What do I find? A friggen pallet blocking the aisle to the machine. Out of the below mentioned items in my previous post. They no longer carry Tyson Southern Fried Breast Fillets. Last visit they were out of the Tropicana Pure Prem. OJ Some Pulp. Chips did not ring up right again. Wrote a online complaint to customer relations. Got a response the Regional Manager would review this. Will go back this Saturday to see if thing change and keep you updated. 05/02/2009 Saturday 11:25pm *** ADA Compliance near blood pressure machine, all on the up and up except still a lot of shortages and CHECK YOUR RECEIPT EACH AND EVERY TIME. This is not optional here. I got a mission for you buy the regular wavy lays you know in the red and yellow bag the price says $2.99 and watch them ring up $3.29, no they are $2.99 and they go back there to check the price. I tried to buy Schick Quatro pro 3 pack razors the sign said $4.99 no they rung up $6.29 so I got refunded $1.62 with a managers attitude. Like hell, I going to pay $6.29 for 3 razors when I can get the refills for $6.99 which have 4 razors. read more

I like their meat selection, but I wish the people behind the deli counter would clean the slicers. They are filthy! I only buy deli meats & cheese early in the morning, otherwise I don't bother. It's so bad I've consider calling the Health Department, but I'm afraid they would shut this place down and I would have to drive to the Hancock location. The produce is okay, wish the fresh garlic was FRESH and not mushy and brown. The peppers and tomatoes are good, but the onions are subpar. Good selection on potatoes, zucchinis and squashes. The fish department always smells like rotten fish, but the meat department is solid. read more

So this is "my heb". even though the one off braker and 183 has a way better selection, i still go to this heb. That being said, this store is only getting 2 stars from me! About 2 months ago I bought some fresh/organic spinach from them, got home, got ready to rinse it off and a LIVE GRASSHOPPER flew out of the bunch at me. When I called to alert them that there was a bug in my spinach and they may want to check the others just in case (i was not even being rude!) the guy was totally uninterested in what I was telling him. Rude. Worse than that is this one cashier. All the others are fine, but there is one girl in particular who is unbearable. She always rolls her eyes at me and insists on sighing and groaning. She is quite possibly the worst person to be a cashier. While overly friendly cashiers can often give anyone the creepy feeling, I'll take a creepy guy over an annoyed teenager any day! read more

They had a remodel and things have gotten much better. The leper colony is no more!

Kathy is the sweetest person! I was having a lot of issues with my doctor and having bad reactions to the medication prescribed, and she was extremely helpful and in a great mood even though I'm sure I was being such a pain in the butt. I simply cannot describe how grateful I am for her and her staff during this stressful time. This is true southern hospitality! read more

I've been shopping at this HEB for 20+ years. It's a smaller version of their other stores, which I love. They carry a decent selection of gluten free items, organic produce and meats. The check out folks are typically fast and bag my groceries according to how I like them packed. I usually avoid shopping on Sundays, but in general, it's never super crowded and overwhelming. read more

Don't ever buy produce here!! As others say, yes the store is rarely crowded and the selection is fine. But their produce department has been bad ever since I started shopping here and its getting worse. Everything is almost bad by the time I browse the fruits and veggies. This week I found worms in my strawberries! I called to let them know and they told me to bring it back to see what the problem was. The problem is WORMS! Pull them off the shelves! I wanted to warn other customers not get my money back or free coupons but they're still selling them. So gross, I'm going back to the Hancock one it was much nicer! read more

The store is better since they remodelled, but the prices are not very good. They are reasonable on a few things, such as coconut oil and pretty normal on canned goods. Used to have a good price on their extra lean ground beef, but they decided to up it $1 extra overnight. They have a good chocolate selection. It's one of the few places I can get Chuao Caracas chocolate bars, and they are pretty special. They are close, but then so is El Rancho and Walmart. I like that I can pay my bills there, which helps with cash flow. But I do end up buying a lot of my dairy and dry goods at Natural Grocers. And if you want to make schnitzels, you have to get your meat elsewhere because they switched their milanesa cuts to round steak, but charge like it's good meat, and round steak is just not suitable for that sort of thing. Even Walmart has the more tender tip steak in the milanesa cut. So HEB does cut corners, but charge like they aren't. I think they get a lot of their steam from people who just don't bother to comparison shop. read more

When I moved to north central a couple of months ago, I didn't think I would like this HEB, it is small and has less selection. But oh how I do. It is much easier to get in and out of. I can usually find a parking space and there aren't as many families with their 8 kids running around as in other HEBs. They have a lot of great deals. Deals, I tell ya. They have generic motor oil for a buck and some change per quart. Other places in town like Walgreens and Target are charging over 4 bucks per quart. My car has a small oil leak so this means a lot to me. HEB also has the best price on almond butter in town. And on a recent afternoon, I discovered they sell dental guards for about $15.(yes, I'm a grinder) I had just spent $30 on the exact same dental guard at Walgreens, which I promptly returned to them. A $15 savings! Score! They always have great sales here. I recently got great deals here on Newman's Own dressings, strawberries, raspberries and more. They have a great fresh seafood display at the front of the meat department. Who knew trout fillets were so inexpensive and that I would love them?? The cashiers are usually nice too. My only complaints are that it's a pain to get in and out of the parking lot, and on a recent trip I bought the HEB mustard potato salad, which is usually great, and the potatoes were weird and chewy, like they hadn't cooked them enough. I also bought the HEB homestyle chicken salad, which tasted greasy, slimey and weird. Double yuck. So watch out on the store brands. They have recently bought out some neighboring store spaces and are expanding. Hopefully that won't turn this HEB into a nightmare like the Hancock one. read more

This is the mist inconsistent H-E-B in Texas. You go in one day, the staff is happy and nice, the produce is fresh, and you can get in and out quickly. Then you go in 4 days later and there's no lettuce and the avocados are all rotten, and the douchebag cashier accuses you of trying to scam him out of money because you asked for specific change for your cash back and then you hear them making fun of you for being offended while your on the way out the door. So ridiculous!! I'd advise the district manager to figure out who their quality employees are (they have some quality staff) and have those employees teach the rest of the staff how to behave. Like, don't slam dunk my $1.50 avocado down the damn grocery belt. Have some respect for the fact that I'm a customer and I'm paying for this food you're throwing down the belt. And if you're concerned about the change I'm requesting with my cash back, put your grown ass man pants on and count it for yourself before you give it to me, instead of accusing a regular customer from the neighborhood of trying to scam your pathetic ass out of money. I'm not trying to steal $10 when I'm buying my beets and goat cheese. read more

I only shop at this HEB when I absolutely have to...I generally only shop at Randall's, Central Market and Costco, but since I live a few blocks away, when I need just a few items right away, HEB at Koenig and Burnet is the place to go. It's always easy to find a parking spot, so I give them a whole star for that. HEB at Hancock has a huge parking lot, but I generally have to park so far from the doors. Inside, the place is really pretty small and very crowded. It's interesting to note that the demographics of this store do not reflect the demographics of my neighborhood at all (Brentwood). This is not a predjudice statement, just an observation. I have discoved that most of my friends and neighbors avoid this store as well. That being said, this HEB generally does have the basic staples that I look for when I go. Another star there. And last, because I love one stop shopping, another star goes to the fact that the shopping center that HEB is in, contains my favorite cleaners, Victoria's Cleaners, my bank WaMu, Twin Liquors and even Blockbuster...for when I can't find a movie I want on iTunes. read more

I love this pharmacy. Unlike most, you can get someone on the phone without being put on interminable hold, there never seems to be a long line, and the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

Love HEB. I think they our an awesome local company and since this is my HEB I know where everything is. Here's Everything Biatch!!!

Average for an HEB. They are a smaller and less renovated location, but they do have everything I need generally and are less packed than, say, the Mueller location. The convenience makes it worth it, but there is always an abundance of fruit flies in the produce section. Avocados and strawberries are always to the point (or past the point) of ripeness/freshness. Overall, very convenient location, the layout is easy to become familiar with, it is an easy location to "run in and out" , but I do wish the produce section was of higher quality. read more

I love this HEB! Jeff in produce is the sweetest. The remodel looks really good! If you go during daylight it can be pretty busy. But they have tons of workers everywhere. I prefer nighttime shopping. There's still enough workers and not a mass amount of shoppers. The store has been there 60 years, which is impressive. I find the store to be perfect for me. read more

This is probably one of my favorite HEBs. It has a nice balance of inexpensive and quality ingredients. The biggest problem with this store is that they do not have a butcher counter, and all you can get is pre-packaged meats, and the availability of cuts varies throughout the week. I have bought several packs of chicken that spoil before the sell by date. Produce is OK. Overall, there are worse HEBs to go to, and this is close to my house. If you want higher quality ingredients, obviously go to Central Market or Whole Foods. read more

Average HEB, but quick pharmacy compared to the others. Perhaps they are not as busy. Also, the sushi was great.

My family refers to this HEB as the "Politburo HEB" because of its cramped dinginess and lack of selection. To give you an idea of the level of competence at this HEB I can tell you that today the young woman who bagged my groceries put into ONE paper bag at total of 1.5 gallons of milk, 2 quarts of water, and 1 large tub of yogurt. Is it any wonder the bag broke? read more

The staff is friendly, but the place just seems dingy and dirty most of the time. The produce selection is limited and not always very fresh and the lack of a seafood or meat counter really puts this below most other stores in the area. I have heard that this location is getting a re-model in 2010 (the adjacent store space that is currently vacant was supposedly purchased by HEB) and I hope that is true. Love the staff and location, but think it needs a clean-up. read more

The update and expansion were desperately needed and make a HUGE difference. As important if not more so, the employees there are friendly and helpful. I have never had a bad experience with any of them, and I go there weekly to feed a family of 4. In my fantasies, they'd go all-out with the fun food demos and samples that they have at the HEB on 360/Bee Caves, the one on Far West and out on 620 - - then they'd get 5 stars. ;) read more

This is the HEB i go to, it has all the organic food i need and a wide selection. Everything is easy to find and it takes me 20 min to get all my groceries and be back in my car. read more

I go to the one on Burnet road and it's pretty good although the folks at the pharmacy are hit or miss and can either be super nice or really bitchy. The place is laid out ok but not super fancy or cool in any way. They have the basics pretty well but not a good selection of steaks which is important to me. The best thing I suppose is the location being only 3/4 of a mile from my house. read more

I've been coming to this HEB for about two years now, almost every day. We use HEB for pretty much everything. I used to love it. It has everything, the workers were nice, so forth. I go to school right by here, so it's easy for me to pop on over after class and pick up stuff to make food for my family. The last six or seven months things have become steadily worse. They don't have as much stocked at night, which is unfortunate for them, since there's an HEB by where we live, and the new employees have a shit attitude. Some of the old crew (the ones that were actually good at their jobs) are still around, but some of the new ones really need to remember which side of the counter they're on. Today, this one girl (her name tag said "Sam" but they don't wear the right tag sometimes) got kind of shitty when I tore the receipt off myself. I know, sorry, I used to be a cashier and I forgot what side of the counter I was on myself. Also, I have a concussion right now, no joke. But then I remembered that I needed cigarettes, and apparently it took everything in her to look at the bagger until he went and got them for her. It pained her so much that she had to chunk my change at me without saying anything. I still like this HEB better than the one by my place, so instead of losing my business, what I'm going to do is that everytime I see "Sam" working, I'm going to stand in her line, I'm going to wait until she has everything all rang up, then I'm going to ask for a pack of cigarettes, just to piss her off. I spend too much money on this company to be treated like shit. read more

This past weekend was my sons graduation from UT law school. I ordered 7 flower arrangements over the phone, because I live in Virginia, with the floral manager whose name i believe is Geislia. I cannot tell you how beautiful they were! Exactly as i described, the flowers were fresh, the greenery was exotic, and the containers were exactly what i asked for. Guests were commenting on the flowers all evening! My son is getting married in December and I'll definitely be back. You'll only be disappointed if you don't call them. read more

This place is going to need to buy up it's entire shopping center!! Apartments are going up EVERYWHERE in the immediate neighborhood. Yes, they did a prior expansion. But It's still way too small. They did not do anything really substantial with the seafood counter. I am still curious how you could get away with that. Okay Austin is landlocked, And eating/health habits were different in the 1950's (when people smoked indoors!). But HEB needs to understand this neighborhood GENTRIFIED and big time. You'd figure they'd know how to renovate a store to appeal to a predominantly health conscious crowd. read more

My family has shopped here every since we moved to Austin in the lte 1960s and I have continued the tradition. The personnel are courteous and kind especially to the elderly and disabled. Everything is clean and fresh and perfect and their produce is always good --excellent,really. I am glad they seem to have started serving lunches again. their fried chicken is delicious as is their roasted chicken ready to go and their bakery is also full of delicious treats. If you can get their fresh cornbread--lucky you! Warm cornbread with some delicious lightly salted HEB butter and a nice cold glass of HEB whole milk-yum! I know where everything is--even after the recent expansion and that keeps me coming back as well. I have seen people who wprk here literally grow up with the store which I also find reassuring. Loyal customer? You betcha! I have shopped at other HEBs in town but THIS is my "home base." Good solid selection, reasonable prices, helpful & courteous staff..Gotta love my HEB read more

This heb is one of the worst. It's my neighborhood heb and I will drive all the way to the mueller one for better selections. The produce is always slacking. I just bought 3 things of blackberries that were all molded. I went back and got more and the same thing! When I tried to tell the store I was hung up on multiple times and never reached a manager. The entire store is organized very oddly and it makes it hard to find things. Our selection at this heb is limited compared to other hebs. For my daughters first birthday I wanted a cake made and the bakery ladies were very snappy with me saying they would only do what was in their little flip book, I had to go to mueller to get them to make me a cake which I know all heb's are suppose to do (it was just their red velvet one from online!). Some of the stockers legitimately don't care if you have kids and have pushed my basket out of their way with my daughter in it when I was looking at food, or completely blocked isle and will ignore your "excuse me's". I love heb but it makes me really sad going to this heb.... read more

This is my HEB now! Moved from 620 to near 2222/35 recently, and this HEB is better organized, more friendly, and has better produce and selection than 620/Anderson Mill and 620/2222. My family and I were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, friendliness, and layout of the store, being a more "inner city" store...we didn't know what to expect, other than it might not be as pleasant of an experience as the 620 stores. This one has the 620 locations beat for sure. When asked about donuts by the dozen, the baker immediately had his man box up some that were fresh out of the oven, instead of referring me to the boxes in front of the checkout that I missed on my way in this morning. Great service from this team. read more
