Walked into the store and browse what's new. Fall in love with their Venice sweatshirt and Harlow tops. I needed a smaller size and asked one of the lady working there. She's about 5'3" blonde with glasses. She told me it's a sales item and that everything they have is on the rack. So I continued to shop and paid for 4 items with her. She's polite, but not friendly. While I was walking out, another sales lady approached me and asked if I'm looking for anything specific. So I told her I actually really liked the Venice Sweatshirt but they didn't have my size. She then pulled out a device and said that she can order online for me. So I waited, and then she looked at me and said they might have one in the back! She asked me if I can wait for her and I did. She came back with the exact sweatshirt I wanted and helped me with check out so that I didn't have to wait in line again. She's very friendly and professional, she CHECKS her inventory!! And she invited me to come back and shop again. Her name is Debbie. I would definitely go back and see her! Such a nice lady and I hope Athleta could keep her there because this location really is a hit or miss in terms of SA. Store is clean, selections are great. Showed up at 6:55 to pick up an order where the text said they were open until 7. But when I arrived the door was locked and the employees just shook their head at me when I knocked on the door, even though there were still customers shopping inside. I managed to get in because I called the store number, but when I called them out on this, they lied to my face- they said that they close early if it's slow for payroll reasons, but again there were other customers shopping at this time. They also said I could have knocked- but this was exactly what I had done, when they just looked at me through the locked door and shook their head no. I regrettably feel like this was a racial action and I will be reporting this to corporate. read more

Good selection of Athleta products with disappointing customer service. I went in late afternoon on 02/14/25. I'm not even sure I could call the customer service rude because it was actually non-existent. Zero smiles, zero eye contact and zero "hello, can I help you?" A worker walked up to me while I was waiting to get into the dressing room and simply said "name?" And proceeded to write down my name without any further comment. When I exited the dressing room, the second woman present didn't even ask if everything worked out, lacking any acknowledgement of my existence. While looking through the sales rake, I made a friendly comment to the worker about not being able to see the see anything without my glasses, and she made no attempt to return the friendly gesture. Excellent service, happy with my shopping experience here. The curtain-style changing rooms have ample space and are clean. Athleta tends to be pricier than Old Navy or Gap but I think their quality rivals Lulu, which is the next price point up. Purchased a navy jacket and some clearance leggings and will be back. Parking here is challenging, so be prepared to park a few blocks away. read more

Great quality casual/workout clothing with really helpful, nice employees. If they don't have what you want, they can help you order online. Also, if you buy online, you can return to the physical store. Bonus, for me, is free hemming, since I usually prefer the fit of regular length pants over the petite cut. Parking is easy, but don't forget to feed enough coins into the parking meter. Burlingame is famous among locals for parking tickets even if you are just a few minutes late! read more

Racist employee in Burlingame store (blonde, curly tied back hair working Mon, 12/27 at 11am. I went to exchange some gifts my mother-in-law had given myself and my wife for xmas. Great quality, just not the cuts or sizes we needed, so I was looking forward to picking items that suited our taste. Went to the counter with 5-ish items to exchange and did not have a gift receipt to provide as my MIL forgot to include them in the gifts. I figured it was fine since I didn't want $ back, I just wanted to exchange for other items in the store that same moment. Our clothes still had the tags on them and the prices were blacked out (so CLEARLY gifts). For reference, I'm a POC. The employee didn't greet us with any sort of service. She asked me if I had a gift receipt and I said no, that I just wanted to exchange. She then asked me to provide a phone # of the person who made the purchase so she could try to look up my receipt (to be clear, this request is outside of their posted, formal return policy). I offered to share the 3 different phone #s I had for my mother-in-law, complying for the sake of demonstrating what a VALID transaction it was. The first phone # didn't work. She looked annoyed and doubtful and asked me to provide another #. I provided the 2nd # I had and the employee was just quiet. Then asked me again that I just wanted to exchange in-store and I repeated Yes. She told me I had $290 to work with and left. I rushed to pick out alternative items as I was shopping with my 4yr old. While I was shopping I could observe other, older white patrons also making returns/exchanges also without receipts who were not subjected to the suspicion that I was given when I approached the counter. Once I was ready I went to the counter again to complete the exchange. A different employee helped me, an older brunette, SO MUCH BETTER. She asked me if my exchange was related to a purchase under the name "GAIL", and I replied "Yes! That's my mother-in-law!" So in fact, the first employee WAS able to pull up my original purchase transaction with the 2nd phone #, but didn't actually disclose to me that I was able to validate my exchange, just left me guessing. This second employee was kind, offered a sticker to my kid, started to process my return, but got worried she was overcharging me since my total was $77 over my return amount (which I was happy to pay). After being sure she hadn't rung me up incorrectly, she offered to print me out a proper receipt so I could make any returns I needed without any hassle. Not sure if she observed the hassle I was given in the beginning or was being proactively considerate, but I appreciated it. This store stays getting all my little coins. Pretty great customer service and return policies on clothing (especially when it may not work out or may have an issue with something). I go to this location regularly, since it is easier to get to than the locations in downtown SF. I am always greeted promptly and asked if I need assistance. This location typically has a large variety of options in various sizes, which is also a nice plus. I also love that they have regular fitness and wellness class options. You don't always have to come to purchase something, and they sometimes have little giveaways to go along with the classes. You can enter this store from the front or back entrance, which is helpful if you park behind the store. Definitely my go-store for all things athleisure and everything else in between. read more

I am a Loyal.Athleta customer: The clothes and accessories are 5 star rating! The 2 star rating is for the LACK of Friendly Customer service once I entered the front entrance. Literally, as the customer is supposed to be greeted with a warm friendly Hello or even welcome.. NONE !!!!! So, as a customer I approached the cash wrap and the young lady had no sense of communication even just a simple friendly Hello what had been fine! Nada! So, I paid my purchase and I was the one the customer telling the cash wrap clerk thank you and have a great day!!! Yes literally! When they opened next to lulu. I laughed thinking that their business would never survive next to this huge competitor however I was wrong they are thriving and rightfully so My first experience here was so positive I will probably be a customer for life never step foot into the competitor store ever again It was 100 percent about detail to customer service and their ability to go above and beyond to make sure the customer has a positive experience I don't know if Alysson (the tall dark haired women) was the manager but she treated everyone like they were a VIP. If the name on the front of the store read Alyson's I would believe she was the owner. That is the Level of service she delivered to each person inside the very busy retail store. Fitting room is open now, which is gooooood for me. The sales girl are really nice. I tried several tennis skirt but they don't carry the size I need. The girl let me try my size with different color one and ordered the color I want online for me. I just returned items I ordered online from another brand, the items were too large for me. I had went inside the store to purchase a set of mask . The young sales lady had ordered it for me thru online . She ordered the Girls mask and different design instead of the Women's mask in which I wanted . I had to call the customer service to order the right masks and go to the post office to return the wrong masks. Very inconvience! I went in the store to take a risk of buying mask and went to postoffice . I would have not had to do this if the lady would of order the right mask. This staff is so nice and helpful. I buy a lot of clothes online and end up returning or trying on sizes in the store. I'm just too lazy to do store only shopping....hah. I tried on so many pants one day, and the gal was so patient to help me find the right fit. I love Athleta and have my all time favorite street pant here - city fit/tight. So comfy. Their policy is great too - returns and any time. Most of mine are tags attached, just the wrong fit. So glad it's right in a convenient part of downtown and also right next to the amazing farmer's market on Sundays. I came in to make an exchange for a different size. I figured I would look around and see if there were some other items that I might be interested in - should they have not have my size in the current item I was exchanging. The store had a few customers but not at all busy. There were more sales associates than there were customers at the time. However, I spent ~30 minutes (walking from the very front, left to right, and finally the back) in that store and no one ever greeted me or asked if I needed help. In fact, a young, short-haired blonde, walked circles around me the entire time I was at the store asking everyone else if they needed help. I was obviously offended but decided, whatever reason, it's a personal issue. For further context, I'm a Mexican woman. Unfortunately, I'm used to it, so I've learned to chalk up ignorance to what it is and move on. I was close to just returning what I had and not coming back but decided that if I'm going to stop buying there, then no one will ever learn to get passed whatever the issue is - bad service or ignorance... Anyway... I finally just went up to a young lady and asked her for help, purchased and made my exchange and that was that. She was very helpful but it's too bad no one assisted me before. I had a list of other things I needed but decided not to bother. I won't let this behavior keep me from coming here. In fact, I'll come more often. But if I have my choice, I'll probably just order online and save myself the grief. I deserve the same respect and service as everyone else. For Athleta employees who aren't interested in serving someone who looks like me, "don't ruin a brand people are loyal to with poor service". This employee who worked on 12/8/2021 near the closing time in the evening was extremely rude and gave me a traumatic experience. It was my first time shopping at Athleta and the experience was so bad I don't think I'll ever buy from Athleta nor recommend to others. I kinda get why so many people still prefer LuLu Lemon despite their expensive prices. There was one girl who was so sweet and nice, she was helping me since I entered the store, but she had to run back to search something so I was browsing on my own. Anyways, by the time I was ready to pay, there was this another rude girl at the cashier who kept rolling her eyes and gave that weirdly rude attitude. I don't even know why. I thought I was being nice to her, but I guess she was very unhappy that I came in near the closing time. Regardless, when I was walking out after paying, the door was locked and I couldn't open it. I stood there for her to come and help me, and obviously she rolled her eyes at me again as she reluctantly unlocked the door. Lol is unlocking the door for customers that difficult? If she's lazy, she shouldn't have locked it before all the customers leave lol I know it was very near closing time but there still were other people in the store and she still had like 10 minutes to the close time so I don't understand her attitude. The staff has consistently been helpful when we've stopped in to try out new items. They've helped us find inventory in other stores as well as online. The store is clean, well lit and has several fitting rooms. There's a small waiting area behind the registers. They have markers, crayons and coloring paper for those who've brought their little ones along for the trip. read more

While the location did not end up having the color and size combination I wanted I was helped but a very nice employee the whole time named Sophie. I've never shopped at Athleta before, mostly due to the price tag of their clothing, but I received a gift card to the store and I was in need of new work out clothes. I decided to visit the Burlingame location to shop instead of shopping online and I am so happy that I did. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a friendly smile and a greeting. I walked around a little bit and obviously looked lost and Annie came up to assist me. I explained that I never had shopped in the store before and what I was looking for. Annie immediately showed me her recommendations and found my sizes for each item and started a dressing room for me as I continued to shop around. The best part of the entire experience was that Annie (or any of the other employees) were never pushy, shared their personal experience with the clothing, and they all had a smile on their face and actually acknowledged my presence as I walked around the store. Even when I was paying, the associate (I wish I had caught her name) was extremely personable. I walked out of the store with several pieces of clothing and more importantly as an Athleta customer for life. I adore and love this place, it's my go to for pretty much everything, including streetwear, lounge wear, gym wear, everything they do is spectacular. The fabrics and drape, their prices, and above all, their customer service is out of this world. What other shop that specializes in retail high end performance wear will allow you to take it for a "test drive" so to speak and wear it, try it out, and if you don't like it, will let you take it back for a refund or exchange. They actually advertise this, which is in stark contrast to many other retailers of this ilk. I have bought dresses and yoga pants plus sweatshirts and bra tops here, spent a fortune and worth every penny. My favorite times, of course, are their spectacular sales racks, which they have always. The sales people are always very responsive and helpful, no airs of attitude, just out to do their job well. The prices here, the service, the quality--it's all here. If they wanted to, they couldn't do a better job and if I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. read more

I don't actually shop at this location as they don't stock Petite sizing, so I can't comment about that, but I have been here multiple times for their many events or for returns. Events are always well organized and fun and returns were handled quickly and without any problems. read more

I like Athleta clothing but will pass on buying go anything from this location. The employee I interacted w was kind of rude to me and waaaaaay rude to another customer in front of me. The person in front of me was asking if her pickup order was ready. The employee repeatedly didn't listen to her, but kept saying "it's put away, we never hold things more than 24 hours". The other customer was super nice and just pointed out that she had an email saying the item should not be put away until that evening. The employee would barely let her get the sentence out before just saying "we don't have it, it's put back". Also, the layout of this store is just dumb. They have no registers, just a small table right smack in the middle of the store where they use a small scanner to check you out. There is no logical way to line up at this check out area, which results in people just standing around having no clue what to do. read more
