We loved this place! It does get pretty busy so I would probably recommend making a reservation before hand or at least calling in advance to check wait times. The drinks and side dishes were yummy. The staff was super friendly and the meat was amazing. We're strict when it comes to kbbq and this place met all of our expectations.

Who knew there was a karaoke + KBBQ spot in Tribeca! I went with a party of 6 for KTV ($70 per hour) and 5 for dinner on a Sunday evening. The karaoke is right downstairs and while the keypad itself is a little outdated, we were still able to find some oldies but goodies (they do have New Jeans + Chappell Roan, so it's not wildly out of date!) The Korean restaurant upstairs had benches that opened up as drawers so you could fit your winter coats and bags underneath. We ordered two meats to grill for BBQ - I didn't realize the Ribeye dry aged steak is not marinated so it didn't have enough flavor to me! (Definitely read the descriptions carefully before choosing.) I recommend the Yang-Nyum Kalbi instead! The wings were solid - 5/5 would recommend! Average drink prices range from $17-21. They actually combined the bills so we only had to pay once at the end of the night so it's a super convenient option if you're looking for dinner + an activity in this area!

Fried Shrimp - the dish has MORE but I forgot to take a picture when it came out.

**HIGH REVIEWS ARE FROM A PROMO THE RESTAURANT OFFERED IN EXCHANGE FOR FREE DRINKS** Was excited to try this spot when I saw the A health rating posted in the window, thinking they cleaned up their act after having carried the B rating for so long. I was a bit disappointed by the overall experience, and think the other ratings are inflated given it's the only Korean BBQ spot in lower Manhattan. All the meats are overpriced for the amount you get and they require each person to order a portion of the meat for the BBQ. The cheapest meat option was around $40. So a dinner for two, not counting drinks and other dishes already comes out to at least $80. The BBQ comes with unlimited banchan sides but they don't look too fresh especially the items in the creamier sauces - macaroni salad in a room temp mayo? No thanks. Bulgogi - looked forward to a marinated meat but the server overcooked it and it was sliced so thin that any and all marinade was gone by the time it hit our dishes Kalbi - slightly more "elevated" bulgogi nothing special Fried Shrimp appetizer - the shrimp were fine but again, the dipping sauce did not look fresh at all When I asked for pickled daikon, which comes with every banchan at every Korean BBQ place I've been to they looked at me like I had two heads and had no idea what I was asking for. I got a side of pickled cabbage instead.

Food is okay. Service is okay. Got the beef bimbimbap in a hot stone. Rice was mushy. Appetizers were okay. Not seasoned enough for me.

Work lunch review ahead: For a party size of 7, we ordered the following: - Han-sang Combination Platter (4.75/5) The accoutrements included banchan, steamed egg prepared table top, tofu and steak soup, fried dumplings and some dressing sauces/dips of soy bean paste, seasoned sesame and gochujang. The mains included: wagyu galbi, marinated galbi (short-rib), bulgogi, samgyup pork belly and marinated short rib. My favorites from the platter included all the meats, specifically the samgyup and bulgogi. As for the steamed egg, they could have done better with the texture. It was less silken and more spongy than I prefer for it to be. The proportions were perfect for 4 to be fed and full. However, since we were a larger group, we over-ordered a little and also got the following: edamame, chicken wings, additional fried dumplings, chicken bibimbap, the chicken bbq set and ribeye steak bbq set. - The chicken set (5/5) was tender and so well seasoned so don't think twice about ordering if you feel like. - The edamame (5/5) is an excellent pallet cleanser as usual. - The fried chicken (4.5/5) was perfectly seasoned and went well with the gochujang we used as a dipping sauce. The rest was good, no complaints but also forgettable. Our server did a great job grilling the meats and portioning it out for our large table size. On some occasions, I did however find them flustered and a little standoffish when I inquired about the names of the meats being grilled. However, gave him some grace since he was catering to our large group. Additionally, the tables filled out quite fast and quite often and the rate of clearing things up was a little too slow. Would've preferred more attention being paid to that. For a midweek lunch, the restaurant was quite packed and served up a commendable dining experience.

Honestly I am so disappointed by the quality and the taste of the food here. I've been eyeing the weekday pre fixe meal for two for a while ago and finally had the time off to check it out with my friend. Starting off with the banchan, it tasted very mediocre especially the kimchi and the pickled cabbage, it was very tangy and tasted almost store bought. I did enjoy the salad, that was refreshing and light. The other banchans included: macaroni salad, broccoli, pickled onions and were all pretty mediocre. The kbbq set also came with steamed eggs that they cooked in front of us which was not bad. On to the meat: we got the pork belly and the bulgogi. The pork belly was okay, but the cut of meat seemed especially thin. Also the portions for the pre fixe meal seemed small. I wasn't sure if the person cooking out meat knew how to cook it properly either, at some point I almost wanted to take over and cook myself. The side sauces/ dips with the meat were really basic and not tasty at all. They also didn't offer lettuce to wrap the meat. I don't know if you had to ask for them. The bulgogi was even worse than the pork belly. It tasted like something you'll eat in a japchae. The set also came with an appetizer - we got the mini kimchi pancake which tasted fine and also the drinks. The plum drink was fine too. The service was just okay. I didn't feel like the waiters were particularly friendly. I didn't like the ambiance much, it was very dark and with all the smoke, it made me feel a little constricted. Honestly, I am so disappointed with this kbbq meal. I've definitely had better kbbq before. It just didn't taste or feel authentic. *also I wonder if the high reviews are from their promotion for writing a review in exchange for a soju bomb*

Gunbae was able to accommodate or large party of 16 with reservations. We ordered 3 of the pre-fix menu with a lot of wine, beer and soju. I was sooo, sooo good. Joseph our waiter was funny, helpful, quick, attentive and fun. We had so much fun and our bellies were full, the meats, soup and bonchon were so delicious. The food was perfect for all of us. I highly recommend this place. Wish we had more energy to do karaoke after. Thank you for an enjoyable time!

Amazing! Mike and Myeong were awesome and the meats were so good. We had the BBQ Hansang Combo [2] for 8 people. Looking forward to the next one.

Good restaurant and great service. We had 5 people and had a variety of dishes. We had 10 wings, kimchi pancakes, Wagyu Kalbi, short ribs, rib eye, bulgogi, and bulgogi bibimbap. The wings were good and had nice flavor. They were a bit dry though. Apparently the kimchi pancakes were good. I didn't have any. Out of the meats I loved ribeye the most. It had a nice char and was very buttery and tender. The wagyu kalbi was a bit chewy. The short ribs were tender as well, thought the marinade flavor was ok. The bulgogi was nice with the vegetables. Also a bit chewy. For the amount of money you pay, the meats were smaller than I thought. However they were high quality. The bibimbop was tatsty. Vegetables were a bit dry. The side dishes were good, wish there was more since it's so meat heavy. And I wish the meats came with rice. The egg side dish was yummy. Overall food was good with some misses. Service was very attentive, friendly, and helpful. They are careful for allergies as well. They also have karaoke downstairs. I would definitely go back for the ribeye and service.

Came here as a party of 4 for a birthday dinner. We got the mini seafood pancake as our appetizer and the Gunbae combo and beef tongue for bbq. Overall, the food was decent but nothing very special. The seafood pancake tasted great but there wasn't a lot of seafood in it. The portion of the bbq combo was a lot bigger than I expected but a lot of the meat lacked seasoning. Even a little bit of salt in the meat would be great. They did all the cooking for us and unfortunately, the beef tongue was a bit overcooked and got kinda chewy. Service at the place was great. The kept refilling our banchan and I also liked how we could put our coats and jackets inside the seats so it won't catch the smell of the bbq. It was around $65 per person after tips and tax which was not bad for kbbq in NYC. Would recommend if you're already in the area and are craving for kbbq!

an absolute gem for korean bbq lovers and the perfect spot for after work gatherings or large parties in the downtown area! with all the korean staples you can choose from, you'd definitely find something you like on this menu! the super friendly staff and vibrant setting makes it the perfect atmosphere to sit down and enjoy your meal. they also help grill the meat for you. what we got: - Gunbae Hansang Combo - best for 3-4 guests - Wagyu Kalbi, Yang-Nyum Kalbi, Bulgogi, Sam-gyup Pork Belly, Fried Dumpling, Tofu Soup - complementary banchans - seafood japchae they also have karaoke rooms available at this spot for those who love to sing!

My daughter took me here for my birthday with her friend and my granddaughter. It is best to make a reservation. There were four of us in total, so we sat at a large table in the back kitchen area. If you are a group or 4 or more people, the table in the back where we sat is the best. The service staff are efficient and friendly. We ordered Mini Seafood Pancake, Rib-eye Japchae, Vegetable Bibimbop, Bulgogi Bibimbop, Seafood Sundubu Jjigae...some Korean drinks. After added Mini Kimchee Pancake. I had a veggies bulgogi but something tast missing. Only mini pancakes are yummy. I asked the other three people about their impressions of the food in the same way. They also thought it was okay. I guess I should have had the BBQ, but I'll try next time.

This is the second time I came here for a team building event which was nice.  They had a deal where you could get a free sake bomb if you wrote a review for the restaurant (they didn't specify that it needed to be a certain rating just to write one so there's that).  We ordered Korean BBQ to share as a team and had the following: chicken wings, a small seafood pancake (haemul pajun), fried dumplings appetizer, steamed egg, some banchan (sides and pickles) and assorted meats to BBQ (included pork and beef). The seating in Gunbae is decent for larger groups though you sit at a longer table.  We had two grills for our party and were able to eat at a relatively leisurely pace.  Staff is reasonably attentive and checked in with us.  Overall, the food was tasty and the spread ended up being just enough for the group (though we weren't stuffed).  The only minor ding I would say is that the banchan are fairly small portion wise and they don't give as many (I thought they'd bring at least 2 of each for our party size): we had mac salad, pickled jalapenos, kimchi, and broccoli when we went. The sake bomb deal is nice for social outings so be on the lookout for that when you go!  A solid option for the area (location is sort of key since there's a lack of Korean in the vicinity) but there are better options in Ktown.

My sister had the ribs, greens, and dirty rice. She didn't like any of her food. She said the ribs had a lot of gristle. There was very little meat on the bone. Since our program covered the expenses, we didn't pay anything out of pocket. Now I enjoy a good BBQ cookout at home as much as the next family, but don't care for it as a dining experience. My employer catered BBQ luncheons from time to time, and even then I wasn't crazy about it. Here in Hill Country, a room was reserved for us (party of 36). Our dinnerware resembled army mess tins lined with sanitary papers; our glasses resembled moonshine jars complete with screw threads at the rim for lids. Our dinner was a catered set of longhorn cheddar mac & cheese (quite good), sliced brisket (meh), market chicken (a little tough), fresh baked cornbread (dry & hard) and collard greens (good but could be saltier). I consumed massive amounts of mac & cheese and collared greens to help swallow down the almost rock-hard cornbread. Desert was chocolate chip cookies (that wasn't bad). Some members of the group ordered liquor (at their own expense) to celebrate the good time they were having. Customer service was less than stellar. The waitress did not inform us that soft drinks were complimentary until after we finished eating. That wasn't all. The restroom was located downstairs past the bar room. During my two visits - before and after the food was served - the same staff member was there cleaning. He had just finished the sinks when I went in the first time. NOT IMPRESSED…read more Stopped in for a quick lunch around 1:00 PM and I was extremely disappointed with the service and food quality. When I arrived, there were only a few other customers seated in the dining room. That should have been a RED flag, but I wanted to try the burgers while visiting New York. My wife had the Classic Burger topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, house sauce served with fries for $19.95 and I had the Smash-ology Burger with double smash burger patties topped with American cheese, red onion, lettuce tomato, smash-ology sauce on a potato bun served with fries for $19.95. First, the burgers are very small, lack flavor and there is nothing special about them. I've had a better tasting burger from Steak & Shack for a fraction of the cost. The fries were very cold and looked like they were sitting on a holding table for an extended period. I sent the fries back only to be served with more cold fries. Service was also lacking. When I complained about the cold fries, the server didn't seem to be pleased and was very hesitant to take them back. At a cost of more than $45 for two burgers and fries, I expected more.
