Went to Guy Anthony's on a Saturday, 7:30 pm reservation. The live music was getting started and we sat down right away. The waiter and bus boy were very attentive. I had chicken bruschetta which was great! There was a mistake in the order so they gave us scallops with squid ink pasta, the latter I had never tried. It was so delicious! I have been coming to Guy Anthony's for many many years. It used to be a small take-out joint across the street. They had coupons in the Pennysaver that were buy 1 meal, get 1 free. I was working the night shift at JFK and picked up dinner every week. I love their Chicken Piquante and that's what I return for, time after time. I stopped by last week-end after a long hiatus and sat right at the bar like I had never moved away. Guy asked me if I was still drinking Ketel Martinis and i smiled from ear to ear. Just left our 25th Wedding Anniversary party that was held here at "Guy Anthony's". This spot can mess up raviolis, who in their right mind puts cucumbers in raviolis. Dishes do not correlate to their actual recipes. And the staff were not attentive at all! Had to wait over an hour to pay to leave the building. Do not come here unless you want to have a bad time. read more

I had my daughters baby shower October 13th from 12-4, I can not express how accommodating Guy and the staff were!!!! The food was abundant and delicious! They were so helpful in my preparation from setting the tables with table runners for my decorations to making sure the fussiest of guests were satisfied and making sure we had everything we needed right down to trash bags for gift deris. I chose a sit down lunch with family style appetizers. My guests were remarking how the food kept coming and some had filled up on the appetizers opting to take their meal home. There is plenty of room for decorations, prop tables, cake and gift table as well as room to decorate on bar. They gave me pretty much free reign of the restaurant. I also loved it because it was private and intimate! to answer a few questions that were important to me I had a party of 55 how many tables and seating? 10-12 or 14-16 If your going to hang things bring suction cups. They will allow tape. They allow you in 1hour before event so be organized and have a working party with plenty of hands to help set up. Tried this place for the first time after wanting too for a few months now since I frequent Newbridge Inn which is right across the street. As I entered I was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance. Low light, a lovely live piano player and a pretty much full house and bar. I was immediately greeted and sat at the bar. I placed my order of gnocchi with shrimp in a penne vodka sauce. I ordered a glass of white wine while I waited which was pretty good. It was about a 20-25 minute wait. As soon as I got home and dug in I did not regret my decision. The gnocchi was pillows soft and the shrimp cooked perfectly. The star was the sauce. I am very particular when it comes to penne vodka and they nailed it. I will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes and dine in. read more

I gotta say that I am more impressed by this restaurant the more I go...a great local spot in the Merrick/Bellmore area that provides a really good atmosphere for date night. As soon as you walk in to the restaurant, you're warmly greeted with a smile by Guy. Sit at the bar and you're bound to become friends. Every meal we've had has been truly delicious!! I came here for a shower about a month ago. I ordered a seafood pasta that was on the pre fix menu, just like several other people at my table did that day. When the pasta came out, myself and my neighbor included, couldn't help but notice how off the coloring was of the seafood -- along with how bad the smell that was coming off of the pasta was. It looked like the clam and mussel shells were still dirty from the bay they were picked out of and left to rot for a couple of weeks. Needless to say, it was sent back and we ordered chicken parms to be safe. I would not come back here, and I can't believe the chef served rotten seafood and thought nothing of it. Poor quality. We had a Bridal Shower at Guy Anthony's recently, and it is a really cute, intimate restaurant (we had the entire place to ourselves) and the food overall was really very good. I do recommend it for private parties! My only complaints were about the staff. They weren't very attentive. It was a sunday afternoon and the guys were in the back talking (and texting!) and we had to go and ask them to bring out more drinks, water, coffee. They also forgot to serve the cake for dessert. They charged us anyway and gave it to us to take home - it was delicious but I would have preferred if our guests could have enjoyed it as well! read more

First and foremost, food is very good. The decor and atmosphere is quite nice with one exception. Both occassions that I've been there for dinner, the pianist is there playing and it is NON STOP. The piano is lovely at first when it's in the background. After a few songs, he should take a break and give people a chance to talk without any distraction. The music is way too loud and it makes it hard to hear the person across the table. He walks around to take requests which is nice, but he needs to take more breaks. After reading some of the reviews I was expecting so much more. Went there for Father's Day and there were only 2 tables of patrons, not a good sign. Calamari app was pretty good, big portion. My fiance got a personal pizza, merely OK. I got chicken parm, I have had much better. The breading was falling off the chicken as I was cutting it and was pretty bland. My son got ravioli a la vodka and my daughter got penne a la vodka, they said it was good. For dessert I got the triffle, was actually kind of flavorless. My fiance got double chocolate gelato, not good at all. They put chocolate powder in it which gives it a gritty, odd taste- bad idea. I'd give it more like 2.5 stars and doubt I'll be back. read more

Pretty, pretty, pretty good. I like the piano guy that comes around and asks you what you want to hear. Then he plays it. All while you're eating your dinner. That's cooll! I had the linguine and clams. Not great. A bit salty. I'm sure some people would like it more that I did. My family had some of the eggplant dishes and the chicken parm type stuff. They were all happy, and I was envious. If you're from LI and like that type of food, you'll like this place. Good service, the food came out quick, and the ambiance was nice. Parking is OK. The restaurant is attractive looking. Four of us dined with a $25 off coupon. The other couple ordered Eggplant and Shrimp Parmigiana; they were quite happy with their selection, thus the two stars. I ordered the Chicken Florentino and my partner ordered Chicken Marsala. I was served a small piece of dry, paper-thin chicken, 5 bite-sized pieces to be exact, covered by a large, thin slice of of dry eggplant topped with cheese. I must say, the presentation was attractive. (It was then I found the dry piece of chicken hidden under the eggplant.) My partner found the Chicken Marsala serving to be dry, thin-sliced and not particularly good. Adding insult to injury, the linguine was served in a dark, red "gravy" that was old and bitter tasting; the heartburn later was unimaginable. The wait staff seemed numerous and adequately attentive. The musicians who supplied music from 40's and 50's were wonderful, not so all of the young singers who performed. The venue was small and intimate; the music loud, mainly because some of the singers equated loud with good and held the microphone "too close for comfort" and ended their numbers on a final screech! (We shuddered inwardly.) I particularly enjoyed the singer who sang "Let it sneoo (snow), let it sneoo (snow), let it sneoo". (I thought perhaps she was German which would account for the pronunciation.) For me this was perhaps the most enjoyable and memorable part of the evening. I have been going to this establishment for over 6 years. I have ALWAYS gotten a good meal and treated great. Very KID friendly and whats great is both owners cook your food. I would say TOP NOTCH for Guy Anthony's. I have had two family parties of over 50 there and each one was better than the other!! The wine selection is also great!! This past past weekend we had my sister's baby shower at Guy Anthony's. It was an event we will not forget. The staff was very welcoming from the day we booked the event up until the last guest left. The food was excellent. They were very accommodating, we had the restaurant as an exclusive event. It was a perfect private party. Just the right size. The guests were all extremely pleased. The feed back from the guests was nothing but being extremely pleased. They loved it. The shower moved along very smoothly and the price was right. But what really made the day was my sister was surprised and everyone enjoyed themselves. The food here is nothing more than edible but don't get me wrong... Even the small redeeming quality of that is thrown out the window when coupled Guy Anthony's painfully slow and abrasive staff. If you'd like to dine here, take my advice, don't spring for dessert or soup; they're both exorbitantly expensive for the canned or frozen, store bought product you will receive. And definitely don't use the ladies bathroom, the used razors just hangin out on the shelf will make you lose your appetite. This little restaurant is an absolute neighborhood gem. The owners are always there and they put their heart and soul into their food preparation and service. We eat out a lot and this is one of my favorite restaurants. On Thursday and Saturday nights they have piano music which is really delightful.
