I was attending an outdoor wedding in November and the wedding had a specific color palette that guests were supposed to wear so I was in need of some new clothing pieces to make sure I matched the aesthetic. This is one of their bigger stores, and I was able to find a decent pair of dress pants and an overcoat for a fairly reasonable price. Being on the shorter side I had to get them hemmed at a tailor but for something I plan on wearing just a handful of times I thought it was good value and decent enough quality. H&M definitely runs small so I had to size up compared to other brands, so I learned it's best to try (which I hate tow do) before buying. While the staff couldn't really answer questions about the length of pants, they did mention their email club (which is free) and I got 15% off purchase that day, which ultimately with the savings paid for my tailoring. read more

Overpriced for cheaply made clothes with poor quality fabrics. Staff here isn't even nice to customers. Dressing room is always dirty. They don't price match their own (cheaper) website prices so there's really no point in shopping in store. read more

The place was bright and organized on Tuesday afternoon, with a variety of styles available, even if not a lot that appealed to me. I also noticed that quite a few women's clothing, in size medium and black in color, were out of stock. Luckily, H&M sizes sometimes run large, so I could fit a few small sized items. I initially came to pick up more professional attire for work (they only had a handful I liked), but I ended up also grabbing more casual wear, couldn't resist (plus it's been forever since I've gone clothes shopping). I like that they allow 10 garments at a time in the fitting room. Otherwise, nothing special about this store at Hillsdale. And service at the register was standard. read more

They will not accept my premium collection returns bc the manager said I can't return online items to the store that's over $100 or from the premium collection. She said "didn't I tell you this before?" Turns out she had mistaken me for someone else because all Asians look alike?! Unbelievable. I was accused of stealing with my 9 year old daughter after I spent $200 on clothes for her. The white man told me because I had a lot of stuff ( lots of other purchases I made from Nordstrom's and shoe store on our mother daughter date) Then he walks away so I dumped my bag out, showed receipts and then he didn't wanna see it anymore and proceeded to ignore me. While I understand what stores are going thru since my husband is a regional loss prevention manager I was quite embarrassed and insulted since I don't understand why I was picked out and treated rudely. However, I missplaced the receipt so I figured with technology they could look up my order, or at the very least provide store credit. I really like H&M generally - this store is not that big so that's a bit of a bummer especially as they don't have any men's shoes at all. It's a bit of a treasure hunt here - sometimes you time things just right to scoop a great clearance or sale item...other times we walk out with nothing. I called to see if they have a pair of pants that I want. They immediately pick up the phone and hanged up multiple times. What's the point of having the telephone in your store if you were gonna hang up? Then when I finally got to the store, I noticed the associates act like they have a right of way to walk when some pregnant lady was trying to walk by. Could you all have a little manner and be mindful when someone (pregnant) lady trying to walk by? Don't squeeze through the small space you got. read more

It's always super organized and clean when I go in and they carry a ton of sizes which is a win. This store is decent sized and all on one floor. Sale sections are sprinkled throughout the store, and they have a great selection of kids clothing too. I don't really go to the mall much so I just park in the side entrance near Macy's/Cheeecake, walk into H&M and Forever21 and then go on my merry way! Make sure you get on the H&M email list. They often send out coupons (i.e. Buy One get One Free, 20% off clothing) that they do not promote within the store. They can just take the coupon off your phone, no need to print it out. read more

This is the H&M located at Hillsdale Mall. I've been here a few times and find that their sales are pretty good. You can find dresses for as low as $5 sometimes. They also have things like download the new mobile app and get 15% off your purchase, which is nice. H&M clothing lasts pretty long for me, as long I wash cold and air dry. I usually get tired of the clothing long before it starts to break down. read more

I truly hope corporate and the store manager reads the reviews for this store. While there were shining stars, like Aubrie, in the dressing room who went above and beyond in helping me find an item at various stores, all while providing exceptional customer service with a smile as we shopped for clothing for my father's funeral. It was Jamie, the cashier, that not only ruined the whole experience but I think is an awful example of service. As a previous cashier at another retail store in my youth, I know both the personality and efficiency needed to make your shopping experience pleasant and quick. She lacked both. As she scanned my items, she questioned my choices, didn't smile, took her sweet time, double scanned and item, and made faces. How very demeaning... beyond words. I am a grown adult and have always tried my best to remain courteous and greet others with a smile. But as the transaction progressed, not only did I leave with a sick feeling in my stomach and completely judged, it pushed me to the point of writing this review. Again, the 3 stars is because of Aubrie (she deserves 5 stars and a raise/promotion). If not for her, I would have given a 0 for how this ordeal made me feel...so disappointed! read more

GOOD DEALS I knew of H&M from San Francisco - but what I didn't know was there's one at Hillsdale Mall. For the most part, they do have good selections. The quality is okay. I bought a suit which had a good fit, but the buttons started falling off after a few use and the pants started catching lints. I did manage to buy a jean for $10 which originally cost $40. That was a great deal but you do have to dig under the rebels or know which rack to look! I found out by following the foot traffic and why everyone were huddling in one area! I also found their slim fitted jeans pretty cool. They have a nice fit and they do stretch! A really cool feature especially after drinking too much beer or eating too much Lumpias! If you are looking for clothing that is young (SWAG), hip and moderate prices moderate quality - I think H&M will not break your bank and can provide you that current look that your friends will go "cool!" PS - watch your prices when you checkout because when I bought two two jeans with the same style but different sizes - one was $10 cheaper than the other. I was told by the manager that they were all priced wrong and will correct them asap! read more

Love it for the low priced basics. I'm just not sure about the way this store is set up. I've only been in a couple of times and both times the long checkout line went down the center of the store which I suppose was the intent, since all the little knock knacks, earrings, necklaces, tights, etc. are lined up there, hoping for those last minute impulse buys. It makes it difficult to get around. I waited in line for 20 minutes to try on a shirt, then ran out of time and had to leave empty handed. The return policy isn't the best but I suppose it keeps costs (and prices) down. read more

I really liked the selection of this store and the friendliness of the cashier at checkout. I was finally able to find a pair of bootcut jeans in my size at a really great price. My only gripe about this store is that most of the store was a complete mess. I had to dig through a bunch of jeans and blouses for a while to find the sizes I needed. Overall I'm pressed by the great selection they had at this location and how helpful and friendly the employees were. I'd say this might be one of my favorite H&M stores! read more

I have been a regular here for 6+ years and have found it ok in terms of collection and pricing. The staff has also been helpful. However, a week ago I had the worst experience in any shop ever in my life. When I tried to make small talk with the checkout staff, Brian, while paying he shook his head and murmured "that's random." Yes, a staff shaking his head and saying random to a customer who was trying to be friendly. Not only this, he didn't even say thanks or if I found everything alright. I experienced way better customer service here than at the Santana Row location (I've been back to the Santana Row location twice since I reviewed it, and sad to say my experience didn't improve - I just go in, browse, and then go home to order online). A sales associate greeted me right away, asked me if I needed assistance, and told me that the Straight Regular Jeans were an online exclusive (I've been buying them online, but was curious to see if the store carried them). The items were organized and the store was clean. I tried on seven items (a cardigan, a dress, and five tops); it was a good thing that I tried these items on, because the sizing varied - the cardigan, dress, and one top all fit me great in Small, and the other four tops fit me well in Medium. The dressing room attendant was friendly, and she both apologized for the long wait and thanked everyone for their patience. I had five people ahead of me, and I was in line for about 20 minutes. The cashiers smiled and made eye contact; as I waited in line, I heard them greeting customers. My cashier said hi and asked me if I found everything that I was looking for. He also double-checked all my items to make sure he had removed all security tags, which I really appreciated. One of my items didn't have a price tag, and he was able to look it up immediately. As he handed me my purchases, he told me to have a good day. They have men's, women's, and children's sections (one floor only, unlike the two-story Santana Row location). This h&m is messy, cluttered and the sales associates are not helpful. I love h&m but this location is by far the worst. Went shopping today to find a swim suit and other last minute packing necessities I need for my international riot coming up this Friday. I had found a pair of bikini bottoms in a size 8 but needed a size 6 or 4 maybe... After checking all the racks really well I asked a cashier to do a merchandise look up to see if they had they size I needed (as there was clothing all of the store and I had found these bottoms in the dress section... The man continued to tell me that wasn't possible to look up store merchandise and to look on the floor. I asked politely how they even know what inventory is in the store if they can't do a look up and the man said I know my job, what's out on the floor is what's available. Completely RUDE! I left my things at the counter and walked out. It's ridiculous how the sales associates aren't willing to help and are okay with loosing a costumer/ sale because they are too busy cleaning or chatting with their co workers. Love, love, love this H&M! Standard store with the sections split up for women, men and kids. Awesome selection, clean store, loads of fitting rooms and fabulous selection of accessories. Note...due to great prices and large selection, this location draws a crowd. With that being said, expect a short wait to check out, but it'll be worth it. Overall...you can't beat the value here. H and M has mostly cute, cheap clothes that are perfect for the workplace and a night out. Although I usually find a cute top or jacket, I feel like the styles have gotten increasingly worse (hipster). There is always a sale, and like I said, something to be found for the workplace (cute jacket for $20? Count me in.) This location is always messy; clothes strewn about, not in the right location, or just placed so far back behind another outfit that you literally have to search through the racks to find anything (and then see if it's in your size). Customer service is severely lacking. I even overheard two employees talking about how they are over their jobs. How refreshing. Love this location because it's convinient! No longer have to go all the way to SF or San Jose. They have a good variety to choose from. Just wish their sales people had better customer service and a better attitude. If you don't like being friendly to people, plese don't apply to work in retail. Management needs to step it up. This review is based entirely on the service I've had here. This is your typical H&M but I've received really bad customer service here. When I went in to return things I bought online (that didn't fit) the cashier not only dismissed and ignored things I asked but responded in a tone like I was bothering her by returning items. It was extremely uncomfortable and to top it off when I asked her about exchanging something for a different size she rolled her eyes at me. I've worked in the service industry before and I didn't find her demeanor professional or appropriate at all. I would've been more sympathetic with the attitude if there was a long line but there wasn't.... :/ goshes. The company's online policy is that you're able to return items that don't fit and aren't worn in store...why be so rude and make snobby remarks when I'm just asking about exchanging an item? I felt like I wronged her the whole entire 3 minutes I was up there... all I was doing was returning items. Is there no customer service training done here? grrr... My friend saw this happening and we both agreed that if we ever have to return or exchange something it's better to get it done at the Serramonte H&M. This store recently opened in the bottom floor of what used to be Mervyn's. When I went last week, the store was full of people and the lines were pretty ridiculous, both for the registers and the fitting rooms. There were some opening weekend deals (shirts for $5, short trenches for $15) but I'm guessing those sales are already done. The employees working behind the registers were very polite and helpful, although those working on the floor rarely (if ever) offered help. The store was surprisingly neat for how much traffic was going through, but I think I will wait to come back until the novelty of having a H&M store in San Mateo dies down. I didn't make it into the fitting room to try on the things that I wanted since the line did not move at all, so minus stars for that. read more

This is one of the only stores in the mall that has clothes that A: fit and B: has affordable pricing. I shopped here last week due to a new job which requires business casual. In a short period of time I found and fit several items. It got me through the week. I also purchased 2 of the best universal, quarter inch sleeve sweaters of all time. Today is Labor day and I am here at the mall in search of holiday sales. I started at the West end of the mall to arrive Easterly with only body products in my bag. Men's section, whenever I shop, never has people in to ask questions to. It's overstocked so it's difficult to shop, specially hung clothes. They usually overstock with the smaller sizes. Lady named Audrey helped me check out my clothes, she's very nice and very retail oriented. Sol, right next to her was chewing her gum with her mouth open while she was helping another customer waiting for her system to do something, not professional at all. Sol, in front of her customer, takes her time putting on some lip balm, smacks her lips and slapped the lid on her lip balm like she was getting ketchup out of a new bottle and informed her customer that it wasn't working or it was taking forever(I'm not sure what the exact words were). I've worked at so many retail places. As a manager, non of my crew would act in any way like Sol. She also was approached by her co worker, guy with thick drawn brows, saying "did you see her(talking about a customer)". You don't talk to about another customer in front of another. Even if it wasn't the case, it's all about the perception. Her current customer is still waiting while that was happening. This needs to be addressed. Because of what I observed, 1 star. If I could give Audrey, the fast courteous polite employee, a rating it would be 5 stars. So I ended up with 2 stars for this review. For a guy, I like "some" of their shirts, but never the pants. They always seem to be skinny legs, which I can't see myself wearing. How do guys impossibly breathe through those things!?! Their price for clothes are at a decent price. The clothes are made to FIT and not baggy, so for people who like their clothes long, this is not the place for you - sorry. Other than that, I like their shirts from time to time. They're a bit extreme on the colors and it seems like their brand aims toward guys who like skinny jeans, colorful, and homosexuals (not hating, I'm just saying the truth). read more
