The employee helping us was a manager, I do not remember his name but made our trip quick and painless. The store is setup nice and very clean and there are sections throughout to try before you buy. Had a great experience today. Our girls are starting piano lessons. My husband has been researching for a good piano for them. We were looking for reputable name, good reviews, quality, and medium weighted keys. Husband found one online he thought would be a good fit here at Guitar center. Waited shortly for a gentleman Tony to assist me in the keyboard/piano area. I let him know what we were looking for. He picked out the same keyboard my husband had. He was so helpful, professional and friendly. They have phones you can pay right there as you talk and your receipt comes in the mail. Note that receipts may take up to 24 hours to receive. Just ask for a printed receipt if needed. The price showed over $800 while browsing in store. We knew it was only $699. They really should reflect actual pricing on tags. read more

Staff are pretty unwelcoming and lack basic customer service skills. I asked the guy at the front desk if they had something in stock and he gave me the most smug look said he didn't know and pointed me over to an counter a couple was already waiting at. I had to come back to this location twice in a week and both times the SAME unwelcoming service. I won't be using Guitar Center again. I returned some used gear that ended up having a defect. Whether you're a rockstar or an instrumental rookie, guitar center is the place to come get your groove on! Sadly I was not gifted with musical ability and I am in awe of those who are. However I still decided to take a trip to guitar center to purchase a keyboard and introduce music into our home and to my 1 year old daughter who by some miracle appears to have musical talent and rhythm! The store itself isn't in the best area, but when you walk in you venture into a musical world and forget the outside for a bit. Guitar center has everything; keyboards, drums, gorgeous acoustic and electric guitars, hand instruments, instructors, headphones, literature, electronics and accessories for anything and everything involving music and sound making. In a culture where everyone buys online these days coming into store is worth it for the prices and expertise. Guitar center beat every keyboard price we found online by a significant margin, and the staff were helpful in picking out what we needed and what we didn't need. Shopping in store is more fun anyway, you can physically pick out and feel your instrument that will hopefully become an important part of you and bring out /enhance your creative talent. Week after Christmas and my sons money was burning a hole in his pocket. He was looking to buy a electronic drum set. He's a beginner and we know absolutely nothing about these kits. We browsed for about 5 minutes googling good and bad trying to compare quality along with prices from a competitor about 3 miles away.. A middle age employee approached and asked if we needed help. I explained what we were looking for and he suggested a beginner kit in my sons price range. We ended up buying his suggestion after checking the competitor's website finding it to be about $50 cheaper at Guitar Center. Now our customer service was good. He seemed fairly knowledgeable and answered our questions. So why the 3 stars? The upsell at checkout. Yes we wanted an extended warranty for $60 just in case. No I didn't want to purchase a $100 stool, no he doesn't need a amplifier to go with it, no he doesn't need $150 headphones to plug in we have his gaming headset. I know this gentleman is probably required to try and squeak every penny they can but it's so irritating. Just like every store now asks if I'd like to round up my transaction for charity. Nope so your corporation can have a huge tax write off with consumer donations. We'll return because we got a good deal and our sales associate was nice, he even took the drums to my truck for me. read more

The service was great! I went in there right after work an hour before close wanting to buy my first electric guitar. I didn't have a huge budget but they still helped me pick out the perfect first one. I got the fender squire stratocaster, a cable, and a mini amp for exactly my budget. Wally is the man at this location. He has been doing this for a long time and knows his stuff! I started with him about 10 years ago when I got my first acoustic guitar. Then later I bought my daughter her first electric guitar. Memorable for me as Wally walked me through it all. They take trades and eventually my daughter moved up to an ax guitar. I always come here to get new strings installed and acquire the paraphernalia that sounds jamming out. They have way more than just guitars. Their is a dedicated section for drummers and equipment also to blow the doors off of your casa. There is a nice totally acoustic room where you can test drive the sound. Additionally, they have a room with really high end electric and bass guitars too. You might need a Small Business loan for these. Or, give up your Starbucks for a year. Guitar techs are always lazy and never help me when i told them my humbucker was broken and i told them i temporarily fixed it with some glue they refused to even take a look at it or even do anything about actually fixing it EVEN though i was willing to pay for it to get professionally fixed. Then the next time i came i asked if i can the action on a guitar adjusted the guy refused to even adjust it he said it looked fine but no there was buzz whenever i played the guitar but he said its normal im not new to guitar and i know what my guitar needs i just dont have the tools for this kind of stuff so instead of guitars center tech team helping i have to fix the problems myself so useless and waste of time going in there with employees who do nothing but sit and talk to their bestfriends. read more

Worst place to buy lessons they keep flaking on you and then they try to give you another guitar lesson teacher person then they are flaky too and nobody here knows how to play rock 'n' roll or metal. They keep wanting to teach me how to play classic country songs and I have an electric guitar and I like metal and hard rock. They won't teach me how to play it. !! They also do not play on electric guitars. They play on bass guitars to try to teach you electric style music that is not compatible with electric guitar playing. !! I even tried to get them to play old metal band type of music and also try to ask him to teach me how to do some classic Hardrock songs. They have no freaking clue who any of the classic people are either. Do not waste your money and come here. I had to quit my lessons because they weren't teaching me anything and then the guy that teaches you is completely self-absorbed. !! if I could give this less than one star, I would give it zero Worst Place in Arizona to go for lessons they have an OK selection of bundle packs when you buy your first guitar, but that's about it!! oh and the person that's in charge of making the appointments she never calls you back if you have to cancel or if they cancel on you, they never call you. Awful customer service. I came in to sell my Marshall cab that I don't use any more, I've come in a couple times before at other locations to sell my used gear and always had a more or less positive experience. However this location no so much. I walked in and not one person greeted me or asked me what I needed. They weren't even busy so I dont why there was a lack of customer service, in fact this was one of the few times I've seen Guitar Center not busy. I waited by the checkout counter hoping somene would see me and help me but instead I was completely ignored. After several minutes a worker finally came to the counter but he started helping other customers when I was there first. It's like I was invisible or something, the worker totally ignored me. I grabbed my cab and left. I left feeling very annoyed and disrespected. This location is 10 miles away from my home so I came all the way over here for nothing. I wont be coming to this location ever again. In the future I'll consider going to the Avondale location, maybe. From now on I'm just going to order all of my gear from Sweetwater and Zzounds, they're way better than GC anyway. read more

I walked in for an emg pick up . The worker asked me what kind I mentioned I didn't know the type of emg he said if you don't know what kind we can't help you . I proceeded to let them know I know what the pick up looks like and proceeded to point to the one I wanted . As I went to pay I put in my pin I pulled my car the worker told me that the payment didn't go through so I proceeded to pay again as I was getting home I checked bank account and I was charged twice . Two charges of 198 totaling out to almost $400 . They told me both charges were pending but I knew how much money I had in my account and told me that I just had to wait 24 to 48 hrs to get my money back . Completely unacceptable as I have things to pay today. Save your time and money order online instead . read more

I went in last Saturday to buy a Taylor guitar. Stood in the acoustic room waiting for someone to get the selection down to try it out and no one came. Stood outside by the register for 30 minutes and no one came to help. So I went 3 miles away and spent several thousand at Sam Ash on a Taylor. Today, I thought I'd give them a try as I needed a guitar stand. Same deal - no one to wait on me. Took 15 minutes for someone to come to the cash register. When I commented the cashier said this is a busy time of year and he has been complaining to corporate they need more people. I've never had this problem at Denver Guitar Center. Sorry to say I'm moving g my business to Sam Ash here in Phoenix. read more

You may have some qualms about taking a guitar to GC for repairs, but Dallas the guitar tech is actually excellent at this location. He is reasonable, knows what he is doing and can fix your guitar or bass quickly and without doing unnecessary work. He's talked me out of fretwork on two different occasions and fixed my issues quickly. He fixed two high frets, an out of whack string tree, adjusted the nut slots, did a set up, replaced 2 saddle springs, filed fret edges, polished frets and oiled the fretboard for a reasonable fee and turned it around for me in a few hours. read more

Today 9/30/23 I dropped almost $5000.00 on a really nice PA System...as I was being rang up,I asked if they gave any perks for such a large sale ( hats,T-shirts,strings,picks etc... ) I was told "No,we don't do anything like that" well fu*k !!! I bought a Gibson Les Paul from Sam Ash a few years back that cost $2200.00 and I left there with 2 shirts,2 hats,a guitar strap and a crap load of picks...now I'm sure this didn't break the bank for Sam Ash but I thought that was cool af and bought a lot more stuff in future visits...So after today,if I have to drive 30 mi out of the way...my next major purchase will be at Sam Ash.It doesn't take much to make your customers feel appreciated for your hard earned cash . read more

I had to buy something just to see if it fit because I was told that the mustang mini would fit my guitar but it doesn't and I would need to take 2-5 business days for the refund. The instructors are good but the person who books the lessons constantly messes up the schedule. Its a big mess, she constantly has an excuse for what she messed up- its either the computer did not do something or the instructors did not look at their schedule, its never her fault. She denies something shes told you about the schedule. I've had problems with her since i signed my daughter up for lessons. Everytime i would try and call her shes not there or does not answer the phone. I have finally decided to take my daughter to a more organized facility. read more

Little disappointed. Went in seeking help putting together a karaoke system. Only employee in audio was on the phone when I got there, was a decent wait as a result. Numerous exchanges between employee, phone customer and manager. Didn't understand why call wasn't transferred to manager so employee could help next person who was in store. Then another call came in and was prioritized over me, which also seemed like bad business. When I got help employee was friendly and tried but also admitted he, nor anyone working there, had karaoke knowledge and that I should ask people working in bars about it. That seemed really odd. Guitar center sells actual karaoke specific stuff as well as generic audio equipment that can be used. Seems like it should be part of their training/knowledge. read more

I paid online for a curbside pickup order, checked in and opened my trunk, as per their instructions, meanwhile the parking lot is crawling with bums who will not hesitate to knock on your window and ask you for cash. So, I was thrilled to sit their with my hatchback open letting all the cool air out and welcoming strange people to my stuff. I closed my trunk after like 10 minutes, but they left me hanging for a half hour before I finally got fed up and left. 5 days later I get an email thanking me for picking up my item! Only I never went back after the first experience, so they wasted my time and robbed me of $55. Not recommended. *Update* Over two months later, and despite multiple attempts to contact Guitar Center for a refund, have still not received one. I've been given nothing in return for my time and money, but the runaround. Seems like a sweet deal for whoever steals customer orders over there: zero accountability. read more
