I had a very frustrating experience at H.E.B. today while trying to complete a Western Union transaction at the customer service desk. Initially, I was denied because my driver's license had expired just three days earlier. Wanting to resolve the issue, I immediately renewed my license online and returned with my renewal confirmation, which included all of my updated information. I also presented my expired photo ID to verify my identity. Despite providing both documents, I was denied again because the renewal paperwork did not include a photo. When I asked to speak with the store manager, Emmanuel, who identified himself as the store manager, told me there was nothing he could do. He also commented that I should have renewed my license in person so the paperwork would have a photo on it. I understand that businesses must follow identification policies for Western Union transactions, but the lack of empathy and willingness to explain my options made an already stressful situation much worse. Being told there was no way to help and essentially being blamed for renewing my license online was disappointing and unprofessional. This experience caused a significant inconvenience, and I left feeling like customer service was more focused on dismissing my concerns than trying to assist me. I hope H.E.B. provides better training on how to handle situations like this with professionalism and compassion. read more

HEB is a great place to shop. The people that work here are amazing and soooo nice. The parking lot is open and usually has plenty of parking. The floral dept is great with fresh flowers. The produce is also amazing. The meat selection is good but I wish there was a butcher window but it's an older HEB. The fish counter is great with food selection of fresh fish. The store is older but always clean and nice to shop in. Overall for an older store it's pretty great to shop here. Little smaller than the new mega HEBs but it our neighborhood store and feels like it !!! read more

I always stop by this H-E-B on Burnet Road right after my dental visits (the dentist I go to is just down the street) on my way into the office, and it's always a breeze. The store is incredibly clean, organized, and consistently well-stocked with everything I need. Even when it's busy, the service is fast enough to get me back on the road without hitting traffic. It's easily one of the most reliable grocery spots in town for a quick, stress-free run. read more

This review is specifically for the pharmacy. The staff here is always really nice and and main pharmacist is always so diplomatic when i ask questions about new prescriptions. I appreciate how they go the extra mile to check on my multiple insurance coverage options too cause certain things are free on one and others are only covered on the other. I would give 5 stars but i wish the HEB app would let you choose which insurance/workmen's comp policy you want to be applied to rx when you request them in the app. read more

Review is for the pharmacy. Excellent service! Prescriptions were ready and on time and pharmacist gave great customer service and consultations. The clerk even offered to ring up my groceries but I declined as I know they are very busy. Will continue to use them in the future! read more

While it is smaller and less fancy than some locations, I love our neighborhood HEB. Friendly staff who always welcome you with a smile, clean and tidy aisles & great selection. read more

This HEB is a little farther than my go to one, but I like it because they have a very large international foods section. It also has more check outs so faster service and offers stuff the Hancock one does not. Parking is not good here. The beer and wine selection is better. Good to have multiple HEB store options. read more

Mid tier for HEBs. For a non-HEB plus they keep well stocked. Parking situation is pretty good as long as you don't go during prime weekend times Only downsides are the understaffing of cashiers resulting in long line, and the frequent moving of aisles resulting in a confusing shopping experience. Good enough to be your local HEB if it's your closest option, but if you're deciding between 2 it may not be the clear choice read more

It's a great place. Always clean. Food is fresh and if you have questions there is always someone to ask.

Let's be real here... every HEB is amazing compared to the grocery chains of the Northeast. This particular HEB lacks in the meat and seafood departments. Just make the trek 2.1 miles down the road to Central Market if you're feeling like stuffing your face on some animals/sea creatures. Other than that, they recently went through a mild renovation on the isles/wine-beer sections. Lines are always an issue at this particular location as well. Either way.... if I need some quick things, this spot is my go-to. FYI... Navigating their parking lot is no fun! read more

H-E-B - ows a bag of taylor's pork roll - Grocery Near Me - Austin, Texas

This is the closest HEB to us but I usually choose to go to the Far West location instead. The feel of this one is a bit sketchier and less inviting, there's less parking, and the meat and fish selection is more limited. In general the few times I've gone I felt like their selections of everything (produce, meat, etc) were mostly out of stock. It's not a bad back up HEB, if you need an ingredient in a pinch, but it's not my first choice. read more

HEB has been a major grocer for decades and they have been here this long because they are great at bringing good food to consumers for reasonable prices. There stores have become large inviting stores that sell everything and anything. It's always hustle bustle in the stores. I generally go the checkout with a cashier unless I'm purchasing a small amount and I use the self checkout. When using the self checkout it stings when a partner "corrects" me when something doesn't work. Look Karen, I don't do this. This isn't my "job". In fact, I'm helping you by doing this myself. Try to be a little more patient with your shoppers. .......also, World Peace of course. read more

This is a such a great H‑E‑B! Items are typically in stock and frequent new items-just of course like any grocery store, try to avoid Sunday afternoons. Good selection of vegan items and everything is easy to find. It's clean and service is friendly! read more

This store is always inviting and clean. Love the music. Every time I visit Texas this is my go to store.

They are rearranging this store again. Both customers and employees are complaining. This is one of the smallest in their chain. The employees are mostly good here but the selection isn't anywhere near what they have at the 41st. Street location or the Far West store. I have often called this one is a 7/11 on steroids. They lock one of the entrances in the evening which is both inconvenient and a potential fire hazard. I love HEB and wouldn't shop here if I didn't live so close. I make monthly trips to larger stores for items this dump doesn't carry. Also, the seafood dept often opens late and closes early. Please note, that some of the pictures others have posted are from other stores. read more

Favorite grocery store in Austin thus far. Haven't visited the others yet, but I like having an app to save my coupons and get freebies on Sunday. I have been buying their cookies and brownie deal which ends Tuesday. Buy 6 cookies and get 4 gourmet brownies free!:) I also got a free melon and the guy who helped me with the app to reserve the item said they give away something free every Sunday. What's not to love? read more

It's a fine HEB, but parking lot can be treacherous with competing traffic from cross streets. Store is small compared to typical HEBs, although the produce department thankfully gives the store some feeling of openness. The space between aisles and checkout is small. Checkout lanes are smashed together. The store isn't particularly bright either. I only stop here if I need one or two things at the moment. For true shopping I go to a larger, better stocked, store with a less challenging parking lot. read more

Like any self-respecting Texan, I'm loyal to H-E-B, but I'm only loyal to this location due to convenience. It's a bit older and more cramped than some other H-E-Bs in the area, though I appreciate the sense of local tradition surrounding the location's longevity and the close quarters are only an problem during the Sunday afternoon rush. My main issue is with the disorganization at this location. On an individual level, each employee has been nothing but friendly, patient, and attentive, but twice now the store has forgotten items in my curbside order. Last time, I took a refund, but this time, I went to pick up my missing items and the store had no idea what I was talking about, even though I called in advance. Another minor gripe is that the parking lot is a pain to get in and out of, though this is out of the store's control. read more

All the people I know here in Austin said, "Everyone loves H-E-B!" So, I made sure to stop in one before leaving town. It reminds me of the Food City in TN. Their marketing is somewhere between Walmart and a traditional grocery store with long aisles all shelves the same. This location had what I needed in the pharmacy section. The parking lot had a security guard walking through the cars. I went later in the evening and the entrance doors were locked. The store was being stocked and had a lot of people in street clothes that seemed to be working on stocking. No employees approached me or said hello, which was fine- I just got what I needed and left via the self check-out. read more

I know it is weird to leave a review for a grocery store - but hear me out. This was one of the weirdest HEB experiences that I've had. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE HEB and they are the only chain I shop at but I knew something was going to go awry when I pulled up and already saw an ambulance and police cars outside. Despite the ensuing chaos in front of the store, I continued going about my grocery shopping - except the layout of the store made it incredibly difficult to do so. I believe they are undergoing a reorganization of the store, but they have placed the aisles in such a way where some areas can literally only fit one cart vertically. It is basically impossible to socially distance (as another reviewer said as well), and if someone comes up behind you while you are in these aisles you are NOT LEAVING They also do not have an international section like most other HEBs (at least not that I could find), and I couldn't find any soy sauce read more

For the PHARMACY only: If you ever need a great pharmacist at an HEB, Steven at the Allandale store is the one. He listens, and he explains, ans he helps. Thank you, Steven. read more

I don't know what has happened to this store! I have been shopping at the Allandale location for years but now I dread going grocery shopping. they constantly run out of items and don't restock for days. They have all the H‑E‑B brand items on the top and mid-level shelves, with the name brand items on the lowest shelf. I buy H-E-B brand items but when I have to squat down, or get on my hands and knees to get the last brand-name item on the bottom shelf, it infuriates me. I'm supposed to track down an employee to get down on their hands and knees? no thank you. no one should have to do this. Why not restock overnight and then again later in the day? this location is small. when you get stockers and pickers going, and you add in the huge number of people who shop here now, it's a freaking nightmare. I live just down the street in Crestview but I guess I'll start shopping at Randall's. and it doesn't matter what time of day you try to shop At this location. It's all bad. Oh, and why limit self-checkout to 10 items? What is that??? Other stores don't limit you at all. At least make it 20 so people can get in and out of there without risking undue stress and aggravation! read more

When ordering curbside they give you the option to leave a note. THEY NEVER FOLLOW WHAT I ASK!!!! I ask for no plastic bags for produce. I write that note for each produce item and then also for the general order. I get home and there are plastic bags. I'm so sick of them doing this, curbside is convenient but it's insulting to have me leave a note then COMPLETELY DISREGARD IT!! I would give ZERO STARS but that's not an option. I'm done with it. I'm actually going to stop shopping there altogether and start using the one by campus since the management there doesn't care. read more

Quit moving stuff around! It makes it impossible to find anything and even employees don't know where items are.

Ok HEB but way too many HEB knockoffs rather than your favorite brand. There'll be 5-10 facing rows full of the HEB knockoffs and a single empty facing row for the name brand product you really want. Didn't used to be this way. Thanks corporate suits... read more

This review is about curbside pickup only. So our normal H-E-B could not do a curbside pickup today so we choose this heb. Huge mistake they really don't have their act together. I got a text that my order was ready and was there 5 minutes early. Several other customers seemed to be getting their orders but mine was delayed , No one thee gave a rats ass about why and said management was off on Sunday evenings. Is this true if so shameful. In the end it would have been faster and a lot less stressful to get my food the old fashioned way. read more

Delighted with the pharmacy! Everyone I've had contact with has been pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to answer questions about good RX and my insurance coverage. I received a text when my prescriptions were ready. Very timely. So glad I picked this store! read more

Stockers and curbside employees completely clogged up the produce section on Sunday afternoon. And they were pushy and rude when they were in the way of shoppers. Can management pick another time for restocking? And the people filling curbside orders - I know they are on a schedule, but can y'all ask them not to treat customers like they are in their way? Once I got away from that mess, it was fine, as usual, but for the size and regular clientele, it's a mediocre HEB. read more

This place was okay until they made all the good parking spots curbside only. Then if that wasn't bad enough they instituted hostile architecture on the shopping carts limiting them to a very limited range of the parking lot. This is to prevent the unhoused community from taking the shopping carts off property. Now I'm sure we can all agree people shouldn't steal the carts and more power to HEB for doing this. However, there was an oversight when the range was set. They even went as far to paint the perimeter of where they can go which isn't far. I'd say half of the parking lot is reachable. So if it's busy and you have to park further away (which would require a cart even more for the longer trek) you can only get your groceries about halfway there. Since I'm forced to park further than I used to because of the curbside pickup spots already I now can't get a shopping cart to my car. The wheels actually lock on you when you hit the narrow perimeter in the middle of the parking lot lane almost getting me hit by a car forcing me to stop in the middle of the lane. So then my groceries are now stuck in the middle of the parking lot I have to strain myself with a heavy full basket having spent hundreds of dollars to get the necessities half way to my car. Trying to balance it on the back wheels to no avail I just had to drag it across with locked wheels slowly to my car. If I were in worse shape I don't know what I would do. Now unload the car and you expect this basket to be returned to the basket return spot that actually exists beyond the limit with the wheels locked. I just lifted the basket over my head and walked it back to a basket return spot because I am a Good Samaritan. Thanks HEB. On the way in I saw an elderly lady struggling with the same basket issue . I'm lucky I'm still able bodied. If I wasn't able to lift the basket as I get older the basket would likely just have to sit in the middle of the parking lot until someone else that could move it moved it. It shouldn't bother me this much but if you are going to put locks on the baskets have the range hit all parts of your parking lot. Maybe this is your way of trying to get people to pay for curbside or delivery but I just thought I'd let you know you are inconveniencing long time customers who have given this place tons of money to basically invest that money into an idea that makes my overall experience harder to spite an unhoused person. Until this is addressed and I have to park beyond the limit of shopping cart range you can find the cart nicely placed upside down in front of the cart return for your convenience to unlock the wheel or whatever has to be done. read more

I was accidentally charged for 10 avocados instead of 1 lol just a slip of the finger is all. I took my receipt in and they were super helpful and I was reimbursed for the $20 worth of extra avocados that I didn't purchase H‑E‑B rules. This particular store has wonderful staff, the food is always fresh and delicious looking, and I always find what I'm looking for. When it's busy they work hard to make sure everyone gets through the lanes quickly. The isles are always neat and organized and stocked. H‑E‑B is known for all their good deeds and I enjoy shopping here! Thanks H‑E‑B! read more

This HEB used to be my go-to for groceries or bill pay on my way home from work. I won't bother them with my business any longer, because they seem to be incapable of scheduling enough staff to keep the business center open. I don't have the time to waste coming here specifically to take care of business, only to find that I now get to backtrack during lunch rush traffic and add an hour on to what I have to get done. Unacceptable. read more

H-E-B - BS - Grocery Near Me - Austin, Texas

My only problem with this HEB is that they dont have store made fresh tortillas!

I really just want to shout out the curbside staff here because they're always so helpful and kind! Beyond that, I think this HEB is perfectly acceptable and has the bases covered, but it's not as well stocked as other locations such as the Hancock HEB. read more

3 stars because there's nothing special about this location. This is an older and smaller HEB, but it still has everything you'd find in an average grocery store. The surrounding area is nice, so this location tends to feel pretty safe. Really nothing more to mention, other than they ran out of bananas once, which was not das. read more

Like some of the other reviewers have noted, this store has slid some and a lot of the same team aren't there anymore. What's really bad about this location is the safety and security. This evening wasn't my first experience with this, but the homeless in the area regularly use the men's restroom for their daily hygiene activities, basically to the point of using the restroom for personal grooming and limited bathing. There were two particularly troubling parts of tonight's incident. First, the clearly mentally ill man scared off a young child from the restroom. Second, when I reported the matter to the lady at the customer service desk, she wasn't concerned and took no steps to address the matter. This HEB needs some security to make people feel same and comfortable in the store. read more

I've shopped at the Allandale (5808 Burnet) HEB every 2 weeks or so since 2015. In the past year or so, I've noticed several things in the store that make it unpleasant to shop there: (1) The temperature in the store is uncomfortably warm. I'm almost always literally sweating by the time I leave. (No, I don't have weird body-temp issues! My home thermostat is set to 76 during the summer, and I don't notice the temp in any other store.) The first couple of times I left sweating, I thought it was just me having hot flashes that day or something, but no... It's really the store's temperature, EVERY time I go there. (2) The grocery baggers have not been trained properly. Eight out of 10 times I go there, the baggers put fruits, vegetables, bread, raw meat, etc., at the bottom of the bag and pile heavy stuff on top, thus ruining many a vegetable, etc. I even unload all of my heavier items from my cart first, thinking the bagger will get the hint and put those things at the bottom of the bags, but... no. It seems like no manager ever took the time to train them on how to bag groceries. (3) This has happened to me 3 times in the past couple of years: An item that I bought was not bagged at all. I'd get home and then realize I didn't have a certain item, then check the receipt and see that I had paid for it...and then have to drive back to the store and talk to a manager and get a replacement, etc. A big pain. Overall: It's a sloppy store. I go there because it's closest to my apartment. But I don't like it that much. read more

This is one of those old school HEBs. You know what I'm talkin about -- flat room, brown brick, cramped aisles. Or at least it was! Their expansion late last year turned it into a much bigger, brighter version of itself. And that's a good and a bad thing. Great because there's more selection, it feels open, clean, filled with endless possibilities... and bad because I have to walk .5 mi to get to the milk in the back corner in the typical and annoying marketing ploy to get you to walk through the store. The produce is always plentiful and fresh, they've got a good variety, it's typically not super crowded and people are helpful. As far as HEBs go it's not super remarkable but then, I have a soft spot for HEBs and unless we're talking abut the super ghetto ones on Lamar or Oltorf, I'm probably going to love it. read more

I've been shopping here for 4 years and always find what I need. Friendly managers and staff. The store was recently remodeled and it looks great! read more

H-E-B, how can I share my love for thee? Let me count the ways!! 1) curbside - I'm obsessed! I can either pay $4.95 and have it ready in a couple hours or plan a few days in advance and have it done for free! Dude, no matter what, you're going to save money because you know darn well if you walk in that store you're going to spend more than $5 on things they market that look fabulous! 2) You've kept us alive during COVID! Your employees have been cleaning nonstop, you spread out everything, you've enforced masking (when enforceable), you've put down arrows, you count heads so it doesn't get crowded, you keep ordering all the things we need! 3) you saved us during SNOVID 2021! No power, no electricity, no water, no problem, you've got us! If you didn't have it in the store, you donated a metric poo ton of food to feed those that their food went bad. 4) you let people WALK OUT in Leander with full buggies when you didn't have the ability to check them out when the power went out. You care about people!!! You support Texans like nobody else! 5) You have high quality products at amazing prices. Literally, I've quit cutting coupons because your products are just as good OR better than "name brand". 6) this particular store is small and guess what, I LIKE IT THAT WAY! I can find stuff, I am not in something that seems like a Walmart. There is a huge selection of items. 7) The partners in this H-E-B are top notch. Always friendly and helpful! I heart H-E-B and no, I don't work for them, but I sure hope to always have one near me. My husband has talked about moving out to an area that H-E-B doesn't serve...I told him that's a no go. LOVE IT HERE! read more

It is an OK HEB. Yes, it old and worn out, but it does its job. It could use a lot of cleaning, but there are some things out of the ordinary, and that is cool. I was looking for fresh squeezed OJ, and they did not have that, but they did have a great selection of hot sauce. What was really interesting is listening to two employees talking to each other about how much they loved their jobs there that they have had for several years (while they were rapidly stocking shelves). That alone makes it a solid 3 alone. read more
