We arrived on a Friday around 12:30pm and it was fairly busy. Many of the tables were occupied. The lady at the register was helpful and patient with us as this was our first time. We ordered the chicken tenders, fries, cheese sauce, Italian Beef and Sausage sandwich with sweet peppers, onion rings, and chocolate cake shakes (a must I've heard). Everything was delicious! My husband's beef and sausage sandwich took a little bit of time because they were making it fresh which was much appreciated. The chicken strips were good too. I got the comeback sauce and the Giardiniera sauce and both were really good. The cheese sauce was hot and super tasty. The chocolate cake shakes were delicious. Mr. Black Fine came around to each table to ensure everything was going okay. We told him it was our first time at a Portillo's and he couldn't have been friendlier. He also came around with chocolate cake shake samples, which was awesome. This place is yummy and the vibes were awesome. Can't recommend this location more! I hope to be able to come back if we are ever in the Houston area again.

The biggest surprise was the chili. It was not very good, and had beans in it. I would give the dogs a C-. Next time (if there is one) I would try the burgers.

Personally, I waited to order (understandable), and waited far longer to pay with the line backup, however I did not wait at all for my food to arrive :) I went with my usual chicken tender combo. I personally love that their tenders are coated most similar to fish. Most importantly, the quality of the tenders are unmatched. My tenders were fresh, my fries were hot, and my ice cream cold. The only thing I would have appreciated is more candy in my Reese's mixer. I asked for double candy, double candy was noted on my receipt, but I did not receive double candy. In fact, I received only one lone Reese's chunk in today's mixer. The rest were the small chocolate slivers from the candy. Perhaps I visited too late in the evening and received the last of the mix-in? Slip ups happen and this location is closest to me personally. I'm sure I'll be back when the custard craving hits and I'm on this side of town.

I ordered a Mexican shrimp bowl with brown rice, lettuce, black beans, and pico de gallo. Unfortunately, the entire bowl was extremely salty, and the brown rice was very hard, which told me it was not fully cooked. I was very disappointed because I ordered it to go and was already on the road, hungry and expecting to eat while driving. Because of that, I was not able to return the food, request a refund, or have them correct the issue. It ended up being a waste of both money and time, especially considering there were plenty of other places nearby that I could have chosen instead. I do not recommend this location. The Cypress location has always been consistently good, so this was especially disappointing. I will not be stopping at the Katy location again because serving food like this to paying customers is unacceptable. To the owner, Otto: please check on your Katy location because your reputation is on the line.
