Went there for the first time and wasn't impressed. The service was good and the staff were friendly but the quality of the food needs definitely improvement. I understand that groceries are expensive but a salmon croquette should taste a little bit like salmon and a jaeger schnitzel shouldn't be dried inside and basically have no flavor. Since it was served on the dry side I asked for more gravy and was told it was $8 for gravy. There were 4 of us dining and we each had a couple of alcohol beverages as well as apps yet they didn't allow for extra gravy? I'm calling this place a one and done. Came on a Sunday around 4. We waited in the yard area for our table for 6. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful view. We ordered stuffed mushrooms and fried artichokes, both incredible. Then I had the pork schnitzel hubby had goulash. The food was terrific and the service Taylor provided was on point. For drinks I had a hot cider with fireball and then the prickly pear margarita. Went here years ago, didn't impress us. Received a gift card so we went again. Limited wine and beer offerings. We got there right at opening so it was not busy at all. Server was attentive and answered questions. We ordered stuffed mushrooms that were bland and a bit dry. No bread so we ordered a pretzel with mustard that was really a pretzel roll. 3 of us had the slow cooked beef ribs and 1 had monkfish special. None of us were impressed what the preparation, or quality. The monkfish was dry and tasteless. The ribs were ok but the food was not hot. Located near Apple greens golf course , this absolute gem of a place in the middle of nowhere. Apparently the word is out , as the place was packed at 4pm on a Sunday . Nice find. The restaurant is in an isolated area with nice views. I went with the German faire and had chicken schnitzel. Not quite the schnitzel I have when we travel to Switzerland to visit family but not bad. Burgers seemed popular and it is huge and pretty good. I would go back to this restaurant. read more

Food was good and our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable. However, it was difficult to get over how rude the bartender was, so I doubt I'll be returning. We arrived early for our reservation and decided to order drinks and appetizers at the bar, but I could not even get any acknowledgement from the bartender let alone any attention. Finally got him to come over after a while, but when we asked for a menu, he responded with a scoff and an annoyed look as if we'd just asked him the most absurd question. When we asked again, he sounded irritated and asked which one- a drink menu or a food menu (we wanted both.) We still tipped +20% and just went to our table when it was ready, didn't complain in person as to not make our dinner companions uncomfortable. Food and service at our table were good but not enough to make me want to return. There are plenty excellent restaurants with good service in nearby New Paltz and in other surrounding towns. I personally really like Huckleberry and Main Course in New Paltz, Soy in Rosendale, and Hoot Owl in Pine Bush. Have not tried Mountain Brauhaus yet but heard good things about it. read more

During these difficult times, the owners and workers at this restaurant provide amazing service for local people and for guests. We ordered food for Takeout and they have a few seats outside within six feet distance. They gave amazing food that is very tasty and it's very beautiful outside! Great dinner in the Hudson valley Went decided to drive a bit from our home and this place had great reviews. I made a reservation for 5 and when we arrived we were immediately seated. For apps we orders the stuffed mushrooms with Brie and pretzel. Both were really good and recommend. For dinner I had the jaeger schnitzel and it was awesome. The spaetzel and mushrooms in wine sauce were perfect My only comment would be the schnitzel should be a little thinner and the meat was a bit thick. My 2 year old who is picky had the hot dog which is the size of two hot dogs ate the entire thing For dessert had the chocolate cake with ice cream which was layered within the cake and homemade chocolate sauce - must have!!! read more

Not up to their normal standards last night: slower service and the schnitzel and bratwurst were disappointing. The schnitzel was not pounded/tenderized and the breading was not a normal German breading --disappointing for someone lived in Germany for many years. The brauts were overcooked and dry. The whitefish pate and the garlic and potato soup were both very good. A good Oktoberfest beer combined with a beautiful decor are always appreciated. People have been telling me to go here for two years now knowing I would love it. I enjoyed two of their beer cocktails. I forgot the name of the I liked the most but it had an IPA, cream de cocoa, and a German beer schnapps in it and it was AMAZING! The second was the black forest beer cocktail made with a chocolate stout and cherry wine. Also very good and rich. This could definitely substitute for a dessert especially when accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The spatzle was perfect comfort food. The pretzels are amazing and house made. A hidden gem just off the interstate. AMAZING views, in the middle of apple orchards. The homemade pickles were exotic and awesome, even to my 6 and 9 year-olds. They even liked the pickled mushroom. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is clearly not a family friendly restaurant and the owner made sure we felt as unwelcome and uncomfortable as we could. For one example, he told my sister in law she could not use the door with the ramp for her stroller since he had his dogs outside - we had to help her down the steps. Recently stopped here on our way home from a trip to Rhinebeck. We weren't aware that the regular lunch menu isn't available on Sundays, but the food was delicious. I had a flatbread and my husband had a Bratwurst. The setting is lovely and charming. The staff was friendly and attentive.
