I love coming here with a group of friends to take advantage of their Sunday marathon. The price can't be beat for karaoke! Make sure to book a reservation ahead of time as the time slots fill up quickly and people do start waiting outside the entrance before they open to really maximize the time inside. There's varied size rooms for all party sizes. Note that you can't bring any drinks in. They check your bags and if you even have a reusable water bottle, they take it and keep it up at the front. They do provide each room with a pitcher of water and you are allowed to bring food and snacks in. They also have a convenient phone inside the room to call the front desk if you need help or need more water so you don't have to go there yourself. You use one single ipad to choose the song queues. They have a lot of the popular newly released songs which is great. They also have songs in other languages. The iPad is easy to navigate and you can also easily skip songs. Some songs did feel like it was a bit off (either the tempo or it was played in a different key) but it's manageable. The microphones do give feedback very easily if they're too close to each other or if you hold it a certain way. Overall cozy spot to go to for a time out with friends! read more

This place is in a great location. It was packed. Disappointed that some of the song choices we selected had a weird sound background. It was a different version of some songs we selected. I like that as soon as you needed food and drink beverages, there was a button on the wall that someone will come in quick. Bathrooms were clean. Many college students were in the space. You can have a private room or sing out in the open. They need more variety of songs. read more

Karaoke DUET 53 - Karaoke Near Me - New York, New York

This was my first time in a private karaoke room, and it was the perfect experience! They have a variety of snacks and hot food options, regular and alcoholic drinks, they even had Soju, which I thought was pretty neat! They provide you microphones, and an iPad where you can search and queue your songs! The lyrics will pop up on a TV screen and your voice will carry beautifully through their speaker system! The staff was very sweet from the moment we arrive to the moment we left, they deliver your orders to your room but just as a heads up if you have a personal water bottle, they will have you leave it at the front and will give you a ticket number to pick it up before you leave. Would definitely come here again on my next trip! read more

I take my staff here for happy hour 2 to 3 times a year. They are always really considerate, so easy to book a room for a large group. They are very organized and thorough. There's a phone in the room to order more drinks and food. They have little hot bites and chips. Would love more food options as you're drinking a lot. But nothing crazy... but a great environment, nonetheless. Also extremely reasonably priced. read more

Karaoke 53 - Fun, Affordable, and Worth It! My good friend and I recently spent a spontaneous day at Karaoke 53, and it turned out to be such a fun experience! There wasn't any special occasion--we both just love to sing and wanted to hang out and catch up. We booked a private room for 2 hours, and it was $17 per person, which was still a great deal for the amount of fun we had. One of the nice perks is that you're allowed to bring your own food, so I ordered some takeout from a nearby Chinese restaurant. While you can't eat or drink inside the actual karaoke room, we were still able to enjoy our drinks beforehand, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The song selection was impressive--tons of choices across different genres--and the staff quickly helped with any technical issues or song concerns. We basically turned our session into a two-hour concert, laughing, singing, and making memories. It was also a great way to reconnect with my friend since we hadn't seen each other in a while. Overall, Karaoke 53 gave us a great time at a fair price. If you love to sing, catch up with friends, or just let loose for a couple of hours, I highly recommend it. We'll definitely be back! read more

Solid karaoke spot. Song selection was very good, and staff were friendly. Would recommend!

Ambiance was great. No food to serve but they had a bar and the bar was really good. I found the staff to be really helpful. Hosted large party of 40 people at Duet 53 because I had a great experience at the duet *35* location last year. There were multiple large parties but I specifically had my reservation under my name and only my name. Another party's host was running late but their guests were sent to my party because they thought my party was the party that was running late. The staff talked to me about increasing the costs since I had 'gone over the intended 40 people.' I had talked to Ai at the front desk and she was extremely helpful and we worked out a solution. I do have issues that staff didn't check with me before sending them my way. I had to talk to people who weren't invited to my group and had to remove them. read more

At Karaoke DUET on 53rd, there's plenty of room for fun karaoke, you can meet up with your group of friends, and pack all yourselves in a room with plenty of songs to choose from that anyone can join in your favorite tune!! Even if karaoke isn't your thing, this place is great! I swear! Don't even bother driving in Manhattan. Be smart, either taxi or use ride share. It's just a lot of fun. Last week, I was out with a bunch of work colleagues of mine for Happy Hour. After we had a few bites and beers, we walked around the block and made our way to Karaoke DUET on 53rd Street for more fun. This was my first time in singing karaoke in NYC! You have to order through the touchscreen electronic device and a bartender/server will come by to drop everyone's drinks or appetizers. There were 2 microphones in the room so we passed them around from one singer to another. Spotlights on you!! According to their website, there are 3 locations in Manhattan and open as late as 4am on the weekends! Very clean facilities, nice staff running the place, restrooms were tidy, you'll be surprised how many times you keep answering the phone to extend another hour or so! Looking back at my iPhone Gallery, I'd post pictures and videos but there were too many drunk shots and bad words during someone's freestyle that Yelp would take down. LOL! read more

A good Karaoke option in Hells Kitchen. Staff is nice, and explains how to work the iPad, which is intuitive already, and there's a phone in the room that you can use to call the staff if you need anything. The staff uses that same phone to call your room asking if you want to extend/ a 10 minute warning before your room time is up. I do like the modern technology of using an iPad that is very easy to search songs and add to the queue. Unfortunately there is no way to skip the entire queue and play one song on demand (ie. if you've reached your time limit and want to do a specific final song), but that's def not a dealbreaker. The room itself is no frills (no fun lights, no props). For the medium room there is one large table, a couch that wraps around the room, and a tv that doesn't take up the whole wall. Prices are decent - it comes out to be ~$8 per person per hour! There is a thorough pricing sheet on the website to reference. I cannot say the same for prices of drinks...one soju bottle is $19 (AHH!!). So... come prepared. read more

My friends and I are long time regulars of duet. Duet has watched us grown up, graduate college, get our first jobs, and has given us good times all throughout. It pains me to write this review. On Wednesday night we had our first ever bad time at Duet 53. The staff member was passive aggressive and rude. This has never happened to us here before. On top of that, the new duet system doesn't include a lot of the songs that we prefer. This is an end of an era for us. We'll begin the long and arduous search for another karaoke place that could even compare. Goodbye Duet, thanks for all the memories read more

Good food. Good environment. Great staff. Called in last minute and had us booked within a half hour

I have been to other Karaoke DUET locations in the past (i.e. DUET 34 and DUET 48) and always been satisfied with my experience. I recently came here for the first time a few days ago and had a great experience as well. The staff will check your COVID-19 vaccine card and ID prior to entering. The rooms were nice and clean. The sound system and microphones were in good. You would have to use their iPad to select songs. The price is pretty cheap and is based on the room size per hour. Overall, I had a positive experience and I would come back for more karaoke with friends. read more

Things that could make this place better: cooler/colder rooms and lights inside. Price for 8 of us was $29 each. What was good: the music selections with music videos playing on screen. Comfy leather seats. You can bring food in. 2 hours is plenty of time. AC eventually started working. I've only done box karaoke once before and this time was much better. read more

When we went in, the host greeted us right away. She asked for our IDs, my niece was 18 so she informed us we would have to leave by midnight which was fine with us because we got there at 9pm. The second host lead us to our room and showed us how to use the tablet to get our song selection going and then we were left to sing our hearts out. The ambiance was great! The only thing I didn't like was how there was a long strip of glass on the door so people walking by can see you and your party. I think they should do away with it or cover it since they already have a camera installed inside the room itself. We didn't order any drinks or snacks because we had dinner already but they have a great selection. Overall, we had such a great time. read more

A super fun karaoke experience! My friends and I booked the room for 2 hours and the room was clean and service was very convenient. They had all the menus on QR codes and you can scan and order and pay right from your phones. It was truly contactless! They also had disposable covers for the microphones. The song list was comprehensive and you can search and add songs to the queue using the iPad included in your room. Prices were very reasonable- it was about $20 per person, and the drink I got was about $12 including tax and tip. Water was free of course. read more

This is a good karaoke option in midtown that's not located in k-town. But unlike the other budget karaoke places in K-town, this one is NOT BYOB, and they have converted all song lists to digital. While I am all for being environmentally friendly and covid friendly, it is hard to search for songs when the wifi signal is weak, and the search results were hard to navigate on the phone. You have the option to perform the search on the iPad, but there is only one, and it also acts as the remote control. The price for person wasn't too bad at $7/hr. Corona was $7 as well. I will probably stop by ktown in the future for a more authentic experience. read more

It's a pretty standard and basic Karaoke Bar. It's not particularly inclusive with their song selections. They do have international artists and songs but they're not updated with recent charts. The staff are very nice, helpful and quick with orders. They provide utensils since you can bring outside food. Their drinks, however, are extremely watered down. The facilities and rooms are clean (a bit weathered) but again, pretty basic. I prefer the karaoke bars in K-Town. read more

Clean rooms, good prices, fair song selection. Pricing is currently $9 a person per hour. Open 5pm-11pm on Thurs/Fri/Sat only. The front door is tinted, which makes it seem like the place is closed, but just walk in. There will be a doorman inside to check IDs. After that, head downstairs to the main area. Plenty of private rooms available. You are given your mics and an ipad which is used as the remote to input your music. Volume controls are on the machine itself. Some older reviews on Yelp from years ago have said that there's an online songlist on their website. We were hoping to be able to browse their songs online, but unfortunately the website didn't have anything like that when we checked. When we arrived, I asked the host on duty about this and was told they do not have one. Maybe it's been discontinued? Do come prepared with songs in mind. We were surprised to find no physical song books in our room. Though you'll be able to search by artist or song name, you won't have the ability to browse freely. A minor setback if you are normally used to scrolling through the song selection until you find something you like. Overall 5/5 so far. The cons were not a big deal. We enjoyed our time, and the staff were friendly. read more

This was my first time doing public karaoke (shout out to Pfizer!) Used to come here all the time and nothing much has changed except: - now they only use iPads instead of books which makes sense. - Currently their prices are based on how many people they need for a room (not based on how many people per room - ex. for a room that is made for up to 2 people, if you go on a Thursday it's $14). However, the rates are definitely better than some places. The only major con I'd say is not being able to see the playlist and what's coming up, skipping/canceling songs coming up. It can add up when you're being charged by the hour! Still, service is good and will continue going there! read more

This place was a great place for me because I have never done karaoke and it had all the basic tools and services that is required for a karaoke place. The price seems fair but confusing at first because at first we were told you pay for a room but some reviews has said that you pay as a person, I will probably have to go again to make sure that. The communication and service was great, they will call you 10 min early to let you know that your time is about to be over but the food is quite expensive (maybe because I am college student ?) . They do provide you free water service with Ice, which is really good, because after singing, I don't have to pay for water. But you can't take your water and drinks in the room, instead they will give you a ticket for your items, so you can receive it back later. As for the Songs, they provide diversity. But the Diversity is not what they claim. The Diversity they had were Asian Songs and English songs, they also had a International section as for "other" languages but couldn't quite find anything there. They said they have international Indian songs, they apparently only had maybe one or two Indian song. As for Korean songs, I wish it they Roman Hangul (English lettered Korean) so if a foreigner can't read, they can read the hangul. I think this should be a must because it is target for mostly foreigners who are intersted in Korean culture. I went with my friend who is from Korea and she said this feels mostly target for foreigners and it feels nothing similar they have in korea. For the song choices, some of the background of the video was quite weird, scenes that would not match the music video but some were normal too. It was funny because me and my friend would about to sing and the background wouldn't match so we just end up laughing most of the time, lol. Overall, It was a great first experience but judging from my friend who is from korea, she said it is quite expensive and nothing similar you would find in korea. They had all most popular songs, as songs from Blackpink,BTS, BigBang,G-Dragon, etc. Also they had some k-drama OSTs too, which was shocking but fun. I would go there again once more with my big friend group too but so far for 2 persons it was great, because you don't have to wait for turns. read more

-First Impression- Very neat and well kept -Service- Everyone was pretty nice. The equipment was explained to us, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco which was brought to our room almost immediately and we were left to conduct our karaoke shenanigans. Each room has a phone, so the front desk called us about 5 minutes before our time was up to let us know how much longer we had. -Price- Only a few dollars for an hour. Well worth it! -Did Not Like- Not sure how often the song selection is updated. Some recents songs were available, but some really popular ones were not. -Recommended?- Yes. Will probably go back with a larger group. read more

This is the newest location of the Duet karaokes. It is extremely clean inside and modern looking. The sound systems are also top notch. As the place gets older and wear and tear sets in, maybe not. But for now, the sound quality here is excellent. A good tip to keep in mind is that you can also lower and raise the volume of the music and the microphones on the unit itself. I came with two friends and we were actually given a very large room. From what I saw walking past the rooms, the rooms here are a good deal larger than the ones at the other Duets. Their song selection is also one of the best I have ever seen. They have all kinds of genres and are constantly updating their library with newer songs. Another good tip is that you can go on their website and look up songs in their library, and you even get the video number to input into the system. It is more up to date than going through the books on the tables. They have a solid menu of alcoholic beverages and some Japanese food as well. You are even allowed to bring your own food as well. It looks like I have found myself a new go to karaoke spot. read more

This was my first time going to a karaoke and I had lots of fun with my friends. When you enter, you go down the flight of stairs and you'll enter this big room with a bar on the left and people on the right that have the control panels for each room and the payment area on the right. For a room of three people on a Friday, it was $35 an hour. The room was pretty small but made sense for just the three of us. We walked past plenty of other rooms so I have to say that this place is actually pretty big. There is no age restriction unless it is after 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays and from Sunday to Thursdays at 12am to their closing time. No outside drinks or smoking is allowed. Once we entered we were given 2 mics and an iPad that we could use to choose the songs. They had a good amount of songs that you could play and just about eveything we wanted to listen to was there. The rooms are not completely sound proof as we were able to hear the other people in other rooms singing. In order to control the volume and ask questions, we had to call them using one of their telephones against the wall. Just so you know, you should take note of the time that you entered the room as they do not tell you when an hour is up. We came here telling the lady we would stay for an hour but it was almost 2 hours later until we called them and asked how long we have been there for. (We lost track of time hahaha) It probably was smarter to keep track of the time but in other karaoke places, my friend said that they track your time for you. read more

New Years Day. We just finished watching the amazing Allegiance on Broadway. So what do you do after watching an heart wrenching performance about the Japanese internment camps? カラオケ! Karaoke DUET 53 was right up our ally to end a fun night out in New York City. This joint is Japanese owned, so many of the music videos in the private rooms will have furigana over the English lyrics. Tucked underground, this joint sports a lavishly long bar and plenty of rooms for you and your friends to sing all night long. They charge by the half-hour per head, and for two hours of singing on New Years Day, we wounded up paying around $15 each. While the bar area and hallways are nice, the rooms themselves don't offer much aside from seating and song choosing. There's no tambourins or funky disco balls to create some lighting effects inside. Song selection here lags behind a couple of months, with the most up-to-date being September 2015 Top 40. The English song list was expansive yes, but was only sortable by song name and not artists. Better prepare your lists beforehand! Drinks here were good, and we did a couple of sake bombs to start off the night too. Would definitely be interested in coming back here for more karaoke when I'm in town. Prices are much more reasonable than those of K-Town, and managing to snag a room on a Friday holiday night was great! Sing away friends! read more

The prices are great $6 per person per hour, they have a full bar and a few snacks which is always great. Drink prices are average. The best part is that there opened until about 3AM. Most people come after a few drinks at a bar which always makes it fun. They do have security on weekends which helps. Just make sure everyone is over 21!
