Taco Sampler
Vincent W.

Go to taco eatery whether you're a local or visiting, highlight Guisados to your list. There's vegan options and other items from tortas to burritos. If you're not sure which tacos to try, order the sampler and pick up to six different options. House made corn tortilla wraps with multiple meat and few vegan options that are well seasoned. Kick of spice and flavors that is nostalgic for Latin cuisine. Also the Mexican Coke and house Fresca drinks. I always op for hibiscus. The service is fast and check your local delivery service, might not be available for certain apps.

4++ if you have lived in the Los Angeles area for a while, there's a good chance you've seen or been to one of the Guisados locations. They specialize in tacos that have stews and braises that's put on top of some fresh corn tortillas. The service was friendly and efficient. Pretty helpful in ordering as well, but I already knew what I wanted. And that was mole poblano. As delicious as I remembered. This place is always good for the style of tacos and they're consistent and reasonably priced. Vibe here at this particular location is interesting. I came here on a weeknight on the later side. Pretty much feels like your typical fast casual spot these days. Because it was on the later side, I was able to find street parking pretty close by. But I will say that the area can feel a little sketch when it's late here.

Went to Guisados this weekend, post-LA Auto Show, after not going for years. Got the cochinita and the mole tacos. I just came back from Mexico, so I found the mole to be on the milder side, but the cochinita was as good as I remembered. Super juicy, decent spice level (but more than tolerable for the average person). Also got the Jamaica, which was great. The women taking our order was pleasant, this location was really clean, and it was relatively unpacked for a weekend at lunch, so the food came out quick. Keep your receipt to be able to use the restroom in the food hall/alley.

Ordered a variety of tacos here including pollo, chicharron, bistek, and a breakfast burrito. Wow the food here is very solid and delicious. The tortillas wrapping the tacos and burritos were soft and the meat had so much flavor. I didn't get to evaluate the ambiance since I ordered to go but service wise it seemed like they packed the food care.

Finally had Guisado's duringa DTLA taco walk! Located off Spring Street in the beautiful Historic Core, a location where I have never encountered a long line. Yet. Tried a few tacos, they were all delicious. No extra salsa provided, I guess you don't need it because these petite little tiny 3-bite tacos are perfectly and precisely composed. Some have a pickled onion, some have avocado slices. The tortillas are thick handmade corn, hot off the press. Delectable! All said, I'm a fan. Horchata was delicious. They have beer too. If you have a larger appetite, Sonoratown may be better for you. But for a lovely balanced taco with a variety of flavors, you can do much worse.

I love the tacos here. The breakfast tacos are good as well. They are made to order and come out pretty fast . Very casual restaurant.

* The Horchata Cold Brew was smooth and creamy - the mild sweetness, warm cinnamon, and mellow roast from the coffee blending great together * The Beef Steak Picado taco was complex, robust, and earthy with an almost stew-like texture; the Pork Chorizo taco was nicely charred, a tad sweet, and had a nice kick to it; and the Chicken Mole Poblano taco was very soft and savory, with the mole bitterness working well with the poblano * Overall, a great spot with fresh tortillas, friendly service, and a special style of tacos that will warrant repeat trips to taste the vast menu

OG Sampler
Carrie Z.

Tried the OG Sampler with 6 mini tacos for $12.90, enough for one person. The tortillas were soft, slightly thicker and chewy, not typical tacos. The meat had good flavor, though it felt like the tacos were starting to lean a bit more "fancy" than traditional. Not spicy, so you may want to add some heat. Note: The chicharrón taco was soggy and was not the crispy texture you'd expect.

Guisados does not skimp on their portions!!! If you work in Downtown, this is a good place to go for lunch with coworkers. Definitely would have been satisfied with just 2 tacos and not 3, that's how big they are!!

Chicken mole taco, flank steak red pepper taco

I came to this downtown location as part of a group food tour. I was pleasantly surprised that this was one of our destinations! After seeing them featured on one of the best things to eat in LA, I have been dying to try their tacos. They are know for their home-style braised meats. I got the chicken mole taco and the flank steak red pepper tacos. Both tacos were small but packed lots of flavor. The flavors and texture were all there! Each taco was very small. So I could have probably eaten 5 to be full! Service was fine. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.

My friends and I were in the area and kind of just stumbled upon this place and tried it out on a whim! I like the inside, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. I will say, the portions are on the smaller side for sure, but the food was definitely tasty and not too expensive! I tried the chicken quesadilla, and you have the option of having it with chicken tinga or chicken mole, I got the tinga and my friend got the mole and we both thought they were pretty good. Also, I did not try it myself, but my friend got the pumpkin horchata and loved it so much she ordered a second cup to go so it sounds pretty yum! I would def be interested in coming again to try either their tacos or breakfast burrito, we'll see!

Chicharron

Wow just wow. The inside is no frills but the food : chefs kiss:. I had the tinga de Pollo and the churrazon. Both were absolutely perfect. Great flavor little bit of cheese on it abs a tiny slice of avocado. But my lovely daughter got the quesadilla and I had to go back and get another one. The service was excellent and they deserve a tip. First time I've seen somebody walk in, grab the tip jar and walk out. Leave a digital tip.

Amazing tacos. Doesn't even need salsa cause of the juicy marinated meats. Must try spot.

Which menu items contain peanuts?

How bad is it to find free parking?

Plenty of street or self park/pay parking. Not 100% if this place has parking though

Is this authentic Mexican?

Yeah. Most meats are stewed though so it's different than your normal Mexican food. Delicious.

Do they have alcohol?

They do have beer!

Do they have chips and salsa?

Chelsy, Guisados is more traditional - fresh-made tortillas and quality ingredients. I didn't see tortilla chips on the menu as the focus seemed to be on the street-style taco.

The lush outdoor setting feels like a hidden oasis tucked away in the middle of Hollywood and creates a unique atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed dinner. The food was excellent across the board. We started with the oysters and ceviche, both of which were incredibly fresh, bright, and full of flavor. The guacamole was delicious and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The standout dish of the evening, however, was the short rib tacos. Tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, they were easily our favorite item of the meal and something we'd order again without hesitation. Our server was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and answered every question with confidence. Great service can elevate a meal, and he definitely contributed to an already excellent experience. One thing guests should know is that the scent of sage throughout the restaurant is quite noticeable. It may not be everyone's preference, but we personally enjoyed it and thought it added to the restaurant's unique ambiance and character. Between the beautiful setting, fresh and flavorful food, and attentive service, KATEEN exceeded our expectations. We would gladly return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Hollywood.

However, the reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the valet parking experience. First, I was charged $25 even though the sign clearly stated that valet parking is $17 for the first 3 hours, and $25 after 3 hours. Our reservation was at 6:30 PM, we arrived on time, and we left before 9 PM, so the charge did not make sense. When I asked the valet attendant, he kept saying, "because you dined there," without giving any clear explanation. If it is actually a flat rate for restaurant guests, then that should be clearly stated upfront to customers. Second, when I got into my car, I noticed that someone had touched the navigation settings because the compass direction and display were different from what I normally use. I do not understand why there was any need to adjust or touch my navigation system at all. I really think the restaurant needs to improve and better manage its valet parking system. Honestly, it felt like I was being charged a random price just because I was told, "you dined there." If there is a flat valet rate for restaurant guests, that information should be clearly communicated upfront instead of leaving customers confused at the end.

Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!
