From start to finish, our experience here deserved less than a star. I came in with my young children and we were barely greeted (which I could overlook). We ordered ice cream in cups and were handed tiny sample spoons to eat with. My 6-year-old daughter politely asked for two regular spoons for her and her little brother. When she accidentally dropped one and asked for a new one, the worker -- who may have even been the owner -- snapped back with, "Don't drop this one." Incredibly rude and unnecessary. On top of that, we were completely ripped off with the shake. First, it was made wrong, and second, it was basically just milk. I spent $9 on what tasted like a glass of flavored milk. When I asked about the missing chocolate drizzle, I was told, "It would just stick to the cup, so it's blended in." The worker was clearly rushing to get rid of us because of incoming online orders. My husband and I went to this location today at 9am. It was some what crowd. A young boy named Ben (employee number 9 based on receipt ) took our order. My husband ordered a cookies and cream milkshake but what he got was milk. Not only was the shake extremely milked down but he barely put any ice cream in it. It was the most disgusting milkshake we ever tasted. I order the banana split sundae dazzler. I got the smallest two scopes of ice cream with two thin slices of banana, one piece of strawberry and a lot of hot fudge (no pineapple). This obviously didn't fill up the cup. The remaining half of my cup was filled with whipped cream. This came up to $18. Definitely not worth anyone's time and energy. read more

We are fans of ice cream in general but not crazy about Haagen Daz. However, it was the only dessert place in the neighborhood on Christmas' Eve. The decor is bright & clean but the staff was really cool and reluctant. We really appreciate that they worked on a Holiday so it's totally understandable. It was Sunday night at around 9pm (Father's Day) which is understandably busy there was only 3 or 4 servers. We lined up for at least 15 mins before someone took our order which was okay since we wanted it anyway but I am immensely dissatisfied with the unprofessional behavior of Tom the guy that served us I understand it's busy but you really don't have to throw our ice cream on the counter and expect us to catch it when it falls down on the floor we asked for a new cup because again it fell on the floor he gave us an attitude and he never filled the ice cream the way he did with the first cup we saw he took out a large amount of ice cream just to piss us off and again he threw it on the countertop. Very unprofessional. Don't work in the service industry if you're gonna act like a child. We were very uncomfortable. Service is horrible. read more

Stopped in here the other night with my boyfriend and picked up two sundaes. I got the dulche de leche and it was absolutely delicious. I love how creamy the ice cream is and with the combination of whipped cream, caramel and sliced bananas I was in heaven. The girl who made it for me took her time and made it absolutely perfect! My boyfriend got the oreo cookie sundae and was really happy with it as well. Though Haagen Daz is a little bit pricey at times I feel its worth it. You taste the quality ingredients. You can tell that the staff really care about their customers and they are doing their best to make sure we can all get our ice cream fix safely when we need it. Ice cream comes and go in Ridgewood but some places are consistent. But there really isn't a need for this place when you have Ben and Jerry's a block and a half away from here and you have the amazing Van Dyk's 5 minutes away. A True Gem in Ridgewood... Excellent ice cream, extremely clean facility, and awesome customer service are just a few reasons I love this place. During these trying times, Haagen-Dazs in Ridgewood is doing everything possible to ensure a safe environment for both staff and patrons. They even offer curbside pickup. I highly recommend that you give them a try! Also for over twenty years, I have been purchasing special occasion cakes from them. They are always such a hit! The wonderful staff is always ready to help you choose which flavors taste best together. The ribbon cakes are just so beautiful! As a healthcare professional, I appreciate what they are doing to keep everyone safe. It is not easy to work with a mask on and behind plexiglass. It is hard to hear and can become quite hot. It is very hard to remind people to wear their masks properly, without irritating them. Kudos to the owner, manager, and staff for their gentle reminders to the customers who violate the Covid19 rules. This staff is going out of their way to serve our community during trying times. Shocking and very upset! We were at Haagen Dazs this evening at 9 PM. We did not go in because the store was extremely crowded. We waited for people to exit but more we're going in. People were wearing their mask underneath their chin and eating their ice cream inside the store. We left and came back at 9:30 PM and there were only two people in the store so we felt more comfortable. Then additional people entered without a mask. The owner was present in the store both times. Why and how is this acceptable? The protocol is no mask no service, there should have been only a few people allowed in the store at once and no eating and taking off masks while in the store. Hopefully the owner is reading this review and will make changes immediately posting signs everywhere and policing customers. read more

This is my second review for this Ridgewood location of Häagen-Dazs, updated to reflect my positive experience today. My family and I love coming here for ice cream and we were excited that it was open again for business. We were happy to see all the safety precautions in place, including plexiglass installations, markers on the floor for where to stand, and signage asking patrons to not eat in the store, to wear masks, and to observe social distancing. The store was also immaculately clean and the scoopers had their masks on the whole time. I applaud the owner of this store and owners of other local businesses who are investing a lot of time and expense to adjust to this new way of doing business. Moreover, it is truly the responsibility of each customer to observe the safety guidelines and to support store owners in their efforts to keep things safe. I have found this store owner to be very open to customer feedback and suggestions, and he works hard to make improvements to his store and the experience of the patrons. We will be coming back again, for sure (especially for the red velvet ice cream pop - delicious)! read more

Disclaimer - I love ice cream and do not discriminate against any kind of ice cream ever ha! The location of this place (all the way up by the train station) makes it a great place to stop after dinner at one of the many restaurants in Ridgewood. And while they do not have any crazy flavor combinations like Ben & Jerry in town it is still a great place to get an ice cream fix. inquired about the 'free mini cup/cone after your first purchase with the app', but the two employees did not understand how the promotion worked. there was a young white employee that I assumed was the supervisor as the young asian employee would ask her questions. the white employee did not provide good customer service as she was visibly annoyed at me and did not apologise for how long it was taking to figure this out. I was the one apologising and thanking them for their patience with me. the white employee told me I had to come back for a free ice cream at the next visit, when I made another purchase. I wasn't sure why I couldn't just make another purchase right now and then get the free one. it turns out she did not understand how the promotion worked. you need to order something through the app and pay through the app, and then the coupon code for a free ice cream comes up instantly. what she was talking about was their point system - 14 points gets you a free ice cream. I understand there was confusion, however I didn't appreciate her attitude as I was doing my best to educate her on how THEIR promotion actually worked so that the next time a customer asks about it they can give them the correct instructions. But she was glaring at me with daggers and annoyance. the store was empty by the way, so it's not like I was being ignorant of my environment/other customers. I can understand not being fully aware of how your promotions work, but I don't think her attitude towards me was professional at all. the asian employee was friendly and nice towards me throughout the entire transaction. I've worked basic-entry level jobs since I was 16 and customer service is always the #1 rule. I wasn't yelling or being rude, just calmly trying to understand how the promotion worked as I didn't think I'd have to come back another day in order to get the free ice cream- as the advertisement clearly said get a free ice cream after your first purchase through the app. was a pretty bad first experience here. only giving 2 stars instead of one because that asian employee was patient with me and friendly, as the employees should be with any transactions. Very disappointed in the behavior we recently received from the manager. We have been loyal customers of this Häagen-Dazs for the past 19 years and have always been treated well until recently. We called & placed our order- told it would take 5 mins or less as no one else was there waiting. As we were sitting outside waiting for our order, we watched 4 different groups of customers be served before us even though they called in way after us. (Note: we ordered 4 cups of ice cream- nothing crazy or time consuming.) We had picked up takeout for dinner & had the warm food in our car fully cognizant that this ice cream pick-up would talk 5 or so mins. (Now regretting it as our food was getting cold waiting for this order). As we calmly shared our frustration in the delay of our order, which we had already paid for, the manager was extremely rude & disrespectful to us- he was snappy & shouting with his frustration at us. Finally after 25 mins, he slammed our order down outside that had clearly been sitting ready inside the whole time. As we were walking away with our order, he made a face & shunned us away with his hand. We were very understanding that it may have been very stressful for him, especially during this time, but there was absolutely no reason for his uncalled rudeness, especially since we were so calm & polite to him. The service is quick and friendly! The girls have a good handle on the shop and have done a great job. I moved to Ridgewood about 6 years ago and was thrilled to find a Haagen Dazs in the area. However, as a regular customer I've noticed some problems with this particular location. The owners of the store do not treat their employees well, as I have both heard as general knowledge around town as well as by witnessing it myself. Too many times have I been kept waiting because the owners are scolding the girls to "hold the scoop properly" or weigh out the exact weight of the cup while they are trying to fill my order. I have stopped coming in during the daytime just to avoid these instances! The owner's daughter has carelessly shortchanged me countless times, once forgetting to give me 45 dollars in change (I paid with a 50) and was very rude to me when I asked for my money. All in all though, well kept shop, great location and extremely friendly staff. Other than my unpleasant experiences with the owners, I really do enjoy the fun and friendly atmosphere the staff add to the shop, as well as the quality product they offer. While I respect the owner's right to run their business as they please, I am sure that my daughter will not be applying for a job at Haagen Dazs when she is older. read more
