This was our first time at this location, but it had been a while since I last had Guisados . I ordered cochinita pibil but never was asked about the spice level so i went with a 7 . The spice level was just a habanero salsa slathered on top which really took away from the flavor of the cochinita pibil and therefore didn't really enjoy that taco . Also the cucumber lemonade was very tart and not enjoyable . But other than that , the location was fine and the rest of the food was good .

Mole Poblano tacos.

My favorite taco spot in the area. The people are always nice and the food is always fresh of course. I ordered a sampler for my sis's first time, and they even came out to check if we knew what was what. They also offered to redo the cochinita pibil if it was too spicy. I've been to the Burbank and OG L.A. locations, but I prefer the seating at this one, as there's a nice mix of inside and outside seating. Also never have any trouble parking. (Side note: my favorite are the mole poblano tacos... so good.)

This is my favorite Guisados location by far. They have great hours--opening early and closing late--and actual parking, which can be tough to find in Pasadena. The staff is always friendly, and the outdoor patio is a awesome spot to sit. My go-to order is always the quesadilla con chorizo paired with a jamaica, and then I'll rotate my taco choices every visit. My only real quip is the 3% credit card fee, so I have to remind myself to bring cash.

Ordered the chile verde pork, beef and pescado tacos, bistek rojo burrito since the tamales sold out when I got there at 9:30pm on a Saturday. Portion is bite size and they got a six taco sampler which is even smaller. Service was top notch since we had the placed somewhat booked for an event! Ordering was quick and can be done by the cashier at front or a person with a checkout terminal. Place is super clean and spacious. Much cleaner compared to Dtla one. Will take any guests here !

I came to try this spot for breakfast. This place has a small parking lot in the back. Staff was friendly & open to questions. There is indoor & outdoor seating. I went with the breakfast tacos, chorizo with egg, mexicana, & papa with egg. Those 3 tacos were very filling & yummy. Tortillas were handmade which gives it the corn masa flavor. There is also an indoor coffee stand. I ordered the matcha latte which is called sana sana colita de rana lol! Overall , a nice spot for breakfast or lunch if you want to have some tacos or burritos. Also 10/10 playlist , having OG bangers!

Gorgeous chandelier in Guisado's Pasadena!

I LOVE all the Guisado's I've been to, with a special place in my heart for the one on Sunset Blvd in Echo Park. Food is simple, consistent and delicious. Best examples for me? Fish taco on cabbage and quesadilla with avocado. One major flaw, however: no iced tea, sugary drinks only. Please, Guisado's! Please! Serve some plain iced tea!

I visited Guisados last Sunday after a run with the Run Culture group, and I can't say enough good things about this place. They were incredibly kind and supportive of our running event allowing us to use their parking lot, providing water, and letting all the runners use their restrooms. That level of hospitality really stood out. After the run, my husband, friends, and I stayed to eat and support the business and wow, we're so glad we did. The tacos were absolutely delicious! We tried the tinga, nopales, bistec en salsa roja, mole, cochinita pibil, and a chile relleno burrito... everything was full of flavor and so well prepared. The drinks were just as good the horchata and jamaica were refreshing and perfect after a run. The coffee line was long, which must mean it's popular we'll definitely try it next time! The restaurant is very clean, including the restrooms, and the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. There's also a decent-sized parking lot, which is always a plus in Pasadena. I loved it so much... I actually came back yesterday for more tacos Highly recommend this spot not just for the amazing food, but for the great service and community support. We'll definitely be back!

Jesus was the man. He really took extensive time explaining many of the items, how they are cooked, and what flavors go into them. My wife and I tried 6 tacos total, before going back to try 2 more. They were that good and all are filled with flavor. My favorite was the chicken tinga and my wife's was the chorizo, but everything was great and slow roasted. Heads up, if you get a taco where you can pick your heat level, go 2 levels lower than what you plan on getting. The levels go up to 10, but 3 is considered medium. I got 5 and even that burned my mouth off, I was crying. The agua frescas were super fresh and refreshing. The pan dulce also extremely soft and fresh - they bake them in house daily! Overall, Guisados was a really nice surprise. Great food, nice relaxing seating. Easy & free parking. The entire service from Jesus, the other staff members behind the counter, and the bussers were very friendly and felt happy talking to us. We'll definitely come back to try more off the menu, and for breakfast & coffee as well.

Jamaica - not too sweet!
Brad D.

Really good tacos, a great variety, and the Jamaica isn't too sweet. Of the 4 I had this time, the cochinita pibil was my favorite.

On our recent trip to California, we got to to eat and drink at amazing restaurants & bars. One of them was Guisados in Pasadena. It was a great experience with exceptional tacos as well as house made Sangria !! We had fish tacos, chicken tacos as well pork - all were delicious, freshly prepared with tortillas being made from scratch. The restaurant has limited inside seating but a great outdoor patio. Staff are friendly, helpful and with big smiles !!

Ali C.

Great service, delicious food. Convenient location. Shrimps are so fresh. Must return.

Ordered Doordash and it arrived pretty fast ~30 min! Got the Sampler ($13.25) and had the option to pick 6 different tacos! My 6 options were: Steak Picado, Bistek Roja, Mole, Tinga, Cochinita, and Chorizo. The tacos were pretty cold and dry when I got them so I was pretty disappointed. Honestly, it was hard to distinguish the flavors because they were all so salty! I really wanted to have a favorite but they all tasted the same to me. They were all pretty small and super greasy! Overall, I was pretty disappointed and none of the tacos stood out to me so this was 5/10 The Horchata was ok and nothing special. A little too sweet and it tasted pretty artificial flavored so this was 5/10 Most likely won't recommend or reorder unfortunately.

Ask the Community - Guisados

This restaurant serves kosher food?

No, it's a Mexican restaurant with much of the food mixing milk products with meat, i.e., pork, chicken, beef, etc. Guisados is not a good choice for kosher foods, yet it is one for pure deliciousness!

Do you sell your corn tortillas for people to take home?

Do they serve beer?

yes!!!

Can you ask for no cheese or cream (i.e. dairy-free)?

Yes

Are the corn tortillas non GMO?

Yeah and cage free too

Do tamales have lard? Or are they vegetarian?

I recently asked them, they told me all their tamales have lard in the masa except the elote tamales which are made with butter.

Open for dine-in yet?

Yes

I ordered a rose pinot wine from the "Whites" section and apparently they did not have that wine so instead of letting me know he brought a pinot noir. It was impossible to get our server's attention so that I could ask about why I was brought that wine and to order a sauvignon blanc which was finally served just before our food arrived. Our meal was tasty and we enjoyed it. However, trying to get the bill to pay was another long wait. I was not happy with the service and so I gave the server a 15% tip. I received my bank statement yesterday and the restaurant added an additional $4 without my approval. For me service is an important part of dining and because it was mediocre I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

We discovered Cabrera's during the almost 2 year time span when our then go-to for Mexican, La Fiesta Grande in So. Pasadena, closed and their new location on Glenarm/Marengo opened. We tried a multitude of Pasadena places, including Mijares, Casa del Rey, Margaritas and El Torito (gringo!). Cabrera's was our fave, with a better location for us vs. La Fiesta. Their menu extended beyond the "ordinary", and I liked their plating/presentation. A slice of cucumber or orange adds a lot to a mound of shredded lettuce garnish. Mind you, our family fave for +40 years is still El Tepeyac in Boyle Heights, but that's quite a shlep. Cabrera's has also been around awhile (40 years) and now has 3 locations--Arcadia (the original), Pasadena and Duarte. All are owned/co-owned by 2 families, one named Cabrera. The Pasadena location is near the corner of Lake and Orange Grove, next to popular breakfast spot The Reyn, with which it shares a rear parking lot. All locations have a full bar. I have ordered off the regular menu, breakfast menu and Happy Hour bar menu. The breakfast menu is mostly offered on weekends when they open at 10 am, but you can ask for it weekdays at 11 am opening. My fave dish is the chilaquiles. As stated before, their all-day menu has some unique items, but I stick with the more gringo choices. Their chile rellenos used to be quite large, with the poblano chile clearly visible. They're a bit smaller and more generic now, but still fine. We order it as a 2 or 3-item combo or a la carte. Note their complimentary chips and salsa comes with 2 salsas, one red and one dark green (smoky and quite spicy). Lately we have been coming here for their Tuesday or Wednesday specials. Tuesdays is of course Taco Tuesday, and I love their crispy beef tacos. They have a special avocado salsa on Tuesdays. Every Wednesday, a certain dish is 50% off for the entire month if you order a soft drink, a great value. The most recent specials were fish tacos and steak or chicken fajitas, both delish. As AARP members, we usually arrive at 11 am opening. Inevitably either Christian and/or Guillermo, scions of the 2 founding families, are on duty then (Christian is the Pasadena manager)--shout outs to both of them! We are very comfy and happy with our newish go-to for Mexican food.

After we were helped eventually, the customer who was waiting when we arrived returned with his takeout, and as it was appeared that the food and order was wrong. The customer was very unhappy. With no utensil, napkins, or food we waited patiently until it became apparent it was not good service and customers were not happy.
