My parents cruel and traumatizing experience with the owner & staff of this restaurant: First they told my parents the wait was 30 minutes so they went and walked around the town & came up when the 30 minutes were up. They were told to wait longer so they went to the bar & my dad asked for a beer. They again waited for 30 more minutes. By that time they were very hungry & asked the bartender for an appetizer. Incredibly rude, the bar tender told them they couldn't order an appetizer if they were waiting for a table. My parents ensured they would close out & pay the bartender when their table came but the bartender refused to serve them if they were waiting for a table. He spoke to them in an incredibly condescending tone making my parents feel like children. Finally after my parents got a seat, the owner came & threatened to call the cops if they didn't leave. Utterly shocked, my mom refused to leave until they could give her a single reason. They didn't give her one and immediately called the cops on them. My mom called me traumatized as she explained the details not understanding why that happened to them. My parents love going to Dahlonega but this completely shocked them. My heart breaks for them, this should not happen to absolutely anyone. The only other reason that comes up is race. We are Colombian and my parents both have Spanish accents. I wish this wasn't the case but given the owner's inability to tell them a single thing they did (because they didn't do anything at all), race is the only answer. My heart hurts that anyone would ever treat my family like this. If they did it to my parents I am positive it will happen again. read more

Absolutely the rudest mgt and serving team I have experienced anywhere in Georgia. Allowed people to stand outside in the cold, while employees waved and laughed as people waiting outside. The server was a pleasant girl but the food was Horrible. The worst Pizza I have tasted since buying Frozen Pizza at Publix. I am surprised anyone in Mgt or in the Kitchen is still employed. Telling all our Roswell, Alpharetta and local wineries to stay away from Gustavos. Go to Spirits instead! read more

This place is a joke. It's been a year since my last review, and it's worse now. Family wanted pizza, restaurant is open, and they are not sitting anyone. The hostess was rude, insulting, and a smart mouth. If the city has any dignity they would shut the place down and allow a decent place to come in. Do not support this place and help it go out of business!!!! read more

We just moved to the area and have decided to try to eat locally and tonight we wanted Italian and tried this place. Tyler was our server and he was amazing, he was very helpful and insightful on the menu and helped us pick dinner. The food was great and I feel like it was well priced, not to mention it was delicious.! I will definitely be back. I would look past the bad reviews and give this place a try! read more

Well, we were told to "get that baby out of my bar" (she is 8 months old). Of course, 3 out of 6 adults had already ordered drinks, and 1 had ordered food. Needless to say, when that happened, we canceled the food order ( the sweet waitress said well they've already put it in the oven) to which we reponded thats on him he asked us to leave and we are. We paid for our drinks and left. read more

We've tried to come and eat at this place multiple times, but because of the times they are opened it was difficult. Today was finally our day to taste the pizza or food from this well known restaurant. The waitress was excellent. We typically like to let our waitresses pick our drinks and she did a wonderful job doing so, but when we got our check, I noticed there was a liquor tax. I asked about because I've never had liquor tax before. The owner seemed to not believe it or maybe he was tired, but we were asked never to return , not because we were mean or belligerent, but because of a simple question. We will never return. The pizza was good, not the best pizza I've ever had, but because of the owner and his terrible attitude, especially toward the person who is hearing impaired I will definitely never return! I'll go to the other restaurants in the area when we visit. I know one customer doesn't mean anything because well there's hundreds more but this warranted a review read more

Every time we come here, the staff is amazing, and accommodating. The manager Jenny is and server Eden were absolutely exemplary tonight! Also the wonderful bartender Christian was crushing while completely slammed, great old fashion! So glad we make this a biweekly or weekly spot. Can't say I love this place anymore than I do! MERRY CHRISTMAS! read more

We liked their food so much we ate there twice in a 3-day stay in Dahlonega. The pizza was excellent, as was the spring salad. Could have eaten the philly steak sandwich every day. Have to agree with other reviews that mentioned a disinterested staff. Both times, the greeters made us feel like we should go elsewhere. No greeting. No smiles. Our server was equally disinterested. If you can put up with nasty attitudes but like good food, eat there. read more

We called around 5:15 and asked what to do if we wanted to pick up 2 pizzas around 6:45. They said to call back in a half hour and order our pizzas so we did and when we called back they said they were no longer accepting carry out orders. I asked them to make an exception since they were the ones who advised we wait a while. The hostess taking our call asked the actual owner who said there would be no exceptions. Real bummer since we leave dahlonega tomorrow morning and we won't get another chance to try the food. read more

The employees were all super rude, including the manager. The food was mediocre at best. I will never be back.

I seriously don't know why this has such a low star rating. They were short staffed and could not take online orders so had to eat in house. My salad was delicious (house salad) and my kitchen sink pizza was DELICIOUS, thin crust perfectly cooked just enough sauce and the flavors of the sausages and pepperonis and veggies was perfect. Seriously the pizza was the bomb!!!! I review a lot for yelp and definitely the star rating should be 4-5 star for sure!!!!Atmosphere is casual and a bit loud but i'd expect this from pizza place. read more

Not sure why they only have 3 stars. I strongly suggest the fried ziti bites for an appetizer (thank me later) and we had pizza with pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms and onions. Delicious! Service was welcoming and unobtrusive, prices were reasonable. read more

Families aren't welcome here. We were told they no longer have high-chairs as of a few weeks ago.

I went to Gustavo's yesterday and it was the first time I had it, I was very disappointed in the food first I ordered the garlic rolls when they brought them out i don't know if it was the grease or butter they were sitting in but it wasn't nasty and bland. I also ordered a pizza and I have to tell you it was not good I didn't even eat the first slice of pizza I would never come back to Gustavo's it was the worst $45 I have ever spent. read more

The pizza there was very good. I would definitely recommend the pizza. The garlic rolls weren't that good but I still liked them. And the food was undercooked and we had to send it back so they could finish cooking it. We sent it back a second time and it was still undercooked. At least our server was very nice. read more

I'm sure getting seated is a big issue in busy seasons. It was not a problem on a Saturday night at the end of February. Probably the liveliest place in town at this point. It's good to notice that this is a college town (19,000 students at all campuses) so it's not just the tourists (that are common all year with Atlanta's bored 7 million looking for something to do on a weekend). Pizzas are huge. The one with pesto was great, though not sure why they thought it needed to be chicken. And the chicken was a little tough for a pizza topping. So also the house salad, a sort of Greek or Italian with feta, black olives, etc. It was quite good and plenty of it. read more

A tourist town lunch stop. I had the caprese BLT and side salad. 5 Star sandwich! The bread made the sandwich. Grilled bread with olive oil. Server Jillian was attentive and came by several times to check on us. There were 4 of us who all had sandwiches for lunch. Fast service. read more

Came in late and found food and service great. We sat at the bar and ordered the kitchen sink pizza with all the olives on one side. I took the bartender's recommended beer selection which paired very well with the pizza. I also ordered a side of the spicy marinara to dip the pie in. I'd recommend this place to anyone. read more

Only eaten here for lunch. Pizza. Reminded me more of a college town bar scene than an eatery. The pizza wasn't anything special, nor was the service. read more

So it was a busy Saturday at about 1 pm and had a 45 minute wait for a table so decided to sit at the bar. Ordered a couple of beers and everything was going fine than I noticed something the Bar tender was doing with the glasses after people left. There was a triple sink that the bar tender dipped the glass in first and than quickly through the other two and let air dry for a few minutes. So this process doesn't remove lip stick and other things but luckily he did hold the glass up to the light to take a napkin to wipe the rim off. I know the first sink had some type of sanitizer in it but come on! Every bar I've gone to has a glass washing machine to truly sanitize the glasses. Not sure how this process is acceptable! read more

Service was great, even on Memorial Day weekend. The garlic rolls had good texture, but were uneven in size and a bit bland (nothing some table salt couldn't fix). The Vegetarian Pizza had a nice, crispy crust and was very large (could feed 3-4). Overall, an unassuming joint that fits the bill while out and about. read more

Came in for a bite to eat after going to the Falls. The hostess sat us right next to the door with a pretty empty restaurant. Was not a fan but no biggy. Our hostess was pretty stand offish... Maybe just a bad day for the restaurant overall. I ordered the kitchen sink pizza. It was not that great. I was planning on just getting a slice. It was not an option, you have to order a whole pizza. Overall not a great experience and I prob won't come back. read more

Is it Monday are they open? Is it Tuesday are they open? Is it Wednesday are they open? Is it Thursday are they open? Is it Friday are they open? Is it Saturday are they open? Is it Sunday are they open? It doesn't matter what anything on the web or phone says, they are just randomly open or closed. We were really impressed! After going Christmas tree hunting on Sunday, we were looking for a family dinner place on the way through Dahlonega and saw Gustavo's. It's new - in a building on the square that, for all of my childhood, housed a huge antiques store - so I was curious to go in! It was a Sunday evening and the place was fairly quiet, although I could see it being crazy on a Friday or Saturday, crawling with college kids from NGCSU which is right across the street. It is decorated in pretty typical pizza bar fashion, football I some big screen tv's and there is a large bar in the center. My one complaint would be that, for all the tables, they had one individual bathroom, so getting a turn takes a while! They had an interesting selection of bottled beers and beers on draft. Much better than I was expecting! My husband had a frosty glass of Rare Vos, a rare treat straight from the tap! We devoured the Gouda waffle fries for an appetizer and the cheesy, bacon-y fries were really delicious with the tangy, spicy jalapeño sauce! There were just two sizes of pizza. An 8 inch from the kids menu - for a kid's size that is quite generous! - and the 16 inch large pizza. Because we were feeding three from the big one, getting a large didn't bother us, but I could see a small party finding that irritating, not having size options. I wonder, if you were eating alone- if you could get away with ordering the kids meal? We had the Noah's Ark pizza, the "all of the meats" option, and it was impressively good! Really one of the best pizzas I've had in a hundred mile radius! Flavorful meats, generously sprinkled, a great marinara and a very nice crust, thin, but not too thin with an actual flavor. It was a perfect, definitely not bland, base for the toppings. With many pizzas it's the crust that leaves me cold, but this one was yummy! The sausage and Italian meatballs were my fave toppings. Their texture and flavor were wonderful. Portions were good. Between the kid's pizza and the large, for two adults and two hungry kiddos, we left with two slices in a to-go box. I was thrilled to find them still in the fridge last night and ate them for dinner again. Three days later, still delicious! read more

Of all things culinary, I'd assume it would be difficult to really mess up with Italian. That doesn't meant to say it's easy to make it great, but honestly, these guys at Gustavo's have to be trying to make it as bad as it was. Let's start with a half empty restaurant, with several tables available, and a ten minute wait! I guess they were trying to decompress the kitchen on a Saturday evening. Ok, fast forward, now we are seated and my 48-year-old friend gets carded to order a beer. Really? So, beers ordered along with some cheese rolls, marinara and loaded fries. The loaded fries were a hit; that's about it. The cheese rolls were served in an aluminum pan and were stuck to the bottom. I ordered baked ziti with extra cheese and meatballs. Got neither, just plain baked ziti. Oh and yeah, it took almost 30-minutes for the food to be served after we had the appetizers. I was too frustrated to send it back. A couple of the guys had the veggie calzones, which were under-cooked and very doughy. Waitress was ok, but could not overcome the delays and poor quality of food. Two stars and trust, I am being generous. read more

Outstanding Customer Service! So friendly, they made us feel right at home! If you are in the mood for Italian food we highly recommend.

Stopped in for dinner tonight 7:45. Told us we could not come in for dinner. I was amazed. We will not return.

We ordered a margarita pizza and when it arrived it was a slab of cheese on a soggy crust. Our server (who was really very nice) explained that their margarita pizza has shredded mozzarella on top of the fresh mozzarella. She got us another one and it was made properly but the crust was still not good. The sauce was good but the crust had that overworked flour taste. We won't be back. read more

I was kind of bummed we didn't have a rude bartender encounter. The bartender today was actually very pleasant. The staff in general was very accommodating. My only issue was the food. The pizza had potential but missed the mark. Half the pizza had a ton of cheese and the other half had the perfect amount. The crust was way to thick for my liking. I bet they can churn out a good pizza though-I just didn't experience that today read more

Chicken Parmesan was burned. Alfredo doesn't taste like Alfredo. Enjoyed the garlic rolls. $65 and it was just not good. Won't be back.

Has improved tremendously over the last couple of years. Much better service. More consistently good food. Love the salads; one is big enough for 2 people. Pizza is just how I like it -- thicker crust. Many choices for toppings. Calzones and other Italian dishes are also available. Full bar with attentive servers. Great beer selection. Live music occasionally. A few TVs for sporting events. Parking in front and on the square. read more

The worse customer service. Table for 2 has to wait more than table for a bigger group. Ridiculous Requested table for 2 they said 30min wait. 30min passed when I noticed people that arrived later than us were called I went to ask the status and they said I had first 2 people ahead of me then when I went again, They said 4 people ahead of us that we had to wait 30 min more. I requested to speak with a mgr and she was useless. Now I know why they only have 3 stars. I feel sorry for the owner of this restaurant, having a manager in a business that doesn't have a bit of customer service experience. read more

I needed to take pizzas to a gathering and they weren't taking carry out orders! Sad.

Ordered a salad and linguini and meatball for lunch. After 20 min. wait at lunch, the pasta comes out with no meatball. I asked the waiter, where's the meat (ball). Were out. You want a piece of chicken? What? I wanted a meatball. So, things only got worse from there. Appears they have also changed their sauce and not for the better. read more

Rude people work here!!! There is a small area with a covered table in front. I stepped in to get out of the rain. The cook rudely banged on the window and rudely gestured for us to leave.
