Called Gutterman with about 30K in work that needed to be done...the sales staff there really blew it. Everything was a cheap sales pitch..."used car salesmen" type of sales pitch. No one actually listened, they just pushed their agenda. It seemed as if they were pushing other products, colors, etc. because they would get a higher commissions on these lesser used items no matter how much we said we didn't want it. Example: Told the salesman we needed Hardie panels in a certain color and the trim in a certain color. Anything else requires HOA approval...we did not want to deal with the HOA. He told us us James Hardie no longer makes our color and wouldn't stop pitching a certain color and a completely different trim...said he couldn't match our trim. In his book of samples was the exact same color trim from the exact manufacturer but he kept saying "no", its not exact and went back to pushing the other color. Fact checked his statement with several other companies and everyone one of them said our color is one of the most common colors used and produced by manufacturer and they could order it same day. The trim was also available in the color samples he provided and in multiple textures, depending on our preference. I would recommend trying out other companies long before you give these guys a call...you can never trust a company that is only interested in their own agenda to do right by you. read more

I asked this company for an estimate for gutter and facia board work. A very pleasant and professional gentleman (the estimator) arrived, spent a lot of time answering my questions, inspected my roof, took measurements, and then gave me a cost estimate on the spot. I insisted that I could not wait a month for the work to be completed. He talked to his supervisor, Harold, by telephone, as to whether or not the work could be completed sooner. I was asked how soon did I need it, and I said within two weeks. I signed the contract and the work completion start date was written on it. The day for work arrived and nobody showed up. I called the estimator to ask what had happened. He said he would find out and call me back. Nothing happened. The following day I called the estimator again and he suggested I call the head office. I did so. I was given the following excuses by Sarah for the work not being started. First, the weather can be a factor. However, the weather was fine for the work days scheduled. Second, they have a backlog. I said I knew about the backlog but made special arrangements to get the work started sooner. Third, nobody had yet made a follow-up visit to do additional measurements. I told her that the measurements done by the estimator seemed very thorough to me. Fourth, she told me she had no record of a work early start date. I told her I saw the estimator write it on the contract. This company is one of the Arlington County's 2016 "Best Picks" for gutter and related work. However, my experience with them was not rosy. Last Tuesday Chris called and said he wanted to come and check to make sure that everything was indeed done correctly. He came by to check on things. He apologized for all the issues we had. Then he checked on the final installation. He found that one thing needed to be corrected. He told me I should hear back from Gutterman soon. I got a call and email on Monday saying they would come Thursday. I did not to be there for the work to be done. The work got finished on Thursday. It's rare that the president of a company will admit to a few shortcomings that I dealt with. He seemed genuinely concerned and aplogetic. And I honestly believe he meant it. If everything had been done the 1st time I would have given 5 stars. So I feel comfortable with this 4 star. Chris seems to be a stand up guy, and I appreciate his time in valuing me as a customer. read more

I say family business because Chris has some family members literally working with him and he treats his team like family. The company came out in September 2017 to replace damaged gutters and repair damaged window screens due to a storm. One of the screens that was repaired has already come undone. I have called numerous times only to get return calls that they will be coming out to install gutter screens. I already have gutter screens. Twice I have sent an email back clarifying that it is a WINDOW SCREEN that needs to be repaired. I didn't ask about gutter screens. I even sent the receipt showing the repair that they did for the window screens. If you try to call them, you get a busy signal. My neighbors referred me to Gutterman, but I will not refer them to anyone else in the neighborhood. read more

Had mesh gutter guards installed a few years against and was pleased with them, so I wanted them to perform a gutter cleaning back in May. I had to call and reschedule several times because they never showed up when they said they would. A month a half later of rescheduling and no explanations, I finally had to call and cancel service request. Very disappointing. read more

We contacted Gutterman Services the first week of May to clean our gutters. After not hearing from a scheduler I contacted the company last week to follow up. The lady on the phone said that she would have a scheduler contact me immediately and apologized for the delay. I never received a call and the gutter cleaning never occurred. I called again today and cancelled my request for the company to come out. It was explained to me that they have been busier then normal. When this occurs, they should contact clients who are waiting for a cleaning to say they don't have the resources to get the job done timely or at least tell them they have not been forgotten. I just had several windows and a sliding glass door replaced by Kevin and his partner at Gutterman. They took their time and did a fantastic job with the installation. I was worried there would be a lot of inside cleaning, patching, painting and trim work to deal with after the installation, but that was not the case. The inside and outside of my house were left clean and in great condition. I also got a walk-through of the window features and instructions on how to adjust the tension on the sliding glass door, if I ever need to change it. One day after the installation, I received my final invoice. There were no surprises - it was the exact amount they quoted me in April. Fantastic! The delivery took a little longer than their initial estimate of 6-8 weeks, but I was told that would probably be the case since they had a lot of jobs on the schedule and delays due to weather. Because they told us about the delay, it wasn't an issue. I called the office to check on the order status a few times and the folks on the phone were always friendly and helpful. This is the third project I've used Gutterman for in the last three years - the other two projects were replacing our old gutters with covered, larger gutters and power washing the house (they even did a roof inspection during the power washing). Everyone I've dealt with at the company has been professional and friendly and their work is top-notch. read more

Set-up my appointment to have my gutters cleaned and checked (I believed there was an issue with one of them in the back) through Gabby. She was very professional and she scheduled my appointment promptly. Shortly thereafter, they cleaned my gutters while I wasn't home and checked my gutters (one of which was a problem). I got an estimate which I felt was fair and decided to have them do the work. Once again, I scheduled my appointment through Gabby who got someone out there right away and it was fixed (no further issues). I really appreciated Gabby's pleasant demeanor and wanted to see if Gutterman could give me a visual inspection and estimate (if needed) for a new roof. I scheduled an appointment once again through Gabby (of course) and Jorge was there before I knew it. It was raining the day he arrived so he couldn't walk on the roof but he did crawl into my attic (no small feat) and said he believed the roof was physically sound but was most likely the original roof (circa the early 90's). He provided me with a quote and has followed up a couple times to gauge my interest in moving ahead. I haven't felt pressured by Jorge and I'm in the middle of refinancing a home equity loan to pay for a roof, and some other home improvements. Very happy with my experience with Gutterman! read more

Gutterman rocks!! The roof of my 3 story townhome was leaking for several months and leaked into our master bedroom damaging the ceiling and walls. We brought several contractors out and received several possible causes for the leak. Kevin and Chris from Gutterman came out and brought a few guys on the roof and after discussing the issue, they came up with the right course of action to address the problem. Once there was a break int he weather, I was called and told the team would be at my house the next day. The roof was fixed quickly and came in under the original estimate. The next day the inside guys arrived to fix the damage the leak caused. Great care was taken to ensure all furniture was moved and covered. The team meticulously opened the walls and ceiling to inspect for any mold issues and explained what was being done each step. The job was done in 2 days and you can not tell any work was done. I called them to get an estimated on repairing/replacing gutters on an old home. The lady Sherry came out.. kept me there for 2 hours. It seemed she was making a detailed plan. Weeks later, after emailing her I sort of get an estimate. She told me to email her my authorization to begin...then nothing for weeks. Now this started in October...Finally in December I hear from someone and they say they will get this done.. weeks go by again. Then they have the nerve to call me to see if we could get this done. Reluctantly, I said go ahead .. AGAIN. Finally in January.. they did the job. The job was done fine. I received the invoice the following week, I call to tell the rep that I will be paying it by the end of the week. I get a call a few days later from a billing rep asking when I was going to pay it. I mean.. no one in this company works together. They have no idea what the other is doing. I will not be calling them to do any work again. So stressful! read more

High quality work for less money. We asked for quotes from other companies and Gutterman used higher quality materials and were less expensive than the other companies. That should be enough reason to use them but there's more. The president of the company, Chris Pauly, was personally involved with the entire process. Larry Bowersox is the salesman and as nice and as patient as could be and was very knowledgeable and guided us through the choices we needed to make. He also worked with our insurance company to help us get as much reimbursement as possible. The work went as planned and finished within 2 days. We had to replace our skylights and the new ones are gorgeous! Kevin Poole did the inside trim on the skylights and he is meticlous and also a nice guy. Gutterman did some work on our 55-year-old house, which included installing a much-needed metal drip pan along the front gutter, tearing out and replacing rotting plywood on the roof and putting back any roof tiles that were either missing or needed to be replaced after said work. They also removed old, unsightly downspouts and put in new, better-looking ones and repositioned them to "hide" them. Everything turned out great, the crew was professional and Jorge Rodriquez, the Gutterman rep who oversaw the project, was pleasant, incredibly patient with my myriad of questions and thorough. We initially received and estimate for a complete roof replacement, but then made the decision to move. Per the home inspection, we needed to do several repairs to the roof, replace the rake boards, gutters and fascia, and repair and wrap the dormer windows. Even though our buyer initially approved the repair to take place after closing, she later decided that wasn't going to work for her, so Jorge and his team performed a miracle and worked us in to their very busy schedule. They went above and beyond to provide the buyer with all the documentation and photos she requested. I contacted Gutterman Services at the end of March 2018 to get an estimate on some wind damage that I had to the home. A piece of siding had come off during the heavy wind storms we experienced during the late winter/early spring. In addition, I had a window that needed replaced after being struck and cracked. After more than a week, someone was able to come out, give the estimate. Some time (less than a week) went by, an estimate was received, I accepted it and signed the contract. After a period of time and no one showing up to complete the work, I called to ask what the hold up was and was told that they had a lot of work due to other damage in the area from the winds. I understand that but I don't accept it as an excuse. Eventually someone showed up out of the blue, replaced the piece of siding - no phone call or notification that anyone was coming too do that part of the work, I just happened to notice that it had been done one day. A number of weeks went by, the window still had not been replaced, so I kept in email contact and kept asking when it would be replaced. Finally in May (yes, nearly 2 months after the initial contact with the company) someone called and said they would be out to install the window. Well they did however it was the incorrect window, which is still installed to this day. I received a statement in late July stating the work had been completed that I need to submit the payment. I called the company and told them the work was not completed and that I was not going to pay until the correct window was installed. The young lady was very polite, professional and concurred by telling me to ignore the statement, which I have done. I have been waiting since late July for someone to contact me to set up a time to install the correct window and until this day, (Sept 22nd 2018) no one has contacted me. On Monday, September 17th, I emailed the general manager letting her know my displeasure with the situation and asking for it to be resolved, I have yet to hear back from her. I would not recommend this company based on my experience with them. If they ever come out to install the correct window, I will never use them again! I should mention that everytime I tried to set up a time to get the correct window installed, there was always an excuse for why they couldn't make it out that day including the fact that one of their technicians was in an accident and texted me to say he needed to reschedule because of it, but I never heard from him again! read more

I feel scammed by Gutterman. I ordered a Groupon worth $150. Their estimate to powerwash and re-seal a deck was exactly twice what I had paid for the exact same sevices form another comparable company. I then requested an estimate on an entirely diffferent and much smaller powerwashing job instead. Miraculously, having someone come powerwash half a cement porch (I live in a duplex) and a short walkway was going to be $250. Outrageous. And I was not provided with any written explanation of their pricing. I feel like they just needed to get some payment out of me to make it worth their while. read more

These guys are awesome. With the heavy rains last week, I had water coming into my home and I had no idea what to do. I called them and they had someone out the same day to look at my gutters. Turns out, I had a clogged gutter (who knew you could get stuff in your gutters even if you don't have trees around!) The office staff was courteous and professional, and the guys that came out were great. I know they do this for a living, but I sure wouldn't want to get up on a ladder 3 stories in the air. We just had Gutterman finish a big job for us. They replaced the entire roof, gutters, downspouts, soffits, covered all the trim with an aluminum wrap, and sanded and repainted our deck. We were happy with the project from start to finish. First of all, our sales person, Jorge did an amazing job up front. He spent several hours with me on the first visit. Despite the frigid weather, he walked the roof and took pictures to help explain the condition it was in. He went through all the options with me and even talked me out of purchasing the more expensive covered gutters (something I thought I wanted) because he said they would not work well in our situation. He stopped by a few days later to bring me additional material samples and answer questions that arose after I got quotes from another group. He was very respectful and never gave me the impression that he thought he should be talking to my husband instead of me (an annoyance I've had with many contractors). The project was completed much quicker than originally anticipated and we didn't get much notice prior to the start. But that is something I expect when dealing with weather dependent work. The office called several times to update me as to when they planned to be back and what I could expect. A special thanks to Raul who got the project off to a good start and Kevin for making sure everything was done right and tying up all the little loose ends. While the installation of my Gutterman K-Guard gutters went great, I now have learned that they do not come with a performance warranty! IMAGINE THAT! They are only warrantied against clogging. Confused? My gutters were installed in June, 2017, just 14 months ago. Now the one in the back does not work due to tree droppings that stick to the cover of the gutter. Not surprisingly, the salesman never talked about that! Now the gutters in the back do not direct the water to the downspout. Instead, the water just overflows across the gutter cover and also appears to leak between the gutter and the fascia board to which the gutter is attached! The warranty says they will not clog. However, THERE IS NO PERFORMANCE WARRANTY that covers you against overflow! And I bought the large gutter system! So I won't have to pay to have leaves cleared out. I will have to plan to pay for them to be power washed, probably annually at least. So while you may think you will be saving money by never needing to have leaves cleaned from your gutter, you will likely have to pay regularly for surface cleaning of the cover. This is not what I was expecting. I would suggest to see if they will give you a performance warranty. And not just Gutterman but any company that is selling gutters with covers. If they won't, then make sure you discuss costs to clean your new gutters. read more

I contracted Gutterman to do some work on my gutters. 3 weeks passed without so much as a call to discuss scheduling. My own 3-4 calls were met with promises to get a call back, and NONE of the calls were returned. Well over a month later the work was done without issue with the workmanship, but if this is how they treat their customers, I won't be back. read more

We had a horrible experience with Gutterman Services. We have been lied to, ignored, treated rudely and had sub-standard work performed on our house and had a great deal of personal property damage done by the work crews. We were repeatedly told that the work would be performed on consecutive days and was supposed to be completed by Wednesday, July 11. The contract signed states work will be done within 7 days. Work was started on July 10 and the bulk was not finished until August 11, with a minor item still outstanding as of today, August 21. Gutterman canceled 3 scheduled dates to repair work done incorrectly, only one of which was due to weather. Below you will find a list of the areas that Gutterman agreed had deficient work performed but refused to come and remedy in a timely manner: Property damage--The Gutterman crew created a great deal of personal property damage to our home. They left a gaping hole in the roof of our gazebo and attempted to tie the pieces together with a piece of trim cap they were using to cap our door surround material. Most upsetting is that when we arrived home and walked around the house with one of the crew he did not bother to mention this. They also left numerous scratches on our outdoor heat pump. Additionally, there were numerous items broken within our home that were on the wall that was having siding placed on it outside. During the walk-through and at no other time was it ever mentioned that we needed to be concerned about any of our personal property, including the gazebo in our backyard or any of the items in our house on, or close to, the wall that the siding would be placed on. Gutterman provided compensation for some of the items, but not all, nor did they apologize or provide compensation for the time it took to clean, repair and replace the items they damaged or destroyed. Back door--A wrong door was ordered and no one bothered to check this before starting work and ripping out our current door and threshold so that it could not be replaced. The new door was supposed to have gridlines and a doggy door but the one they ordered had neither. We asked for them to cut in a dog door to this door while they ordered the correct door and both my husband and I were told individually by a Gutterman employee that it was a steel door and there was no possible way to cut into it. I told this Gutterman employee that something must be done as we could not wait weeks for a dog door and that same employee then ordered the crew to cut into the door. He blatantly lied to us that he couldn't cut into the door because he didn't want to, and I don't believe lying to a customer is ever acceptable. The correct door was supposedly put on rush order to arrive no later than July 24, but this door was not installed until August 11. The siding crew that was supposed to show up on July 10, then rescheduled to July 11 did not show up until July 13. I was at home all day on the 11th waiting for the crew and never received notification via phone or email and neither my or my husband's numerous calls were returned until around 6pm. Additionally the back of the house where the door crew had pulled away siding on July 10 to install the door left the house exposed. We were never comfortable with this but the door crew assured us that the siding crew would be there on the 11th. They were not, and it rained very hard that night. We are still concerned if damage was caused by this water and if the damage will show itself months or years down the line. Additionally, the install crew didn't seal all of the door seams. Front door-On Friday July 13 the door surround was worked on but the crew capped the header in a color we did not order and one that was different than the rest of the door making it look ridiculous. I have an email to Gutterman detailing the correct color scheme that was not followed. Also the trim cap at the top of the header had an unsightly seam right through the middle of it which Gutterman agreed to fix during a meeting on July 17 but that was not corrected until August 11. Lastly, the threshold and side were improperly caulked. Siding-Our contract included replacing the siding on the back of our home and the siding on the right side of the house. During our initial consultation, the salesman noted an area at the top where he was sure wood rot was the reason the trim cap on the rake board had pulled away. The board was completely exposed and black and we agreed to pay to replace it and it was part of our contract. We asked the siding crew about it on Friday, July 17th when they had been there working on our house when we were not home and they admitted that they did not replace it even though the contract stated it was to be replaced and we were being charged for it. On August 11 Gutterman came back and removed the siding and capping and admitted the board should have been replaced and replaced it. read more

We recently bought our first home and during the home inspection the inspector pointed out that the gutters were pulling away from the house, etc. Come to find out they hadn't been serviced in 3+ years.. We called Gutterman and they charged for a normal gutter cleaning, reattached the gutter jutting out while they were here, all while we didn't even need to be home for this. Love my new roof and gutters. Wonderful personal service beyond comparison. In the age of automated phone systems and emails it was refreshing to be with a company that treats their customers as family with care and consideration. First I have to say, I contacted at least 4 other contractors who said they would call back or would email me an estamint. Only 1 other actually did . With that said before the job started Hurricane Sandy swept through an left me with 1 small roof leak. I called to see when the materials would be in and when the projected start date was as I had a small leak. She said the project manager would give me a courtesy call. Yeah, right, I thought but, by 3 pm that day the project manager was at my door ladder in hand and patched the leak. At 5pm the nice young lady called to make sure the project manager had called. WOW. The next week work started for 5 days hammers were banging from sunrise to after sunset. As far as I could tell, some of the workers didn't even take a lunch break. I've used them for gutter cleaning for years and they are hands down the best in the area. They have a service contract program that you can sign up for, which I would recommend to anyone. You just sign up and they automatically schedule your gutter cleaning for however many times you want per year. The best part - there is NO $ due up front - you only pay when they do the work! You also don't have to remember to call them, they call you when it is time for your gutters to be cleaned. As a mother of 3 young kids, I tend to forget about things like that (at least until it becomes a problem). Bottom line - great company, great people, great service! read more

My sister had her gutters done a few years ago, called to have them checked due to the sheets of water coming off the second story roof, was told I would be contacted the day before an inspection. That 3 1/2 weeks ago. I had someone who knows what they're doing up there tell me they weren't installed properly leading to a build-up of dirt etc causing the water to bypass the entire gutter. The customer service is horrible. Also, they won't honor the guarantee if the OUTSIDE of the gutters are dirty, which they are due to their ineptness. FYI read more

Chris acted as a consultant, not just a contractor and not only completed the work on time but recommended many small aesthetic changes that made a big difference with the curb appeal of my home. He took a great deal of time to ensure that the end product would be one that we are both satisfied with and greatly improved the energy efficiency and comfort of the home with upgraded insulation and home wrapping products.
