I've been to this GC location twice in the last six months and both times my experience has been positive. Great selection of used and new gear for any musician whether you're a hobbyist (like me) or a touring musician with virtuoso chops and a record label. Both times I worked with Ian and both times I've been very happy with my experience, having bought an amp both times while selling my used gear towards the purchases. They'll definitely be getting more business from me and I'll definitely be asking for Ian each time. read more

One mic stand- 3 trips. First trip: Q: Does this mic stand tilt forward? ($54.99) A: Yes! Second Trip: Q: This stand you sold me doesn't tilt forward, do you have one that does? A: Yes, we have one that tilts and it's on sale! ($79.99) Q: Do I need a mic holder for it or does it come with one? A: It does not come with one, you'll need to buy one. ($10.99) Third Trip: Q: Can I return the mic holder I didn't need because my new mic stand (that was NOT on sale) already came with one? ... Waste of time and gas. Nice people but they couldn't give less of a shit about their job. I've been to other Guitar Centers and this is not a good representation of past experience. read more

Good luck tying to get someone to help you. and when you do they are too busy to help you. Very rude

Went in looking for a banjo. Yes, a banjo. After passing multiple employees and making eye contact, one older gentleman in the back finally asked if he could help. He showed me to the acoustic room. The selection was minimal at best and the employee stationed there knew even less than I did about banjos...and that isn't much. I guess you just can't hire very knowledgeable employees for what they probably pay being a "big box" chain store. Overall it was clean, well lit and organized. read more

Place is great. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I had many questions that were promptly answered. Would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for new instruments or perhaps just some general information. read more

It's by far the worst guitar center I have been to. The customer service is bad. Never going back here.

I buy all my musical needs at the Guitar Center, including having my Martin set up, installed electronics, and new strings. John Pottle did a fantastic job and it didn't break my bank book. I originally went to Sam Ash and was told that they match or beat any other store when it comes to setting up a guitar. I went back a week later to see if the tech could match or beat Guitar Centers price. The tech became very agitated telling me no Sam Ash has a set price. I mentioned that I was told by him they could beat or match any other store and he denied saying it and told me to go Guitar Center. How rude I thought I will never ever purchase any more items fro Sam Ash now preferring to purchase online. I must say it plays much better and the action is light and easier to play. read more

I always hear guitar center isn't the best place to go for getting your guitar worked on but I have nothing bad to say. I went in today to get some pickups installed and wow. I was expecting do drop my guitar off and wait 3 days to get it back but the tech (named Kyle Foot) helped me he was about to go on lunch but skipped it just to install my pick ups right away. He also answered all my ignorant questions (I'm new to the guitar would) and seemed to not mind at all. He enjoy answering my questions and skipping lunch just to deal with me. That's hard to find. As a manager of over 20 people where I work I know how hard it is to find people like this and hats of to Kyle. 5 stars read more

Bought an acoustic Fender yesterday. Scott helped me out a lot. He even saved me the time of having to return a case I bought for the guitar by opening the box and making sure it wasn't damaged at all. read more

Five stars for the customer service. I believe the guy that helped me was named Scott or Rob. He had friendly recommendations , information and suggestions for equipment. I plan on returning to this store for equipment in the future. read more

We got a large gift card for my daughter's birthday and spent the evening selecting a guitar. The staff was helpful and overall it was a good experience. My only real issue was that there was a little too much salesy-talk instead of just letting us browse. If they took people off commission it would be better - nobody wants to be upsold or fed lines when they are looking for a musical instrument. read more

I love great customer service, especially when things don't work. I had a piece of gear go down, and Ashley and CJ went way above what I was hoping for to solve my problem. I've been coming to GC for years and will continue to shop here for many years to come when there are people like Ashley and CJ behind the counter making everything work for customers. read more

Worst customer service I've seen at any GC. Usually the staff (especially in Mesa store) are great and knowledgeable -- or at least friendly. These guys acted like they were doing me a favor when I asked about a specific guitar I'd seen was available at this store online. The best I could do was a "over on the wall (without looking up)." And then..."if you don't see it then I don't know." I then had to wait 10 minutes to pay for a cable and some picks. As for me, I'll stick to Mesa or Scottsdale GC from now on. The Phoenix location has a great selection of acoustics and electrics but there are way too many talented rock stars working there to help you. read more

I really try to avoid this place but was looking for a certain small Amp Head a few months ago. They had one on display and I wanted to know if they had any new in stock. The sales guy said that they did after checking computer but returned 5 minutes later and said he couldn't find it. (this is typical at this location and has happened before). I said "O.K. thanks" and left. He neither offered me an alternative or any kind of deal on the display model nor asked me any questions. I always feel like I'm burdening the sales staff asking questions and they typically have no answer. Prices are always missing on the amplifiers and they never have the latest stuff that I see advertised. Also, they don't address any complaints from the actual store. They write a lame "sorry bout' that" on Yelp then direct you to some web-site Yourvoice@something.com. Just another inconvenience for the paying customer who probably like me won't bother. read more

the guy was so nice and was very helpful. the location sucks bc creeps but everyone there was so lovely and kind. plus got a sick new guitar! read more

I signed my grand daughter up for lessons and paid a month in advance. for the second time now, we show up for the lesson and she is not on the schedule and the instructor is not there. No one at the lesson desk that can help me at the time that we are there. One of the other instructors took my information and said that he would have the manager call me the next day. when I called today, the manager sounded as if this was the first he had heard of the situation and promised to get back with me after he figured out what was going on...still waiting to hear back. My grand daughter and I both really like the instructor but everything else seems very disorganized. read more

Best guitar center in the valley, but I wish they had more Platinum rooms or at least places to try out equipment without hearing everyone else play their favorite heavy metal licks at 10. I bought a Taylor acoustic and a couple of Gibson SGs here. Knowledgeable staff I. am always treated well here even when I'm just browsing. read more

i have in and out experiences. i had an awful pro audio experience and awful experiences through the whole store. but also some good ones in drums and dj and pro audio. i would still choose sam ash over this place for guitars and drums and what not but pro audio and dj stuff this place is your best bet read more

Warning...This is the reveiw I sent the store,,,, You may not like my feedback as I am very very upset with what I was told was policy. I had bought with good faith an item, not a lot of money but $60.00 none the less. My beef is that because the item did not fit, I returned to find that I could not receive my cash back paid in cash.. as I but was given a check, a check on a bank that charges non customers $5.00 to cash said check...lucky for me my bank cashed it for me,,,here's the rub, I had needed other supplies from the store , which I would have had to spent more money but stuck with a check.....which would have meant finding a bank, cashing the check (at 5 in the afternoon) and drive back to the store...NO WAY JOSE'! I have made up my mind. Even though that store is close to me I will no longer go there or shop any other of your stores...not only have you lost a store...but a musician in this city who will from this point pass along the no fly zone along the way. PS. I am not some 20 year old kid with a beef but a 53 year old consumer of your type of trade. read more

Absolutely nice place! Friendly and knowledgeable people. Went there to get some recording equipment for my daughter. A salesman Raul, very knowledgeable and dedicated to music guy, advised me on all aspects of recording. Will definitely come back. read more

I have shopped at this store many times in the past 3 years, the people there are nice except for one old man with long black hair, he sucks. I went there Thursday to get some dimarzio dp 100s and they didn't have them in the store. Which was fine the young gentleman told me that he could order them from the ware house. He said they wernt in stock, but the ware house was geting them on the 12th and that i would get them 4 to 6 days from that date. So ok I figured a week well have our pickups. Wrong I called the ware house to see if they came in yet. And the gentleman on the phone said that they might get them on the 17 or 27th. The gentelmen lied to me, so I cancelled my order. All he had to say was ot could take from 4 to 6 days to weeks and we would of went some were else then. And there has been plenty of times me and my husband went in to buy instruments and couldn't get no help so we spent our money else ware. They said flying vs aren't in production any more. Theres no her some thing else that u mihgt like or nothing. And my husband plays up side down and back wards, so had to have some flying Vs so we went somer were else. read more

great place, helpful, friendly, good selection, they stand behind their products. i bought a les paul and got it for a great price, no complaints read more

I've been there a few times and bought a few Guitars and an amp. I have a love/hate thing with guitar center. Their prices are really cheap, and there are some good folks in the guitar section; willing to help, answer questions, and leave you alone if you want to be. My problem is with the accessories dept. The whole vibe changes when you step over there. those guys were following me around like I was a shoplifter, hounding me about what I needed or otherwise just staring at me making me uncomfortable, If they left me alone, I might have bought more than I did but I was put off big time.Yes they do ego trip, but I can overlook that. I would go there to buy a guitar but it would have to be in the box. I wouldn't want to spend full price on a wall hanger. But as far as my accessoies go I go to Central Music now. They dont even sell Guitars, but do sell strings, picks, tuners and have a large selection of sheet music and videos. If I cant find it there I go online. read more
