The main reason we came here was to sing anime openings and they have a lot of Japanese songs. I called Duet 35 Karaoke at 1:42 AM to ask what time they close. I was told 3:00 AM. I also asked if there was a wait for a room and was told it was first come, first served. I arrived at 1:56 AM with a group of 10 people for a going-away party for a friend who is moving away, only to be told they were already closed. When I explained what I had been told on the phone less than 15 minutes earlier, staff said that if we wanted a room, we were supposed to arrive 1.5 hours before closing. That information was never mentioned on the phone. If rooms stop being booked after a certain time, that should be clearly stated when someone calls--especially when you're telling people you close at 3 AM. We weren't the only ones. At least three other groups also left upset, saying they were told the same thing: that the place closes at 3 AM, without being told there was a cutoff time to enter. read more

Made a reservation 2 days ahead of time and they were able to accommodate on short notice. The place is tucked away in K-Town but not in the busy part, but still situated between two really good restaurants. We came on a September Saturday evening, and the place was busy, but the staff were still super attentive. The place has a really advanced KTV system -- iPad navigation/queuing equipped with adjustable mic and song volume, as well as treble and key changes (what???). Although Duet 35 isn't BYOB, they are BYOFood, so you're able to bring your own snacks, food, and also have food delivery, if you have the craving. They also have a good selection of affordable liquor/beer/wine, though I'm hoping they'll add magkeoli soon. We spent 2 hours here and the prices were really affordable. Working my vocal cords to the max with a marathon karaoke session at Duet 35. Reserved a room in advance, arrived on time just as Duet 35 opened its door. Check-in at the bar/counter area was fast, and was quickly led into the booked room. This is a UYE- fellow Yelpers also brought snacks and food, I got a cake for us to enjoy (no drinks allowed); The sound system inside the room started out fine, but as time progressed microphones gave out heavy feedback and the music videos started not syncing correctly. The music selection was not as wide as I hoped (not enough Chinese music). Room might need a bit more ventilation- since we had food in the room. Decent karaoke spot. There is a flight of stairs you have to take to get inside. There is a security guard checking ID at the door. Not sure if they take reservations or not. We showed up without one and got a room for 12 people. Extensive drink menu but the food menu is small. We mostly ordered drinks and just one order of edamame. Huge selection of songs to choose from. The videos they show on the TV during the song range from the actual music video of the song to random clips of Japanese shows that have nothing to do with the song. The room was really hot so we had to get an employee to turn on the AC for us. If you need anything, you can call the server on the phone in the room. Will definitely be back. read more

Came to this place for a friend's birthday party and they stopped us to check our bags for any type of water. I understand if they are checking for alcoholic beverages but UNOPENED WATER BOTTLES? Unbelievable. They were digging through our bags to make sure every nook and cranny didn't have any type of liquid. Crazy. I understand that they sell water for those who didn't bring water, but I bring my own water bottle since I don't like drinking tap water. So for them to confiscate that from me when it's not even opened is such an insane experience. I've never seen any other karaoke places do this before; this place is truly trying to monopolize all types of water so that customers will pay for their beverages. Even if you have a medical condition, you will have to LEAVE your karaoke room to drink the water outside. Also, karaoke places usually have disco lights to make the experience more enjoyable, but our room only had ONE strip of LED lights... hanging from the TV. They also don't have tambourines in the room we were assigned to and all karaoke places have tambourines. They're lacking such a crucial part of a karaoke experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, there are better karaoke places in NYC and near K-town that will make your karaoke experience much better. read more

I came here with a group of nine. They have lots of rooms of various sizes. Our room had a large couch against the wall that fit all of us, with additional backless stools stacked in the corner. We had two microphones. For drinks, you can scan a QR code to access the menu, place an order, and pay online, including tip. A server brings the drinks to your room. They don't have any specialty cocktails, but they can make all the classics. They offer lots of ways to customize well drinks with base alcohol, mixer, and ice options. Prices were reasonable. There's a tablet in the room to add songs to your queue. You can search their catalogue by artist or by song title. Their video graphics were a bit dated and it took a few seconds to load in between songs. They gave us an extra ten minutes after our reservation ended. We had fun! read more

I have been here several times and it is one of my favorite karaoke spots in the city! It's definitely changed since I came in 2019. They have an iPad that is very easily understandable and they have a decent b'way list (I love belting musical theatre). Rooms are clean and drinks are pretty decent. Everything is reasonable, Mics have a little disposable cover to put on for sanity reasons, and you can bring outside food! Last year, we went to a Karaoke establishment in Las Vegas that had a much better arrangement in that you can pick your songs via YouTube. I had a group of 6 but all of the 6-person rooms were reserved already, so I booked an 8 person room for 2 hours through their website, which ended up being a good size for us. For the time that we booked, we had to order one drink per person (drink prices were quite reasonable ~$10). We were able to walk right in and get situated. There's a telephone in the room to request drinks, a table, and couches, and we were given 2 microphones. The song selection was quite varied and separated by language. We were able to add songs to the queue and skip songs, but we were not able to view what was currently on the queue. At the end, we had no trouble leaving and paying. For 2 hours and 6 people in an 8 person room with 7 drinks in total, we paid ~$250 including tax and tip, which I felt was very reasonable. read more

Came here to celebrate my birthday with a group of girlfriends. The room felt like a tight squeeze - not much room for people to stand up by the tv or walk around the room to sing. But we all had a comfortable place to sit. One drink per person was required but the drink prices were pretty reasonable. Reasonable rates for our room -- paid $65/hour (which we just divided among the group). For the selection of songs, I thought they had a wide variety of artists to choose from. We sang tunes from Bruce Springsteen to Elvis to Celine Dion and NSYNC. A lot of the songs had cheesy videos that would play on the tv with the music, often times totally unrelated to the song choice. You pick songs from an iPad and it creates a little playlist for you. You can order your drinks from the karaoke room and a server will bring the drinks right to you. This is a nice service but I wish we had the option to walk up to the bar ourselves because it was kind of distracting when the drinks were being served while people were singing. This was my first time doing karaoke in the city before but I think it was a good first experience. Close walking distance to Penn Station which is a plus when it was time to head out. This is one of the cleanest karaoke places I have been to. It is on a side street so it is not crowded at all. They have multi-stall bathrooms that are very clean. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Pricing is upfront and super reasonable for NYC. It has more of a chill vibe and only private rooms, no public karaoke stage. The rooms are standard with cushioned benches surrounding tables. I really liked that they have a phone intercom system that you use to order drinks/food (which was very reasonably priced) and for them to let you know when you have 10 minutes left of your reservation. I much prefer this to other places where the staff just enters your room every 10-20 mins to check on you which can be awkward and disrupt the vibe a bit if you and your party are singing your hearts out. I came here with three friends (party size of 4) and we ordered a pot of hot green tea for $12 which was enough for everyone to basically have two cups. The only flaw I noticed was that the lyrics on the karaoke were not accurate for many of the songs. You also don't get a score at the end. These are minor things that most people probably don't care about unless you're an avid karaoke-goer and these things matter for your experience. I called to make a reservation for a group of 5 for Saturday night. They were fully booked up for the 6 person room so I reserved an 8 person room. Sat is one of their busiest days so reserve ahead of time if you're planning to go on a weekend. There is a two hour minimum when you reserve a room but if you do walk in you can sing for an hour and leave. The staff told me there would probably be a wait if we decided to walk in instead for a smaller room. They also told me that we can bring in our own food but not drinks. We got there on time. This is when they told me there is a one drink minimum per person. Then they walked us to our room and explained how to use the karaoke system and order drinks. There's a phone in the room that automatically calls the front desk as soon as you pick it up. You tell them what you want and someone brings it to your room promptly! Pretty cool. They had a lot of songs but not the newest ones. I wanted to sing from T Swift's newest album but they didn't have Anti-Hero. When we checked out I either lost my receipt or they didn't give me one. I called them a few days later to get the cost breakdown. The woman who picked up sounded irritated, she responded "okaaay?" after I told her why I was calling. We went through the costs and I was writing it down as she read them but I couldnt type on my phone as quickly as she was speaking. I told her at least 3x that the speed she was going through the numbers was too fast for me to write down. She continued at pretty much the same speed each time after I said it. Overall a good experience. My friends had fun. Deducted a star for the poor experience when I called for my receipt details and because they only shared the drink minimum when we got there. Came here for my bday and although service was top notch (always prompt and helpful) it means nothing for the actual karaoke. The receiver indicates three microphones can be used but sadly only two mics are supported (per staff). The echo and quality was poor (even after fidgeting with the system). There are no outlets anywhere (we found the only one supplying the system which required moving furniture). The food was ok for what it was but definitely save your money and order out. Drinks are dive quality so get a bottle of sake. All Spanish songs were completely off (do not dare to sing them as youll dishonor them). Several rock selections where utterly poor rendition (no doubt, when they were no doubt and actually good, was sped up and lyrics were completely wrong by the 2nd verse until the end). Overall if you're with a good crowd, fidget with the system to fix the sound a tad, order scrumptious food, then youll have an decent time. Clean, comfortable, and classy! I haven't been here in years and I was pleasantly surprised how nice of an establishment this was. Everything ran smoothly and I love that you can use the in-room phone to order drinks or get extra napkins. Their iPad is very convenient and easy to use. Since you don't have a booklet to browse through songs, I'd suggest having a list of songs ahead of time so you can search for them easily. I had been to Duet 35 many times before the pandemic and was excited to return tonight with colleagues. On my third night back at work from maternity leave, some dear friends/colleagues and I made a reservation in advance, and when we showed up we were immediately frisked by security who maintained a very strict no outside beverage policy (totally understandable given the current market). We willingly dumped out our half-full water bottle (our mistake), but I was not willing to part with my breast milk that I had in a special container. Security had no problem with this at first, but the front desk staff demanded to see the milk, and made rude comments to me about when and how I was going to utilize it (while singing Broadway show tunes?). Their callous "byeee" will be forever ringing in my ears as I imagine the good old days of being able to belt out a show tune in midtown. Thanks for ruining a memory duet 35 (or at least the staff at 8:40pm on July 13th, 2023). Hard Pass - on our way to a more civilized karaoke experience now. read more

I made a reservation online a few weeks prior for a Friday evening at 9:30 PM. It was for two hours, for an 8-person room and the rate was $65/hour, which I think is pretty reasonable for a private room. Reserving online was really easy. I got an automated confirmation once I booked, but I didn't know if it was actually valid since no one ever called to confirm. But luckily, when we showed up that night, they had our booking. The rooms feel pretty clean, and I appreciate that they use microphone covers - especially during Covid times. Drinks are pretty reasonably priced as well and ordering is easy. For our first time doing karaoke, it was a blast! Having a little room to ourselves really allowed us to get comfortable. The addition of being able to order drinks and snacks made it all the more convenient. Although they forgot our order on the first try, they made sure to respond quickly on the second. Since we were planning to stay for the minimum requirement of two hours, we were surprised they allowed us to stick around for an additional hour and a half. I have been to this place many times with friends and always had a great experience. Unfortunately recently, things have taken a turn for the worse. It started with them demanding we hand over our water bottles before going to the rooms (how can you expect us to enjoy singing karaoke with dry throats?) and then got much worse. An employee burst in mid session and accused us of setting their bathroom on fire (?). When we said we didn't (because we didn't), she stormed out. When we left and were paying, the same woman came back and yelled at us for not tipping. Incredibly unprofessional, rude behavior. I love this place. We go every couple of months, and it never fails. The song selections are fantastic! The place is clean and the rooms hold varieties of people and accommodate 2 to 20. It's a great choice for ridiculous Karaoke. The way they manage the room time and the drink service through a "bat phone" in our room is so convenient. Our only complaints are... we aren't able to control the AC in the room, and we wish they had a list of restaurateurs we could order from to get wings and fries and snacks so we wouldn't have to go pick up food in advance. Really nice experience overall! Pros: nice song selection on the iPad. You have a lot of control over how loud you want your music vs. the microphone sound (they let you touch the controls). Prices are very reasonable for large groups in the afternoon, before 8pm. Staff is very communicative. They give you pitchers of water so you don't lose your voice after a billion songs. You can bring in your own food. Cons: song selection app doesn't tell you what songs come next/where you are in the queue, but a small point. Someone in the next room complained it was too warm, and so they turned up the A/C and we were all freezing in our room, so just dress in layers in case. Overall, great experience for a good price! Great room, a little tight because it's really not meant for more than four people, but we had such a blast! Good choice of songs. Came here as part of a birthday trip to NYC and had a blast with my friends. I've been to a handful of private karaoke rooms and this one did the job! Price was reasonable and the place was clean. Good selection of music and really can't complain much because it provided what we were looking for! The only "cons" of our night was that it took about 30 minutes to get water, so we were pretty thirsty from doing so much belting. There was a really bright light in our room that killed our mood a little but we eventually asked how to turn it off. The employee said that a lot of people ask for them to do that, so it might be a good idea to just start asking everyone when they arrive and going ahead to turn it off for them. The points are mostly deducted for the service, upon arriving to the outside of the building some guy said he was a security guard and asked us to come inside an adjacent door (which had a duet 35 sign) and wanted to check our bills? of course we denied to let him check anything and we went through the first door and got upstairs where we were able to check in. It's a bit chaotic at the check in, but we were able to get to our room quickly. The drinks are really bad, super watered down and doesn't really taste like anything. We ordered a drink each and the server couldn't tell us which drink was whose and when they left to check they never came back. Overall we came for karaoke night for two and we had fun singing. It's a decent place for karaoke but on Friday+ saturday + sunday they require one (alcoholic) drink per person, especially during peak hours. They should remove this requirement because it is SUPER DANGEROUS. My friends and I could barely make it home safely because we were all too drunk, because we HAD to buy ALCOHOL!!! It is the stupidest rule I've ever seen, not to mention super dangerous. I get it. but please allow non alcoholic beverages too. My friends and I also ordered tea, which angrily enough, did not count towards the one drink per person policy. This is such a nice karaoke place. I love karaoke but I don't like doing it in front of a huge group, so an individual room is key for me. Duet is clean and they stick to the COVID precautions, by requiring masks in common areas and vaccination cards, and cleaning between each group. I had not been to a karaoke bar since before the pandemic and I really liked the use of iPads to pick songs. It was nice for each of us to pick a song and see what was coming up on the que. Although there were a few songs missing from the song selection, it is overall solid. The pricing is also very reasonable, especially if you are splitting it among a large group! A few tips: 1. If you want to stay for more than an hour, make sure you request it early on. They will (rightfully) kick you out if you do not and they are busy. 2. Bring a jacket. The space is very well ventilated and air conditioned, even in cooler weather. read more
