Here we go again, decided to give them another chance and burned again unbelievable. Ordered a subwoofer online it was delivered with 2 of the 4 rubber feet completely broken off and punctures to the bottom of the sub, called them up and I have bear the responsibility of lugging it back to the store before they will replace it, it seems that the paying customer has to assume all responsibility for being a customer I paid to receive it in 2 days now I was told not to use it and return it to the nearest store. read more

I bought a Schecter bass "brand new", & the tech was suppose to set it up. The action is horrible, & the strings buzz, even when playing open strings. Today it started squealing high pitch sounds, just by being plugged in, without even playing the strings. When I change the 9v, it sounds like a short circuit from botched internal wiring. This specific Guitar Center has a plethora of instruments, speakers, and accessories readily available. When I went there, I was looking for a particular DAW (digital audio workstation) called FL Studio 20, which they had in stock and were able to quickly grab for me. It was even on sale! So that was an extra plus. Additionally, the high level of organization and cleanliness can be appreciated by anyone across the board. I asked a few questions just to see the depth of the employees, and I was truly impressed how intelligent the team was at this store. There wasn't really any negatives on my visit, which encourages me to stop by again next time I am in need of an item that would be in stock. Also, when I google searched the item i was looking to purchase, this location kept popping up saying it was in stock and it was correct in the statement. 5 stars, I will go back when needed! read more

Traded in my guitars here. Everybody I interacted with was polite, but the customer service was so sluggish that it was a miserable experience. I waited at the desk for an hour because I was constantly neglected, and Wally can and should probably type with more than one finger at a time. I get that it can be hard to deliver good customer service during a pandemic, but it helps if your staff actually wear their masks over their nose. I wouldn't wish the experience I went through on anybody. If you want to save time while trading musical equipment, just go to Bookmans, which is nearby. read more

I've been going to various Guitar Center stores since 1982 and met a whole lot of great sale people. However, several months ago, I think I found the best sales professional I've ever come across - Joaquin Mercado, who works at the GC at 996 N. Rt. 59 in Aurora, IL. I was looking at a PRS and we spend over an hour and a half discussing it. Joaquin is really knowledgeable and he's an actual gigging musician himself. Of course I ended up buying the PRS (love it!) and told him I'd be interested in a used Godin, if one ever came in. Sure enough, about a month later, he called me out of the blue and said they just got one in. It was perfect and he and I again spent about an hour talking music and equipment. During that whole time, I watched him repeatedly answer customer questions, ring up sales, explain gear and be really good to other customers. So yeah, he sold me another guitar- this time the Godin. In any event, he's a great guy, really motivated and enthusiastic and, as I said above, a real professional who is a credit to GC and a person whom I'm glad I got to meet. With all that said, he deserves a shoutout from me, nothing but a longtime, loyal GC customer. Big ups, Joaquin- thanks for all your knowledge and help! read more

Made the horrible mistake of taking my gear here for a repair. "Gil" their guitar tech did a terrible job with my guitar. I brought him in a guitar that was having grounding out issues and he claimed to have fixed the issue but as soon as I got it in the hands of a real technician for a setup the issue started happening again. We opened up the guitar to see a careless soldering job and poor shielding added to the wiring of my guitar. There goes $$ right down the drain. Not to mention the guy had terrible customer service and seemingly no care for the customers. Watching the way he handled my guitar also put me off a little. I mean when someone hands you the thing that is their primary means of income, you'd think the technician would handle it with a little more care? Nope. When I got the guitar back there was new scratches all over the finish and control plate. I Will never be taking a guitar here again. Call the next day after money was taken from my account and my email from GC said my order couldn't be found. Manager says 'we do have 1 pair, open box that I can test and call you back on/give you a discount.' Well fuck me that's definitely not what I ordered or paid for. Sure enough they didn't work, kind of weird you guys accepted an order without the inventory and then caught a bunch of attitude when I accused you of essentially stealing from me and being unprofessional...even corporate said it's weird a store took an order without the specified product in stock. read more

So, I just stopped by GC to pick up strings. I order them in bulk through GC online. I just purchased another PA from their Tempe location in November and 2 new guitars from the Peoria location last year. I am on my way to a gig and wanted to pick up a few extra high e and b strings in case I break one. This is the first time they told me they would not sell me individual strings. I buy a few extras every week. So I left. And all that equipment is getting sold this weekend. I will never shop here again. Nick is awesome! We came in for a bass guitar for our daughter and he was super patient and kind. He made excellent recommendations and helped us pick everything out that we needed. He even stored the guitar for us for a few days as we were surprising her and couldn't bring it home yet. I've worked in the realm of staffing and can say with certainty that he's a gem. The prices were great and it was definitely a "one stop shop" for everything we needed. I noticed quite a bit of people in there trying out instruments and generally being annoying (in my opinion lol) but the staff seemed so relaxed and unbothered by the general chaos of the public. Even though Nick was our favorite- honorable mention to the long ponytail fella who made sure we'd been helped. Very sweet and mellow staff. We will be back! read more

Guitar Center is a serious disappointment. I've avoided doing business with this company for many years. Employees, lack substantive technical & industry knowledge. Seems a majority of them are more concerned with their, wanna-be 80's hair-band appearance than assisting customers. To add to the frustration, when a problem surfaces, there just isn't anyone competent enough to step-up, make a decision and take care of business! I bought an amp online and had it shipped to AZ. I was really reluctant in doing this, but the amp is rare, it was priced right and appeared to be in remarkable condition. Mistake #1. Amp was shipped it to the wrong store. Rather than a 15 minute drive, had to drive 45 minutes to this location. The amp is in remarkable shape. Took it home, tested it out and? Erg!! scratchy pots. Mistake #2. Forced to return to the 45 minute drive location.... lame excuse, "You'll have to take it back to the location where you purchased it." Mistake #3. Make the lengthy drive and the store manager has this guy assist me. I explain to him that I want the amp repaired. I want it to function correctly. This idiot, repeats....several times, "we'll man, you know you can return it." No! (garage-band groupie with zero brain-cells!) I want it serviced and repaired. Nothing less will satisfy this customer. I demand the location of their warranty tech center, so I can take my amp in myself and get it repaired. This stooge writes down two phone numbers on a sticky-note, saying, "bro, call either number and take the amp in and they'll fit it." Now, (clearly pissed-off), I walked into the managers office and tell him that I want the necessary paperwork to take my amp to an authorized repair facility to get it repaired at No Charge! I will not accept anything less. After a 15 minute run-around, I am provided with documents I requested. Dropped my amp off for repair on 5/30/19 and I'm still waiting. Told today, (my forth phone call) it will be finished on 7/3/19. Save yourself the hassle and frustration dealing with these fools. Find a local, privately owned Music Store! What may cost you a few bucks more, (up-front) will end-up saving you plenty in the long-run. read more

Again and again, worst experience of my life. Had a gig tonight, we needed a keyboard. Checked online at guitar center, they had one in stock. Paid online, went to pick it up. Nothing but a damaged box with broken keys. Now I'm stuck with a charge on my card, that won't return back for 3 to 5 days, so I can't go somewhere else to buy another one. No gig tonight, canceled because of guitar center. No offering me an upgraded model for the inconvenience, nothing. Just have to wait for my money to come back. Not understanding these negative reviews. I've been here a number of times and the customer service is great.

Lets set the scene. Its 7 am on Black Friday. I am 6th in line outside in the freezing ass 40 something degree weather with a bunch of people that looked like they had played D&D all.night.long. I am on a mission. The husbands bday and Christmas are both fast approaching. The husband has talked no stop ever since we met about how badly he wanted/needed a new drum set. Guitar Center is selling a $1200 Pearl set for $600 bones, Sweet. So I size up my competition, I mean the people in line around me. None of The immediate people around me are there for the drum set, but I can hear a few people back talking about the exact drum set. I've never set foot in a GC before. I have no music skill what so ever. So I ask the people in front of me where the drum section is so I can make a break for it when they unlock the doors. They inform me and I get my game face on. The doors fly open at 8 and off I go. I see a sale associate standing in front of the drum section, I make eye contact with him and give him a gesture to let him know I mean business. The person I dealt with was named Sean (Or at least that's the name of the cashier on my receipt) He was extremely helpful, He answered all the questions I had and even lugged all the drum boxes out to my car for me and loaded them up. Guitar Center is a pretty cool place for musicians. You get to play with the instruments before you buy them and prices are generally pretty reasonable. The store is pretty big, so you'll find that they carry pretty much every instrument imaginable, including DJ equipment, mixing tables etc. etc. If you're buying something over $100, they are usually willing to negotiate with you too. This is because the sales are commission based, so the employees are allowed to barter to get that sale. Always ask, because they will probably go down a little on price. I also think it's cool how they send you coupons in the mail after a big purchase. You'll get a coupon for free drum sticks, guitar strings and other little things along those lines, but it's nice for them to recognize their loyal customers. read more

Everyone here is nice and helpful (not at all like the youtube video linked above). They have a Rane/Serato box setup that you can just play with along with turntables. A few problems though. Almost everything is priced at MSRP and way too high, especially in this economy. I'd give more specific examples, but $400 for a Rane SL1 DVS is too much - especially considering it's nearing obsolete status. The used equipment here should be avoided, unless you can try it out extensively before buying. Although this really isn't the fault of this store, but of the entire company. And the return process can be slow - 20-30 minutes sometimes while you wait for a manager to be free. GC has this thing where you can buy a used item from a different store and have it shipped here. I've only had success 2 out of 4 times. One time, the used deck just ate my CD and would not spit it out. I'm not sure how an item like this can be put into the "used" category with no flag per its working condition. Overall, a great store - but stick with Craigslist or ebay for used equipment. read more

I came in Not knowing much about instruments, just knowing I wanted a classical guitar to be able to gift to my significant other and I was super disappointed. I feel customer service was a 1, No one even tried to help, I asked an employee for help and he said " they should be in that room" and didn't even ask if I needed help or anything. I love guitar center. I have been coming to this store since it opened and moved and reopened. They always have awesome deals on used stuff. I have spent more money here than anywhere in my life. The staff has changed a lot over the years. I miss Tim Livingston, a lot. He was the best employee ever. He could remember everything he ever sold you. He was a gear hound, could match you to the right product and if he didn't have he would find it and call you. Many of the good staff I have met at GC over the years now works down the road at Sam Ash. The selection over there is a little more on the low end, but the staff is more knowledgable and honest. I still love GC and will continue to spend here but I think they need to work on the commission structure to retain their good employees. read more

Zero Stars for this location!! They have NO customer service skills whatsoever!! I was Not greeted, and passed by numerous employees who said not one word to me. I stood around, waited, and waited. There were only about 10 people in the store, so I wouldn't say they were 'busy'. When I finally asked someone if they had what I was looking for, he acted bewildered like he had never heard of a frame drum. He finally remembered they had one ONE behind the counter. I went to the main kiosk to check out and the guy rang me up, handed me my receipt and that was it. So I was left to wrap the drum back up and put it in the box myself. A simple bag would have been nice. The whole reason I went in was to try out the different sizes and get a feel for them, and maybe ask some questions from the "professionals". Next time I'll just shop online and they will never get my business again. Extremely disappointed. read more

This is long overdue. Starting going into Guitar Center in January (2016) researching electronic drum kits. Store has a great inventory of floor models to check out. Staff was always available and receptive to an absolute novices series of absurd questions. In my research period I met at least 3 different 'drum guys' who all seemed to have a reasonable knowledge base and personal experience. Jeremy, who has since transferred out to Mesa was particularly patient and accommodating. Bought the kit and have been happy with it since... (of course everything gets upgraded...) Went back in February to buy an acoustic kit. I might be a bit OCD... Bought a kit, took it home and realized it was really too soon to need or use an acoustic kit. Took the kit back to the store in pieces with only 'most' of the boxes and it was taken back without questions for a full refund. So September hits and yes, it's time to look at acoustic again... Now I have a much better idea of what I really need for my purposes. Find a great used kit at a screaming price. Of course the heads are trashed but the shells are pretty sweet. Spent 2 hours plus checking out heads, hardware, and sundry items. Kyle was on that day and he patiently walked me through the what's and why's. He took the time to price check everything to make sure I was getting the best prices available and then he volunteered to put on the heads and make a drum port in the kick... Amazing, great job and the hands on in-service was invaluable. Got the kit home and set up. Looks and sounds great. Bought at a price that I won't get hysterical if I pick up some dings from transporting around. Between January and September I was typically in the store on a weekly basis. Mostly to browse, but I did pick up a couple guitars, mics, powered speakers and mixer for starters. Pretty much everyone in the store is friendly and accommodating for the most part. I am in there enough to know that like real people we all have good days and bad days. Anyway, I like the store... they have my business because of service, competitive prices and a decent in store inventory plus an expansive catalog if you don't crave immediate gratification. read more

This store does what it's supposed to...it ROCKS! I mean c'mon now, you can walk in and play just about any instrument there and not get pressured to buy it. How awesome is that? They have a room that is just wall to wall acoustic guitars that you can just sit there and play. They offer lessons as well as repairs, and usually have just about any set of guitar strings or pics you could want. I recommend Martin Marquis Silk and Steel strings for acoustics and heavy pics. The employees are knowledgeable and won't try to get you to buy the expensive stuff just for the sake of a profit. In fact, they will normally try to save you some money if possible. I also like how they seem to really enjoy their jobs and take it seriously. I always tell anybody who is just starting to get interested in playing the guitar, or music in general to spend some time in this store and just absorb the vibes. read more

I'd never had any repair work done there, and was a little hesitant, having seen a number of negative reviews. However, my concerns were unfounded. Great selection of used and new gear for any musician whether you're a hobbyist (like me) or a touring musician with virtuoso chops and a record label. Some staff makes you feel like you don't know what you're doing or what you want. Been here plenty of times for plenty of different reasons. There are some very great and helpful people here. Then there are the "know-it-alls" who think they are so hot shit. Price is okay. Quality and selection are pretty expansive. Been going to this location for many years, since before the move and I've always had friendly service. Went in yesterday just to look around and noticed they have a repair area now. I talked to Edward for a bit and decided to bring in my guitar that was set up horribly by someone else. After a quick trip home I brought my guitar in and while I waited I ended up buying a new bass and amp (impulse buy). Got the call today that my guitar was ready and as promised, Edward fixed the issues I had and got the guitar set up properly and made some repairs.
