Original Beef Bone Broth (Medium Spicy) | IG & TikTok @territheplatypus.eatz

Quick and nice service, but the store is super small. There are only 6 tables but the restaurant is clean. I'm used to having a sauce bar at malatang spots, and this one doesn't have one, which was a bit disappointing. The soup itself also isn't as creamy and rich as other malatang spots, but it was rather more like a Szechuan hot pot numbing soup. Theres an alright variety of ingredients to choose from, and everything was fresh. It's in a convenient area but would not go out of my way for it again.

Like others have said, a perfect quick meal spot! We got the Beef Bone Broth and beware the jump between Mild and Medium spicy is BIG !! If you like spice, Medium is great already. Had a decent selection of ingredients, my fave was the fish and tofu.

Really love the fresh variety of ingredients for the malatang pot. Good options on broth as well that makes it perfect for the cold and the space is pretty big, seating thats good to stay and enjoy the food as well. Not pricey and friendly service as well.

The food was great and it came with rice as well!! It was self serve and you need to get more than 0.8lbs of food. I chose the tomato soup base and they have so many options!

I love malatang, so this opening up here is a blessing. I love the Signature Beef Bone Broth, but the Chicken Broth is a close second. Prices here are actually cheap compared to other places and I can stuff my bowl up like crazy with everything I want. 10/10 for malatang lovers

Tasty but the tomato broth was a little artificial to me! There also is no sauce bar or rice unlike other malatang places I've been :(

We walked in without reservation but Patrina was able to accommodate us and personally escort us to the table to be sure we are seated comfortably. Our wait staff Miles was very friendly and kind, attention to details. We wanted to start of with some white wines but could not decide which one, he gave us some recommendation and introduced the wine sommelier- Joe who is very knowledgeable and professional. We really enjoyed the wines he recommended and it paired beautifully with the seafood we ordered. The oyster and uni cold starter was a wonderful kickoff, and they surprised us with a compliment starter which was really refreshing! It's thine sliced salmon sashimi dressed lightly with yuzu and sesame oil. It's delicious and it's free who doesn't like that! We had chicken wings as hot appetizers, it was done just right! The divers scallop was also super light and delicious but the sauce was on the heavy side. We finished with the black cod clay pot which was a great wrapped up. We were full and really had a great time enjoyed the food and wines at the 53-nyc. My friend's already asked me info about the restaurant and I highly recommend this place! What started as a quick break turned into one of our favorite moments of the afternoon. We ended up chatting with the bartender for quite a while, swapping recommendations for speakeasies and cocktail bars around the city. It's always refreshing to meet someone who's genuinely passionate about their craft and happy to share local favorites. The cocktails were excellent, and the conversation made the experience even better. This wasn't actually our first visit--we celebrated my birthday here about three years ago, and I still remember how impressed we were with both the food and its presentation. It was nice to return and be reminded why we enjoyed it so much. We also learned that 53 has opened a speakeasy downstairs that's open on select weeknights and features live jazz. Needless to say, that's already on our list for our next trip to the city. Whether you're stopping in for a full dinner or just a well-made cocktail and a break from the Midtown bustle, 53 is well worth a visit.
