On 8/11 had a taste for farm-to-table and wanted to try a restaurant I had not patronized. So,…read moredecided on Friend of a Farmer. The restaurant's host/hostess area is at the entrance when you walk in. Tiny yet non-problematic. Bar, indoor and outdoor seating are available. On this lovely sunny late afternoon I opted for outdoor seating. Outdoor sidewalk patio seating is much better than other restaurants. It is clear that a lot of thought was put into making this as comfortable as inside. I had a perfect view of staff outside making a few signature drinks. One was a tomato martini however I opted for a mocktail blueberry lavender drink which was scrumptious & refreshing. For dinner, the watermelon caprese and vegan pot pies were fresh, tasty and packed with flavor. I could eat this for days on end and not get bored! Can't wait to return. Maybe for breakfast the next time.

Plush banquettes and small tables. The ambiance is countryfied and corn-fed. The menu is equally small. We started with the corn ribs, so called because it was a corn cob quartered and dredged with crema and cotija. It had a pleasant bite to it. The burger was small to the eye but thicker than anticipated. It came with cheese, bacon, arugula, and fries. To my surprise I ate all of it. My dining companion had the grain bowl and enjoyed it. We washed this down with a Talea IPA and a cider, can't recall the name. Service was top notch. We even had an amuse bouche, cornbread with apple chutney. I tipped appropriately.

One of the very best diners in NYC. Great decor and very comfortable seating at mostly booths…read more The counter / bar seating is cute. Salmon is some of the very best in the city and amazing price for nice size high quality portion which I believe is wild salmon. Old John's also plays Awesome music - the other night a lot of Sam Cooke creates the perfect 50's / 60's diner vibe. Staff has always been very friendly. Cheesecake with fruit compote is also fantastic.

I believe we had the Brooklyn (?) french toast, which (despite being soaked in the syrup) wasn't overly sweet, so it was the perfect balance with the other savory dishes. I'm not a big lox person so the Leo was alright for me; the overall consensus was that the cream was a little too heavy for us. We did really like the latke that came with it though, reminiscent of a hashbrown. The chilaquiles was absolutely delectable with the acidity of the salsa verde + pickled red onions and avocado. It was a busy Sunday morning, but the service was still pretty good - overall had a great experience, the only downside was my umbrella did get stolen at the front though so be mindful? They also have such a mouthwatering selection of desserts as well, so I'll have to drop by for a slice next time!

Ambiance/Atmosphere Came here for brunch with a friend on…read morethe Upper West Side, and the space set the tone right away. Warm, cozy, and inviting, with a relaxed vibe that made it easy to settle in and linger over the meal. Appetizers We started with a cheese flatbread, boat-shaped and blistered at the edges, the interior molten and gooey with a bright basil leaf on top. Simple but done really well, crisp crust giving way to all that warm cheese. Mains The brunch dishes were the highlight. A sizzling skillet of eggs cooked over spiced sausage came out rich and savory, the yolks just set, perfect for scooping up with the basket of warm bread on the side. The tomato-based baked eggs were equally good, a deep, well-seasoned sauce with a little heat and fresh herbs on top. Comforting, generous, and full of flavor. Drinks The blackberry mocktail was a standout, refreshing and beautifully garnished with a cluster of fresh blackberries. Always great to see a thoughtful non-alcoholic option that feels like more than an afterthought. Service Attentive and warm throughout. The team kept everything moving smoothly without ever feeling rushed. Verdict Five stars. Delicious food, a cozy atmosphere, and a mocktail worth ordering on its own. A fantastic UWS brunch spot that I'd happily return to.

I love their branzino though I wish the potatoes that came with it were more flavorful and crispier. The muhammura is epic. After coming here twice I had to recreate it at home and it's my new favorite dip. I even made labneh to go with it. Leyla has inspired my cooking at home! I make my friends and family muhammura now, and I can't get enough of Turkish cuisine. Cant wait to come back and try more of their dishes!

We reserved for a quick bite at Redeye Grill before catching Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway, but as soon as we walked up, some bouncer told us they were closed for a private wedding reception. We were dazed and confused because how was I able to reserve online? But the real plot twist was that it ended up being the best thing that happened. We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too. My fish tacos were packed with fresh fish, the guacamole and salsa were chunky and full of flavor and hubs enjoyed his pastrami sandwich. I have no clue when we'll be back in Midtown, but one thing's for sure- we're sitting with Josiah again.

For those who like a little drink with their food, during brunch they offered a number of brunch cocktails (bottomless) for $35 Food of Choice: I had the Truffle Mac and Cheese and a side of the za'tar cauliflower. Both dishes were great and filling. The cauliflower had a lot of bold flavors! The onion ring on top of the Mac and cheese was a nice touch. I couldn't really taste the truffle but I would still order the dish again.
