Wow...after reading these reviews--and many from several years ago--I am amazed that Loft is still in business. I was in for the first time last month and had an extremely positive experience. When I walked in the owner was helping another customer by suggesting and pointing out some really cute sweaters that she, the owner, thought would look great on this customer. It was fun watching this interaction as I browsed the racks. The customer looked right out of a European fashion magazine as she tried the sweaters on right out on the sales floor. My immediate impression was that the sales gal (later I learned it is her shop) really knew her stuff. Yes, her approach was pretty low-key, but frankly I prefer that to being pestered by sales staff in small shops. And I think her low-key approach may very well be intentional on her part for the very reason that overly aggressively sales staff in boutiques can be a real turn off and keep people from coming in off the sidewalk. I walked out with some fabulous items. I went in with one particular item in mind and with her help put together a great ensemble. She brought me all kinds of things to try on and was pretty candid about which things she thought worked and which didn't. I honestly have a hard time believing that these negative reviews are for the same shop. I'm headed in again soon. If my experience changes for the worse I will be certain to post. read more

This is one of the greatest stores on Birmingham Avenue. They have the best clothes, the highest quality and the greatest service. They are so nice and helpful in there. I got the most beautiful outfit for a wedding and I am thrilled to death. I will definitely be coming back. read more

The staff in this store when I visited were not wearing masks. Even if the merchandise looked great, this made me v. uncomfortable and not want to even browse. Out of consideration for customers and in alignment with state mask policy, it would be nice to feel safe knowing customers were not at a heightened risk while shopping here. I wish Omicron were not a reality, but the stats tell a different story. read more

Store window was very enticing. Fell in love with a particular t shirt so I had to check it out when the store was open. Well...the *t shirt* was $105!. Ouch. Too steep to justify for a t-shirt, at least for me. The saleslady did greet us and didn't say anything when we brought our 2 dogs into the store with our coffee drinks. read more

I was so happy to see that Loft is back open and stocked with new and fun pieces that you can't find anywhere else. I love this store! Their collection of masks is a must see. HORRIBLE customer service! While the merchandise and location are good, the personnel in this store is consistently discriminatory and blatantly rude. They selectively choose who to assist once a customer enters the store and won't greet her if she doesn't fit the "profile". It's also not uncommon for sales associates to cattily talk about a customer while in the dressing room (foolishly mistaking her for deaf). My elderly mother was once refused the right to use their restroom when in need! **The same merchandise is available at reputable, local retailers (e.g. Nordstrom, Bloomingdales) who have resounding no hassle, courteous and consistent service (and a better return policy).** read more

Gosh, I was trying to review AT Loft. Yes! this store is the rudest on the Burlingame Ave. Unless you "look" like you just condescended to traipse down from Hillsborough to shop there, they are incredibly rude. One time I was thrilled to see a designer dress in the window I had been looking to find and asked the size. When I used to work in downtown Burlingame, I would head over to Loft on pay day and spend about 2/3 of my paycheck there. It's a good thing that I left my job when I did, because I would be in major debt right now. The space used to be twice the size it is now, but they still have a great selection of womens' designer clothing. They carry D&G, Rebecca Taylor, True Religion, Bulga handbags, and other hard to find labels. They also have a good sale section, to move out old seasons to make room for the new. In August's issue of Lucky Magazine, they are offering 20% off any single item in the store. The sales associates are friendly and helpful here, and though they don't pressure you into buying anything, they make you feel so good about everything you try on that you can't say no. I figured after almost four years, maybe things had changed here (see my last review), so I gave them another try when I was in Burlingame recently. Nope. Same snobby, crap customer service. The older woman who works there is horrible. Just horrible. I asked her for a smaller size of the dress I was trying on and she gave me the nastiest look a human being could possibly muster and walked away. I had to go get the dress myself. It's not like a I look scruffy or dirty or *gasp* ...poor, so even all those retail stereotypes can't excuse the rudeness. Obviously, I didn't purchase the dress from them, which ended up being great for me. I found it three weeks later at another boutique for $40 less! read more

Great store and great selection. I see so many negative reviews but I definitely think times have changed, and everyone should give this store another chance. The selection of summer pieces along with high fashion pieces is amazing. Great customer service, they always make sure you have the right size, and recommend pieces that actually look good on you, not just what they want to sell. I thought that Loft was the low end of Ann Taylor? I have never seen other designers in Loft but they do have some cute items and when they have sales they are terrific! Sizes are odd though... I usually wear an 8-10 in most clothing lines and at Loft I am a 6-8, so they boost up your mood by sizing big ladies. Sure... it is not really true that I am 6 but it feels nicer buying something in a size 6 then a size 12! Ah Marketing... What will you think of next?! read more

I popped in here the other day while visiting a friend in Burlingame. What a find on the Peninsula! The loft has the open feel of a New York boutique with the great service and of-the-moment selection. I liked the wide array of Theory and there were some leather items from a company called Superdry that really caught my eye. If I could give out 4.5 I would! It was a short visit but I will be back for sure! read more

I've been shopping at Loft for the past 17 years, and it's my favorite place to shop! The owner, Anki has impeccable taste in fashion, and the sales associates are always helpful and know exactly what I like and what looks good on me. They carry the best current trends to chic, sophisticated French looks. Any time I need something fun, to fancy events, I know I will find multiple pieces I'd love. The only problem is choosing what to get since I would want everything! read more

I have been in the store several times, I always got wonderful service, I would come in with my small dog and sometimes my kids. My kids would be playing on their iPhones while I try things on and won't bothering anyone or disrupt their business, I'll take them for a treat on the Avenue for being well behaved. This is my favorite go to place if I have special event and I want to dress to impress, whether be a day at Napa or fancy night out. The girls would bring me things to try which would be flattering on me and sales aren't very pushy and I always look like a million bucks and gets tons of compliments from my friends. Going to department store might be cheaper when things are on sale but it doesn't replace customer service and helpful stylist, it makes shopping a breeze when I am short on time. Loft have edgy classic merchandise that I love. read more

Great selection! I like to look at the clothes the store has and order it online because the customer service is so horrible that i would never buy from their sales associates. The woman who is in the store most of the time I go in never acknowledges me even though she acknowledges others who walk in. I get the impression that the sales associates only talk to a select few who fit into a certain mold. Maybe id buy from here if the sales associates were nice. But other than that it's a beautiful store with unique pieces from nice brands. read more

no stars if i could seriously, the service is terrible. i came in here the other day looking for a dress for my birthday, and they were completely rude. they really didnt help, they just pointed to me to the dress selection. i quickly glanced and walked out. friendly service is way more important that any brand in that store. the loft gives burlingame avenue boutiques a bad name. read more

Both times I have been at this Loft now, they have made significant errors with my receipt, that I have had to return to the store in order to correct. Both times, they've insisted initially that it is correct, until I do their math and help them get to the correct totals for the actual sale prices/etc. Last time, they were off by more than $50. I have a LOFT card and am a fan of this brand, but can't recommend shopping at this store. I get that LOFT is a good quality and costly, but it's still possible to be aware of sale prices and try to help the customer get a good deal. read more

Loft carries high end brands such as Dolce and Gabbanca, Balenciaga, etc. as well as other incredibly adorable and amazing clothes but the women who work there have the worst attitudes toward the younger people (specifically anyone under the age of 25). My friend and I came in looking for Citizens of Humanity jeans and they ignored us the entire time, even when we asked them for some other sizes. I tried on a couple shirts there and they seemed so annoyed when I asked them to bring me other sizes to try as well. I was so pissed that I almost ended up not buying it. They're really snooty and although I can't afford most of the things in there, I refuse to go in to even browse (unless I'm with my mother) just because I don't want to deal with their attitude. read more

The store was cute. I found several things that I really liked. We didn't stay long as I was on a mission to find a gift for my Spanish teacher and I was looking for something specific. I didn't have any problems with the staff and I was dressed in sweatpants and looked pretty disheveled (In fact I scared myself when I saw my reflection in a store window). If I had more time I would have stayed a bit longer but I did notice that they had some nice candles and some other cute gift-y things. read more

Visiting my brother and took the kids into charming downtown Burlingame. Grabbed Filz coffee and was walking by this store and the designer labels they carried caught my eye....in fact I found a gorgeous, comfy pair of espadrilles and cork soles shoes which I thought would be perfect for my upcoming trip to Italy, however agree with PRIOR review....ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE customer service. The dark haired lady who was helping me was actually pretty nice, but then the short haired blonde with the dog ( without a leash) walked in. My two girls ages 6 and 4 were with me as I was trying on the shoes....my 6 yr old is deathly afraid of dogs and as the blonde lady entered with the dog behind her ( and my daughter jumped up and fled)I mentioned very politely that my daughter has a fear of dogs. I was ignored, then I point blank ( again politely) asked if they could move the dog ( he was standing in the middle of the store) as my daughter was scared. " what do you want me to do? It's his home!" She said sarcastically. I stood in shock for a minute and then dropped everything and told them "Nevermind , I'm good, you need to improve your customer service" and left. Now I sit here writing this review....not sure this was discrimination( as I'm of southasian/American descent) as previous review mentioned, but that's neither here nor there. I have been in designer boutiques all over the Country and in fact the world.....never had an experience like this one. That's not how retail works!!! read more

Loft has some good designer brands but, the service is terrible. I walked in looking at some pants I was interested in buying and the employees did not even greet me or ask if I needed assistance. The clothes may be cute but the service could have been much more polite. A simple "hello, how are you?" would have been nice. I ended up buying the pants somewhere else. read more

Snooty sales people (they are in SALES for goodness sakes!), especially the owner Anki. Loft does have good selection of designer wear, but I'd rather be treated w respect if I'm going to spend $$$. Alot of the same brands/styles end up on sale at Nordstrom or The Rack while Loft keeps merchandise full price even several seasons. read more

Loft is a premier boutique in the Bay Area. If one needs to look for unique fashion, up to date designers, this is the place. The staff is very professional, know their trade well and always take their time to explain what one maybe interested in buying. I love Anki, I believe the owner and have always enjoyed shopping there. There is one brunette sales associate and I don't know her name and she does not possess the best customer service. I brought in a top that was obviously defected to exchange it and she said she would get back to me and never did. She was rude when I went in with the shirt and made me feel as if I should have known better when I bought the shirt (the material was thin and very tiny holes appeared at the bottom of the shirt after only wearing it once! I wish Anki was there to help me. I will never shop in that store and will also spread the word about the customer service. read more

I went into the Loft today to purchase something. Their were 2 sales people and not one of them said hello or can I help you with something. It was a big let down from 20 years ago when I lived in Hillsborough and shopped at the Loft all the time. The atmosphere at that time was very up lifting and positive. Today when I shopped it was a very negative atmosphere. It appears that the store is closing from the on line information, now I understand why. read more

My favorite little boutique on Burlingame Avenue is Loft! The atmosphere is beautiful and spacious with a relaxing, modern vibe to it. The associates are very helpful and friendly with a strong sense of fashion. Dana and Anki really understand all the merchandise in the store, which made it helpful for me. When I was looking for the perfect skirt or a pair of Fiorentini & Baker boots, they both knew where to grab my style and size. I would highly recommend anybody to come here if they are shopping for quality clothing and great customer service. (Plus a little cute doggie named Rocco who kept me company). My friend purchased a fabulous pair of shoes from this store, so of course I had to check it out for myself. It's a super cute boutique with lots of mirrors, a plus! They carry so many of the brands I love and had some very unique pieces that I didn't see online or at other stores. I was assisted by Dana who was so helpul and knowledgeable about the brands and how they fit. She was able to find items that I didn't see myself, or never would have picked up on my own. After I pay off my current credit card bill, I will be back. read more
